Absolutely outstanding! It was highly recommended that we get reservations to avoid a wait at this restaurant. We took our chances mid afternoon on a Sunday and had no problem getting seated. Open for lunch (not Mondays) and dinner most days, check their website for hours as it does vary. Located just on the edge of the historic downtown area, with a dedicated parking lot and valet service, makes restaurant access pretty easy. We happen to bike over and we're pleased to find a bike rack just outside the door. The restaurant has a modern open vibe. There are not one, but two full service bars that offer that offer service/seating. Additionally, indoor and outdoor dining is available at this waterfront location. The menu has so many wonderful options that it was hard to make a decision. Our server was great and patiently answered our questions. We went a little crazy and ordered quite a bit. A throwback to my youth I had to try the clam strips and found them to be the absolute best I've ever had my entire life (move over Howard Johnson's - not many will get this reference)! We tried the chowder and the seafood soup, which were both excellent. The shrimp salad was very refreshing and crisp. The eat and peel shrimp were delicious with just enough spice. There are several Fish Camp locations in this region that include Jacksonville and surrounding area. First off, make a reservation if you can! We popped in on a Sunday evening with no Rez and the place is Uber popular and busy. We waited roughly 20-25 for a table but SO worth it. They catch their own fish daily ( just look outside at the dock and their fishing boat!) so if you are a seafood lover go no further. My hubby is, I am not, and being we are from the desert I am trying to fill him with as much fresh seafood as possible on this trip. Our service was outstanding, and the manager came by as well to check in which is a nice touch... and nothing that weird intrusive way. We started with the spicy pimento spread and I could have just eaten that with a spoon... who needs little bread pieces? My hubs got the seafood linguine and LOVED it. I opted for a wedge salad and side of fries (I know, loser order at this place but hey not a big seafood fan!) and the fries were super yum. Any time I get coastal it means seeking out the best local seafood place. We were staying overnight in St. Augustine so of course we turned to Yelp. Lots of 4+stars but we went with St. Augustine Fish Camp. There was plenty of free parking around the restaurant which somehow looks modern and rustic at the same time. We could see lots of outdoor seating but it was a balmy 95 and we opted for the AC. It was 3:00 ish but there were more than a few folks dining. We were seated promptly but then it was a bit of wait until our server showed up. In the time we waited we talked ourselves in to ordering too much food! We both had appetizers, cup of clam Chowder and alligator bites. The clam chowder was delicious and I was doubtful about alligator but these were tender and sweet. The sauce they were served with was super too. We both got platters with three choices. One of us got fish, oysters and shrimp subbing fries for collards. The other got scallops, oysters and shrimp subbing fries for butter beans. It didn't matter as we both got everything and I got fries and butter beans. We shared so no big deal but it might be an issue for others. Everything was delicious and tasted fresh. The scallops seemed excessively breaded but were tasty. Every time I visit Saint Augustine, I make sure to come visit Saint Augustine Fish camp. I always have an amazing experience and they are consistent. I've never had a bad experience. I always start with the calamari and the beet salad. Those two are a must have. For the entrée I like to get there special catch of the day. It is a very popular spot so get here early, especially if you want the special. Today the special was grouper served with a creamy sauce with potatoes and artichoke and spinach, delicious.I love to sit on the patio because it's right on the water surrounded by beautiful greenery. I have not one negative thing to say about Saint Augustine Fish Camp. From the location, the service, the ambiance, and for sure the food....five stars across-the-board!! A tiny backstory: My family and I lived here from 2016 to 2019 and when we left, we had a few "hometown favorites". When we returned on our most recent visit, five years later, we were sad to see most of them were no longer in business. We decided to try the fish camp after multiple failed attempts at trying new places. Boy are we glad we did!! Talk about a new favorite!!! When you first pull into the parking lot, the red brick building stands out against the bright blue sky, and it sits perfectly on a tiny piece of water. Once you're inside, you become one with the open kitchen and you are greeted with a smile. All of the staff were top tier...from the hostess, to our server (Jason), to the food runners, to the management (Joey)...they were all attentive and extremely helpful in any and all ways possible. Now for the food...you're in for a treat! The portion sizes are worth every penny! The fry on the seafood was perfect and the batter was so crispy and full of flavor. My family enjoyed everything we ordered: Whole fried snapper, a huge plate of fried shrimp, 3 orders of gator tail, homemade potato wedges and hush puppies, and a smoked fish dip that was bowl lickin'' good. Lauren made our night and our Anniversary much better with her service and recommendations. I enjoyed the special sword fish over mash potatoes and grilled broccoli with a mustard brown buttery sauce my husband had a fried seafood combination. My meal was delicious my husband wasn't too thrilled on the fried seafood seemed bland in flavor. We spoke to Matt the manager and told him how amazing tge service was and that Lauren kept us happy but the seafood combo wasn't that great. Here is the problem You are the amongst the most sought after places in town . We had to book to be there . But At least offer a modicum of decent service. If the food is going to take 45 mins a) tell us that at time of order placement and b) check in on us every 10-15 mins To top it all off , we ask for the check and the server starts clearing the table instead and needs another reminder for the check. The hostess then told my wife "for future reference you'll need to make a reservation". After a short wait we were escorted to two picnic tables outside overlooking the marina. I visited this fish camp with a friend and her family Sunday evening. Eddie was our server,and he was great! He was knowledgeable of the menu and very friendly and respectful. Everyone loved the food and can't wait to go back. We had the royal red shrimp and gator tail appetizers. Delicious! For dinner we had the Ribeye Steak and a fried basket. The seafood was cooked perfect without too much breading. The steak was great! I highly recommend. We didn't have a reservation, so we were sat outside. Wow! Everything was wonderful! Paige took great care of our party of 7. We had drinks, apps, meals, AND desserts! The hush puppies were the best we'd ever had. I had the brook trout with potatoes, bacon, arugula, and deviled egg sauce. It was all perfectly cooked and tasted great. We visited the fish camp many years ago when they first opened, the food and service was fantastic! However, we just visited again for a late lunch/early dinner, and were less than impressed with the service, and the food was just okay. Our waitress took a long time to even greet our table and get our drink orders. When she stopped by, she had an excuse every time as to why it was taking her a while to assist us. When we finally got our food, the food was okay, she convinced us to try their "off-menu" bay scallop appetizer, which was subpar at best and unbelievably small (very much misrepresented by our waitress). We also tried a bowl of their New England clam chowder, which was great, the clam strips (not my thing, but everyone else loved them), the spicy shrimp pasta (delicious but not spicy), a blackened mahi sandwich (good!), 1/2 order of shrimp and grits (great!), and shrimp po boy (fine!). Overall, the experience was just okay, and honestly probably won't be back to dine with them. I may catch a drink out by the waterside, but that would be about it. Sat outside on the dock which during the night time wasn't much but I imagine with some daylight it's a great setting for dinner. Part of the family of Fish Camp restaurants located around NE FL. This one is larger than the one in Atlantic Beach or PVB. Still, this place fills up with a crowd. Be sure to get reservations if you can plan in advance. The wait times can be long. Also if you have a reservation you avoid getting stuck at that table by the bathrooms. The interior is a brighter and less of a quaint "fish camp" vibe than the other locations. Try to get a table in the bar area for a more soothing experience. The catch of the day is usually very interesting. Last time I had a risotto with blackened grouper that was awesome. Red snapper du jour is also great. The seared tuna is a favorite. Eat a lion fish and protect our native species. Elk Cove Pinot Gris is a fantastic white. Head over to the Ice Plant for an after dinner drink. It's just a short walk. read more

It's really hard for me to give 3 stars to an establishment that produces exceptional food. We all know the kitchen is only part of the execution. The front of the house had a huge responsibility caring the full to final execution including all the dialogue. Here is where my story starts and stops! So my son and I sat at the bar and were greeted by a female bartender. It was not busy and an attitude she had. We requested beers and waters. Beers came but no waters. We ordered 1 dozen oysters to start and reluctantly at some point she advised us of the daily specials. Still no waters. Oysters came and lunch orders made. She literally took them with an attitude. Wew girl you need to check yourself at the door. Beers empty. Do you want more beers . No I would like the waters we ordered 30 minutes ago. My son requested another beer. Water came, beer delivered and we NEVER contacted by her again! I went to smoke and came back and saw an employee who looked like a probably a manager. Engaged him and told him just how terrible our service was. He acted engaged but nothing got better. She is truly a burned out bartender or someone there just doing the minimum for tips. Either way you need more training or another profession. Kudos to the kitchen for delicious food. Thanks to the runners that were doing the job of a burnt out bartender.
