I love this spot lol. I always get the chopped baker all the way with fried okra and jalapeño ranch. No complaints here really, I just have had "better"' bbq at another spot not in the area. I def recommend coming here and getting you some bbq and a side. Their okra and fries are great IMO. Love the free rolls all the same time , and ice cream on Sundays. This is my local go to spot

The food is always good here, hot and fresh. The staff is friendly. Barbecue ribs were tender and so flavorful, and the brisket is always delicious. Try the barbecue sauce it is good! I always get the green beans, potato salad, or baked beans. The rolls come to your table served hot and fresh. Put on some butter and it melts in your mouth! I went here twice this month. I always bring my friends when they come to town. I like to cater from here when I have a party. They give you a lot of food for your money and it's always good.

My first time here and I really enjoyed it. The atmosphere was so calm and relaxed and really mellow. The food was absolutely delicious and the servers were real helpful in helping me decide what to pick. I will definitely be coming back here.

Let me tell you, it did not disappoint! The pork ribs were the star of the show. So tender, fall off the bone deliciousness. Pair it with the hot sauce that they have on the side and it was chefs kiss! The best ribs I've ever had. The brisket on the other hand was a little dry and I wish it had more flavor, but the sauce made up for it. We also got the Mac n cheese with brisket on top. They really did not skimp out on the brisket. It was very delicious and the Mac n cheese was perfectly creamy and decadent. They also pickles, pickled jalapeño, and onions on the side which really cut the fat from the meat. The coleslaw that we got was okay though. Overall, it was a great experience. All the employees were nice and patient with us since it was our first time here and we had some questions. The vibes were definitely there. Will def stop by here if we ever go to Texas again!!

The experience was redeemed by the cobbler which by itself would be worthy of a 5 star. But with everything else it drags up the overall rating to a 4.

I couldn't wait for my second time to show even more family how awesome this place was. Well my second visit spent about $250 on the brisket and I was surprised on how far the quality went down, brisket was so dry that after my first bite I literally wanted to throw the entire brisket away, it was that terrible and everyone that had a bite agreed and couldn't see why I bragged so much about it initially. With that price and amount of inconsistency I doubt I'll risk another visit to Truth.

Very tender. Current Best: Black's BBQ, Austin, TX Dry/Lean Brisket: Not rated. Pretty dry. But I don't love lean brisket to begin with. Current Best: Black's Sausage: Not rated. I had Jalapeño cheddar (they were out of the pepper jack that I would have gotten). The casing is fairly thick and hard to cut through with plastic utensils, and the inside is fairly dense. Current Best: Datil Sausage at Woodpecker's BBQ, Saint John's County, FL Baked Beans: Way better than I expected (and way better than they look, since they look like standard baked beans). I was glad I got them. Brussels: Better than expected - very tender, and the glaze/sauce they pour over is a great compliment. Overall, an outstanding meal. Easy to park. Not too crowded. A great stop on a work trip.

CORKSCREW BBQ is Houston's Michelin star restaurant! It is about 30 minutes drive north of Houston,…read morewhich isn't super bad. They are only open Wednesday-Saturday 11AM-4PM. We came a little earlier and there was already a long line. I heard that if you order in advance, you can skip the line. While you wait, the employees walk around and you can order a drink. Which is nice if you're waiting a while and it gets hot. The employees were all very nice and ambiance is how you would expect a regular bbq restaurant to be. There are plenty of seating outside but limited inside. The seats are all first come first serve, so usually the inside seating runs out first. We ordered 1/2lb ribs, 1/2lb brisket, 1/2lb sausages, and some sides like Mac&cheese, beans, loaded potato, cobbler, etc. total was about $120 after tip. The food was very delicious and worth the drive. Although, I will say that it doesn't taste that much different from my other favorite bbq restaurants. I was still a great experience and very delicious. I highly recommend to try if you're in the area.

Since they were awarded their Michelin star, I've been wanting to try CorkScrew... in particular,…read moretheir beef rib. Beef ribs are my go to bbq protein, and not many places have them. I've tried those deemed "the best," including Salt Lick in Driftwood and Killen's. So how did CorkScrew measure up? In addition to the beef rib, we tried the moist brisket, pulled pork, and sausage. We also tried several sides, including those recommended in the Michelin review: potato salad, mac and cheese, smokey beans, and coleslaw, and I picked up a peach cobbler, as well. The beef rib: STELLAR. This was outstanding with its flavorful bark and an impossibly tender texture that truly melts in your mouth, unlike any other beef rib I've ever had. Easily the very best beef rib, without a doubt. The brisket was delicious, as well: tender and flavorful. The sausage was nothing special... on par with sausage elsewhere, as was the pork. As for the sides, I've never been a fan of beans, but since the Michelin review specifically mentioned them, I gave them a try. I'm a fan! I would definitely order these again. Their smokiness is gently tamed by a touch of sweetness. The rest? Very average. The mac and cheese tasted like the stuff I had in my elementary school cafeteria - very un-special. The potato salad was salty and was missing any semblance of potato chunks. The texture was oddly like lumpy mashed potatoes. But the other surprise for me: the cobbler. This was simply and divinely perfect with crisp, sweet buttery crumble. A wonderful way to end a hearty meal. I'm so glad I ordered our food online for pickup. When I arrived at 1pm, the line was wrapped around the building. Pickup was very easy: I texted them when I arrived, and they replied when they were ready for me to go in and retrieve it. But even if there wasn't a line, I would never eat there: the restaurant is too divey for me: very rustic, picnic-like feel both inside and out, and it was uncomfortably warm and humid (again, inside and out.) The staff was very friendly and cheerful. Glad i tried it, and when i get a hankering for a good beef rib, this is definitely where I'll be getting it!

When we got our order to the room we were missing one side that we ordered. We got Mac n cheese, green beans and potato salad with a brisket/smoked chicken combo and a brisket/ribs. I was shocked to see two pieces of brisket and a chicken breast for $28. Maybe it was an off night but the quality just wasn't there. All the food was cold (our fault bc we ordered it for delivery) and was lacking flavor. My partner had the brisket sandwich with potato salad and a small helping of pickles and pickled red onions and I had the pulled pork tacos. My partner said the brisket sandwich was okay, but we both agreed that the potato salad was fantastic! The potato salad was way better than the one at Pappas Barbecue. The taste of the pulled pork tacos was great, but it was honestly too wet and made the flour tortillas too soggy and there was way too much coleslaw on top. I feel like if Killen's is going to serve pulled pork tacos there needs to be three things done. 1. Serve the tacos with an option of corn tortillas because I feel corn tortillas would've worked better to give a great contrast/pairing with the sweetness of the pulled pork and sauce. 2. Serve the corn/flour tortillas on the side so that they don't get soggy and wet. 3. There are some things that just don't belong on a taco of any kind and that's coleslaw. My partner and I also tasted the banana pudding and to say it was divine is an understatement. What I really like about this pudding was that you could taste real bananas in this pudding and it had been mixed well all together. Our total was $80 after tipping, which is a little pricey for some of the items, but honestly I would definitely come back to Killen's Barbecue when I was in the mood for barbecue.
