HEB can do no wrong!!! It's already my favorite grocery store and to find a location with not only a BBQ restaurant and an Auntie Anne's is a dream! I've tried majority of the meats here including the turkey breast, brisket, ribs and chicken. The smoked turkey breast is surprisingly so juicy and tender. The brisket has been good all times i've ordered it. The ribs are also pretty tasty. I can't lie there's been a time or two when the ribs and brisket weren't as tender as i'd like but it happens with BBQ and it still tastes good. The only meat I did not like was the chicken. It was dry, the skin was chewy and didn't have much flavor. It could've been a bad day so maybe I'd try again but Im okay sticking with other meats. Also, I don't really love the bbq sauces, the flavor isn't the best but it's edible. Everything comes with bread, pickles, onions and jalapeños if you want. The sides are just okay in opinion, I don't have to have them but the ones I do love are the be a baked potatoes, fries, and the banana pudding. Those are all really good. I was surprised by the banana pudding honestly as it was homemade. Service was quick, and the staff smiled like they meant it (which already puts them above half the BBQ spots out there). Absolutely the worst "bbq" we have ever had. It was all cold and obviously sitting out a long time. The kiosk asked which meat I wanted. I said flat (lean) and got dried out fat. The crust was bone dry and my wife commented "this is so salty I can't eat this." Wife ordered the platter which when we got home weighed a whopping 1/16 pound. And no onion rings. At that price point... Brisket sandwich...Bun was hard as a rock. Not even in the realm of "edible". Onions were so old they had practically melted. Had to ask for pickles which was a moot point. Forgot our onion rings and at this point the whole experience was so bad I didn't care. Called to get service and was summarily dismissed. No refund was available. This was like really wanting a toy as a child and being kicked in the cheek by a sibling teasing you. I just wanted some d**n BBQ. I know now to not repeat this mistake in Texas. I'd say the food is 8/10. It's good just not great. I had a few hard pieces in my pulled pork where it got overcooked but the flavor was solid. Let me just say this, I snapped a few pictures while ordering of the inside, but the food got scarfed up before I could even get my phone back out. The dine in was a great idea and being attached to HEB is just the best of ideas. It is an also a great idea to have a drive thru. The service was super friendly and they were offering samples of the beef ribs. OMG. GET THEM ! The sweet sauce was excellent. The desserts were all delish we know because, we got some of each. Please when you are in Bridgeland area , show this business some love. The dining area was very clean and well kept. First off, this is the cutest HEB - it's brand new & huge. My 4 year old asks to go to HEB daily. We went here to check it out as it's also my husband's dream to live in a neighborhood right next to a big HEB. I am not a fan of grocery stores mainly because a lot of people just stop their shopping cart in the most inappropriate areas and create traffic jams. It really tests my character and patience. lol We ate dinner here and enjoyed it. I feel like HEB really studied the BBQ culture in Texas and nailed it. We bought 2 brisket chili's for hubs and myself as we saw it was a limited time on the menu. It was flavorful and had a good chili spice to it, the brisket was soft, and presented with the fixing (sour cream, shredded cheese & green onions) that you can eliminate at the kiosk. The fried okra was SLIGHTLY oversalted but a) my son was eating it which he proclaims he doesn't like veggies ; b) it's better than bland fried okra. So it was still a win, My son got the turkey macaroni, I don't think he had any complaints as what kid complains about macaroni? The iced tea bar: oh my goodness. SOOO.. I have never cared for iced tea until I was pregnant during the summer of 2020. I couldn't & still can't get enough! My son loves it too. So the options here made my heart happy. We tried True Texas BBQ after shopping at the new HEB in Bridgelands. We were a bit hesitant at first, but overall it was delicious! THEY HAVE FRIED OKRA! I rarely see fried okra at a BBQ place. It seemed more flour batter than cornmeal, but I enjoyed it. They offered a jalapeño ranch to dip it in, which was a plus. We ordered the turkey sandwich, the brisket nachos, and the 1 meat plate with brisket. Everything was good. I wish the warm food was was a little warmer, but overall everything tasted good. They have a smaller sandwich, which is a good size for kids or someone looking for a smaller portion. They also have chicken tenders if your kids do not like traditional BBQ. I saw a lot of families with chicken tenders for their kids. Also, prices seemed reasonable for a BBQ place. Our whole meal was $31-$32 for 3 meals, 1 drink, and 1 kid's drink. One of the worst BBQ places that I have ever been. First time I was there I ordered the 2 meat plate to go (Brisket and Ribs). When I got home there was a thin single slice of brisket about one bit size, with about 2 full spoons of potato salad and equal amount for brisket beans. I was so angry and wanted to drive back to give them a piece of my mind. The second time I was there, I have ordered fatty brisket sandwich and turkey sandwich, much to my surprise two burger buns with little dry meat that is hardly to be considered as a topping without anything else. I didn't want to cause trouble, and I left my sandwiches on the table and left. They are so cheap at that location giving what seems to be a kids meal size regardless to what I ordered. We have eaten in the restaurant at HEB several times and food was excellent. However, when we ordered a party pack to go we had a different experience. The service was excellent as always, however once unpacked and digging into the food we found that the brisket was a huge slab of fat. Not moist or fatty as normal, just a huge hung of sliced fat. Tried the Texas Bar BQ at the Bridgeland HEB last week (2/27/2025). They were out of everything we ordered so had to just pick through what they had left. We had, turkey it was ok, chicken was good, burnt ends were very tasty, cornbread, potato salad was good, jury still out on the creamed corn. We were there around 7 or 7:30 so we will try one more time. I just get a bit concerned about places that don't make enough food and can't take care of their customers. Next time we will try around 6. I did ask the person waiting on us if they just got slammed earlier or do they always run out of stuff. Drove there in the pouring rain tonight anticipating having good bbq for dinner. It was a total fail. Wife ordered a two meat plate with brisket and turkey and I had a one meat plate with turkey. After several minutes someone came to the table and said they were out of mac and cheese so instead we substituted cole slaw. After serveral more minutes my name was called but when I went to the counter was told they were out of turkey. So both of us said we would have links instead, guess what they were out of links also. Rather than play a guessing game as to what meats they did have, if they had any meat at all, I asked for a refund. Was told they couldn't give a refund there and I would have to go to the HEB customer service, which I found was closed. Asked someone at the self check out and was told just go thru a check out line. Waited several minutes in a checkout and guess what they couldn't give a refund either. Finally a manager came over and directed me to a small desk and he finally did successfully process the refund. After all this I don't think we will ever go back to True Texas. The people working the counter should know what meats and sides they have before you place your order. If we had been told what they were out of we would not have place our order and simply gone to another nearby BBQ location which is ultimately what we did and finally were able to enjoy bbq for dinner.
