The Original Sandwich
Paul V.

Spurred by numerous positive reviews, I used my Katy Foodies Fork Pass at Goodcents today. $7.99 ($10 after tip) for an 8", chips and regular soda. Today the area had a widespread internet outage so the normal efficiency was impacted and it was a cash only operation. The staff was excellent and performed well. I ordered the Goodcent Original (Freshly-sliced ham, bologna, salami, pepperoni and cheese) dressed with adding olives and pickles on their garlic pepper bread. The bread wasn't as flavorful as I had hoped but being quite soft allowed the volume of fillings to be held well. I haven't had Bologna in ages, and I enjoyed it. The combo of meats complemented each other well. In all a very good sandwich, a bit out of my normal travels but with the Fork Pass Deal, if in the area, I will return... Note: Fork Pass is a discount program run by the Katy Food Group

Huge Italian sub!

This may be the best food deal in Katy right now.. $8.99 for this massive sandwich, a big drink and Chips or a cookie?? This was my first time here so I asked what was popular.. they gave me a taste of their garlic pepper bread and said they're known for their pillow soft bread. They were speakin' the truth.. it's so soft, so good. I got the Italian, cold sub, and it's delicious.. and huge. The owner Jax and her staff were all super nice. They let me take a little video of them slicing all of their meat fresh. I'll definitely be back.

Tried this new sandwich spot tonight since it's 3 minutes from my house. Very impressed. Everyone was super nice when I was in. I had the back chicken ranch sandwich on garlic pepper bread mouth watering. The bread was sooo soft loved it. Definitely would come back!

Second time there and both times a hit. Good subs, good prices, and excellent service. Have tried Italian, Meatball, BLT, and Club. All passed the family test especially the Club.

Bacon yes, turkey or ham...not enough to count.

Pros: soft, fresh tasting bread and meat. Guys were friendly and doing their best to provide good service. Con: One each of nearly shaved thickness slice of turkey and ham on the ultimate club. Nothing 'ultimate' about it. I was dumbfounded by the lack of meat on the sandwich. May try again down the road as I imagine this was a new business/training issue.

Harvey’s Deli - Cuban on sourdough

There is a dine in option however the place is relatively small and they have quite a busy "To Go" service so it is akin the having a meal along a busy sidewalk. Please don't misunderstand, if your option is to consume your meal in a facility or in your car it is likely more convenient but that ends the contrast. Because it is o "To Go" oriented for instance if you order gumbo (which I did) you will be given a small plastic spoon and salad (which I ordered) will be segregated (Like olives grouped together, feta grouped etc. ) in a container "To Go" container making it impossible to 'toss' without making a mess or using your hands. Let's address food which I have mentioned. Gumbo is akin to a Manhattan style fish chowder, not objectionable however not gumbo. The Greek Salad I gave already described with the addition of the fact that my dressing had solidified. When I pointed it out to the folks taking orders it was replaced however in this respect I'm glad I ate in...without a microwave it would not have liquified. Look, I am not an idealist, This is a sandwich "To Go" place I don't fault the owners at trying to make every square inch of a rental place earn money however the 'dine in' option is a convenience not an ambience. The 'gumbo' was not and the salad was a generous portion of lettuce, fresh vegetables, adequate feta however the initial dressing and the serving container for 'eat in' was disappointing. Next time I will order a sandwich which is a Deli goal.

I asked for a drink recommendation and she gave me two great options. I chose the Tres Cucumber and it was amazing. Refreshing, not too sweet, and perfectly balanced with a clean cucumber flavor. My husband ordered the Old Fashioned, which was also very well done. We shared the fudge brownie for dessert and it was rich, moist, and elevated with just the right hint of espresso. The atmosphere is comfortable and versatile. It works just as well for a date night as it does for a girls night or a casual meet-up with a friend. 10 out of 10. I definitely recommend this spot and will absolutely be back.

We were lucky enough to get a table along the perimeter at the window so we had a nice view and could still have conversation. We ordered some flatbread for the table (variety of 3) and they were somewhat underwhelming, neither warm nor cold, and appeared to have just had items dropped on top of them. Having ordered them once (to go) from this location as well as in-house at the Town & Country location, where they were very good both times, somebody was just a little off their game today. We also ordered shakshuka, which was very good and wiped away the memory of the less than stellar flatbread. I would definitely return here again and try other things.

I stopped in with a friend in town who never experienced this place and they were amazed. From the world's largest car wash to a wall of jerky. I received a Buc-ee's dog leash as a gift, and the very first time I used it, it broke. Luckily, I have a good boy and didn't run off, which could have easily turned into a dangerous situation. For something as basic as a dog leash, I would think the quality would be more reliable, and this clearly wasn't. I went back to the store looking for an exchange, not even a refund, and that's where things got super weird and frustrating. I was told by the Manager Miah that without a receipt, nothing could be done. But, in the same conversation, she told me the item would also need to be in "resellable condition." .... HMMMMM.... wait, that doesn't make much sense. Let me get this straight, if the product is defective and broke on first use, how would it ever be resellable? BUuuuuuut if I did have a receipt, suddenly the broken leash is acceptable for exchange? The logic just didn't add up. Miah then insisted on stressing "store policy" and that she could lose her job for making an exception. But isn't store policy to satisfy your customers and provide them with an experience that makes them want to return. That's hard to believe that taking care of a customer over a clearly defective $20 item would be a fireable offense. Come on guys, where is the use of basic common sense. The most disappointing is that I've been a loyal Buc-ee's customer. Every year before visiting family overseas, we spend $100's of dollars on Buc-ee's merchandise, snacks, and gifts to take with us. It's been a tradition, one that ended today. Completely shocked that a company valued at over $2 Billion would choose to stand firm over a $20 defective leash. How about you guys do a better job training management to handle situations like this with a little flexibility and customer-first thinking vs. scaring them into losing their jobs, which loses customers! I used to enjoy shopping at Buc-ee's, but after this experience, I def. will not be back!
