i cannot recommend thea enough! i was coming into town to visit family and had seen other reviews…read moreso threw a dress in my car that i needed altered and texted her to see if she'd have time on such short notice. we arranged for a time in the morning for me to bring it over and she carefully pinned it and we agreed on the alterations she would make. it's useful to know in advance that the only forms of payment she accepts are cash and check so i explained i'd need to stop at an atm because i don't travel with checks and don't even write many anymore and don't usually have cash on me. i already felt badly giving her such a fast turnaround time based on when i knew i'd be leaving town to drive back to seattle; i wanted her to confirm she would have enough time with all the other projects she has going to be able to complete my alterations without feeling rushed. completely by surprise, the *very same day* i dropped it off in the morning, she texted and asked if i could stop by at 7pm to try it on. my mind was BLOWN! i could not believe she had done all the alterations in the same day. the dress looks amazing and you'd never ever be able to tell it was altered, considering it was purchased from anthropologie. i'm a complete convert and client for life! i told thea that the next time i come to eugene i will contact her ahead of time and hope to drop off more projects. she is super sweet, clearly cares about her craft and is an amazing seamstress. what a find!!

I have given this a week to settle, but watching the continued impact of Karen's tactlessness on my…read moredaughter is a cause to give warning. We brought my daughter's wedding dress to Karen to be hemmed and have the straps shortened. Having one's wedding dress fitted should feel joyful. It's a gorgeous dress that she has chosen and she looks beautiful in it. It might have helped if she had said anything like that anywhere along the line, but M was left with very different feelings. When I asked about a small wrinkle at the waistline, Karen's response was that the dress was too small and couldn't be let out. (I thought the height of the strap might solve it.) When we got to the hem, M said she didn't really want her feet showing. Karen didn't ask how M liked where she pinned it, just said it couldn't be any longer. When it was clear M wanted to take another look at what she had done, Karen seemed to have a hard time shifting gears. She finally said she understood that M didn't understand what we were doing, but that we could look again. It all felt a bit strange. Karen may be very good at her craft, but diplomacy is not her strong suit. Noone wants to be told they are too big for their wedding dress and too ignorant to understand having their hem pinned. The process was awkward and uncomfortable and has had a lasting impact. We took our business elsewhere as M had no desire to see Karen again.

Very easy to work with, work well done in a short amount of time! I was pleased with the end…read moreresult(-:
