We stopped into St. Augustine Fish Company for a drink and something light to eat, and I'll be honest, this one started out looking like a three-star review. We began with a bowl of Rick's All Day Seafood Soup. It was fine. Just fine. Nothing wrong with it, but nothing that had me ready to start writing poetry about seafood soup either. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The decor also struck me as pretty average.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] So, in my mind, three stars seemed about right. Then my wife got involved. She ordered the beet salad, and apparently I had failed to consider the possibility that the meal could improve dramatically once her food arrived. The beets were large, flavorful, and genuinely delicious. The feta added exactly the kind of salty, creamy pop that took the salad from "healthy choice" to "hey, this is actually really good." At this point, my wife reminded me that I needed to judge the entire experience and not just the bowl of soup I had chosen. And, as usual, she won. So, four stars it is. The seafood soup was average, and the atmosphere didn't exactly knock us over, but that beet salad was exceptional enough to change the final score. Sometimes the wife has the better Yelp review. This was one of those times.
I had been referred here by a colleague who comes to St. Augustine annually. St Augustine Fish Camp is one of his go to spots. It did not disappoint. Servers were good and the food was delicious. We got a gator tail bites appetizer and it was so good with the dipping sauce. Excellent choice, our main course was the pork chop with parsley potatoes and fries. My wife and I shared a meal and it was a lot to eat. Very good tasting food.
In town for a few days with my grandkids. Wanted some fresh seafood so decided on Fish Camp. Excellent food. I had peel and eat shrimp. Natalie, the server said my grandson could do the seafood boil for 2 for just 1 so he got that and really liked it. Granddaughter had chicken tenders (yea, goes to a seafood place and gets chicken) but asked for honey mustard. Natalie said they didn't have it but she could make it for her. That was great service. And granddaughter said it was really good too.
[[HIGHLIGHT]]Nice ambiance--very casual with a great view.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Semi-off the beaten path (from the downtown historic district) but worth the very short ride. Also, compared to our other dinners during our vacation this was an excellent price point. Clam chowder was good. Tuna was good but the entree as a whole left something to be desired (it was really just the tuna and some greens and half an avocado, not very filling). Star of the show was the grouper and the goat cheese grits, absolutely delicious and came out hot and fresh. Would come back just for this dish.
We came here for my birthday dinner with my parents. We had a reservation and when we checked in we were taken back to our table. Our server was super nice and when I asked about a specific pillar menu item not showing up on the menu, he said he'd check to see if he could accommodate my request (cod with a brown butter sauce and grits). He went back to check and they could, so I knew what I was getting. We started with the fish bites which were pan fried and over crispy potato straws. They were delicious! Next our meals came out. I loved my cod with the brown butter sauce and the grits. Delicious. My dad had the same thing and loved it, my mom Loved her oyster and clams dish, my son loved his chicken fingers and fries and my husband enjoyed his fish sandwich. We'll be back!
Happy to get a reservation at my "must eat at" restaurant. We had an 8pm and called to check if we could come in earlier and the delightful Emily said yes your table is ready! After some confusion we asked for the high top in the bar area and were seated promptly. Emily was wonderful checking on us and Don our server bartender kept up the hospitality. I had already decided based on menu and reviews what I would have and the octopus and bean salad starter was a must! Tender octopus, savory dressing and beans went well with our cocktails. The entree for me without hesitation was the grouper over goat cheese grits with corn. Oh my! Crispy crust flaky moist fish. My husband had an amazingly huge pork chop with a maple bourbon bacon sauce with vegetables and potatoes which was perfectly cooked. Very busy place with an army of servers and noise level high but we didn't mind. Great place great staff great food.
Super solid spot for good seafood dishes! Got the: - clam chowder: sooo good & flavorful, a bit potato heavy but i didn't mind it - crab chowder: full of crab, great flavor, very rich - oysters: nice & plump - gator bites: flavorful & chewy with datil sauce - fries in beef tallow: soooooo dang good - shrimp & grits: grits were nice & cheesy with juicy shrimp - blackened seafood platter: nice way to try a variety of seafood, but the fish & shrimp were overcooked and the potatoes and veggies were under seasoned our server alexa was amazing, overall the dinner was a bit pricey tho - might try other seafood spots before coming back
St. Augustine Fish Camp has a fun atmosphere and overall was a decent experience. The espresso martini was definitely a highlight and was smooth, well balanced, and a great way to start the meal. Service was friendly and the place has a lively vibe that makes it enjoyable. The only downside was the steak, which was chewy and had more fat than expected, so it did not quite live up to the rest of the experience. That said, I would still come back to try other menu items, especially for drinks and the atmosphere. The potatoes and vegetables were delicious and they made the overall meal better.
[[HIGHLIGHT]]Great place to sit outside overlooking the water with delicious seafood.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Especially enjoyed the low seafood boil which had more food than two of us could eat. Fried fish dish was very generous. Blue crab soup delicious but a little expensive ($10 for cup). Oysters fresh with nice sauces and condiments.
Be sure to make reservations to ensure you are able to dine here. Once you arrive and check in, you may be prompted to wait. There's a picnic table outside adjacent to the restaurant with wonderful waterfront views. The blackened mahi and grits were a great entree paring. A slight spice was noted with the mahi that added to the overall flavor. I ordered the potatoes as well and with a little hot sauce, were great. Enjoyable fresh fish restaurant with backcountry favorites.
I went to the Fish Camp restaurant after I got into town after a tiresome drive. It was near my hotel. I just wanted a decent drink and a good meal. (TLDR/spoiler: I got both!) There had to be 20+ people waiting to be seated. I asked how long the wait was going to be with no reservation on a Friday evening. They said all tables inside were already booked for the night; however since I was alone, they offered the bar as first come/first served seating. (Yes, you can get entrees at the bars.) I chose the smaller of the two bars. There were a couple seats available. (This was early around 5:30 pm on a Friday.) [[HIGHLIGHT]]It had a very relaxed vibe: chill and fun![[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] The bartender was amazing and attentive, even with so much going on. (Wish I took note of his name.) I got the Hot Mama drink which wasn't overly sweet and had a nice kick of heat! Loved it! Very well made! (The bartender told me before serving my second one, later, that he didn't think it was as spicy and he was willing to remedy that, but I didn't ask that of him.) I ordered the crab cakes for my entree. I traded out the regular vegetables for tomatoes & okra. The food was fantastic! The crab cakes tasted delicious! Not as "firm" (breaded) as a crab cake I usually get, and so much better flavor than usual! The potatoes were cooked exactly right. Not underdone and not mush, with a perfect amount of butter: lots! The tomato/okra dish had a really nice smoky-ness to them and the perfect amount of seasoning. I left, not only filled, but happy! I only ate half my meal, it was so filling! I later ate the rest as leftovers and they held up deliciously! I highly recommend this spot for great food, drinks, fun atmosphere, and it's right on the water! Do make a reservation if you are more than a party of 1-2 who don't want to sit at a bar! I can only imagine the wait, but well worth it.

St. Augustine Fish Camp is a true waterfront delight! Nestled right on the water, the setting alone makes it worth a visit--there's nothing quite like dining with gentle breezes and sparkling views all around. We started with the fried green tomatoes. They were tasty and nicely seasoned, though I've enjoyed even crisper versions elsewhere. Next up, the roasted beet salad blew me away: tender, earthy beets paired with just the right balance of greens and dressing--it was absolutely incredible. The side of smoked bacon butter beans was equally outstanding: creamy, smoky, and rich without being heavy. To round out the meal, I sipped on an Old Fashioned that was expertly mixed--smooth, perfectly balanced, and delightfully boozy. All in all, St. Augustine Fish Camp offers a gorgeous setting, inventive dishes, and top-notch cocktails. I'll definitely be back to explore more of their menu (and perhaps give those green tomatoes another shot!). read more

The Fish Camp served up the best seared tuna I've ever eaten. The flavors were outstanding together and the tuna was cooked perfectly. It was so good that I ate here twice during my stay at St. Augustine! read more

Went to dinner with the wife. Our waiter was hard to understand. He kept calling my wife my love. I wasn't offended but just not coming out right. Also the waiter would try and clean out our area when we weren't finished. After stopping him he was much better. To be clear he wasn't rude just difficult to communicate with. Anyway the meal was good. I had the spicy linguini that wasn't spicy at all. Had a lot of shrimp and scallops. My wife had the halibut special and it was very good. We both loved the clam chowder. We also ordered a full salad with vinaigrette. It was good also. Everything was good but not like the last time I came that it was great. This restaurant has a great ambience by the water. read more

On the expensive side for what it is. The cocktails were bad. We had the shrimp and grits, alligator tail, and clam chowder. The shrimp and grits were buttery and flavorful. It was any first Im trying this, and it was good. The alligator tail was super tasty. It reminded me of chicken. The batter was good. The clam chowder was also pretty tasty. The old fashioned drinks were terrible. Way too sweet. We clearly did not drink them and our waitress didn't bother asking if we liked them or not. Also, our waitress brought us the wrong food initially. Overall the food was good, just expensive. Drinks were bad, service was meh. I won't return. Wish I ate somewhere else. read more

Madison was attentive, suggestions provided options beyond the menu, we sat at the bar watching the Players Championship and it was so relaxing! The fish was delicious, the drinks were made to perfection and Prosecco was the crisp companion to the caviar! I can't wait to return! read more

Food was amazing, fresh and seasoned with a view of the water. I got the blackened fish tacos, shrimp and grits, appetizers were fried alligator; the alligator could have used a bit more seasoning. Our waitress was very helpful in picking the best dishes! There is also a little area to see some baby alligators that are behind a glass outside. read more

We kept looking for another place to eat this week and decided to just go back to Fish Camp for a second time this week because the food was so delicious and we knew nothing could top it. We love sitting on the back deck overlooking the water and yachts. Complimentary valet parking makes it nice too so you don't have to search and/ or pay for parking. read more

Wow! To start we had reservations...with St. Augustine traffic we were running a tad late. I called and the phone was answered by a delightful and pleasant Carlie. Carlie indicated she understood and advised she would do her best to hold our table. When arrived Carlie immediately indicated she had our table and seated us at a wonderful table with a view. The evening only gets better...our server Eddie started us off with drinks. Their Old Fashioned was great! We also started off with their Fried Green Tomatoes...WOW they are GREAT!!!! Then Eddie suggested some red shrimp...again great choice! We then split a mixed greens salad with flavorful butternut squash, goat cheese and candied pecans. For the main course, my wife had the blackened mahi with vegetable side. I had the salt and pepper seared tuna with sesame salad. I might say it was on of the best tuna dishes I have ever had! Walked in on a Thursday night, host was able to get the 4 of us in thankfully. Server was on top of her game from GO! We all ordered $2 Yingling beers during happy hour! We had pick 2 & pick 3 including shrimp, clams, oysters, linguine with scallops & shrimp and fresh greens salad with salmon. All of the food was fresh, hot, good sized portions and DELICIOUS! Celebrating 20th wedding anniversary and wanted seafood. We started with an old fashion made with their house bourbon, aka Buffalo trace and a mule. Both drinks were good. There was no wait time to eat at the bar, but about an hour if we wanted a table, we opted to sit at the bar. Recommend making a reservation, we didn't know but bar seating was fine with us. We started with the special for an appetizer which was the ceviche shrimp toastadas, they came out in a reasonable time and were sooo fresh. For dinner I had the special scallops in a half shell with the most amazing sauce. It came with 2 sides I choose the collars greens and grits. Both sides were very tasty. My hubby had the herb crusted halibut over rossoto with sauted Green beans. Everything was fresh and the wait time for the food was great. We will be back again for sure. read more
This was a fantastic late lunch! As it was rather hot out, we sat inside, but I want to return when the weather is cooler so we can sit on the porch and enjoy the San Sebastian River views. However, the dining room indoors was bright & pleasant, so that definitely wasn't a bad option. Parking was easy in their large lot, but I also noticed the Old Town Trolley gave them a mention when we rode by the next day. So I think they're a trolley stop or very close to one. Paige was our server & she was outstanding! Hubs ordered the fried platter with shrimp, fish, scallops, french fries, hush puppies, and cole slaw. I had a shrimp & bite of fish, and both were tasty. The red sangria was delicious! I also ordered the Fish Camp Shrimp & Grits - the grits in their creamy white wine butter sauce was an amazing combination. Y'all know I love grits but I also want to mention the large plump shrimp, because it was a huge serving and they were delicious. Finally, S/O to their matchbox swag. I hate giving hubs a match when he asks because what am I gonna do when they're gone? But seriously, I think of St Augustine Fish Camp every time I spot the matchbox hidden on my nightstand. Everything about this place was amazing! From the food to the service, it was a win all the way around. We arrived around 4:00 pm on a Wednesday. Thankfully, there was no wait. Our waiter was absolutely amazing! Unfortunately, his name escapes me as I'm writing this review a week and a half later. I have zero complaints about this place except I wish we had one here in GA! My husband tried the lion fish and it was really good! I had the shrimp and grits and my son had a fried platter. We were all very satisfied with our meals. Oh and the layout is nice and modern, very clean and inviting. We loved it! If you're ever in St Augustine, be sure to check them out. You won't regret it! read more

great spot! we got the gator tail for an appetizer along with clam chowder soups! both id highly recommend!!! the soup was very thick (tad bit too many potatoes) but still very filling and flavorful! I LOVED the gator so get that for sure - perfectly cooked and seasoned! for entrees we got the pasta and seared platter! both were delicious but i think id get the pasta next time as that was my favorite!! we were here for new years ever so a recommendation was necessary but seems like the place has tons of options for seating, but id still reserve ahead of time in case! popular place for sure!! read more

Shoutout to all our local community heroes! We want to especially thank this team that works like an award winning orchestra! From the staff on the phones responding to me asking for wait times to the joyful serve staff, to the cooks preparing masterpieces, and the bus staff cleaning tables so quickly to bless some more patrons. I have eaten here twice now and I have been treated with TLC!!! Tonight were had Natalie taking care of us on the back deck. She was so kind, personable, and attentive. She went over and above when she let us trade tables to get out of the breeze of this freakishly chilly evening. The wind was kickin'. We shared an earthy and healthy beet salad. Yummm, the cheese pairing!!! Hubby devoured his soup, before I even returned from the ladies room. We were sold on the Gorgonzola steak due to Natalie's knowledgeable description!!! And it was yummy!!! So savory!!! And the veggies were cooked to perfection... it is so easy to overcook squash. The ahi tuna was so tender.. it didn't even need sauce, but hubby loved the wasabi!!! I looooved the sesame dressing on the salad! The fresh and crispy salad paired so well with the dressing!!! Our friend ordered the fish sandwich!!! A generous portion of crunchy cod fillet... she had to take half home. And can I add myself to the fan club of the French fries here?!?! Yum! Hooray for beef tallow!!! We were too full for dessert! It has been over 2 years since we last visited SAFC and decided to celebrate La Jefa's Birthday and got reserved seats at 545 PM. Great ambiance, chill music, guests seem happy being there-and so are we! Ordered beers and sweet drinks and got appetizers-Calamari, Ceviche, and a dozen steamed oysters. They were all delicious as expected. For the main dishes, we got Grilled Salmon, the Pork Chop dinner, and the Seafood Linguini-just needed a pinch of salt I thought. Our server Kayla was awesome serving up Chocolate Mousse cake for dessert and has been very attentive throughout the evening. We will definitely be back :) #supportlocal904 read more
Nice seafood spot right on the water. We came in January so a little chilly but still nice to sit outside. They had heaters but we didn't need it. Good amount of parking on site and nearby and also a valet but we parked ourselves. We got the pimento cheese spread which was good but would be nice to have more bread with it. Salad was huge though! Also got the fried green tomatoes which was tasty. Our waiter Charles was great! Very friendly and attentive and quick to serve us. The shrimp and grits were amazing and same with the spicy shrimp linguine. Everything was very tasty! read more

We arrived early evening and were not greeted by a hostess and felt necessary to ask the bar tender if it was self seating. Shortly after that we were seated by a hostess that offered a choice of seating. The restaurant is clean and well maintained located just off the San Sebastián River and has beautiful views of surrounding marinas. This was our first time visiting and were previously told that the shrimp and grits were highly recommended. I will say they are very good but would rather have them with Cajun seasonings. We also ordered conch fritters and were disappointed in the small chewy pieces inside the nicely fried fritter. Recommended! read more
Food was absolutely delicious per usual!! We got shrimp ceviche that was so light and refreshing, fried gator with a delicious sauce and then their 2 special delicious with flounder and cod. We finished with the key lime pie and it was one of the best I've had in St Aug! We've come here so many times and the food never disappoints, but tonight the service was not the best. Our server was missing for almost 30mins after giving us water and walked past us multiple times when trying to order or get more drinks. It was fairly busy but it seemed to be the trend with the other tables there as well. But overall, we love this place and the dock by the water is beautiful for sunset. read more
The restaurant itself could a a little tricky to find. Not in the most populated area of St. Augustine, but it was situated by the water. We ate inside but had a very nice view. There were 8 of us who were in the area for a golf trip. That usually means 8 separate checks. No problem. I picked the venue using Yelp where I saw it had some great reviews and a very nice, not to highly priced, menu. We all started out with some celebratory libations. For me it was a martini. I believe that 3 or 4 of us ordered the Broiled Seafood Platter which consisted of flounder, shrimp and scallops. I don't know if this restaurant is related to the Fish Camp near Hilton Head, but the taste certainly was very good. It could pass for cousins. I'm glad everyone like it otherwise I would lose my right to pick the venue next year. read more
So good . We had not been in a couple of years & wanted to see if it's as good as we remembered. It is! Smoked fish dip was excellent. Gator bites were very tender & flavorful. The shrimp & grits are one of my favorites. Jake was our server at the bar & he is outstanding. Very open layout with high ceilings. Very clean. Super busy kitchen that's fun to watch all the goings on. Highly recommend. Pretty views too. read more
