    Lots of fresh hot dinner!!

Everything I have said about Chen's is still true. I am adding this update after the recent ice emergency because once again, Chens to the rescue. Janie, front of the house staff, is always friendly and efficient and on a day when we had no power and the entire world was encapsulated in ice, she and the owners came to work and provided us with a delicious hot meal full of vegetables. As usual, there was so much we had leftovers to heat up on our Camp stove back at the house the next day. We CHG!!

OMG! Even bad Chinese food is generally edible. This was THE worst take out I've ever had. And I've had a lot of take out. I don't even know... There are no words to explain how bad this food was. They literally took a tiny egg roll and tried to turn it into a spring roll. Absolutely no flavor whatsoever in anything else we ordered and WTH is up with those fried shrimp? They are square??? And have a gross gelatinous texture. $45 went straight into the trash. Who fucks up American Chinese take out?

IT was a dark and stormy night. Suddenly my tummy growled from hunger. Beloved bride was recovering from her Olympic Gold Medal at Cookie Tossing. After most every meal being on the TV tray in front of the TV -- the dining room table and the kitchen table still covered with tchatkes from Christmas -- I had to go out for a meal. Chen's Happy Garden is about a 7 minute drive from my house. They offer multi-item dinners for an affordable price! I can call for pick-up and not have to worry about dishes. I called and ordered a #5 dinner: Almond Chicken Subgum Chow Mein, Fried Shrimp, Sweet and Sour Pork, Pork Fried Rice -- $12.75. I won't endevour to comment on all the dishes. None were sub-par. None were excellent. All were nothing I would go out of my way for. But for convenience, quick service (15 minutes), LEAK PROOF PACKAGING and cost effectiveness - given the same circumstances, I'd do it all over again. Nobody want's to see a bowl of "ah fooey" (everything dumped into a single pot or bowl), so I'll leave the menu from zmenu and post a picture of my dog. https://www.zmenu.com/chens-happy-garden-eugene-online-menu/

Small hot and sour soup next to the smallest size of egg drop soup. Small is just a few bucks more. No soup to go though.

Good is good. I think takeout might be the way to go. Dining in was muggy and service is so-so. So solid take out.

Honestly, thank god for authentic Chinese food…read more This is the best place you go to in Eugene for delicious handmade dumplings and noodles. Came in mid-afternoon on the weekend and the place was busy. We were seated immediately and received our food ~10 mins after ordering. We ordered the spicy and sour beef noodle soup, veggie dumplings, and scallion pancakes. There is an option to adjust the spice and numbing levels to your dishes. The food came out steaming. The veggie dumplings were flavorful and the wrapping was just thick enough to make 10-dumplings a hearty meal. The taste profile is similar to what you'd find in Northern China, and there is chili oil/vinegar/soy sauce at the table for you to make your own sauce. Scallion pancakes were deep-fried and on the thin side. They were more oily than the homemade ones I'm used to, but the crunch and flavor on them were nice. The sour and spicy beef noodle soup (opted spicy and numbing) was yummy. You can tell the noodles were handmade and they had a good bite to them. The beef was tender, the bok choy was a nice refreshing balance to the bold flavors of the dish, and the tea egg was a nice addition. The soup was quite sodium-heavy and oily, but the flavor was quite authentic and still yummy with the numbing spice kicking in towards the end. The interior is clean and has a viewing window at the front where you can see dumplings being made in real time.

Grad day but came early while the ceremonies were still going on. Able to get a seat for 6 for lunch right away. Casually elevated interior. Friendly and direct staff. - pork wonton in spicy sauce - their version of chili wonton. Very flavorful and not too spicy - sichuan spicy dry noodle - mala spice which numbs the mouth a little but not overbearing - sweet and sour pork - I always order this dish. It does come on the saucier side so I recommend a side bowl of rice

My wife found China Kitchen and saw the positive reviews, so we decided to give it a go. It was super quiet! There was only one other couple there for lunch. No music, tvs were off. It was kinda nice. The menu is pretty extensive. I meant to get a picture, but didn't - I'll try to remember if we go back. The food was great! Very large portions. We each ordered an entree & we could've easily shared one. If/when we go back - we'll probably order a couple of entrees for the family (5) & some rice for each of us & just share it all. The "spicy" Kung Pao chicken was great! The vegetables were cooked just right - crisp, but cooked. I say "spicy" because the menu lists it as spicy, but it wasn't "hot." It had a great flavor. My wife ordered the cashew chicken & it was good as well. If/when we're craving Chinese again - we'll definitely be ba

I was about to drive out to Portland area to find it but Yelp help me find this place that was only 6 mins away. Thank goodness! On the outside, I wasn't sure if this place was open, but as soon as I opened the door, I see there were people dining and the hostess greeted me right away. I informed her I wanted to do take out, so she handed me the menu. I was impressed that they had some dim sum items to choose from and was thinking this will be the best surprise for my daughter! I ordered some basics and the century egg and pork jook (congee). The wait wasn't long and the items were packed nicely. I wish they added some yellow mustard and shoyu to dip but maybe it's something I should have asked for. Overall, I'm am glad this place exists. The food is good, the flavors are there but be aware, price point is pretty steep but hey, it's probably the only place in Eugene that serves legit Cantonese dim sum and congee.

They use medium/smallish shrimp instead of the large, high-quality stuff. The intestine tract is left on some of the shrimp, leaving a muddy flavor that I just don't like. The chow fun was just okay. It is passable if you cook it longer and add more sauce at home.
