Hand made, in house foods are fabulous. There are many things I want to try on future visits. The decor wasn't ready that cool. Christmas and Halloween decorations are still up. There's also a messy taped up electrical cable that looks as if they just don't care about their restaurant. Our server did an adequate job but seemed to be distracted. Things like the tea arriving long after the food and only after being reminded twice. We'll still return to try more of the fun foods. read more

i would absolutely come back for their pan fried shang hai bao zi and wonton in sichuan red chili oil!! their wontons are the next best thing to the chili oil wontons at din tai fung (imo)! it tastes homemade and the sauce is quite vinegary. the meat filling was seasoned so well!! the bao zi could have been pan fried a little bit longer and have a bit more meat filling. again, the meat filling was seasoned well and inside the bun was a soupy! this was the first time i tried mapo tofu ever. it was missing the minced meat. definitely had a spice kick to it. we received our food pretty quick, and everything came out piping hot. the distance from the chair to table is pretty far away. your typical Chinese restaurant vibe!! read more

Based on reviews I wanted to fall in love with Bao Bao but it was not meant to be - for me at least. Busy was a good sign and clean and pleasant ambiance. But out of the five dishes ordered only one stood out which was the steamed BBQ pork buns (Cha Siu Bao). Everything else was very disappointing. The wonton in red chili was second but a little "slimy." The Pineapple Seafood Fried Rice was so-so and no one took seconds. The Spicy Popcorn Chicken was burnt. Last of all was the Pork Wonton Soup. I liked almost all the food except the bao zi. I'm starting to realize that I'm just not a big fan of pan fried buns. They are just too chewy for my liking. Although their bao zi was pretty big and has soup inside. I did think it was saltier than the xlb but might be because there was shrimp too. This place does not stand out from the street, but I'm glad I found it and everyone should try. Looking at the menu, I can tell it's more authentic as they don't have typical Americanized Chinese dishes. I tried their wonton soup and it was perfect. The wontons have so much flavored packed and the broth is of simple taste. Great balance. I liked that they put a lot of mushrooms too. I wish they offered wonton soup with noodles too. Service is fast, but the server just took my order, served food and never really checked back on me. The restrooms need updating and it did not feel very sanitary. My partner and I came in early at 11:30am. There was only one other table and unfortunately my toddler kept whining. The server was amazing and continuously tried to help us soothe him. Obviously, I walked out for a bit to have my toddler stretch and relax. We weren't outside to long when our food was brought out. We ordered the special noodles with brisket and it was amazing! The broth was hot and tasty. The brisket was soft and basically melted in your mouth. Then we ordered a pan fried pork and shrimp baozi. Those where also tasty, fluffy, warm. We have been here quite a few times so we have some favorites and continue to also try new things. Our kids love the pork dumplings so we always order multiple orders of that. We have tried many different fried rice and noodle dishes as well as bao buns. The service is often friendly but sometimes slow. It used to be Rice Hill, but now the Bao Bao House is a must visit on our Oregon road trips. Conveniently located close to I5, we love to stop here for a quick lunch or dinner while making the long drive. It is an unassuming place with nice service and some of our favorite dumplings and pan fried buns. I always get the Pork XLB and Cha Siu Bao. I really should branch out. Some of our other roadside stops tend to have longer waits, and we've had only good experiences here. read more

I love bao. This place, no exception. The bao was delicious. However, during our meal our server was seen numerous times picking his nose, cleaning out his ears and even picking his teeth at the register. All within public view and close proximity to the kitchen and food prep. At one point, he took a tooth pick, picked his teeth, set it on the counter at the register and then picked it back up to clean out his ears. Needless to say, I will not be returning. I am appalled and frankly grossed out. I should have left, but I hate public confrontation. This has become one of our favorites when we come back to town. I forget how awesome it really is. Quickly seated and watered. Many choices for bao, noodle, soup based meals, as well as appetizers. The flavors are what sets this place apart from the others. The chicken noodle option and the won ton soup is 10/10 flavor wise. Great open seating area with high ceilings and modern appearance. A family with small kids spent time watching the processing of their food through the glass observation area into the kitchen. Very clean and service oriented staff complete the experience. Someone told me to check this out in passing and I'm so glad I decided to listen to them lol. Food here was very good. We only 2 small plates because we wanted to try out other food in the area. The service was great. We got our food within about 10 minutes. The staff was friendly. The bao's here were some of the soupiest I've ever had. The best part was the bottom was slightly fried, so it had a bit of crunch too. It was great. I added in some chili oil and soy sauce, and it was over the top! Worst experience EVER of my life!! All 4 of us ordered different items and they all came out at different time and freezing cold. The waitress WOULD NOT make eye contact even though after the second meal was brought out I begged her for utensils, plates and napkins so at least of of us could eat!! We are here on our way through Eugene heading to Texas. The reviews looked good so we decided to give it a try. The steamed/fried buns we had were so so. Not the highlight of our meal. But the noodle dish we got was outstanding. Well, after the mix up that is. We ordered the hot version and they brought out the cold version. After flagging down our server this was quickly resolved. They were very tasty. They even left the cold entree which we gave to some homeless street kids outside the restaurant. We'd definitely stop in again if traveling through town. On Christmas Day, our options for food were slim, and we visited Bao Bao on a whim after calling to check if they were open with no response. We were so glad we took a chance on this place, because our meal was just what we needed - hearty, filling, and delicious! The seating process was hectic, as the only server was answering phones and taking care of customers in the restaurant. Someone leaving joked that we just needed to "stand around and linger and they'll eventually find you". We were seated in about 15 minutes at a clean table and immediately served water. We got their new pineapple seafood fried rice, served in half a pineapple and packed with flavor and a good amount of shrimp and squid. This was by far my favorite dish. The cucumber salad was unique and unlike other versions I've had before at Din Tai Fung and Dough Zone. The cucumbers seemed to be flash fried then seasoned. It had a bit of a kick to it! I've been to the downtown location a handful of times but this new one in Springfield is closer to where I live. I wanted to check it out and see if it compares! Well it does. The food and service are just as good. Today we grabbed their veggie dumplings and veggie fried rice without egg. The dumplings I ordered pan fried for that layer of crunch on the bottom. The filling is soft and warm with wilted spinach and tofu that's savory and comforting. The fried rice comes with a mix of fresh veggies but my favorite little bits are the mushrooms. They seem to be marinated and add a nice salty, umami and chewy bite that's just so tasty. I always top everything with their chili oil, soy sauce and black vinegar too. You can't go wrong with some extra flavor! If you're vegan or vegetarian and wondering if it's worth a visit, this is definitely one of those places that does their veggie dishes right. read more

Shopping in the area and feeling a little hungry we saw this from across the street--immediately wondered if it is the same as Park Street location in Eugene. We walked in for a late lunch and were told they are indeed the same. This location has been only open for about 6 months. Only a couple of tables were occupied during our visit. The restaurant is spacious and bright--I noticed the calligraphy artwork on the walls. We ordered the pork shrimp bao zhi buns (6) and hand made pork dumplings (10). It took about 10-15 for our order to be served, but it was worth the wait. The buns & dumplings were served piping hot. Both the buns & dumplings exceeded our expectations; the dumplings were juicy and tasted excellent dipped in a vinegar/chili oil dipping sauce. The 2 dishes were plenty for 2 and we even had leftovers to take home. Definitely worth checking out. No need to look for parking like downtown, there's plenty of parking here. read more

I've been to Bao Bao House twice, and have enjoyed it both times. The first time we tried two types of baozi- shanghai and beef curry, and the pork steamed dumplings. It was all delicious. I preferred the curry beef, my dad preferred the Shanghai. The texture of the meat in the Shanghai was off putting to me though. I liked the pork dumplings, so decided to try the wonton soup the second time. With cha sui bao. The broth on the soup was ok, I liked the mushrooms and greens. The wontons were really good too and I liked the bao. I wish the broth had a bit more flavor. This is a solid place though, definitely worth enjoying a meal here, especially if you can sit outside on a nice day! read more

Absolutely delicious pan fried bao zi. We had the Curry beef Bao Zi and it was stunningly amazing. Flavors exploding in your mouth. We also had the Pork Xiao Long Bao, this was good but not as amazing as the Bao zi. It tended to stick a little to the steamer basket so the broth in the bun was running out even when carefully picking them up. We tried the black pepper beef noodle and this dish also was absolutely stunning in flavor as well as presentation with cucumber and pickled onion, and garlic. Service was good, friendly and helpful. Got an order to go and I will say that the server who took our order was very nice, but the beef potstickers and most of the pork buns tasted fermented and were so bad. The beef curry buns were good, but I only got to try one, so pretty much everything I ordered for myself was inedible. We waited about 25 minutes and paid $40 for food I can't eat.
