We stopped in for dinner while we were visiting the area. This was a great little place that I would recommend and certainly go back to next time we are down that way. The service was fast and efficient and the food came out fairly quickly as you might expect. Lots of flavors and spice in the dishes. The Kung Pao Chicken was probably the only dish I wasn't impressed with out of our order. It was just kind of strange. The Dan Dan Noodles were delicious and the dumplings, pork buns, all delicious! I just moved to Eugene a day ago and needed a good place to eat, after moving from one state to another. I always find that Asian food hits the spot when I'm really hungry, so I looked online for a place that "the locals" rated highly and I came across "Jade Dumpling and Noodles" on Willamette. Let me just say that the fine people of Eugene didn't steer me wrong! My oldest son loves dumplings and I love noodles (really any type of Asian food), so this place was a gem! We ordered 3 different kinds of dumplings, shrimp, pork and a spicy pork and they were All Delicious! These "soup dumplings" were small and bite sized but were packed with huge savory flavors! They are made right there and are amazing! I myself had the mixed noodles. House made noodles with beef, chicken, shrimp and vegetables, stir fried in a delicious lite sauce, that enhanced the flavors of the dish, without overpowering it. You could taste all the ingredients and they were fresh and delicious! I cleaned the plate and now I can't wait to return to Jade Dumplings and Noodles again and try their other dishes, that I know will be tasty! The staff is very friendly, helpful and attentive. Went here again after some time not having been to this area in town. Food was way too spicy for me, the Dan Dan noodles were teary-eyed spicy. I couldn't eat it so took that home for our son who absolutely loves spicy food. The everything fried rice tasted like an ashtray so smokey, and not in a good way. I know it is supposed to be smokey flavor but this was over the top. I enjoyed the spicy long bao. The General Tsao chicken however was mediocre with too much spice, too much breading and did not come with any kind of veggie at all, or even with rice. Service was strange being ignored by our busboy but he did bring us left overs boxes. Too many and seemed pissed that we did not want to use them all. We left the fried rice. I visited today and was disappointed with the service. No one asked what we wanted to drink. The server simply brought ice water and our plates, then walked away without any interaction. Because the service was poor, I chose to leave a custom tip for 12%. However, the staff told me they would charge me at least 15% because that is their standard. I found this very strange. Customers should be able to decide how much to tip based on the service they receive, but the only options available were 15%, 20%, or 25%. This was a very disappointing experience. read more

I'm not sure what all the hype around this place is. I went here with my partner and friend for dinner tonight and it was just okay. We arrived around 6:45pm and left around 8pm. We got a table immediately, they just had to clean it first because it was never cleared after the last people left. They seemed to be slow to clear all of the tables while we were there. There were a lot of people waiting for takeout so we were hoping it would be good. Once we sat down we got menus and started looking over them. The one runner was also the person taking orders and handling takeout orders so he was incredibly busy. There were two people working the kitchen and one person doing the dishes in the back. The server took a while to take our order since he was so busy, but he was very nice the whole time. We got the chicken fried noodles, chicken dumplings, and chicken bao. The food was just alright. The noodles were really wet, like they were just pulled out of water and mixed in with the rest of the ingredients and not actually cooked in a wok or a pan. The chicken didn't have much flavor and my partner said it tasted a little off and he was a little worried about it. He seems fine so far but time will tell if he's sick later. The bao was just fine. It didn't have a ton of meat inside and the filling included corn kernels which I had never seen before. It was kind of off-putting. It tasted alright but wasn't anything to write home about. I didn't taste the dumplings so I can't speak to how they were. The restaurant itself could use a good deep clean. It's small and unassuming with decent parking and a handful of tables. It was a busy night for them so they had a lot of people both at tables and waiting for takeout. People were even waiting outside in the cold for their food to be ready so we really thought it would be good but I just don't get it. Maybe it was just an off night for the kitchen. Fantastic! Hands down the best Chinese food in Eugene. We come to Eugene every year to visit family and I can't believe it took this long for us to discover this little spot. The dan dan noodles were very delicious - nice kick, bouncy, fresh, and with a generous amount of ground pork. Only $6.99 too! (Yes, it's a "side" noodle dish but restaurants typically over charge for it.) The pork xiao long bao was tasty as well - the skin was not too thick and it was juicy!! Exceeded my expectations. The crispy chicken with chilis was still good but our least favorite out of the 3. Flavor was good but the chicken could be crispier. Good portion size though! Comfort food with a bowl of rice. Jade Dumpling & Noodle House has a couple locations, including this one on Williamette. A lot of the typical Asian items to get here. There's also plenty of vegan and plant based options. By using the name of the place as a guide, we had an easier time making choices. It's a pretty big menu. They have dumplings and noodles, obviously. After that, just choose whether to get meaty or plant based. It's about $10 for the Vegetarian Dumplings. These are filled with Shepherd's Purse and shiitake mushrooms, and vermicelli. At the time they only had carryout. There was a good amount of dumplings and they were filled, and filling. Good stuff as far as dumplings. It's located on Williamette in College Hill. I lived in Taiwan for 11 years so it takes a lot for a Chinese restaurant here in the states to impress me. This one did. I had the Sichuan Spicy Dried Noodles because I was on a road trip and did not want the soup that was also tempting. I was disappointed that the chicken was not as tender as I had expected being that it was advertised as steamed chicken. Had it checked that mark, this dish was easily a 5. Pan-Fried Pork Bun - 5 - It took a few minutes to find a place to park and eat. Because of that, whatever soup that had been in the bun had been absorbed by the bun itself. I decided to try this restaurant while on my roadtrip since I was craving some Chinese cuisine. I ended up ordering the shrimp boiled dumplings and the Sichuan dry noodles from the app to pick up and everything went smoothly. As for the reason why I gave it 3 stars would be because of the food, more specifically the noodles. Although the noodles had a good flavor, it was overfilled with oil, which made it hard to eat at the end. The shrimp dumplings were decent but also not my favorite. The skin of the dumplings had a good chew but the fillings seemed more like a shrimp paste, which isn't what I was expecting. I ended up paying almost $40 for both, definitely not cheap. read more

If you love noodles and dumplings, do yourself a favor and try this restaurant. It's a small, non-assuming business located in a strip mall. But the food is delicious and satisfying. My favorite dish was the Spicy & Sour Cucumbers, followed by the Dan Dan Noodles. We did get the chicken Bao, and while it wasn't quite the same level as the Cucumbers, it was still quite good. This is the place that does Chinese Food to perfection. The dumplings are small and not greasy. I personally don't like bow because it's too much bread, but that is the nature of a bow dumpling. I like the small ones that are steamed and if you're not familiar with dumplings you should start with those Secondary maybe some potstickers I would have them steamed as opposed to fried because I don't like fried food and the ingredients have more flavor when they're steamed than when they're fried. I tell you that cause I've read some of the reviews and realize that there's some people that don't understand what makes Chinese food different than other cultures styles of food preparation. I go to the Bev Street restaurant frequently usually once a month when I drive in from Florence an hour and a half to Eugene. The Metropole bakery down the street does one of the greatest American versions of a baguette with seeds. Highly recommend it next time you have a meal where you want a slice of bread or a shred platter with cheese and prosciutto, etc. this is the bread to use. Getting back to the menu that I've listed these to me are the primary ingredients that you must try first if you would appreciate the quality and freshness of this particular restaurant. If you are familiar with Chinese Food and know your way around, I would also try the string beans and some of the other dumplings. I've also always been fond of seaweed salad and serve served with a broth. Oh, by the way, the menu item of the Cole sesame noodles I ordered to take home to have the next day or two as a lunch hit. No matter when you have it it's delicious. I also go as far as to add a little bit of peanut butter to it, which is the way they make it in New York City where I was raised. Enjoy this place. I think these are the best dumplings I've had in Eugene! The service is fast, the food is authentic, and the vibes are just what you need when you're craving Chinese. We ordered quite the spread, and holy heck it was good. Mapo tofu? Incredible. The sauce was flavorful and was delicious with a bowl of hot white rice. The eggplant was tender and full of umami flavor. Up next, the dumplings. Every single item was clearly handmade to order, and wow these dumplings were impressive. The soup dumplings had the perfect broth to filling ratio, and were delicious with a splash of vinegar/soy sauce/chili oil. The pork wontons in spicy sauce may have been my favorite. The dumplings were steamed perfectly and the filling was so savory -- chefs kiss! Another favorite of mine are the green beans -- you MUST get them. They remind me of the ones at Din Tai Fung (IYKYK). As far as the physical restaurant goes, it's located in a smaller strip mall with a smaller parking lot. The restaurant is in a smaller space, so if you have a larger group I recommend calling ahead so they can prepare. Love the concept too since they're typically only pork. Tasty Steamed beef buns with perfect flavor. Shrimp wontons soup was a pretty simple dish prepared well but came alive by adding the soy sauce, black vinegar and chili oil on the table. Yum! Mixed fried noodles had a generous amount of proteins and everything about it was on point. Green beans were fabulously garlicky - exactly what you'd expect in this dish. The first time I went, I wasn't sure what to expect. But Jade definitely deserves all the recognition that they've received. Their entire menu is delicious and you can tell that they put lots of time and attention into crafting something wonderful. In particular I always order the Dan Dan Noodles ($6.99 and filling!) and the Stir Fried Green Beans to show friends. Their dumplings are excellent and the noodles taste just as good as you would expect for handmade. The service has always attentive and quick, even when it gets busy. There's not a ton of seating and they don't take reservations, so time of day is an important factor when deciding when to go. They are open most holidays as well, which makes it a lovely, cozy place to gather and share a meal with loved ones. read more
