i cannot recommend thea enough! i was coming into town to visit family and had seen other reviews so threw a dress in my car that i needed altered and texted her to see if she'd have time on such short notice. we arranged for a time in the morning for me to bring it over and she carefully pinned it and we agreed on the alterations she would make. it's useful to know in advance that the only forms of payment she accepts are cash and check so i explained i'd need to stop at an atm because i don't travel with checks and don't even write many anymore and don't usually have cash on me. i already felt badly giving her such a fast turnaround time based on when i knew i'd be leaving town to drive back to seattle; i wanted her to confirm she would have enough time with all the other projects she has going to be able to complete my alterations without feeling rushed. completely by surprise, the *very same day* i dropped it off in the morning, she texted and asked if i could stop by at 7pm to try it on. my mind was BLOWN! i could not believe she had done all the alterations in the same day. the dress looks amazing and you'd never ever be able to tell it was altered, considering it was purchased from anthropologie. i'm a complete convert and client for life! i told thea that the next time i come to eugene i will contact her ahead of time and hope to drop off more projects. she is super sweet, clearly cares about her craft and is an amazing seamstress. what a find!! read more

Tia has hemmed many pairs of pants for me, and always does an excellent job! She has also tailored some of my jackets to shorten the length of the arms and redo the cuffs to be an elastic fit instead of velcro. I know I can always rely on Tia for beautiful and accurate work on anything that I bring to her. She is so friendly and welcoming to all customers! Recently we ordered a Mother-of the Bride wedding dress, online, for a formal wedding, coming up soon. We consulted Tia beforehand, and when the dress arrived, we took it to her for fitting. She is a very talented seamstress, and quickly started making some major adjustments to the dress, and advice to my wife, who would wear it. Thea, who I know as Tia, is so amazing! Last month, I bought some fabric to make an ice bag, as I need a replacement bag for storing ice cubes in my freezer. I usually buy a bag of ice when I'm at the grocery store, as I looooooooooooooooooooooooooove to put ice in my drinks like water, juice, and milk. I even make icy drinks like virgin strawberry daiquiris and frappuccinos from scratch at home with my blender. Originally, I used to put them in two ziplock gallon baggies. Not good enough! Every time I brought the ice home, I always had to break it up when in those baggies, as it was always melted into a big clump. I used my meat tenderizer to do this, and it always put perferrations in the baggies. Made even worse now that baggies like them are flimsy and thin! Not cool! The first bag I got that I thought was reusable was from the American Bag Company, and I purchased it locally at Target in Eugene, Oregon in about December of last year, at a cheap price of $3. After about a month, I noticed the bag was missing some snaps. When I went to return it, they said they no longer carried that bag. I emailed American Bag Company, and they sent me a check of a $3 refund, which my bank declined to put in my account, as they said the check was in the wrong name! What a bunch of baloney as the name on the check is my actual name, Annabelle S. Baradine! So finally, I bit the bullet and ordered a new bag from Amazon in January. Boy was I glad I did. This bag, https://www.amazon.com/Superio-Insulated-Including-Reinforced-Refrigerated/dp/B07W6JYJMD/ref=cm_cr_srp_d_product_top?ie=UTF8&th=1, was not only stronger, and sturdy enough to hold up to 20 pounds of ice, but it also has what feels like 3 layers of protection. It even has a stronger latch of snaps, and every single snap was there! Not a single snap was missing! Sure the price was a little bit more, $15 versus $3, but it was worth every penny for me! That is, until two months later in March, the bag lost one of its latches, and the closure split down the middle on one side! Finally, I said, "I've had enough of this poor quality stuff, it's gettin' on my nerves that I've been smeckledorfed twice! I'm just gonna see if I can have my friend Tia make a bag for me!". In about the end of June or the beginning of July, I called her up and explained my situation, telling her that I wanted an ice bag that is of high quality and is completely reusable, and she said she'd be more than happy to help! I brought the original ice bag I bought on Amazon over to her house, and she measured it for me. I specifically asked if she could put a zipper on my new bag, instead of snaps, and I'd like some solid handles so it would be easy to carry and hold, and she said yes she would! The first thing she had me do was buy some fabric. So on July 12, off to Joann Fabrics I went with my provider, Kendra. I spent $40 on materials for this new bag. I bought some neoprene, which I hear is freezer-safe, and a zipper. Tia says I also needed something for the inside lining that would help to keep the ice cold, so I bought some cotton. I bought two yards of each fabric, so I'm sure I'll have some extra leftovers. I bought a zipper for $9.99, which is a sports-style zipper. I looooooooooooooooooooooooooove the fact that I got to choose what colors and patterns I want for this new bag (I chose gray for the neoprene, as black, pink, purple and red are not my colors! For the cotton lining, I chose sky blue, with a pattern of a night sky with stars! The zipper is also blue.), so not only is it 100% reusable (it'll even be machine washable and dryer friendly), but it's 100% personalized! That same day, Kendra and I dropped the stuff off at Tia's, and I asked her to make sure the zipper won't disconnect from the bag. She smiled at me and said, "Don't worry, my dear, I'll make sure this bag is so strong for you!". We discussed forms of payment and settled on a solid price. I asked her if she takes debit cards, but she informed me that she only takes either cash or checks. I said, "That's quite all right, I most certainly can pay you in cash.". She says it will only cost $80, which I say is not bad at all! Though my American mom said it's ridiculous! I told her, "Mom, Tia can charge whatever price she wants to, and you may think that's ridiculous, but I say she's being professional! I mean, what do you expect from an absolutely amazing woman who has $2000+ sewing machines and 20+ years of experience with tailoring?". Fast forward to the middle of August, I call her up, and she says she's finished making my bag! Hooray! I came to her house with my provider this afternoon, and I paid exactly $80. I said, "Here's four fresh crisp 20's!". I thought maybe I could pay more, but she says $80 is plenty! I sure can't wait to try this new ice bag, as she says she made it sturdy and strong for me!
