Instead they provide a notepad and a handwritten sign to put your name down. In the 15 minutes we stood around waiting for some shred of customer service we witnessed one guy walk in, grab a menu then was followed by his wife. When my wife confronted this guy and his wife she stated "they had reservations". THIS PLACE DOES NOT TAKE RESERVATIONS AND THERE WAS NO ONE TO STEP IN FOR THE 6 OTHER PARTIES BEFORE THIS COUPLE that had "RESERVATIONS". Clearly they don't give a shit about their customers and STRONGLY DO NOT RECOMMEND! I guess they feel they have enough business they don't need future customers but if they're so busy then why be so cheap as to not hire a host/hostess? Just bad business practice.

This was extremely frustrating, as we had called in advance specifically to avoid this situation. If this was truly their policy, it should have been clearly communicated over the phone or at least before seating us--not after we had already committed to ordering food. As for the food, it was average and nothing memorable. Unfortunately, the poor service overshadowed the entire experience. We will not be returning.

My family member, who is disabled, and I felt extremely uncomfortable with the manner in which we were treated, as it was clear they were eager to close the register and the restaurant rather than allow us to finish our meal. Although the food was good, the customer service was deeply disappointing and felt extremely disrespectful. As a result, we do not plan to return. The owner's prolonged and uncomfortable gaze straight at us the entire time while trying to finish our meal made us feel so uncomfortable and unwelcomed that we ultimately left without finishing our dinner.

When I walked in, I noted that it is very small... with limited seating, and pretty bare bones in the aesthetics. Probably does a lot of take-out more than dine in. There was a strong odor of burned cooking oil that was off putting. The lady at the counter was friendly, and took my order quickly. They do not have any hot tea, which would have been nice on a cold day. So I got a coke. I sat down and had to move... as the sun was coming in the window and blinding me where I sat. Other patrons came in and had to move also for that reason. They brought my food out and placed it on the table, which was nice. Portions were decent sized. The breaded chicken in my Sweet and Sour Chicken was mostly breading... very little chicken (see attached photo). Breading was not crispy at all... a bit mushy (I suspect they use pre-breaded chicken that was frozen, which is becoming more common... blech! Hard to make that crispy, unless double fried). The sweet and sour sauce was a little bitter... which I associate with pre-made (sysco? Not made in house) sauce. Very thin, overly sweet and a slight bitterness. Rice was ok... pretty good actually. Some might say I am too picky? But with the meal, a coke, and a tip... this was over $20... and there are other places that do this meal better for about the same price.

And when many places (especially in Eugene, Chinese, it seems like) are closed Mondays this one is open and close Tuesday instead. Not a bad choice for Chinese American food.

I ordered Mapo, and it came with some steamed rice. I ordered it with Medium Heat, since this my first time here, and I have no idea what their spice levels are like. My Mapo had just the tiniest bit of spice... not much at all. I tried the chili oil that was on the table... and found it lacking in heat also, but flavor was ok. Mapo was decent... not very MA LA for those know the term... hardly any numbing Sichuan peppercorn in it that I could taste. So this is more of an Americanized version.... not the Chengdu version. Lots of sauce, and a good portion of tofu... enough that I brought over half home with me for later. Rice was ok... edges were kind of dry, so it was not super fresh. But I would eat here again... there are a lot of traditional Sichuanese dishes on the menu, and they even have meat skewers that I will have to try. Next time I will order HOT (extra Ma La)... and see if that does the job.
