The food was very good with the exception of the egg foo young. It tasted like an overstuffed with cabbage previously frozen egg roll. Dry and with a strange texture. The chow fun was tasty and made with fresh noodles. The fried chicken was really really good. The Mongolian beef was also very good. Tofu was delicious. Portion sizes and price was acceptable. Yes. The restaurant has been in Springfield for a long time and you can tell when you walk in it's out dated and needs a face lift. The food is always nice and hot always made to order. I never had a bad experience from this restaurant. The staff is very friendly and kind. So happy they are still in business!!!! This is an "old school," 'Americanized' Chinese restaurant. The prices are affordable & it's a notch or two above say, " Panda Explosion," not to mention I like supporting small, local, non-franchise eating establishments. The Great Wall is ran by only the husband & wife couple for many years now. It's a cornerstone for the old downtown area in Springfield. If I could leave 0 stars I would, spent $60 (not including tip) to pick up a meal for my family of four all for it to taste bland and I don't even know... old?? Customer service seemed nice at first but when we called to say that none of us could finish our plates because we all were disappointed the manager replied with "everyone loves that meal" okay.... Small family owned and operated for many years, I've been going there many years, and they are consistently good--food, service-- you get what you are used to and expect. One of the only restaurants around Eugene-Springfield that has not bit the dust in quality. I think because the owner & his wife do the cooking and serving is one reason. read more

I've been coming here for a decade. Tonight at 4 pm on Saturday night I was the only one there. When I got home with our food my bbq pork noodles had nothing but pork and noodles. Non of the usual vegetables with it. To be honest I think this is Donald Trump's fault. I mean how does he call our economy BETTER if this poor restaurant is trying to survive. We are always looking for a new Chinese restaurant. We were very happy with Great Wall. I thought the price was steep when I ordered but when I went to pick it up, it was worth every penny! Portion sizes are large and the food was good. We were not a fan of the orange chicken but the mushroom beef was fantastic as was the special fried rice and marfar chicken! The sauce all comes on the side which was great so we didn't have to toss out the chicken that came for the orange chicken. We will be returning! read more

I'm all about cheap food with cheap ingrediants. This place just didn't do it for me. Clientele consisted of overweight 50 year old guys by themselves on their lunch hour. The food was under par, didn't have the it factor. Server was nice, but she would dissapear in the back for long periods. First time my brother & I went into the restaurant and ate a "sit down" meal, the food was decent. And, yes, the restaurant was completely empty at 6:00 pm. Yes, it should have said stay away!!! Tonight, we placed an order to go for the "Happy Family Dinner" combination for 2 --- and I wish I had just kept going. EVERYTHING was absolutely awful. The pork fried rice was hard and tasteless. Even the addition of soy sauce did not help. The sweet and sour pork was tasteless mush. The pork chow mein must have been made with overcooked spagetti - it just tasted like old flour - and the veggies were overcooked. The crab puffs were old and awful and the "egg roll' was crispy but tasteless. We wondered if these were all leftovers. When we called to complain, they said, Oh, yes, they had many unsatisfied customers, but offered no replacement or refund. There was literally nothing nice I could say about the food this restaurant serves it's customers. So, if you like to eat expensive, crappy food that anyone would be ashamed to serve to starving homeless people, in a restaurant that is perpetually clean because they have no customers, this is the place for you. TERRIBLE! Probably the worst Chinese food I have had in 20 years or more. WAAAAY! too expensive for what we recieved. We ordered the two person Canton meal and got very little for our $25 price tag. The egg drop soup was not near as good as other similar places (and had corn in it?). The food portions were small and the table was sticky plus we were given a dirty napkin. The pork rice tasted old, and the crackers were stale. The crab puffs had little to no filling, and the plum sauce tasted terrible almost like they added some sort of seafood flavoring to it. The Great Wall is a above average Chinese American restaurant nestled on busy Main street in Springfield across the street from the Toyota dealership. This review might a little biased because I know the family that runs the place and even went to high school with their son. Appearance The restaurant looks outdated and it shows. The booths and chairs don't look right together and there are minor tears in the fabric which gives the place a rundown look and feel to it when combining the look for the wallpaper and lighting. The bathroom is very awkward to use and looks very unclean even though they do clean it. Menu Being called " The Great Wall" you'd think they would serve Chinese food, right? They do and it's hit and miss on most of the menu. There is a daily special for about $5.00 and it's never changed the whole time I've known them. The soups can be passed on for the most part, but the Great Wall Chicken and Sweet & Sour pork are very well done and worth trying. The Chicken Kung Pow and anything with vegetables are also good. They also have a American menu, but I'd stay away from anything American, as it most likely will be frozen. (Burger, Fries, Chicken nuggets, etc.) Price The plate portions are decent but nothing compared to Lok Yuan. Prices haven't changed too much for the past couple years. Service The place is ran by a two person crew. Just a friendly Cantonese couple. Food is made relatively fast after ordering. The Great Wall is a quick place to get good food.
