So I recently moved to the area and was surprised that there was such an infamous restaurant right around the corner. After doing my research and seeing food bloggers post online about this place, I decided to try it! We went on a Saturday afternoon at 2 pm - packed! There were no tables available inside and there were people inside and outside waiting for their orders. That's something to be ready for if you come on a Saturday. Our order didn't actually take that long. Or maybe it took a little while and we didn't mind waiting. Either way, it wasn't that bad! Luckily it's located in a shopping area so there's always parking. My main gripe is that they close at 7pm. I'm sure there's a good reason for that but I've wanted to try it multiple times before but they've been closed! I ended up going with the infamous brisket and fried rice. The brisket was super tender - I was able to pull it apart with my fork. I typically shy away from brisket because usually it's tough. But this was delicious - tender and had a nice smoky flavor. Not overwhelming or too salty. The rice had a great flavor too. There were chunks of meat in that as well and the rice had a nice smoky flavor. Not too salty or greasy. It also came with some accoutrements - pickled onions, fresh pickled cucumbers, jalapeños, bbq sauce and bread. The cucumbers and onions stole the show - very fresh and refreshing. We were surprised at the pickled onions - they were soo good! Overall - worth the hype! I'll definitely be back to try ribs, chicken or pulled pork sandwich. Came here on a whim bc hubby and I both wanted bbq. They did not disappoint! Ordered: Brisket and steamed rice 5/5 Brisket with fried rice 5/5 House made sausage 5/5 Even the pickled onions and jalapeños were 5/5, done viet style. I'm viet and imo that's the best way to pickle anything. Restaurant clean, service friendly and very fast. You can tell they are a neighborhood favorite, so many people came in after us to pick up and dine in! Only thing to "improve" is it was a little warm in the restaurant. We recently visited this barbecue spot on Highway 6 and decided to order a little bit of everything, and we were impressed across the board. Every dish was packed with flavor. The brisket was incredibly tender, and both the regular sausage and jalapeño sausage were absolutely amazing. The street corn was delicious, and the loaded potato salad was easily one of our favorite sides. The barbecue fried rice was so delicious that I ended up ordering another serving to go before we left. It was packed with flavor and quickly became one of the highlights of the meal. The only item that didn't quite hit the mark for us was the poor man's mac , but that certainly didn't take away from what was otherwise a fantastic meal. Was in the area so decided to grab lunch with friends since we've been wanting to check it out since it got a Michelin. The line is long but moves relatively quick. They had already run out of the beef rib by the time we got there. Ended up sitting outside because the inside is fairly small. Service is quick, fast, and friendly. We got a handful of things, including the brisket with brisket fried rice, the house sausage, and the pork ribs. We got the street corn and poor man's macaroni along with the banana pudding. The brisket fried rice was a little dry but felt really homey, even having Chinese sausage in it. The pork ribs were delicious and the house sausage was juicy with a great kick. The brisket was well seasoned. And the banana pudding had great layers with banana and vanilla wafers. Street corn had a lot of spice, so it was a little much for me. And the poor man's macaroni was tomato based, which wasn't my favorite and probably would have liked regular macaroni better. We also got drinks and the green apple soda tasted like jolly ranchers in liquid form. Great food and cost wise not too bad! It fed 5 people with some leftovers to spare for about $125. Holy smokes, this place is amazing and exceeds all of my expectations. Came here after going to a golf driving range practice around the corner, and had heard many good things about this restaurant. I decided to give it a try and buy some for my family. There was a line on a Saturday afternoon but it wasn't a crazy out the door line. I was able to look at the menu, choose wisely and order at the front counter for to-go. The staff are nice, friendly and take care of you very well. I was pleased with how clean the place was inside and outside despit it being a BBQ place (and sometimes they can get a bad rap for how they are unclean/hole-in-the-wall places). I wanted to call ahead to see what meats were still available before driving over. I called twice and no one picked up, so I assumed they were busy. When we got there, though, the place was almost empty, just my boyfriend and I and maybe three other customers. For how slow it was, the restaurant felt surprisingly dirty. There was stuff on the floor and the tables didn't look like they'd been wiped down recently. We ordered the BBQ fried rice, brisket, and mac n cheese. Finally got to swing by Brisket & Rice to pickup some lunch for takeout while on my most recent Houston trip! It's a bit of a drive for us but I'm really glad we got to try it. I wanted a little bit of everything so I ended up ordering the brisket & rice plate + three sides: the slaw, the loaded potato salad, and the poor man's mac. I also tacked on the banana pudding because I'm always a sucker for that dessert. The friends I came with also ordered the fried rice for us to share. We took everything home with us but had some other stops in between so weren't able to dig into the food until about an hour after we got it. Maybe that's why the brisket itself was a bit of a letdown for me? The fatty parts were excellent but the leaner bits were a bit too dry/hard for my tastes. However the sauce helped cover that flaw up, and brisket always tastes great with freshly steamed jasmine rice. I also really enjoyed the pickles and onions that came with the plates; the tangy brightness really helped cut through the richness of the meat. The fried rice was definitely one of the main standouts. I would 100% come back just for that! Really glad I got to try it. The slaw the day we went was a bit bland for me; not sure if it was just that particular batch but IMO it could've used more flavor or salt. The loaded potato salad was also just okay, but I quite enjoyed the hint of spice and general flavor profile of the poor man's mac. I grew up eating something similar so it really took me back. Brisket & Rice has a twist of Asian fusion and Texas BBQ. And to be honest it's well executed. My friend and I arrived around 5pm, although it was later in the day the food was fresh and prepared very well. I went ahead and ordered their brisket & rice, half pound of the pork ribs, Mac & Cheese, loaded baked potato salad & my friend got their prime brisket sandwich. The brisket and rice came out hot & fresh. It was smoky, tendered, and I love the addition of their Chinese sausages. I can tell it was made in a wok because it had that nice charred aroma to it. The pork ribs were also delicious, it was peppery, nicely glazed, tendered and fall off the bone. The Mac and cheese was creamy, cheesy and also had a lot of flavor. Noodles were al dente. Their potato salad is not your typical potato salad which has mayo/mustard/dill/relish. It's more like a loaded potato but sliced. It was very good. My friend brisket sandwich was also exceptional. Smoky, tendered and generous portions of meat. They have two types of bbq sauce but the mustard one tasted better. It was tangy, sweet with a mild heat to it. Honestly this restaurant deserves a lot of recognition. The prices are pretty affordable as well without having to spend hundreds of dollars like you would at the Pit room or Pinkertons. We matched it with poor man's Mac and the Cranberry Almond Coleslaw. We also threw in a half of homemade sausage. I'd say the best of the bunch was the Mac and Sausage the rest was good but not exceptional. I have to admit if I'm going for a BBQ fusion I'd find my way to Blood Brother's BBQ where everything is more intense. Counter Service was friendly but don't expect prompt. We also ordered the Mac N Cheese, and their Beef Rib (sold only on Saturdays). Everything was so flavorful and delicious except for the beef ribs which I was so looking forward to smashing. It was not tender at all and half of it was super dry and almost beef jerky-like. Very disappointing. We made the 2hr drive just to check this place out too. Finally a (popular?) BBQ joint where I don't have to wait hours in line. Came during prime time over the weekend and was surprised there wasn't a line out the door given that it's gaining popularity. Service from ordering to getting the food was quicker than I thought and the workers were nice to answer any questions that we had. There is also both indoor and outdoor seating with plenty of room to not feel cramped. Might need to get split tables though if you want to come with a large party. The meats were all REALLY good, especially the brisket and rice dishes - I guess that is why they are called Brisket and Rice? Can't complete the order without getting at least one of two. All the meats were well-portioned, did not have too much fat, and great flavor. I think one thing lacking though is the sides; none of them were super amazing or made me want to get seconds but I guess you don't go to a BBQ place for the sides. We hadn't returned since my last review, and they have since moved. We finally got the chance to make the trek to NW side and in summary, it did not disappoint, as expected. The food quality is the same (top notch), and the new location has boasts a nice patio space. Although we did seat ourselves outside, I imagine a nice breeze shooting through on the hotter days of summer. Interestingly enough, they retained the same wallpaper that the previous location featured. The service is friendly and efficient. More recently, Mark Weins also came by and he gave his patented eyes-closed, trademark stamp of approval, so you know the food hits the mark. Can't wait to come back soon. read more

First visit and I brought out of town relatives who wanted to try Texas barbecue. I ordered the chicken and jasmine rice but I made sure to have them order the brisket, which they said was really good. I don't eat red meat so I can't really comment on most of the food here, especially the specialties, but it all looked really good. We ordered to eat here but everything was in to go boxes when we got it. I think it's important to note if you do get together, a lot of our order was missing, which would have been difficult to tell if we weren't planning on eating in. We were missing our side of beans, our banana pudding, pickles, cheese, and bread. They did give us extra onions for the chili that we didn't ask for. The guy working at the register and who kept giving me the stuff we were missing was nice. The lady at the register seemed like we were annoying her, which was kind of off putting. The nerve of me to have never rated the best Asian Texas BBQ fusion food on the planet. Brisket and Rice originally sat next to a gas station off Eldridge Parkway, but they eventually moved to a larger standalone location on Highway 6. The usual staff has stayed consistent throughout the transition, which I appreciate. I first came across Brisket and Rice through an ad on my phone and thought, "Brisket and rice together actually sounds intriguing and satisfying." At the time I was living in the Energy Corridor, so it was about a 20-minute drive for me. When I visited the original location, parking was extremely limited, although I later learned there was extra parking behind the gas station. The dining area was small but clean. They had a self-service beverage station with Jones Soda, but no Coke or Pepsi options. The menu was posted on the wall and included pork ribs, beef ribs, brisket, BBQ fried rice (think classic Chinese fried rice with tender brisket mixed in), chicken quarters, and their staple brisket and rice dish. That one comes with a bed of white rice topped with sliced brisket, along with complimentary BBQ sauce, pickles, onions, and jalapeños if you want them. Even though I consider this an Asian fusion spot, they dominate the rib and brisket scene across Houston. Every item is consistently delicious. Every bite is packed with flavor. My personal favorite is the ribs, with the brisket close behind. The ribs are extremely tender, smoky, and honestly do not need any BBQ sauce at all. The BBQ fried rice has also become a staple in my house. The blend of BBQ and fried rice is something you do not realize you need until you try it. I have taken several out-of-state guests here and every one of them was blown away. The new location is a bit larger and definitely nicer. Most importantly, they finally have their proper brick and mortar location. The only issue I noticed is that there is not a very noticeable sign on Highway 6, so I had a little trouble finding it at first. My first visit there was also a bit disappointing, but only because it was so unusual for them. I went with my two sons and ordered a half pound of ribs, a chicken quarter, and the BBQ fried rice. They were not very busy, but it was obvious they were still figuring out staffing for the bigger space. I waited more than 45 minutes and the food still had not come out. I ended up asking for a rain check so I would not miss an appointment. The good news is that my next visit was back to normal. My order was ready in about 10 to 15 minutes. With their growing popularity and a brand-new location, some hiccups were expected, so I do not fault them for that one experience. Brisket and Rice is one of the only restaurants in the Houston area that has been this consistent in quality on every visit. The staff is friendly, hardworking, and clearly takes pride in what they serve. I will always be a customer because I know exactly what I am getting, and it is some of the best BBQ around. This was a great spot for lunch. We shared a brisket and jasmine rice along with a "loaded baked potato" and a little combo of pickled jalapeños, onions, and cucumbers. We got our brisket without the drizzle. To my surprise, the 2 pieces of brisket were so tender and flavorful. The rice was plain (as advertised). I put my own drizzle of their red sauce on my piece of brisket. My boyfriend liked their mustard sauce on his. Came on Saturday, 3/7/26, around noon and there may have been 8 people in line. I would say we were in line for 15 min before we were helped. The food was ready 5-10 minutes after ordering. The lady taking our order, appeared to be a manager, was very friendly and answered a few questions for us before ordering. The place was well lit and there was plenty of seating both inside and outside. First, quick shout out to the mustard bbq sauce on the tables in squeeze bottles. Wow that sauce was delicious all on its own, could drink a gallon of it. The brisket was absolutely great. Tender, smoky, bended without breaking, as indicated by the way it flopped over the fried rice. Really good stuff. But the real star of the show was the fried rice. I could eat buckets of that fried rice. That Chinese sausage inside was really good. The pork ribs were really good too. They had a nice glaze on them but I think they fell off the bone a little too quick for me (almost seemed a little over cooked) but still definitely worth ordering. The jalapeño cheese sausage was an absolute stunner. One of the best sausage bites I've had in a long time. The texture inside was different but you can tell they make it in house and take great pride in it. The sleeper on the menu is the chicken leg quarter. Crispy skin with super moist and tender leg and thigh meat inside. Absolutely worth ordering. The misses were the sides unfortunately. The loaded baked potato salad was served warm, which is fine, but I would not have ordered it if I had known that. Also, the red potato pieces were undercooked. The apple cranberry slaw was bland side and didn't add much to the meal. Can't wait to come back and get me some more fried rice tho!!!! read more

Yep, it was alright. I can't really say that I was blown away, but the one slice of brisket I ordered was good, but not any better than other top BBQ spots in Houston or other parts of Texas. I do like their new digs on Hwy 6 and I will go back when in the area to try some of their other items when I have more time to explore their menu. You do have to ask for pickles, onions and the other stuff, so don't forget when you're placing your order. read more
