We frequent the other location and the service and food are always on point! Super friendly, professional and quick. This location, far from what we've experienced. We wanted to try this location and was sorely disappointed. First there isn't even a hostess to take our name and inform us of a wait time. ABSOLUTELY NO ONE! Instead they provide a notepad and a handwritten sign to put your name down. In the 15 minutes we stood around waiting for some shred of customer service we witnessed one guy walk in, grab a menu then was followed by his wife. When my wife confronted this guy and his wife she stated "they had reservations". THIS PLACE DOES NOT TAKE RESERVATIONS AND THERE WAS NO ONE TO STEP IN FOR THE 6 OTHER PARTIES BEFORE THIS COUPLE that had "RESERVATIONS". I really like Mapo Tofu... and make it at home often. But occasionally when I get lazy, I will eat it at a restaurant. First time for Mapo at Jade Dumpling, and it was good! I ordered it with Sichuan Peppercorn (apparently you have to ask for it?) and medium spice. It was excellent... more flavor than some of the other local restaurants I have tried. The soup dumplings were perfect, steamy and full of flavor. The orange chicken was honestly the best orange chicken I have ever had. The fried rice did not need any sauce at all. The dumplings with the spicy sauce were incredible, and the dandan noodles were rich, flavorful and so satisfying. The inside is super cool, quaint and cozy. It has such a fun little atmosphere. Unfortunately, had a very average experience at Jade Dumpling - we ordered the Xiao Long Bao = good but not enough filling, very small shrimp wontons = best thing we had here, only ruined by an overly salty broth Meatlovers fried rice = remember the generic Chinese fried rice you had as a kid? This was the worst experience I've ever had at a restaurant. When we came we checked in on a kiosk to get in line for a table. We kindly put in our information and waited. After 30 minutes our patience was really being tested but we decided to continue to wait. After an hour of waiting we were concerned and went inside to check what was happening. After going in to check, we saw that many other parties, WHO WERE NOT THERE BEFORE US, were being seated. These parties were about the exact same size as ours. After we went to ask why they skipped over our reservation, they said we had to wait for 3-5 more minutes. It took 8 more minutes. I rarely leave negative reviews, but the service we experienced today was honestly frustrating and disappointing. We came in before the rush -- the restaurant was about 80% empty -- and politely asked for a booth. The male server immediately refused, saying booths were only for parties of six. That alone felt unnecessary given how empty the place was, but fine, we moved on. Then things just kept getting worse. There were only two of us, and we ordered multiple dishes including a noodle soup. I asked for an extra bowl so we could share, and he brought out a tiny rice bowl. I clarified and asked for a proper bowl suitable for soup -- he flat-out refused and said that was the only type they had. That made no sense. I had to ask another server for the THIRD time, and she brought the correct noodle bowl right away. So clearly, it wasn't "the only bowl" available -- it was just poor service and unwillingness to help. To top it off, we also ordered a side of rice... which he completely forgot. How hard is it to accommodate simple, reasonable requests when the restaurant isn't even busy? The food might be fine, but the service alone makes me not want to come back. read more

Gluttony definitely took over me as I had ordered sweet and sour soup, dan dan noodles, chicken with chili pepper, and shrimp pork xiao long baos all to myself. As excited I was to eat the food, I honestly thought the food was ok. The biggest disappointment was the dan dan noodles. It lacked flavor. The chili oil was lightly drizzled so all I really ate was the noodles and minced pork. The chicken with chili was ok but wasn't crispy. I did think their sweet and sour soup was tasty but once the rest of the dishes were served I completely abandoned the soup. Today everything was quite lacking in flavor and almost felt like I was just eating dumpling skin/noodle without flavor. The honey walnut shrimp was definitely the best item overall as the shrimp were huge and the batter was tasty, but it had way too much sauce. The fried noodles were especially lacking, the meat all tasting bland and the noodles were unflavored and almost soggy. They also got cold almost instantly. The soup dumpling has a lot of soup but they don't have flavor in the soup. The beef dumplings were ok but just lacking too. The pan fried pork dumplings had a good crust, good skin, but again the inside had no taste.
