I was really looking forward to this bbq after reading previous reviews, but was sadly let down. Was really hoping to make this my go to bbq since it's 5 min away from my residence. First, FB page posts aren't always accurate to the hours they are at the Kroger site, which indicates poor communication. Second, the brisket is so incredibly dry I could barely eat any of it. So hard to swallow. Chicken is super oily and greasy. You get a good size portion, but even then it goes to waste since the food is dry as a bone. Won't be back unfortunately. read more

Today I have personally witness divine intervention! While working in Houston I was told if I don't do anything else, I have to have barbecue. It's Saturday with nothing to do so I figured today would be the day. I looked on yelp for a few different barbecue spots but they were all just a little too far out, so I decided on one a few miles away. I had to make a quick stop by CVS and when I was leaving I noticed a food truck with a few people standing around. I drove out of the parking lot and was sitting at the stoplight. I looked back at the food truck and noticed it said Brown Bag Barbeque. I quickly looked up the name online and realized that this was the BBQ place I originally wanted to go to, but thought it was too far away. I immediately made an illegal u-turn and pulled in. I got the three meat plate with chicken (2x), brisket, mac & cheese and green beans. Of course I have to try to peach cobbler. This food is amazing and has been one of the highlights of my Houston trip! He's only there on Thursdays and Saturdays so I'm hoping to go by one more time before I go home. This time I'll be bringing my co-workers with me. Being from Santa Maria, California (home of Santa Maria style BBQ) I have high BBQ standards and this rivals some of the best BBQ I've ever had. I ordered the 3 meat plate with 2 sides. My 3 meats were Ribs, Pulled Pork, and Chicken. My 2 sides were Mac and Cheese and Potato Salad. Everything was GOOD! He also talked me into a Banana Pudding for dessert and I don't regret it at all! I will definitely be a returning customer!! My daughter ordered the Meat Lover's Potato. I was driving down jones road minding my own business and the scent of bbq hit my nostrils before I could see the food truck!! I pulled in , got the name of the truck so I could do my yelp research on the business. While doing that a worker approached my car and asked if he could help me. I said yes, I could smell the delicious bbq smell 100 yards away. I got out ,read over the menu , and at that time I seen a huge brisket come out of the b pit so I instantly wanted a chopped beef sandwich! Omg that was THE BEST brisket sandwich ever!!! This BBQ is AMAZING! I was literally driving down Cypress N Houston with my windows down, when this amazing smell filled my car and I had to find where it was from! The BBQ truck is usually on Saturdays across from Kroger and behind Walgreens. The smell of BBQ makes you instantly hungry. I got the 2 meat plate with brisket and pulled pork. My sides were baked beans and Mac & cheese. I got the sauce on the side and it comes with a slice of bread. The 2 meat plate was $12. A good price considering they give you a lot of food. I eat it for 2 meals. The brisket had a good smoky flavor. It was a little tough. I've had it before when it was more tender. It was still delicious though. The pulled pork was great also. It was more in chunks than pulled but the bbq flavor tasted great. The Mac and cheese was good. So were the baked beans. I didn't like the little bits of peppers in the beans though. The bbq sauce was tasty. I wish they gave it out in bigger cups. I will be back on the future. read more

I must say from the customer service to the food everything was perfect. This business is run very smoothly as they are organized with adequate staffing needs. They are on location only on Thursday and Saturday. The portion sizes were very nice as I could split up the items into more than one serving. The meat was tender and not dry . Found this place on yelp and did not realize that it was a food trailer until we spotted it in the parking lot. I'm not much of a fan of "roach coaches" but this trailer was clean and inviting. The staff inside was very nice and the pricing is on point for BBQ. There are some items that are not listed on the menu, ie. Green beans, so don't be afraid to ask. I ordered a number of plates with chicken, brisket, ribs, sausage and boudan. I got my sauce on the side because awesome BBQ can be enjoyed with or without the sauce. My sides were mac n cheese, potato salad and baked beans. Bad news first, each plate came with a tiny container of sauce. I needed a minimum of 3 of those containers to cover my 3 meat plate. Second, my brisket was drier than a popcorn fart. I mean it was so dry that it soaked the mini packet of sauce up like a sponge and asked for more. My dogs got to eat that as choking it down just wouldn't work for me. Good news, everything and I mean EVERYTHING was absolutley delicious. So much so that I would like to go back and get some brisket that is hot off the pit next time. This bbq can be enjoyed with or without sauce, when it's fresh. I can't say that about Rudy's. Keep in mind that they move around and are not always off of Jones and Cypress North Houston. The guy told me what days they are there but I can't remember them off hand. Today is Thursday so they are there on Thursdays for sure. Give them a shot as they are worth it. I was at three stars but them soldiering through COVID means they deserve four stars. read more

This food truck is not very good. I have tried them twice and it's the same thing, a hard past. The meat needs sauce for flavor but the meat is always tough. I found there food truck last summer and I've been there several times since, and there finally back again. I was thinking about having a BBQ brisket sandwich today, but there closed. Last weekend I stopped by expecting good BBQ, but my sandwich was horrible.. All I could taste was burnt brisket and BBQ sauce.. I should've said something but they were busy and didn't want to create a scene. I'm actually glad there closed today, as I found another food truck that was really good, no burnt brisket, and good BBQ.... Considering the fact they don't post hours whether there open or not, for people to know. It's a gamble to drive over there to find out, and plus it's kinda far. I was certainly hoping for better than we got. The prices are amazing, however I wish I could say that the food was. I had hopes that this could be a regular stop for me, however I was disappointed. I am one that truly believes that REALLY good BBQ does not need a sauce, sadly, this HAD to have a sauce. The cuts of brisket were WAY too thick so they were not tender. There was no smoke ring to speak of and certainly no smoke taste. The sausage was just sausage. Beans were just beans with jalepenos in them. Nothing really special. I ordered the Baked Potato with 1 meat, brisket. They do not trim the thick grissel off the brisket before smoking it and it had an excessive greasy taste. That along with it had too much smoke flavor in the meat. End result was I ended up with a nausiated stomach. read more
