    I have given this a week to settle, but watching the continued impact of Karen's tactlessness on my…read moredaughter is a cause to give warning. We brought my daughter's wedding dress to Karen to be hemmed and have the straps shortened. Having one's wedding dress fitted should feel joyful. It's a gorgeous dress that she has chosen and she looks beautiful in it. It might have helped if she had said anything like that anywhere along the line, but M was left with very different feelings. When I asked about a small wrinkle at the waistline, Karen's response was that the dress was too small and couldn't be let out. (I thought the height of the strap might solve it.) When we got to the hem, M said she didn't really want her feet showing. Karen didn't ask how M liked where she pinned it, just said it couldn't be any longer. When it was clear M wanted to take another look at what she had done, Karen seemed to have a hard time shifting gears. She finally said she understood that M didn't understand what we were doing, but that we could look again. It all felt a bit strange. Karen may be very good at her craft, but diplomacy is not her strong suit. Noone wants to be told they are too big for their wedding dress and too ignorant to understand having their hem pinned. The process was awkward and uncomfortable and has had a lasting impact. We took our business elsewhere as M had no desire to see Karen again.
