Absolutely the worst "bbq" we have ever had. It was all cold and obviously sitting out a long time. The kiosk asked which meat I wanted. I said flat (lean) and got dried out fat. The crust was bone dry and my wife commented "this is so salty I can't eat this." Wife ordered the platter which when we got home weighed a whopping 1/16 pound. And no onion rings. At that price point... Brisket sandwich...Bun was hard as a rock. Not even in the realm of "edible". Onions were so old they had practically melted. Had to ask for pickles which was a moot point. Forgot our onion rings and at this point the whole experience was so bad I didn't care. Called to get service and was summarily dismissed. No refund was available. This was like really wanting a toy as a child and being kicked in the cheek by a sibling teasing you. I just wanted some d**n BBQ. I know now to not repeat this mistake in Texas. My wife and I literally threw out both our orders (minus onion rings...cause well we didn't get any even though we paid for them) and microwaved some nuggies. Probably...no. Will never eat here again. This is the 3rd time we have paid for and wasted food. Lots of $$ and no attempt at rectifying the problem. So. Food? 0 stars. Service? 0 stars. Experience. Unfortunately I cannot leave negative stars. So. 0 Rock solid 1.

A CONVENIENT BBQ STOP IN THE BRIDGELAND COMMUNITY Hey everyone! This BBQ spot is tucked inside the newly-built H-E-B Shopping Center in the heart of the Bridgeland Community, right near Bridgeland High School. Since my daughter and I both teach at the high school, we often find ourselves lured in by the mouthwatering aroma of smoked BBQ during our lunch break. Today, we stopped by for a hearty and satisfying meal. It was so filling, in fact, that we ended up taking leftovers home and finishing them for dinner. My meal was just $20. Not bad at all! It included a tall bottle of H-E-B brand alkaline water, a large sliced beef marble-cut brisket sandwich, and a small side of coleslaw. While the sandwich was generous and flavorful, I was a little disappointed with the pickle situation -- I asked for extra but only got four. When you've got a sandwich that big, you really need a better pickle-to-sandwich ratio. You know what I mean? My daughter went with a one-meat plate featuring lean sliced beef, collard greens, and mac and cheese, along with a bottle of alkaline water, all for $16. She said everything tasted great but noted that the food could've been hotter. We both agreed that while it wasn't cold, it wasn't exactly piping hot either -- and that's our preference. Hot food just tastes better and feels safer. Food Ratings: Brisket - 5/5: Moist, tender, and flavorful Baked Potato w/ Chopped Beef - 4/5: Hearty and well-seasoned Collard Greens - 3/5: Tasted canned, lacked authenticity, but flavorful Mac and Cheese - 2/5: Too soupy; had a boxed Velveeta vibe Coleslaw - 2/5: Overly wet and lacking flavor BBQ Sauce - 3/5: Just average Pickles - 5/5: Juicy, delicious, and full of flavor Other Ratings: Cleanliness - 4/5: Dining area was neat and well-maintained Customer Service - 4/5: Staff was friendly and helpful Ambiance - 4/5: Comfortable and casual Final Thoughts: Overall, this BBQ joint is a solid choice for a quick, convenient, and filling meal if you're already in the area. It's not a destination spot and probably not worth driving across town for, especially with so many top-tier BBQ options around Houston and Cypress. That said, the dining space is roomy and clean, and the food--while not perfect--is satisfying. It's not amazing, but it's definitely "doable." If I'm nearby and hungry, I'd stop by again. However, I can honestly say the brisket at True Texas BBQ is the highlight of this establishment--cooked to absolute perfection. It boasts a beautifully crispy, deep mahogany-to-black outer crust that's firm yet not overly hard or brittle. The seasoning is spot-on, with the spices deeply fused into the bark, creating a rich, flavorful bite every time. This brisket is the star of the show and a true representation of authentic Texas barbecue. It's everything you want in smoked brisket--and then some. I highly recommend this menu item if not anything else.

I'd say the food is 8/10. It's good just not great. I had a few hard pieces in my pulled pork where it got overcooked but the flavor was solid. I wish you were able to get more onions and pickles because I like to go heavy on those. Service was standard HEB: 10/10. Ambiance - 7/10 It was loud because it's all hard surfaces. I didn't stay as I took mine to go which I'm rather glad because my car was nice and quiet. It's good just the prices are high.

Let me just say this, I snapped a few pictures while ordering of the inside, but the food got scarfed up before I could even get my phone back out. The dine in was a great idea and being attached to HEB is just the best of ideas. It is an also a great idea to have a drive thru. The service was super friendly and they were offering samples of the beef ribs. OMG. GET THEM ! The sweet sauce was excellent. The desserts were all delish we know because, we got some of each. Please when you are in Bridgeland area , show this business some love. The dining area was very clean and well kept. On my next updated review, and there will be a return visit, I will snap some actual food pics.

First off, this is the cutest HEB - it's brand new & huge. My 4 year old asks to go to HEB daily. We went here to check it out as it's also my husband's dream to live in a neighborhood right next to a big HEB. I am not a fan of grocery stores mainly because a lot of people just stop their shopping cart in the most inappropriate areas and create traffic jams. It really tests my character and patience. lol We ate dinner here and enjoyed it. I feel like HEB really studied the BBQ culture in Texas and nailed it. We bought 2 brisket chili's for hubs and myself as we saw it was a limited time on the menu. It was flavorful and had a good chili spice to it, the brisket was soft, and presented with the fixing (sour cream, shredded cheese & green onions) that you can eliminate at the kiosk. The fried okra was SLIGHTLY oversalted but a) my son was eating it which he proclaims he doesn't like veggies ; b) it's better than bland fried okra. So it was still a win, My son got the turkey macaroni, I don't think he had any complaints as what kid complains about macaroni? The iced tea bar: oh my goodness. SOOO.. I have never cared for iced tea until I was pregnant during the summer of 2020. I couldn't & still can't get enough! My son loves it too. So the options here made my heart happy. We had a great experience as it was low key, nice employees, clean, flavorful and will be back. Way to go, HEB!!!

**Five Stars for True Texas BBQ - A Savage Feast in the Belly of a Grocery Store Beast** We were somewhere on the edge of a fluorescent-lit HEB, a grocery store sprawled like a concrete mirage in the Texas heat, when the scent hit me--brisket, smoked to a primal perfection, wafting through the air like a siren's call to a deranged carnivore. True Texas BBQ, they call it, a name that hums with the promise of truth, meat, and madness. I stumbled through aisles of canned beans and frozen pizzas, my senses hijacked by the smoky perfume, until I found it: a counter of pure, unadulterated barbecue ecstasy tucked inside this suburban cathedral of commerce. The brisket? Good God, man, it was a revelation--a slab of beef so tender it wept beneath the knife, each bite a slow descent into a mesquite-fueled fever dream. The bark was blacker than a Hell's Angel's heart, crisp and charred, locking in juices that exploded like a Molotov cocktail of flavor. I ordered a half-pound, but I could've devoured a steer. The ribs, glistening with a sheen of fat and sauce, fell apart like a politician's alibi under scrutiny. And the sides--creamed corn that tasted like it was churned by angels, coleslaw with a vinegar bite that slapped my soul awake. The sauce? A tangy, peppery elixir that could make a man renounce vegetarianism in a single swig. This wasn't just food; it was a confrontation with the American Dream itself--griddled, smoked, and served with a side of paper towels. The absurdity of it all, finding this orgy of meat in a grocery store, of all places, felt like a cosmic joke. I half-expected to see Thompson's ghost behind the counter, carving brisket with a Bowie knife, ranting about Nixon and the death of decency. The staff moved with the quiet confidence of shamans, doling out portions like they were dispensing sacraments. I ate standing up, surrounded by shoppers clutching kale and yogurt, and felt like a barbarian king in a fluorescent wilderness. True Texas BBQ is a portal to something raw, something real--a reminder that even in the sterile sprawl of modern life, you can still find a meal that makes your heart howl. Bring cash, bring hunger, and leave your inhibitions at the door. This is barbecue that could make a coyote sing. --JS, somewhere between the meat counter and oblivion

    Sausage, ribs and turkey
    Janelle R.

I tried the brisket, sausage, turkey, ribs, mac and cheese, potato salad, cole slaw, beans, and jalapeno cornbread. The standouts for me were the sausage and jalapeño cornbread, but everything was delicious True Texas BBQ is connected to the new Bridgeland HEB! You access it from inside the store, and they also have a pickup window for to-go orders

We also had the pleasure of meeting the manager, Sean, who was incredibly kind and took the time to answer all of our questions. The brisket is more fatty than what I've had before but I didn't hate it - I wish it had a bit more flavor. The star was their homemade BBQ sauce - absolutely delicious! The potato salad also was a tiny bit bland but I loved the onions and relish in it. Macaroni and cheese was alright! I had also ordered a coke zero and that came in a giant red cup which I appreciated. Our server slowly stopped checking on us after our food came out. I decided to order their burger special, that comes with a brisket inside. I also got their Mac and cheese. So I thought my burger was below par. It tasted frozen and it was dry. They only gave me a half slice of brisket and that was dry as well. The only thing that I enjoyed was the sauce & the bacon. Other than that it wasn't worth a 25 dollar burger. It was ridiculous that it didn't even come with a side and you had to order that separately. If I'm making you a 25 dollar burger, I'll make sure that I make my patties in-house & on a brioche bun. The Mac and cheese were meh. It was clumpy & there was an odd color on it as well. It was also smoky which is fine but it had a charcoal taste to it. I honestly didn't even finish it. I was going to order some brisket to go but seeing as how underwhelming my meal was I decided to just skip on that. The owner did come out to greet us along with his flask which I thought was unprofessional. I also smelled alcohol breath when he was speaking well.
