There is an outdoor seating area but it was full today. Menu is fairly small. They have fish & chips, fish sandwiches, fish/shrimp salads and 3 types of grilled fish with rice. There are a few sides. There are also daily specials. We had a salmon sandwich with a side of fries and grilled yellowtail with rice which was the special for the day. The salmon sandwich (ordered no sauce or shredded cabbage) was good but nothing special. I'm sure the cabbage and tartar sauce would have given it a bit of zip. The fries were ok. The yellowtail didn't have much flavor until you out what tasted like a light teriyaki. It had brown rice which was nice & chewy and the sauce gave it flavor. You really have to cook fish with flavors like garlic, lemon or something to give it flavor. Service was really good. They were very willing to put things on the side or remove them. I don't think I'd go back. If it's nothing special, I'm not going to pay for a meal out.

He was excited about the uni and was talking about how the fish he orders is from Spain and how he really wanted to order another great cut of fish. The food was delicious, even down to the house sodas they have. We ordered the summer margarita with fresh berries, lime soda, cold beet appetizer, veggie donburi, chef's choice spicy trio hand rolls, chocolate mochi blackberry cake - and at the end Taro gave us 2 nigiri on the house. The house lime soda - usually soda is nothing to blink an eye at, but the lime flavor was fresh and just the right amount of sweetness. We were surprised by how good it was. The summer margarita was a delight, the alcohol and fresh summer flavors balanced perfectly so that neither overpowered the other. The beet appetizer was fun to try. Beets can sometimes be too earthy/muddy in flavor, but the nutty dressing paired with the salty, crunchy puffed chip paired well with the soft bites of beet. The veggie donburi bowl was much bigger than expected, and everything on it was good. The tempura tofu was well executed - silken tofu encased in a thin/crispy layer that tasted light and not greasy. The overall flavor of the bowl is akin to teriyaki, but less sweet and more of a deep umami and more smoky flavor. The handrolls had a good amount of fish to rice/topping ratio. The wasabi actually has some real wasabi in it, and the pickled ginger and soy sauce made every bite flavorful. Very filling. The fish were all fresh and tasted great. My partner who almost never eats meat couldn't resist and ate a piece of nigiri and loved it. The mochi chocolate cake was very unique and definitely worth trying. I find most chocolate cake too sweet with a generic cocoa powder flavor and too heavy. The texture of the cake is not too dense, but has a nice mochi bite to it while tasting a deep cacao flavor without it feeling too heavy. The sweet/richness is just right paired with bites of fresh blackberries. Honestly, may be the best dessert I've eaten so far this year. The interior is well decorated and pays homage to Akira the anime. The hostess who greeted us seemed stressed and it definitely showed on her face the whole night. But, our server was kind and attentive. Despite the handrolls taking ~20 mins to show up, the food was delicious and worth the wait. There is so much more to try on the menu. I wanted onion rings but was told that it's a "sweet" onion which is not my preference for onion rings. The drinks had great presentation - the seasonal Italian soda (spiced pear & cantaloupe) was a unique combination but was a very good call. I would highly recommend giving this place a shot as it was priced well and customer service was top notch

I had a wonderful experiences at Spring House! The service was excellent and ambiance is great! At times, the location can be a little crowded. All the dishes we tried were wowzers, but the baked egg fried rice was the standout - highly recommend giving it a try. They also offer great options for takeout, which is super convenient. The portions are great to share and to eat family style. Overall, it is a fantastic spot for delicious Chinese food. I'll definitely be coming back! read more

I can only remember twice that they screwed up an order, one missing the sweet and sour chicken entirely. How you manage that one, I'm still not sure. But it happens, and since it is rare and during the plague, I wasn't complaining, as I knew that was a challenge in itself. It is the only Chinese food in the Thurston area, so they definitely have a corner on that market for people looking for something close to home there. It is still better than Lok Yaun, but not as good as Chopstix. Would I return? Yes. For the price and amount of food, it's a good deal to fill me and my husband up, and still have some leftovers. I wouldn't really go out of my way to eat here, but it is certainly decent.

My General Tso's chicken arrived quickly also... and I noted that it was actually prepared with some chilis fried in the oil as it should be. Chilis were on top of the chicken as decoration. The chicken was crispy, and delicious... all white meat. The sauce was very good too... tasted as it should. This dish should always have a little bit of heat from peppers, since it is meant to be a little spicy. It had just enough spice to be noticeable, although not spicy for my palate (I love spicy food). Some people might find it a bit spicy though. Large portion too... YUM! The crab puff were good, just cream cheese in a wonton wrapper, not sure how much actual crab there was, lol.
