I was in the area and decided to try the pit room. It was hard to choose what to get but I ended up ordering pork ribs, two meat plate with chicken, deer sausage and Lean beef, beans and potato salad. Also ordered turkey sandwich and 2 tacos , one beef and one pulled pork. My favorite thing was the fixings bar. I seriously felt fomo when I saw the food being made. The portions seem small to me. We enjoyed the food though. I did not like the pulled pork taco, maybe because it got soggy. I would like to try some other items and also their dessert.
Spacious.. they have a patio room with a huge tv, bar seating, and tables all around. It was like a tourisy bbq spot because they had like a tiny little gift shop like spot where you can buy trinkets or souvenirs. They have sandwiches and tacos. The best thing there is probably the brisket though. It's moist and fatty and easy to eat. The ends weren't hard, charred, or chewy. I don't think there was like seasoning or flavor was heavy but the quality of the meat was delicious. The sides weren't the best or even best selection. Just the basic corn bread, steamed okra, green beans, and a few others. They had like garnishes at the condiment bar. They have sauces like coffee bbq, hot sauce, habernaro, and bbq sauce.. the bbq sauce is the best. The coffee bbq sauce literally taste like espresso and was weird. The habernaro sauce was just straight medium spicy but no extra flavor or sweetness to it. The hot sauce is more like Louisiana or Tabasco type of hot sauces. The service was nice at the bar and counter.
Came here for the first time after church because my stomach was growling for food. My husband suggested that we try this spot since he's been here before. So I considered it. I'm not much of a pork person. But I did give it a try and it was ok. Not the best, the turkey was really good! The Mac n cheese was giving too creamy then thickness. The Jambalaya was probably the best part to be honest. The service seemed a little dull. Maybe because they just had a rush hour. The vibe is alright they just need to hold the flies from landing the meats they got out which wasn't really too hot. And I need the tea to touch my soul just right! Not too little and not too much sugar but that thing Needs some lovin. I love a good sweet tea and lemonade with my brisket meal!! But maybe next time itll be better. Check it out you may have a better experience then I did
5 star for brisket egg roll. I would come back only for that because it was so good I would disregard the rest of the meal. The rest I give 3/5 stars. I love Texas BBQ so I've been to all the Austin, Dallas, and Houston spots especially on Texas Monthly. Brisket was dry, chicken was brined for a little too long and gave a tire texture. Potato salad was too wet, too fatty, and didn't provide the acidity to contrast the fat. The sausage was decent, I give 4/5 stars. It was thick, juicy, and was similar to other places such as Truth, Corkscrew, Terry Black's, etc. The elotes was also too acidic for my liking and the cheese on top didn't mix well with the dish. Finally, the brisket was just ok. I must've gotten a lean piece because it had the texture of chicken thighs. The bark wasn't flavorful or smoky. Barbecue sauce was what I expected. Worchestchire, ketchup, and brown sugar elements make up for an average BBQ spot. Overall, I would come back and order 10 of the brisket egg rolls and call it a meal.

Decided to try the cheeseburger this time and I was pretty disappointed. Couldn't finish it.... My husband tried mine and said the same thing. Tasted like it was just previously frozen and bitter...I tried to mask it with ketchup or mustard and the taste was relentless.... I don't know if it was just a bad burger or what. I'm pregnant so I thought maybe it was my tastebuds but no, everyone who tried it said the same thing... fries were good and so were the 3 different tacos. Brisket one was my favorite out of the 3. Mac and cheese is usually pretty good but on this trip it was also just ok.... Staff is friendly. They have a lot of little sides you can grab. The pickled cucumbers/carrots are really good.
I had to try at least one BBQ spot when I was in Houston, and we found this place. I ordered the Two Meat Dinner, which you can choose 2 meats and 2 sides. I picked the venison sausage, pork ribs, jambalaya, and cole slaw. It was my first time trying venison, and I really enjoyed it. It's more like a lean, dense red meat with rich, earthy, and savory flavor. The pork ribs were delicious, juicy, and tender! I also loved their jambalaya rice, which came with sausage, ham, seafood, and vegetables. Highly recommended!
Brisket - super dry had a Smokey flavor. Not the good kind, but like your house burnt down and the brisket got smoked in the ash. Ribs - super dry, lacked flavor, hard to get off the bone Venison Sausage - these were pretty good Turkey - juicy Green beans - overcooked, dry, and super salty. Mac - plain and boring nothing exciting about it. Brisket Eggrolls - eghhhhhh. Pretty boring. I ordered a 3 meat plate, 2 sides, added ribs and an order of brisket eggrolls. $54.00
Pitroom has been a place wanted to try for a few years . Our work decided to pick some up for our annual holiday party. Large slices of brisket, sausage , chicken and turkey were ordered with all the sides . The carnivores in our office devoured the meat like it was their last meal so it was obviously pretty tasty. Service was easy to order and pickup . Will return.
My only regret is not trying the beef ribs. Don't be like me and listen to your wife when she says "I think we have enough meat". Get the beef ribs and be happy! Brisket and bbq sauce were solid! Place was super clean and inviting.

The place is huge with a good vibe. We went close to closing time so I missed out on a baked potato which was my main purpose. I got the ribs and sausage and they were okay. It was luke warm so maybe its better hot. The green beans were well seasoned and crunchy. The highlight was the rice and brisket eggrolls. They were good. I would go back for those alone
I finally got a chance to check out The Pit Room for a business lunch and was not disappointed. There's a healthy line around the lunch rush, but it's not as bad as Truth or Pinkerton's, etc. and it moved along fairly quickly. Like most other BBQ spots, you stand in line, order at the counter, then take your tray of food with you to a table. I really appreciated that their menu had plenty of offerings outside the 1 meat, 2 meat, 3 meat combo orders. You could get sandwiches, tacos, large group orders for various headcounts, frito pies, chili, desserts, breakfast tacos, and even a salad for that very lost vegan who walked in off the street. The interior is huge with plenty of seating options. They have a main room where the counter service is, along with a much larger back room. You'll find a table. It isn't the absolute best BBQ in Texas, nor town, but it's certainly worth a regular visit for lunch or dinner when you want some good BBQ without the ultra hype, crowds, and price other places have.

The Noms: Brisket and egg breakfast taco - the brisket was obviously the star, good flavor and tender. There was way too much egg overwhelming it. I had to take some out and the taco wasn't holding up very well. Jalapeño sausage and egg breakfast burrito - the jalapeño to egg ratio was better. Sausage had great flavor and a bit of a kick with the peppers. My biggest complaint is the tortilla. They didn't hold up with all the wetness from the eggs. The minute I tried to pick up the brisket and egg taco it immediately broke apart... and we ordered dine in so it shouldn't have disintegrated so quickly. Learned my lesson and didn't even bother picking up the second taco... ate the second one with a fork which really defeats the purpose of a breakfast taco. I did not enjoy the eating process. In conclusion: probably would not eat here again. Not even to try their bbq which is what I originally bookmarked this spot for. The tortilla was just too soft and the flavors were good but not enough to come back for.
Came to Pit Room one morning for breakfast after a long workout, craving a delicious breakfast taco. It was early, so parking was super easy and there were only one or two others inside. The team quickly made my brisket taco and I was in and out quickly. Staff was very friendly! I started eating the taco in the car and OMG! The freshly made tortilla with the drool worthy brisket... chef's kiss! Highly recommend for breakfast!

Authentic Texas Barbecue. Very good food, and awesomely messy. Got the pulled pork, brisket, sausage, and other meats. All were well seasoned and the sauce was incredible. Sides were ok, rice was incredibly well seasoned but the Mac and cheese was a bit underwhelming. I think the only thing would be the cost; quite pricey for barbecue. Additionally the service was pretty good - friendly staff who were more than willing to help. Very busy in the restaurant - definitely seemed like a staple in the community. Every table had paper towels, and while some of the tables were a little dirty, we were able to find a clean table to eat at. read more

I had been craving BBQ for a couple weeks and decided to give the pit room a try. My husband had been here before for work and he enjoyed it so I decided to try! The environment is super cool, plenty of seating, a bar, private rooms, a dessert bar. I enjoyed the atmosphere, but the workers spoke Spanish to each other the whole time until it was time to check out, so there wasn't much engagement. Which lead to a mix up of my order that we had to fix. What we are all here for, the FOOD: Chicken: Very juicy, tender, basic chicken, a great portion. I was grossed out by the amount of blood under the skin. (I KNOW it's an animal with blood but I've never had bbq with that amount of blood on the meat) but I'm not penalizing them for it. Def 7/10! Brisket: Super tender, melted in the mouth, great taste. 8/10 Green beans: Not greasy, tender (not mushy or undercooked). I think they may have spilled the seasoning into the batch they main because holy moly, a TON of pepper and salt. I'm heavy handed with my seasonings but that amount didn't seem intentional. I'd never thought I'd say this but the flavor would've been great with less seasoning. 5/10 Mac&cheese: Nothing special but definitely better than most bbq spots. I enjoy the texture and light flavor 7/10 Elote: Yummy but where's the beloved cilantro?! 8/10 Cornbread: Great flavor, not dry, and had jalapeno peppers in it! Super yummy 9/10. Houston has no shortage of barbecue, but this place understands that great barbecue doesn't have to come with a two hour line or a tray piled a foot high. The counter service keeps things moving while the food speaks for itself. The brisket was exactly what you'd hope for: a pronounced bark, a rendered fat cap, and slices that held together until they were pulled apart. The surprise for me was the brisket taco. Instead of feeling like a gimmick, it showcased the meat in a different way, balancing smoke, richness, and fresh toppings without masking the brisket. Good barbecue restaurants know their sides matter just as much as the meat. The mac and cheese was creamy, the sausage had a satisfying snap, and the house barbecue sauce complemented rather than covered the smoke. I really like the huge space they have inside here. Parking was a bit of a pain bc they had a bunch of parking spots that are way too small to fit an average sized car. The food was not bad. Not the best bbq we have had but I would definitely come back again. read more

First and last! The food is completely overpriced and bland. Was a total waste of money and experience . The beef rib i spent $50 was overdone and full for fat vs actual meat. Disappointed and will not return read more
First of all let me say, im an out of towner. But a southerner. I say all that to say, this may not be the best spot in Houston, but it is gooder den a mug! I was in town for business and was brought here for lunch by my now favorite coworker lol I had a beef rib (huge 4/5), smoked chicken (5/5) potatoes salad (3/5) and the salt and vinegar chips (chips) they have a bar with condiments that you can get anything you want from. The bbq is dry rubbed well, so doesn't need sauce which is good because the coffee bbq sauce (1/5). The star of the show was the beef brisket (5/5) They got busy very quickly for lunch so business is good. They offer outdoor seating as well with tvs and bar access. Id definitely recommend! read more
In the mood for breakfast tacos, discovered that The Pit not only does bbq but they also open early for breakfast tacos. They open at 7am, which I appreciate because I'm an early birdie. We each got the brisket and chorizo. I liked that it came with hot sauce and pico on the side, we also asked for the refried beans on the side rather than on the taco. We also enjoyed the serve yourself condiments. Unfortunately it was all down hill from there. The tortillas were thin and the tacos were nothing buy grease. I could barely hold up my chorizo taco because it was so soggy, the brisket taco was less greasy but still didn't rock my world. I'll just stick to BBQ, pass on the breakfast tacos. read more

I was in the area, early on a weekday. Looking for breakfast options, I saw that The Pit Room opens at 7:00 am. They had several breakfast taco options & I didn't need anymore info. The place is clean. Lovely entrance, nicely decorated & a good bit of room inside. I went with the chorizo, egg & cheese as well as the brisket, egg & cheese tacos. The chorizo taco was fantastic. Nice savory bite to it. Great tortillas. The eggs were from the line but were perfectly cooked. Paired it with the red sauce. Just a really really good combination. Seriously The brisket, egg & cheese was good. I felt like it was more of a brisket with sauce like you would get with a chopped brisket sandwich, more sweet than savory. Tried the green sauce here but it wasn't paired well with the sweetness of the brisket. Same great tortilla & perfectly mass cooked eggs. Great taco but more sweet than I would have preferred. Fountain drink machine was dialed in. My Coke was nice and crispy. The people were nice, food was good & the restaurant was nicely decorated as well as clean. 5 stars from me. I'll be back at lunch or dinner to try the rest of the menu. Great job, Team. read more
Your typical "better than other states" Texas BBQ chain. Their brisket was well seasoned and tender, like most. Wasn't as big as a fan for the sausage. The Mac n cheese was just slightly watery. But overall, this is your typical Texas BBQ experience without having to wait in a huge line. Cheers! read more

Tried the brisket egg rolls to start -- they were okay, but lacked flavor. For the main meal, I ordered the two meats with two sides: brisket, jalapeño sausage, cornbread, and potato salad. The brisket itself was good, but next time I'd definitely request lean meat. The jalapeño sausage was the standout for me -- really flavorful and highly recommended. The cornbread and potato salad were both solid sides and complemented the meal well. The biggest downside was the BBQ sauce selection. The sauces leaned way too sweet for my taste. I tried the coffee bourbon sauce and personally did not like it at all. Overall, some really good food items, but the sauces were a miss for me. read more

This place is crowded most of the time, due good reason. The meat is tender and juicy and the sides are pretty consistent. The ribs brisket and sausage are the stars for me. I always enjoy bbq green beans with true perfect char. The elote was creamy and seasoned just right. It's a great portion and the price is great considering there will be left overs in my case, the rustic vibe indoors and outdoors. The patio is massive and great for larger groups. The crawfish boil was so good and spicy but you can choose the spice levels. Parking can be interesting when peak times but definitely worth it. read more

The food is excellent don't get me wrong. This is strictly a service related review. I used to come in here 4 to 5 times a week without exaggerating. About three months ago I just stopped going because the service had really faltered. I tried it again last week. It was good when I came back tonight. Epic fail. I was intimidated because there was a long line in the front but the line really did move fast. My friend and I even were able to get seats inside. The barbecue hit home. Reminded me of this special times I would barbecue with my fam back in Jersey. I will be back read more
So it was my besties birthday and we wanted some good BBQ and heard this place had it. And so we drove the 18 miles to try it. We are so glad we did! As with most BBQ places it's served cafeteria style, go down the line and pick what you want, you could literally see the juices flow out of the brisket as he was cutting it (begin drooling here) you have a choice of dry or wet. I ordered the one meat plate with the wet brisket since I couldn't get the ribs I wanted, as they only serve those by the pound at just under $35 (that'll be a separate trip) and double Mac n Cheese ( had it from a reliable source, a 4 year old as we were coming in the door that it was "the bomb!) that little man knew what he was talking about! They even had my favorite Mexican Coke and the good tiny ice! The brisket was so juicy and tender it was falling apart just looking at it. And wasn't over seasoned like most places do to a point that you can't even taste the meat, it had its natural flavor enhanced with a bit of salt and possibly hickory. I honestly haven't had brisket that good EVER and I'm really old AND from Texas to be saying that, so you know it's good! Now let's talk about that Mac n Cheese... it was a thick oooyee gooey cheesy, mouthful of heaven with every bite and made me real glad I got two orders of it. The restaurant is deceptively large, a bit like the "Tardis" bigger on the inside! They have a completely closed-in full bar area with the largest T.V I've ever seen inside a place! There is a small dining area that has an extremely large T.V in it that took me awhile to even notice. It has high ceilings, but is very quiet as they actually put in sound barriers to absorb the noise. I sadly can't speak on the dessert offering as, for once, I was entirely too full to even think about dessert... I KNOW crazy right!? The only negative I have to say about the Pit is their pickle situation... they only have one kind, bread and butter that not the negative what is though, is the fact that they have them mixed with carrots (still ok) and fresh jalapeños NOT OK! Fresh Cajun Crawfish at a BBQ place... YES and it is so yummy. IMO it is medium spice and a good size. I ordered the 3 pounder it came with a corn, 2 potatoes, mushrooms (handful) and an andouille sausage link. They also have gloves and they gave me a buck for the shells. There is indoor and outside seating. This is a family establishment, there were lots of families on the patio. There are also lots of screens to watch the game and bars in and outside.
