Karen was condescending and irritable with us throughout the entire session. I suspect it's because Google maps landed us somewhere completely different using the address we were given and we had trouble finding her house, which was not our fault. But this seems to have resulted in irritation with us for costing her time, which meant she charged $30 for taking measurements for a custom suit, but was too impatient and annoyed with us to measure the pants as well. (At first my husband indicated he wanted to just leave, as he was tired of the interaction. But when I heard the fee, which was a bit higher than I expected, I asked if we could please proceed to measure the pants since we're paying for the measurement session. And after a long, tense silence she said "you are paying for my time," and so we left.) I think it was reasonable for us to want a professional tailor to make sure we got a custom order right. Karen seemed so annoyed at us, and frankly quite disrespectful to our intelligence, that we regretted going to see her. I completed the suit measurements for my husband as best as I could at home, using the diagrams and pictures found online. At first I had planned to inquire about her availability for alterations if the suit we order needs some tweaks. But we will not be returning. read more

I have given this a week to settle, but watching the continued impact of Karen's tactlessness on my daughter is a cause to give warning. We brought my daughter's wedding dress to Karen to be hemmed and have the straps shortened. Having one's wedding dress fitted should feel joyful. It's a gorgeous dress that she has chosen and she looks beautiful in it. It might have helped if she had said anything like that anywhere along the line, but M was left with very different feelings. When I asked about a small wrinkle at the waistline, Karen's response was that the dress was too small and couldn't be let out. (I thought the height of the strap might solve it.) When we got to the hem, M said she didn't really want her feet showing. Karen didn't ask how M liked where she pinned it, just said it couldn't be any longer. When it was clear M wanted to take another look at what she had done, Karen seemed to have a hard time shifting gears. She finally said she understood that M didn't understand what we were doing, but that we could look again. It all felt a bit strange. Karen may be very good at her craft, but diplomacy is not her strong suit. Noone wants to be told they are too big for their wedding dress and too ignorant to understand having their hem pinned. The process was awkward and uncomfortable and has had a lasting impact. We took our business elsewhere as M had no desire to see Karen again. read more

I recommend Imagine for experience and excellence with tough home alterations. She took my heavy, lined drapes and was able to lengthen them (and the lining) quickly and competently. A few days later they were finished and like new. read more

Experience was all around frustrating. The changes desired were argued and ultimately I didn't get half the alterations requested. I had requested bra cups to be sewn in to a formal dress and was told that wasn't necessary. So I placed them myself but of course they shifted all night and kept being visibly outside the dress. I also wanted to raise the slit of the dress. After multiple references to my "crotch" and arguing there was final agreement to raise it as requested, however when I returned the slit had actually been visibly hemmed lower. I requested to have this raised again I was charged for both the hemming I hadn't requested and to raise it to where it had been originally. The alterations cost more than the dress and I wasn't happy with the results at all. read more

Long story short, I got my vision, I am so excited and could not be more thrilled. I appreciated all of Karen's advice and honesty along the way. I found Imagine Custom Sewing & Designs when looking for someone to hem ONE pair of jeans. Well, after being told the job would be done within 3 days, it wasn't. I had to call her to find out the task was NOT done and wouldn't be for at least another day or 2. I waited another 3 full days and she didn't call. The afternoon of the 5th day I called her and she told me the jeans were done. I rushed over, they were done. The sewing was the skill level of a 5th grader, threads loose and hanging, and the hems were NOT even. Then to top it all off, the task cost me $15...the jeans only cost $18 BRAND NEW!!! I learned my lesson! I will never, ever, ever take anything back to this person. Rude, rather pushy, lazy, and doesn't get the work done when promised. Don't go here for simple things...she charges WAY too much, takes WAY too long and then doesn't do solid work. read more

Karen made some tricky alterations on some pricey clothing and they turned out just right. She was a pleasure to work with. She listened and was happy to do what I wanted and also offered suggestions and advice. When I asked, she also gave some savvy fashion advice for my figure. We brought in 3 brand new pr of levi's to have all the belt loops altered to accommodate a bigger belt, the pants were 3 different colors, thinking with the $50 deposit she asked for that she would color match the loops with the color of the pants, but nope, she put black loops on blue denim and blue loops on black denim...unbelievable, if you need an alterations professional, read the reviews and DONT go to imagine alterations in eugene oregon. read more

I was pretty disappointed in how this lady reacted over the phone when I wanted to get my dog's harness fixed before the weekend which would take about 5 minutes. She acted like that was an absurd request. It's wednesday morning. Total turn off. I should have read the reviews before even contacting her!!! Do not recommend AT ALL. read more

Karen has been working diligently and wonderfully on my wedding dress alterations and has done an amazing job. My dress arrived incredibly late from the designer and needed a lot of fixes for me to be comfortable. Initially, she was a little overwhelmed with what needed to be done but she is clearly a very talented seamstress. She made sure that every detail and alteration was something that not only I would want but would help me feel my best on my wedding day. She has great availability and is very flexible. I really appreciate all of the input and advice she has had. I am so happy with my dress. I will post pictures after the wedding day. There are not a lot of places in Eugene that do wedding dress alterations and I do not think I would trust anyone else in the area with my dress. She is also involved in a non-profit called Littlest Angels Gowns that does beautiful work for families that have lost a baby. I highly recommend considering donating to their cause. Good job on the sewing. I had her put a knee patch on a pair of my jeans but when I picked it up was told it would cost $25.00 which was almost the cost of the jeans. I should have got a estimate before I left her house. She also sewed a liner to a jacket pocket while I waited and charged $10.00. Horrible experience with my daughters wedding dress. This lady burned my daughters wedding dress with an iron, then did a terrible patch job to attempt to repair it, and offered no refund. When I called her , she hung up on me. The wedding dress was ruined and I had to purchase a new wedding dress for my daughter days before the wedding. Very upsetting, my daughter was crushed and so was I. Horrible customer service, beware do not use this lady, she is very unprofessional. read more

I actually had a very bad experience with Karen and I would not recommend her for another alteration. I hired her to alter my wedding dress and from our first encounter, she was not friendly at all...frankly, she seemed annoyed. I knew I should have ended it right then and there but I was in a time crunch and she said she could get it done by my wedding date...Anyway, she actually ended up burning my wedding dress when she was steaming it and didn't tell me until I had the dress on at my last fitting...thinking it wasn't that noticeable. Well it was and I had to find another wedding dress a week before my big day..If you have ever been a bride, you are probably cringing right now. Anyway, that is my experience with her and she still has $150 of mine..So I guess you can say I'm the one with the bad judgment!!! Do yourself a favor and learn from my mistake! read more
