Brisket & Rice has been on my list to try for years since they first opened. Now that they've been recommended on the Michelin guide, I've been more eager to try. My husband and I finally had time to stop by on a Friday afternoon. It wasn't too busy and didn't have to wait long. Brisket with fried rice - 7/10 The Viet style fried rice was great and felt comforting. The brisket was not dry and had a smoky flavor to it, however, we were expecting a more depth of flavor. It was missing that oomph to it. Chicken leg quarter - 8.5/10 It was seasoned well and very moist! Surprisingly, we enjoyed this more than the brisket. House sausage - 8.6/10 What a flavor bomb! The sausage had a great bite to it. Although we felt the brisket was lacking, the fried rice, chicken and sausage made up for it. If we're back in the area, would love to try other items on their menu but probably won't go out of the way for it.
Finally made it here and without a line. I went during lunch time on a Thursday. Plenty free parking. The menu is easy and not too much. She explained the menu. I ordered the bbq brisket and rice. The order was done in 2 minutes. I was impressed. The brisket was luke warm but seasoned very well. It was good and tender with huge slices. The rice was really good but I didn't care for the sausage pieces in it. If in area on payday, I might go again. It is a little pricey.
So I recently moved to the area and was surprised that there was such an infamous restaurant right around the corner. After doing my research and seeing food bloggers post online about this place, I decided to try it! We went on a Saturday afternoon at 2 pm - packed! There were no tables available inside and there were people inside and outside waiting for their orders. That's something to be ready for if you come on a Saturday. Our order didn't actually take that long. Or maybe it took a little while and we didn't mind waiting. Either way, it wasn't that bad! Luckily it's located in a shopping area so there's always parking. My main gripe is that they close at 7pm. I'm sure there's a good reason for that but I've wanted to try it multiple times before but they've been closed! I ended up going with the infamous brisket and fried rice. The brisket was super tender - I was able to pull it apart with my fork. I typically shy away from brisket because usually it's tough. But this was delicious - tender and had a nice smoky flavor. Not overwhelming or too salty. The rice had a great flavor too. There were chunks of meat in that as well and the rice had a nice smoky flavor. Not too salty or greasy. It also came with some accoutrements - pickled onions, fresh pickled cucumbers, jalapeños, bbq sauce and bread. The cucumbers and onions stole the show - very fresh and refreshing. We were surprised at the pickled onions - they were soo good! Overall - worth the hype! I'll definitely be back to try ribs, chicken or pulled pork sandwich. I heard everything is good here!!
I liked the pork ribs, but the brisket was too dry and the sides were ok. Not the best Texas bbq I've had, but was worth a try! Service and people were good!

They had already run out of the beef rib by the time we got there. Ended up sitting outside because the inside is fairly small. Service is quick, fast, and friendly. We got a handful of things, including the brisket with brisket fried rice, the house sausage, and the pork ribs. We got the street corn and poor man's macaroni along with the banana pudding. The brisket fried rice was a little dry but felt really homey, even having Chinese sausage in it. The pork ribs were delicious and the house sausage was juicy with a great kick. The brisket was well seasoned. And the banana pudding had great layers with banana and vanilla wafers. Street corn had a lot of spice, so it was a little much for me. And the poor man's macaroni was tomato based, which wasn't my favorite and probably would have liked regular macaroni better. We also got drinks and the green apple soda tasted like jolly ranchers in liquid form. Great food and cost wise not too bad! It fed 5 people with some leftovers to spare for about $125. Will have to come back to try their other options!
Woah!! Their brisket and fried rice is phenomenal! Definitely come here for that and their mac and cheese! So good! Got the ribs, street, and a pulled pork sandwich as well. Those were solid! Will definitely come back for the brisket, fried rice, and mac and cheese
It is a little pricey for what it is. But it is also pretty good and a unique combination. The place is clean and tidy. The BBQ rice was good as well as the BBQ brisket. They make their own pickles which was nice. Indoor and outdoor seating. We drove by it before and the line was out the door but came back off peak and walked right in.
We came in on a rainy Tuesday afternoon and got serviced quickly. We got a variety of menu options to get a good sense of the flavor profile and were disappointed. Everything tried from the BBQ fried rice, jalapeño sausage, street corn, brisket (not pictured) and rib (not pictured) tasted bland, like minimal efforts were made to really season things despite looking quite appetizing. Their barbecue sauce came in clutch though and saved the day. For the price point, we came expecting more than what was delivered.
The establishment itself is decent. Located on the east side of highway 6. Upon arriving, was met by a young lady who did a decent job. Not very inviting. The service is decent, with it mainly being a "get it yourself" kind of environment. Which isn't bad. Pretty common with BBQ establishments. The brisket was okay with it being relatively dry. Definitely not the best brisket I've had in Houston or anything I'd brag about to friends and family. The Mac and cheese was definitely good but that was about it. The fried rice was just fried rice. Nothing to rave about either. I've had better fried rice at traditional places. It was a decent experience, would not go again unless the quality changed.

A much needed place for great BBQ eats in the northwest area!! Big kudos to the staff and the cooking staff who prepared delicious meats and side dishes. The meat was falling off the bone and the jalapeño sausage was full of flavor & spice. This was a great place for family and friends to have lunch, dinner, & everything in between. If you are in the Bear Creek/Copperfield area bring your appetite and enjoy!!
Finally got to swing by Brisket & Rice to pickup some lunch for takeout while on my most recent Houston trip! It's a bit of a drive for us but I'm really glad we got to try it. I wanted a little bit of everything so I ended up ordering the brisket & rice plate + three sides: the slaw, the loaded potato salad, and the poor man's mac. I also tacked on the banana pudding because I'm always a sucker for that dessert. The friends I came with also ordered the fried rice for us to share. We took everything home with us but had some other stops in between so weren't able to dig into the food until about an hour after we got it. Maybe that's why the brisket itself was a bit of a letdown for me? The fatty parts were excellent but the leaner bits were a bit too dry/hard for my tastes. However the sauce helped cover that flaw up, and brisket always tastes great with freshly steamed jasmine rice. I also really enjoyed the pickles and onions that came with the plates; the tangy brightness really helped cut through the richness of the meat. The fried rice was definitely one of the main standouts. I would 100% come back just for that! Really glad I got to try it. The slaw the day we went was a bit bland for me; not sure if it was just that particular batch but IMO it could've used more flavor or salt. The loaded potato salad was also just okay, but I quite enjoyed the hint of spice and general flavor profile of the poor man's mac. I grew up eating something similar so it really took me back. The banana pudding was also great. I realized after I ordered that I forgot to get a sausage link since I was also interested in trying those, but I guess that just means I have to come back again the next time I'm in town!
Food was very good and interesting. Really nice portions so we walked out plenty full. We had the brisket with fried rice, the signature dish. We matched it with poor man's Mac and the Cranberry Almond Coleslaw. We also threw in a half of homemade sausage. I'd say the best of the bunch was the Mac and Sausage the rest was good but not exceptional. I have to admit if I'm going for a BBQ fusion I'd find my way to Blood Brother's BBQ where everything is more intense. Counter Service was friendly but don't expect prompt. The fried rice is fresh so expect it to take 20min. The place is nice, well lit but expect a crowded dinning room thus heavy usage. We had to clean our own table.
It was good. I'd give the brisket 4 stars and maybe the sausage 4 stars but everything else 3.5 so rounding to 4. The beef rib was fatty and large but also expensive (see receipt) they're known for their brisket fried rice but it was a sum of its parts. Mad props for creativity though. Great way to use leftovers and ends to make something else that's tasty. Give them a try. It's worth the visit. They have a spacious outdoor patio and the fans and places to throw trash, napkins, condiments, etc. read more
Sausage was outstanding. The brisket was moist, if not the most flavorful. The fried rice was as little bland and unmemorable The guy at the counter was somewhat short with me as I didn't really know (or understand) the combinations. I think we both sort of flustered each other in the process. I liked them much better when they shared the location with the gas station a few miles away. Since moving to a larger space, I feel the food and atmosphere lacks soul and flavor. read more

Came here for the first time with my family. Always wanted to try this place since seeing a video of this business. We ordered their most famous and recommended Brisket and BBQ Fried Rice. We also ordered the Mac N Cheese, and their Beef Rib (sold only on Saturdays). Everything was so flavorful and delicious except for the beef ribs which I was so looking forward to smashing. It was not tender at all and half of it was super dry and almost beef jerky-like. Very disappointing. We made the 2hr drive just to check this place out too. Overall, decently priced for very tender and flavorful brisket and fried rice. Adding the complimentary sauces enhances the flavor as well. The staff are very friendly and fast. Lots of tables to dine on, but the outdoor seating area seems more spacious than the indoor area. Large parking lot and a set of private restrooms. read more

Trying all the Michelin rated Bbq Parking: plenty! Place is in a shopping strip. Lots of stores and plenty of parking available. Staff: everyone was extremely sweet. Lady at cashier helped me pick and decide. Although I had lots of questions she was patient. Wait time: no wait time, no line and food was warm and ready quick. Seating: plenty of both indoor and outdoor seating. Price: Average @$23 for a whole meal with drink Drink: sweet tea was perfect! Not too sweet Food: asked for the lean part of the brisket, the famous rice with brisket, Mac and cheese and of course the pickles and onions. Brisket was perfect, lean, soft and easy to chew. Rice had a great taste with a kick of sausage and brisket in every spoon. Mac and cheese was a creamy and tasty. Pickles and onions had a different but refreshing yummy crunch. Will Definitely be coming back for more. To go boxes available. Tables are not only cleaned but also disinfected as people leave. Place is kept clean and welcoming. read more

Finally a (popular?) BBQ joint where I don't have to wait hours in line. Came during prime time over the weekend and was surprised there wasn't a line out the door given that it's gaining popularity. Service from ordering to getting the food was quicker than I thought and the workers were nice to answer any questions that we had. There is also both indoor and outdoor seating with plenty of room to not feel cramped. Might need to get split tables though if you want to come with a large party. The meats were all REALLY good, especially the brisket and rice dishes - I guess that is why they are called Brisket and Rice? Can't complete the order without getting at least one of two. All the meats were well-portioned, did not have too much fat, and great flavor. I think one thing lacking though is the sides; none of them were super amazing or made me want to get seconds but I guess you don't go to a BBQ place for the sides. A bit out of the way for me but I would make the drive and will be back! read more

This is a favorite spot for mother and son eats our favorite is the barbecue fried rice. We get the same thing so often so that the team members know exactly how we order it; and the difference between mines and My son no onions order, we order eggs cook separately to add in our dish so they could be just as visible as the other ingredients. Thanks to my friend Tri I love the loaded, baked potato salad that tastes closely to a baked potato I even inquiry about adding lean top brisket to it, which would've been a small order of side and I was quoted nine dollars for a quarter pound to add to a five dollar side. Which I find a bit overpriced for just a small side to be over $14 when our main lunch entrée (which is a half order of the barbecue fried rice) and it is less than nine dollars. I look forward to the day they start a reward program, we are in here all the time. This My favorite small local business. read more
Long line is always a good sign, and B&R did not disappoint! Of course ordered the brisket & fried rice, which was on par with SGV offerings. Lap cherng stir fried into the rice along was donned with 3 strips of tender, juicy & tasty brisket. Not over salty, the combo was good, but next time, i would likely opt for jasmine white rice which IMO would better with the brisket. The fried rice in and of itself can serve as an entree. The mac & cheese, buttery and cooked el dante, pickles, and marinated onions paired well with both the brisket & pulled pork. Pulled pork was also tender, juicy, and moist. Tables are provided with house bbq and a mustard-ish sauce which complimented the meats and even Mac n cheese. Expect at least a 20m wait in line and food to table. Would recommend! read more

Coming in, I wasn't sure how the combination of brisket and fried rice would work. Well, I am a fan. The brisket was moist and adding the bbq sauce worked well. The sides were great as well. Counter service and the food came out quickly. The restaurant was very clean. Me and my wife both think we would be back anytime in Houston. read more

We recently visited this barbecue spot on Highway 6 and decided to order a little bit of everything, and we were impressed across the board. Every dish was packed with flavor. The brisket was incredibly tender, and both the regular sausage and jalapeño sausage were absolutely amazing. The street corn was delicious, and the loaded potato salad was easily one of our favorite sides. The barbecue fried rice was so delicious that I ended up ordering another serving to go before we left. It was packed with flavor and quickly became one of the highlights of the meal. The only item that didn't quite hit the mark for us was the poor man's mac , but that certainly didn't take away from what was otherwise a fantastic meal. Overall, it was a great dining experience with excellent food and plenty of flavor in every bite. We'll definitely be back for more. read more
This place is great for both bbq and bbq fusion with fried rice! The brisket was super tender and moist, the bark was very flavorful and not overly salty. Probably one of my favorite briskets in Houston so far. The bbq fried rice was also excellent with the cubed brisketz eggs and Chinese sausage. The prime brisket went with it very well! It didn't need sauce. The poorman's mac is excellent. Tomato based Mac with bacon was such a good refreshing and not so heavy side. The elote was decent. The staff was very helpful in explaining the options on the menu and friendly. There is plenty of outdoor seating if the indoors is too crowded. read more

Takeout review. I wanted some nice thick cuts of fatty brisket, but I kept it simple for the sake of my tummy. Chicken & Rice (jasmine rice) was flavorsome. I didn't eat the pickled jalapeños or use the extra sauce on the side, but the chicken was seasoned to barbecue perfection! The pickled cucumbers add harmony and refreshes your palette! Might I add, for a takeout order, I appreciate all the "accompaniments" that were packed (onions, pickled cucumbers & jalapeños, and extra sauce)! I cannot wait to try the other menu items. read more
No wonder Brisket & Rice were nominated in 2024 & 2025 for a Michelin star restaurant. They served delicious food along with quick & friendly service. Brisket & Rice has a twist of Asian fusion and Texas BBQ. And to be honest it's well executed. My friend and I arrived around 5pm, although it was later in the day the food was fresh and prepared very well. I went ahead and ordered their brisket & rice, half pound of the pork ribs, Mac & Cheese, loaded baked potato salad & my friend got their prime brisket sandwich. The brisket and rice came out hot & fresh. It was smoky, tendered, and I love the addition of their Chinese sausages. I can tell it was made in a wok because it had that nice charred aroma to it. The pork ribs were also delicious, it was peppery, nicely glazed, tendered and fall off the bone. The Mac and cheese was creamy, cheesy and also had a lot of flavor. Noodles were al dente. Their potato salad is not your typical potato salad which has mayo/mustard/dill/relish. It's more like a loaded potato but sliced. It was very good. My friend brisket sandwich was also exceptional. Smoky, tendered and generous portions of meat. They have two types of bbq sauce but the mustard one tasted better. It was tangy, sweet with a mild heat to it. Honestly this restaurant deserves a lot of recognition. The prices are pretty affordable as well without having to spend hundreds of dollars like you would at the Pit room or Pinkertons. The ambiance is laid back with several seatings on the inside & they also have a patio as well. I can't wait to come back and try their chicken and sausages. read more
The nerve of me to have never rated the best Asian Texas BBQ fusion food on the planet. Brisket and Rice originally sat next to a gas station off Eldridge Parkway, but they eventually moved to a larger standalone location on Highway 6. The usual staff has stayed consistent throughout the transition, which I appreciate. I first came across Brisket and Rice through an ad on my phone and thought, "Brisket and rice together actually sounds intriguing and satisfying." At the time I was living in the Energy Corridor, so it was about a 20-minute drive for me. When I visited the original location, parking was extremely limited, although I later learned there was extra parking behind the gas station. The dining area was small but clean. They had a self-service beverage station with Jones Soda, but no Coke or Pepsi options. The menu was posted on the wall and included pork ribs, beef ribs, brisket, BBQ fried rice (think classic Chinese fried rice with tender brisket mixed in), chicken quarters, and their staple brisket and rice dish. That one comes with a bed of white rice topped with sliced brisket, along with complimentary BBQ sauce, pickles, onions, and jalapeños if you want them. Even though I consider this an Asian fusion spot, they dominate the rib and brisket scene across Houston. Every item is consistently delicious. Every bite is packed with flavor. My personal favorite is the ribs, with the brisket close behind. The ribs are extremely tender, smoky, and honestly do not need any BBQ sauce at all. The BBQ fried rice has also become a staple in my house. The blend of BBQ and fried rice is something you do not realize you need until you try it. I have taken several out-of-state guests here and every one of them was blown away. The new location is a bit larger and definitely nicer. Most importantly, they finally have their proper brick and mortar location. The only issue I noticed is that there is not a very noticeable sign on Highway 6, so I had a little trouble finding it at first. My first visit there was also a bit disappointing, but only because it was so unusual for them. I went with my two sons and ordered a half pound of ribs, a chicken quarter, and the BBQ fried rice. They were not very busy, but it was obvious they were still figuring out staffing for the bigger space. I waited more than 45 minutes and the food still had not come out. I ended up asking for a rain check so I would not miss an appointment. The good news is that my next visit was back to normal. My order was ready in about 10 to 15 minutes. With their growing popularity and a brand-new location, some hiccups were expected, so I do not fault them for that one experience. Brisket and Rice is one of the only restaurants in the Houston area that has been this consistent in quality on every visit. The staff is friendly, hardworking, and clearly takes pride in what they serve. I will always be a customer because I know exactly what I am getting, and it is some of the best BBQ around. From the moment I walk in this place, I knew it was good. I found this spot through a video that went viral. They have changed locations from what I saw in the video. As I walked in, line was wrapped around the inside of the restaurant. Needless to say they were moving quickly. They have an indoor and outdoor seating area. Due to there being so many people, it was HOT in there. They have picture frames of this spot being on the "Top 5" Michelin stars in Houston. For Food, I went in for their Brisket and Rice with a side of street corn. I wanted to keep it simple with it being my first time here. This meal had a bed of fried rice with some brisket on top. Tender meat, loved the fried rice. I would just get it by itself next time. It had brisket, Chinese sausage, and I might be missing another ingredient. Now their street corn was amazing, it had their own twist of a mayo and queso fresco on top. It didn't need anything else. Overall, great food, good service and tasty food. I love the new location, and seeing all of the large smokies out back was pretty cool. Authentic barbecue. Very laid-back vibe to get a quick bite with friends or the fam, and plenty of indoor & outdoor seating. The menu is simple but everything was exceptional--from the quality of their sides to the perfection of flavor packed into that brisket.... Yeah. No disappointments. read more
We hadn't returned since my last review, and they have since moved. We finally got the chance to make the trek to NW side and in summary, it did not disappoint, as expected. The food quality is the same (top notch), and the new location has boasts a nice patio space. Although we did seat ourselves outside, I imagine a nice breeze shooting through on the hotter days of summer. Interestingly enough, they retained the same wallpaper that the previous location featured. The service is friendly and efficient. More recently, Mark Weins also came by and he gave his patented eyes-closed, trademark stamp of approval, so you know the food hits the mark. Can't wait to come back soon. read more
This was our first time at Brisket & Rice and despite the great reviews and awards I was wondering if I would like it. BBQ and Japanese fusion? What IS that? Well, I'm glad I gave it a try. We noticed the restaurant closes at 7 so we went for an early Friday dinner. There weren't a ton of people there but it got busier as time went by t in and the crowd was steady and there was always a short line to order. Since it's called Brisket & Rice, that is what we ordered. Counter service is fast and friendly. The brisket was very moist and flavorful and the rice was delicious too! There is no wait staff so we were on our own for drinks and clearing the table after eating. All in all it was a great visit and I'm looking forward to trying the rest of their menu. read more

The service was good. I was not impressed with the food. The brisket fried rice had no flavor. The brisket was salty but tender. The macaroni had no flavor. I really don't plan on going back. read more
Yep, it was alright. I can't really say that I was blown away, but the one slice of brisket I ordered was good, but not any better than other top BBQ spots in Houston or other parts of Texas. I do like their new digs on Hwy 6 and I will go back when in the area to try some of their other items when I have more time to explore their menu. You do have to ask for pickles, onions and the other stuff, so don't forget when you're placing your order. read more
