This was an on a whim stop and I'm glad we tried it. The inside is large and open, you can see them making your food right there in front of you. The staff were so polite, attentive, and informative. The food was huge portions, fresh, so filling, and flavorful. The one thing my husband wasn't so pleased about was that the general tso chicken was really sweet with no heat. However, it was still very delicious. Also that kimchi has to be the best I've ever tried! read more

Hand made, in house foods are fabulous. There are many things I want to try on future visits. The decor wasn't ready that cool. Christmas and Halloween decorations are still up. There's also a messy taped up electrical cable that looks as if they just don't care about their restaurant. Our server did an adequate job but seemed to be distracted. Things like the tea arriving long after the food and only after being reminded twice. We'll still return to try more of the fun foods. read more

i would absolutely come back for their pan fried shang hai bao zi and wonton in sichuan red chili oil!! their wontons are the next best thing to the chili oil wontons at din tai fung (imo)! it tastes homemade and the sauce is quite vinegary. the meat filling was seasoned so well!! the bao zi could have been pan fried a little bit longer and have a bit more meat filling. again, the meat filling was seasoned well and inside the bun was a soupy! this was the first time i tried mapo tofu ever. it was missing the minced meat. definitely had a spice kick to it. we received our food pretty quick, and everything came out piping hot. the distance from the chair to table is pretty far away. your typical Chinese restaurant vibe!! read more

Soooo Delicious! It was hard to decide but I was in the mood for Ma Pau Bean curd. Theirs included shrimp and calamari. Rich flavors that took some time to sort out. Star Anise and I believe Szechuan read more

Placed an order to go. Immediately ate it so it wasn't an issue of sitting in the car However, the noodles were rubbery and dry. It was as if they were days old and microwaved. No flavor either. The shrimp fried rice was good. The General Tsao chicken was tough and tasted a bit sour. We were so disappointed and have no intentions of going back. Not a good first impression. read more

My friends really liked the fried rice and the bao were excellent. The curry beef bao exploded with flavor and was perfectly fluffy. Service was great and the environment was clean and simple. They brought our house made kimchi that was honestly a high light. It was subtly sweeter than expected but super fresh and great to break up the umami of the bao. A great combo that you should definitely check out! read more

I liked almost all the food except the bao zi. I'm starting to realize that I'm just not a big fan of pan fried buns. They are just too chewy for my liking. Although their bao zi was pretty big and has soup inside. I did think it was saltier than the xlb but might be because there was shrimp too. Chili oil wonton 10/10 Taiwanese pancake 10/10 Xlb 10/10 Food came out quick! There was no wait for seating at 7pm on a Friday for 2. Staff really nice, I had to run back in because I forgot to grab my retainers. read more

The food is always hot, flavorful and fresh! I appreciate that they make so much from scratch. The service is excellent as well. The staff checked on us throughout the meal and gave us recommendations. We tried a little of everything and not a single choice was bad. The broths are so tasty! The restaurant was clean and the music wasn't too loud. We will definitely come back! read more

Based on reviews I wanted to fall in love with Bao Bao but it was not meant to be - for me at least. Busy was a good sign and clean and pleasant ambiance. But out of the five dishes ordered only one stood out which was the steamed BBQ pork buns (Cha Siu Bao). Everything else was very disappointing. The wonton in red chili was second but a little "slimy." The Pineapple Seafood Fried Rice was so-so and no one took seconds. The Spicy Popcorn Chicken was burnt. Last of all was the Pork Wonton Soup. Waiter insisted there was soup inside each wonton but it there was nothing but a glob of pork that must have soaked up the "soup." Will not come back. read more

This place does not stand out from the street, but I'm glad I found it and everyone should try. Looking at the menu, I can tell it's more authentic as they don't have typical Americanized Chinese dishes. I tried their wonton soup and it was perfect. The wontons have so much flavored packed and the broth is of simple taste. Great balance. I liked that they put a lot of mushrooms too. I wish they offered wonton soup with noodles too. Service is fast, but the server just took my order, served food and never really checked back on me. The restrooms need updating and it did not feel very sanitary. That said, food is great at reasonable prices so I will return for sure! read more

What a great find! Super tasty bao and dumplings, generous portions, and friendly service (the lead chef stopped by to say hi!). Highly recommended. read more

We have been here quite a few times so we have some favorites and continue to also try new things. Our kids love the pork dumplings so we always order multiple orders of that. We have tried many different fried rice and noodle dishes as well as bao buns. The service is often friendly but sometimes slow. We have had times where all of the food didn't come out at the same time. Over we love it tho and will keep going back. read more

The bomb! Don't think, just go and enjoy! Quality and delicious freshly made cuisine. I got the chicken mushroom noodle, spicy! Spicy cucumber salad, spicy fried mushrooms. Very satisfied. I am happy to recommend. You are welcome read more

My partner and I came in early at 11:30am. There was only one other table and unfortunately my toddler kept whining. The server was amazing and continuously tried to help us soothe him. Obviously, I walked out for a bit to have my toddler stretch and relax. We weren't outside to long when our food was brought out. We ordered the special noodles with brisket and it was amazing! The broth was hot and tasty. The brisket was soft and basically melted in your mouth. Then we ordered a pan fried pork and shrimp baozi. Those where also tasty, fluffy, warm. This place has the best dishes for a cold and rainy day. Thank you for making us feel welcomed. read more

Twice we have been here, on travel off hwy 5, with dog in tow. They have some outdoor tables, perfect for us. I was able to order by phone so we did not have to wait. Excellent flavors, order of like six bao buns for like $16, and an order of vegetable fried noodles about similar price 2026. Very nice staff, brought us water and plates. Will definitely stop again as we do this route pretty often. read more

Great service, good food, nice prices. Highly recommended. Blah blah blah blah. Eat there. You'll like it.

Quick lunch stop along the busy Springfield Gateway strip. Ordered 4 items: beef brisket noodle soup, curry chicken bento, curry beef buns & boiled pork dumplings. As the name might imply, what they do best is their dumplings & buns. Good wrappings (skins & dough) covered tasty curry beef filling & marinated pork. These items were 5 star. The rice and noodle soup dishes didn't fair so well being a tad bland and inconsistent (3 stars), so strongly suggest sticking to dumplings & buns. The open kitchen actually allows diners to watch dumplings being made. Decor is modern with tall ceilings. Service is friendly & prompt. read more

It used to be Rice Hill, but now the Bao Bao House is a must visit on our Oregon road trips. Conveniently located close to I5, we love to stop here for a quick lunch or dinner while making the long drive. It is an unassuming place with nice service and some of our favorite dumplings and pan fried buns. I always get the Pork XLB and Cha Siu Bao. I really should branch out. Some of our other roadside stops tend to have longer waits, and we've had only good experiences here. read more

Tucked away in an ally there was no wait on a Monday night. The honey grapefruit tea (get it iced) was so refreshingly delicious! The brown sugar walnut biscuit is considered a finger food, but it serves well as a dessert. The popular handmade shrimp and pork steamed/fried baozi were good. Nice people work there and service was relatively fast. read more

The food here is good specially the soup and the location is very convenient from where we stay.

Cozy and cute! Service was fast, we stopped in before a movie, bao's were amazing! Good portions to price - will definitely be back!

Someone told me to check this out in passing and I'm so glad I decided to listen to them lol. Food here was very good. We only 2 small plates because we wanted to try out other food in the area. The service was great. We got our food within about 10 minutes. The staff was friendly. The bao's here were some of the soupiest I've ever had. The best part was the bottom was slightly fried, so it had a bit of crunch too. It was great. I added in some chili oil and soy sauce, and it was over the top! The vibe is that of a traditional-ish bao spot. Come check it out! read more

The waitress was great. She made some kid friendly chopsticks for my six year old daughter. We both love the food. We normally get an order of dumplings and an order of bao to share. It's always very satisfying and not terribly expensive. I definitely recommend Bao Bao House. read more

This has become one of our favorites when we come back to town. I forget how awesome it really is. Quickly seated and watered. Many choices for bao, noodle, soup based meals, as well as appetizers. The flavors are what sets this place apart from the others. The chicken noodle option and the won ton soup is 10/10 flavor wise. Great open seating area with high ceilings and modern appearance. A family with small kids spent time watching the processing of their food through the glass observation area into the kitchen. Very clean and service oriented staff complete the experience. Was here the last time I visited the area and I gave a review of that experience as well. Will be back! read more

We've been to the Gateway store four times now, and it never disappoints. All house-made dumplings. House made noodles. I go back to the special noodle and brisket soup - a depth of flavor, something I still cannot identify, and bouncy noodles in a bone-broth. At a 1:00 lunch we always have immediate seating and service that feels personal. They are proud of the food they provide, and they have every reason to be. read more

Worst experience EVER of my life!! All 4 of us ordered different items and they all came out at different time and freezing cold. The waitress WOULD NOT make eye contact even though after the second meal was brought out I begged her for utensils, plates and napkins so at least of of us could eat!! She DID NOT come back for 30 minutes. I went BEHIND the counter and got all of us plates, forks and napkins without any worker even noticing me! As we were so upset and asked for the check the last 2 meals suddenly appeared. Oddly enough the very next morning I barfed my brains out for 12 hours!! Wow. Coincidence? Things they make up go "Hmmm" read more

Enjoyed their first location and was glad to see this new one pop up that is farther from the hustle and bustle of campus. Their handmade dumplings and pan fried baozi remain staples of their menu, and were super delicious, juicy delights. We also ordered a pickled vegetable noodle dish that was a very hearty, home style bowl of soup. I was a little disappointed by the service this time. Our main server seemed to be having a bad days I tried to give the server the benefit of the doubt but every single interaction we had with him was either a scowl or pretty clear impatience. I'll still be back next time in Eugene, but maybe will just continue to opt for takeout... read more

On Christmas Day, our options for food were slim, and we visited Bao Bao on a whim after calling to check if they were open with no response. We were so glad we took a chance on this place, because our meal was just what we needed - hearty, filling, and delicious! The seating process was hectic, as the only server was answering phones and taking care of customers in the restaurant. Someone leaving joked that we just needed to "stand around and linger and they'll eventually find you". We were seated in about 15 minutes at a clean table and immediately served water. We got their new pineapple seafood fried rice, served in half a pineapple and packed with flavor and a good amount of shrimp and squid. This was by far my favorite dish. The cucumber salad was unique and unlike other versions I've had before at Din Tai Fung and Dough Zone. The cucumbers seemed to be flash fried then seasoned. It had a bit of a kick to it! Finally, we had the beef curry bao - super flavorful and delicious. I'd 100% recommend making this a stop if you're ever road tripping along the I-5! read more

I've been to the downtown location a handful of times but this new one in Springfield is closer to where I live. I wanted to check it out and see if it compares! Well it does. The food and service are just as good. Today we grabbed their veggie dumplings and veggie fried rice without egg. The dumplings I ordered pan fried for that layer of crunch on the bottom. The filling is soft and warm with wilted spinach and tofu that's savory and comforting. The fried rice comes with a mix of fresh veggies but my favorite little bits are the mushrooms. They seem to be marinated and add a nice salty, umami and chewy bite that's just so tasty. I always top everything with their chili oil, soy sauce and black vinegar too. You can't go wrong with some extra flavor! If you're vegan or vegetarian and wondering if it's worth a visit, this is definitely one of those places that does their veggie dishes right. read more

Shopping in the area and feeling a little hungry we saw this from across the street--immediately wondered if it is the same as Park Street location in Eugene. We walked in for a late lunch and were told they are indeed the same. This location has been only open for about 6 months. Only a couple of tables were occupied during our visit. The restaurant is spacious and bright--I noticed the calligraphy artwork on the walls. We ordered the pork shrimp bao zhi buns (6) and hand made pork dumplings (10). It took about 10-15 for our order to be served, but it was worth the wait. The buns & dumplings were served piping hot. Both the buns & dumplings exceeded our expectations; the dumplings were juicy and tasted excellent dipped in a vinegar/chili oil dipping sauce. The 2 dishes were plenty for 2 and we even had leftovers to take home. Definitely worth checking out. No need to look for parking like downtown, there's plenty of parking here. read more

I ordered takeout today online. They automatically add a 15 percent "tip" when you come to pick up your food. Gratuities are a way for clients to thank a restaurant or server for good service. This felt more like extortion. I wont be back. The food is fine. read more

We are here on our way through Eugene heading to Texas. The reviews looked good so we decided to give it a try. The steamed/fried buns we had were so so. Not the highlight of our meal. But the noodle dish we got was outstanding. Well, after the mix up that is. We ordered the hot version and they brought out the cold version. After flagging down our server this was quickly resolved. They were very tasty. They even left the cold entree which we gave to some homeless street kids outside the restaurant. We'd definitely stop in again if traveling through town. Fresh, tasty and reasonably priced. Not the usual Chinese food you'll experience elsewhere. read more

One of the few "we are so lucky to have this in Eugene" places. Fun, hand-drawn menu with a selection that is quite different from most other Chinese restaurants I've been to. Everything was super flavorful and nicely presented. Extremely friendly & attentive service. Update: Don't order the Pineapple Fried Rice, though. It is served in a pineapple (which is pretty), but doesn't actually come with any edible pineapple. Feels almost like false advertising. read more
