I have been to Palm Vally, Julington Creek and St. Augustine fish camps. This was my second visit to this location. Stopped in around 4pm for an early pre-concert dinner. Their blackened catch with Grits, Collard Greens and Tasso Ham Gravy is one of my favorite dishes of all time. The dish is plentiful and rich. Fish is always cooked well. The grits are creamy and thick. The collards have a bite with a hint of sweetness. Finally, no one would blame you if you wanted to bathe in the Ham Gravy. This location is tucked behind Old Towns main square with beautiful water views. Their icy fish display is weaker than other locations and the bathroom needed a decent dusting, but otherwise the place is spacious and clean. Staff is always friendly. read more

My wife and I came here for dinner. It's a lively place with a pretty good vibe. Unfortunately, we were not aware that reservations were needed, so we found two seats at the bar that worked out great. For dinner, we both went for seafood. My choice with the combination platter where I selected 3 options. The calms strips were by far the best selection of the three ... so tender! Next came the shrimp which were fine. Last was the cod which was a little disappointing as they were more like mini cod bites than a whole fillet ... which ultimately caused them to dry out when fried. All in all the food was quite good. And we received great service at the bar. Next time, I will make a reservation and grab a table outside with some water views. read more

I had actually expected a short wait since the parking lot was full. I had barely been seated before my server came and explained all the lunch specials. Food was excellent, everything tasted amazing. Top mentions were our actual dinners. The broiled fish platter had an amazing lemon butter sauce that really complimented all food on the plate. The scallops were huge and cooked to absolute perfection. The grouper was the special for the night and it truly did not disappoint, the fish was cooked to perfection and served over phenomenal mashed potatoes. Our favorite appetizer out of the 3 was the pimento cheese which wasn't actually spicy, only if you ate the whole jalapeño on top.. but the flavor did not disappoint overall. Well it started out great with an Old Fashioned and a Gimlet for my wife. Drinks were great and the smoked fish spread was ok for an app. Little dry and needed some cream cheese for sure. Finally made a decision on which seafood restaurant to go during our 20th wedding anniversary getaway. Decided to try fish camp and so glad I chose this place. We ended up sitting at the bar (we never do this) to avoid the wait and our bartender/ waiter was amazing and have us the specials. I had an old fashioned with wifey having a mule and both were amazing. Then we had the civeche appetizer which was amazing and fresh. I then went with the special halibut over rice and green beans (basic description but this dish was absolute fire) and wide had the bacon scallops entree with greens and grits (absolute fire as well). I had been given a recommendation from two people to come here for dinner before my last trip to historic St. Augustine so it was first on my list and it DID NOT disappoint. We started with some fish dip, fried green tomatoes, and I also had a cup of chowder. The chowder was piping hot and delicious. It was a perfect consistency- not too thick and not too watery. While the chowder was great, I cannot stop thinking about the smoked fish dip. The smoky flavor was delectable and not at all overpowering to the fish flavor. It was served with bread style chips. For dinner the table had an assortment of meals. Fish sandwich's, shrimp, ahi tuna, crab cakes, and the boil. I tried a little bit of everything and I did not have anything I didn't like. Even the coleslaw and fries were on point! I'm always a little wary of ahí tuna because it can be a bit too fishy for my liking, but this tuna was seared perfectly and had such great flavor. The fish sandwich was my meal choice and the flaky fish was beautifully breaded and crispy. The atmosphere was fun and casual. The place was pretty busy on a Friday night so it was pretty noisy inside but not obnoxious. We had a friend in town from South Florida and decided to take him here for dinner. The place was pretty full but we were quickly seated. It is a beautiful location overlooking the water. The bar is also a very nice and extremely big bar. The menu offers several appetizers and several entrees. I started with a glass of white sangria which was very refreshing. My friend had a martini with stuffed olives which he really enjoyed. For dinner I had the spicy shrimp linguine. It also had scallops and clams in the dish, and was a very nice portion. My husband had the broiled seafood platter. It included fish, shrimp and scallops, as well as potatoes and vegetables. Our friend had the shrimp and grits and he loved the dish. There are lots of overinflated reviews in St. Augustine, this is no exception. This is maybe slightly less quality food than Bonefish Grill or one of the bigger seafood chains. Nothing special here at all. Not a good value in general. Tuesday evening around 7:30. Party of 4. Came in and were seated immediately. Grilled octopus and white bean salad had a sashimi sized piece of octopus, sliced up and sprinkled a top about a quarter cup of white beans on a giant plate, which was filled the rest of the way with spring mix. For $11, not a good value. The Greek salad with olives and feta had literally five olives in it and maybe a teaspoon of feta cheese sprinkled over the top of the same spring mix that was with the octopus plate. This is basically a side salad more or less. For $11, a bad value. The broiled seafood platter had an average sized cod fillet that was overly salty. There were four broiled shrimp sitting next to it and 4 small scallops. This dish also included a heaping mound of potatoes and a nice little serving of some sautéed veggies with zucchini. That was the best part of the meal actually. The fish fillet was too salty as were the scallops. The scallops had some grit, which is usually something that comes from improper preparation. A large side of sautéed spinach was ordered as an accompaniment to this dish, and that seemed to apparently receive the brunt of the chef's salt aggression. It was so salty it could barely be eaten. I tried rinsing it in my water, but that only helped a little bit. Lol. Stop with the salt already. The salmon came out hot, but the potatoes underneath it were cold. This had obviously been sitting under a warming lamp, waiting for the salmon to be finished cooking before it was brought out. The waitress was informed of this and she was accommodating. She asked what we would like her to do. Some new warmer potatoes were requested, but at this point, the wind had gone out of the sails. The salmon was eaten, and the other giant mound of potatoes was left behind. The salmon was tasty and thankfully, not as salty as the rest of the food. The fish sandwich was also as you may expect, overly salty. It was however, well prepared. It had lettuce, tomato and tartar sauce spread on the toasted bun. The fish sandwich was pretty tasty, albeit it was deep fried. The kids, fish strips and fries were exactly what you would find at any of the coastal beach deep fried seafood restaurants. Deep-fried pieces of fish and wedge fries also deep-fried. Nothing strange here. The service was decent or I guess exactly what I would expect. Waters were filled, and she checked on us a couple times. In summary I would say the food at Bonefish Grill is probably slightly better than this place. Here they went way overboard with the salt and it made the entire experience a very forgettable one. I would not recommend this restaurant and we will not return here. read more

The batter was perfect, not too seasoned and not fried too hard. Loved the fired clams and scallops. The food came out pretty fast and our server was really good as well. She checked in throughout our dinner, but not in an annoying manner. She answered our questions and made a suggestions so that I was able to taste two meals. After dining at Fish Camp for years we were sadly disappointed this afternoon. My wife ordered the lobster special , soon after that we see through the window someone photographing a lobster dinner outside for marketing purposes (?) and then return to kitchen and then deliver a cold lobster to our table. We asked to speak to the manager who came to our table and we explained to him the situation. His response was "oh that was a different lobster" so we feel pretty sure that he was not being truthful at all being that the lobster was cold and we just seen it through the window sitting outside getting photographs taken of it. It was cold to the touch! After complaining to the manger, he did bring another lobster dinner. Additionally, my wife was also disappointed because I had finished my meal before hers was delivered.. Very sad. They comped the awesome oysters, which had nothing to do with the "lobster fiasco". Anyway we will move forward and probably not return. Thanks to all the wait staff over the years!
