I really should just stop trying BBQ places, this one feel much like my last review. Yawn. In a city full of amazing BBQ, how is it that places like Spring Creek can keep the lights on? All of the food that I tried tastes like it came straight from a can. Maybe they sit in the back and heat up TV dinners whenever someone orders. The all you can eat sides sound tempting, but there was not one that I would have gone back for seconds for. They just tastes blah. Zero flavor to anything. Except the sauce. The sauce had flavor. That flavor was SWEET. That's it, just sweet. It's the first time I have *ever* brushed the BBQ off my meal. Do yourself a favor and head to one of the more established Houston BBQ joints when you need your fix, this one is just a waste of money. read more

Brisket sandwich was just ok; brisket was tender but a little dry and had no flavor at all except smoke. BBQ sauce was very bland as well, very watered down . Also ordered peach cobbler which was gummy and had no flavor that should be in peach cobbler, extremely bland and bitter unripe peaches, not sweet. I would not recommend this spot. Stick to Houston's finest for BBQ: Pinkerton or Killens. read more

I've been to all locations now and this location was the best yet. A new slab of brisket was brought out and wow these slices were by far some of the best BBQ brisket I've eaten. Sides were excellent too. Prices are up for brisket but can't miss that taste. I love SPRING CREEK BBQ! read more

Three stars is just about right. This place is the Luby's of barbeque restaurants. Nice cafeteria style food, friendly workers, clean and clearly a place for families / little league baseball teams, etc. Came with a couple of friends and ordered turkey with unlimited sides - $10. Turkey was pretty good but not great, and that's really the theme to this place. Sauce: pretty good but not great. Sides--sides are skippable and below average. Bread is good...so it averages out the sides. I wasn't really full and didn't want to fill up on sides but it was a decent portion. I'll never be in a hurry to come back here but if people want to go, I wouldn't say no. A-OK. read more

Acceptable ribs served by friendly, assertive, polite, and quirky people, but I don't think that's the main draw of this place. Sides (which are not that good) are all you can eat, and the excellent rolls are hot, fresh, and infinite. Sundays have free Blue Bell ice cream served to your table. Definitely diet busting stuff, and for a barbecue place it's disappointing that outside of the ribs and maybe the sausage, none of the other meats are that good, plus the sauce is too sweet (though it plays like a jam on those buttery rolls). read more

I'm here visiting from California & had a taste for bbq. So glad that I have this place a try. The staff here are so friendly. The gentleman that helped me was the perfect example of what good customer service is all about. I believe his name is Geo. The ribs were perfect, greens beans were amazing as well. I didn't much care for the potato salad, but it wasn't bad. Overall loved it & will visit again when I'm in the area again read more

I have been to the location twice and enjoyed the dining experience. It was worth mentioning on Yelp to give others a perspective. Meats are freshly sliced in front of you and the pricing is fair. I always go for lean brisket. While it seems like you may not be getting that much meat, it is a very good portion that I usually have a few slices to take home (and I eat a lot of meat). The sides with the meat plates are unlimited. There are also three types of BBQ sauce - regular, sweet, and spicy. My favorite is the sweet as it's not too sweet but has a great thickness to it. The spicy is pretty good as well - it just depends on my mood. The sides are unlimited with a dinner plate. Green beans, mac n cheese, baked beans (I believe), cole slaw, corn on the cob, and potato salad. I personally think the green beans are overcooked and a bit salty - but have other members in my party that love them. The mac and cheese is generic but creamy. The beans are awesome and flavorful...never too tough. Cole slaw is average. Potato salad can use some work - the potatoes are too hard and slightly undercooked. The part that I do not like is having to put your first serving of sides on your immediate plate. I do not like my food touching, especially hot and cold. And I don't like the policy of having to come back to get a plate. Yes, I'm a bit lazy and it feels rude having to cut in between newly arriving customers to get access. However, I understand that's their way of doing things though I think it could be better. Pickles, onions and other small condiments are also accessible through the main serving line. Any extra plates and the sweet or spicy sauces have to come from the staff in back instead of a self-serve option. The rolls are freshly baked and distributed by a staff member that walks around to the tables with each fresh batch. I love bread and these rolls are huge yet light. They can be eaten without butter, that's how good they are. Other points to note: the tables/seating could have been wiped down more thoroughly. I found crumbs and grease/oil spots at the table. And the floor is very slippery in the dining area. Of course it's more noticeable because of having to move around more to get refills on sides, etc. but I was extremely careful not to lose my balance or my meal. read more

Planned a big dinner for a few weeks and it included fresh rolls. I love those rolls, yet when I ordered them, I had to wait 30 minutes to get a dozen rolls. There wasn't a huge crowd but that was largely disappointing. I don't normally post reviews unless they were real good or real bad. This one was really bad. Sorry but not sorry. read more

Had a chopped beef BBQ baked potato. It was good but their sauce is a tad bit sweet for me. Nonetheless, it was good.. read more

Spring Creek Barbeque - Barbeque Near Me - Houston, Texas

I love the food here. For lunch a plate runs just under $8, so about $10 a person with drink. They have unlimited rolls they bring around every 10-15 minutes, fresh out the oven. They offer a standard selection of meats. Brisket, sausage etc and offer all on sandwiches in addition to plates. I go to school in San Marcos, which is like 15 minutes from the greatest BBQ in Texas (Lockhart, TX), and I find nothing bad about the BBQ here. The brisket has always been lean, and I love the BBQ sauce. That is the primary difference between this and Lockhart BBQ, you get sauce here, Lockhart its smoked meat and only smoked meat. The service is very hospitable. They will welcome you and wish you the best on your way out the door. In all a great place to eat. They have many booths and smaller tables, a few larger round tables, and a large area that never seems to be open I guess for group reservation or overflow. read more

Lunch specials - beef, sausage, pork, or ham for under $8.95? We were hooked even before we went down the line to see the meats. The beef brisket is by far the best thing on the menu. These bad boys have a very subtle hickory flavor and are perfectly tender. We've been here three times, and they have yet to scrimp on the beef. The portions are generous, and I don't know if you could ever get that in California for that price (and two sides!). Not only do you scoop as much sides as you can possibly fit on the tray, but they welcomed me to come up and take seconds (of the sides). I am not sure if that was just because we had ordered the lunch special, but I could hardly believe my ears. In California, that's an extra four dollars at a normal restaurant, easy. In Texas, taking extra sides is highly encouraged - even free. I love it! The ribs are excellent. They are slightly charred but the meat is still soft, and easily taken off with a fork. I recommend adding in the sauce, where the beef brisket doesn't need anything. The sausage is standard. Go to Rudy's or Goode Co. BBQ for better sausage. When you opt for take out, you can buy per pound for 12.95, which is a pretty good price. They offer you a complimentary drink while you wait, and bread too! Love the hospitality here. They really strive for repeat business here. Lucille's BBQ in CA, you have been replaced. read more

I see why I haven't eaten at this place in years. Ordered two brisket plates to go. The portion sizes were very small for the price. Also we couldn't eat our coleslaw because it tasted and smelled weird. I'm praying the one bite I took doesn't make me sick. This will definitely be my last time. read more

I'm only giving this place 2 stars because the brisket is ok at best. The service is awful! Slow and awful! After waiting in a long line it was finally my turn to order. I only wanted brisket no sides just a small plate of brisket. A total of 6 employees looked at me like I was being difficult. Then the meat cutter was interrupted by one of the other 6 employees to cut meat for a large to go order. Before they get back to me the lady behind my husband starts calling her order for her family of 4. Keep in mind my meat still hasn't been cut and none of the 6 clueless employees have asked my husband for his order either until he starts rambling off that he's not with them and he would like to order. Then a guy (one of the 6) tells us in Spanish "sorry he's new". Ruuuuude! I don't speak Spanish?! Once we sit down we see that a kid walks around with a bread basket passing out fresh rolls. Well yummm if you're loading up in carbs, right? Well she passes us by not asking if we'd like a roll. At this point my husband calls her out and ask for a roll. Her reply was that she was out and fresh rolls will be ready shortly. So he patiently waits and then he sees her walking in the opposite direction with fresh rolls. Keep in mind we're sitting right in front and center of the oven and roll making area. My husband raises his hand like he's in elementary, she makes eye contact with him and she keeps on passing out rolls to all the other patrons. Well this annoyed the hell out of me so I speak up saying "excuse me" really loud. The girl looks at me and ignores me to keep passing out rolls to all the previous tables. So weird! When she makes it to our table I reminded her that my husband had asked a long time ago like 15 min. At this point his food is almost gone so what's the use?! Her response was that she has to start on that side or she'll get in trouble. So basically the other side of the place gets no bread? Makes no sense to me. This is the last time we give money to this place. There's 10 other BBQ places in this zip on yelp so pick another one! read more

I see this place everyday on my way home. I decided after the afternoon rush to come here and try some bbq. When you walk in, simple left to Take-Out or Right to Dine in. I wanted take out. The cashier was very friendly. I tried the blackened sausage dinner. It comes with two sides. and fresh bread. A complimentary soda while I waited too. I opted for a Corona. (which wasn't the complimentary) Food arrived in 5 minutes. It was so fresh and hot and yummy. Service and food were both excellent. I'll be there next week :) read more

Got a two meat plate to go tonight. The girl did show me the food before I left, but I wasn't really paying attention. When I got home we had four small slices of brisket and about five slim slices of sausage. Worth $13+ - absolutely not! Definitely won't be heading back any time soon. read more

For years I have been going to the Spring Creek BBQ off 290 and it's nothing but EXCELLENT service. I wish I could say the same about this location. I am 9 months pregnant with a toddler and happened to be in the area to order from this location on West little York. Being pregnant with a little one, I either use DoorDash or order from the store and ask a manager to kindly bring out the food based on my circumstances. Because it's been done a few times at other locations, I didn't see any problem. I called the manager KEN, told him twice over the phone what I ordered to make sure everything was in there. First he came out with no receipt, then came back with the receipt and food and I left. After 30 mins of driving in a truck, BOTH salads I order have NO ranch. Who eats a salad with no ranch? Of course I call the store and ask him what he can do, by this time it's horrible traffic hour and tells me, "I did you a favor, only thing I can offer you is free ranch but you have to come back to the store." Horrible customer service! Spring Creek is a chain, and he rudely says he couldn't even offer a refund, gift card, nothing but free ranch. And blames it on low staff, then says that's why I should of came in. Excuse after excuse. So I call the store on 290, told him everything this "manager," Ken told me. He couldn't believe he said that and offered me a refund for the delivery of ranch to my door! This is not even from his store and he took care of me. Ken is in the wrong business and should not be a manager, customer service plays a BIG role in this position, which he had none of. Another manager from a different location should not of had to take care of another's managers mess up. I am very thankful for the manager at the 290 location. I will NEVER go back to hwy 6, west little york location! read more

This is a pretty big BBQ chain in Texas, but it only recently came to Houston/Sugar Land. Not the best BBQ I've had, but it wasn't horrible either. The bread I think is the best part. They come by with FRESH HOT buns while you're eating - and that won me over. Another plus is that when you order platters, the sides/veggies are all-you-can-eat, meaning you can go back and get as much as you want or try all of them or whatever your heart desires! As for the meat, make sure you ask for the wet/moist brisket, which is pretty smooth and juicy. The sausage is pretty hefty as well, lots of flavor, but not as spicy as I'd like it to be. Overall, OK. 3-stars is about right. A little biased cause I'm not too big of a fan of chain restaurants. read more

I love that the rolls come around the restaurant in a wicker laundry basket...and they smell soooo good. The guys in the serving line chanting/singing the order down crack me up, too. I love that they sell soda in a glass bottle (coke, root beer, and many others). The sweets are fabulous! Great family fun! read more

Today, my hubby suggested this location. It was a semi-disaster. Since it is my hubby's birthday, I really stayed calm but firm. We entered I and the meat server acted like all of us had not be there before. He told us that we needed trays and silverware like we were not use to dining. I let it go. Then, he was training another guy and failed to truest explain to my husband about the rib options. I ordered a dinner plate and I asked for seperate bowls because I truly have an issue with my food touching. He said it is company policy and they are not allowed to do that. I told him that the location that I normally go to accommodates me with this request. Once we were at the register, I noticed that my husband was not detailed on his order. I told them of my mishaps thus far even giving me a roll that was so hard that I could paint on it use it as a rock in my garden. Once we sat down, the beautiful lady serving the rolls came by and was so sweet. Now, I went to the bathroom and this is what was presented a filthy restroom that seem like it has not been cleaned or restored since Hurricane Harvey. I will be sending pictures to the corporate website for proof. All I can say it that we will not go to this location ever again. Horrible! read more

Order take out. Food was great I ordered a whole chicken and some rolls. The rolls were so soft and tasty.

Seriously,. this place is just OK! All the meat was pretty much DRY! The barbeque sauce was a little too sweet for my taste. The only nice thing about this place is that you can get unlimited sides! The rolls are good and there are people that bring a basket around asking if you want another dinner roll! My brother thinks that this place is comparable to Rudy;s bbq, but I really dont think so. Rudy's has the extra moist brisket, which is SO good! However, it is cheaper to eat at Spring creek than Rudy's. read more

bad service. took a long time to attend me. loud music. cars have gotten broken in (no surveillance cameras)

I LOVE this place! You can smell the fabulousness just driving by on Hwy 6. It makes me want to stop every time. When you walk in you are kind of assaulted by the "country-ness" of the place, but don't let it deter you. Simply veer to the right and begin your delicious journey to a satisfied belly. When you step up to the meat counter you see you have the usual suspects to choose from: brisket, sausage (regular & spicy - go for the spicy!) as well as turkey and chicken. The beef is always lean - something I greatly appreciate. It's all good - and the best part is, none of tastes overly salty. You will be served a piece of bread with your plate, but I recommend you skip it and wait on the fresh stuff they bring out to the table - that stuff is pure heaven! Moving on to the sides bar you will see the typical assortment of sides - potato salad, coleslaw, mac & cheese, and green beans. I never ever pass on the green beans - it has just the right amount of bacony flavor without overpowering the green beans. The baked potatoes are large and perfectly baked. Some other reviewers have mentioned that the sauce is a bit sweet and that might be true. I enjoy it immensely and have purchased it to take home. Whatever you do, do NOT miss the heavenly bread they pass out during your meal. FABULOUS!!! Worth a trip just for that yummy goodness! And if you still have room in your belly, try one of their desserts - whether it's the cobbler and ice cream or coconut cream pie, you will not be disappointed. Pure awesomeness! The best part beyond the food is the service. It is always friendly and everyone has a smile on their face. I always feel appreciated and welcome, and you can't put a price on that. You can tell the employees actually enjoy working there, which is becoming a rarity these days. While I wouldn't classify Spring Creek as "gourmet" BBQ, it is a fun, friendly, inexpensive place to fill up on good BBQ with plenty of smiles to go around. read more

I've visited this location several times and really like the bbq here and the prices are very reasonable. The restaurant has a country feel and it is casual dining. There are three things that are important to me that decides whether or not it is a good bbq spot 1. The Meat 2. The sides 3. The sauce. This place hits all three! I also love the fact that they are not stingy by giving you extra sauce because some places will change you extra. Then on top of that the sauce is warm, not cold and sitting behind the counter. They have another area that is for the dessert which they are known for serving peach cobbler and ice cream (my fav!). I'll need to write another review when I go back and try it because I was too stuffed from the large servings. Overall this place serves really good southern style BBQ and the people there are always nice. Oh one more thing if you order to go you get a complimentary drink (non-alcoholic) while you wait! read more

Just trying to provide constructive feedback so hopefully the owner/manager takes action. I believe they have the "mom & pop restaurant" syndrome where they want to keep control of everything or nickel and dime you on items. Just remember you're in Texas where there are plenty of BBQ restaurants. (1) Most BBQ placed weigh the meats before serving, in this place it is an "estimate" from the server and I usually get more food for my dollar in other reputable (non-cheap) places. (2) Why are the kids chairs by the entrance instead of by the tables to make it more accessible to customers? (3) Why are all the side items like pickles, jalapeños, and most importantly the BBQ sauces by the serving line where customers need to go back to it and interrupt other customers? I believe the BBQ sauce needs to be requested so it is not self-serve, really? Not having BBQ sauces readily available in a BBQ restaurant is like going to a Mexican restaurant and not having salsa. All these "cheap" items need to be in an open refrigerated table in the dinning area for customers to serve themselves. Make it easy for them! (4) Lastly, really work on your customer service and don't fight customers over all these little sides. The customer service is not terribly bad but it is not great. As you might know getting new customers is 6 times more expensive the keeping existing ones. Let's be honest, your BBQ plates are not the best in town so at least try to compensate with the aforementioned items. Trust me, people will drive miles just to have a great eating experience even if the food is not the greatest. Hope it helps! read more

I went here at about 4 o'clock last Thursday. Barely anyone was in there, and so we could chat a little with the staff while they were chopping meat. I called in to make a pick up order and they hung up in my face after 10 minutes of holding.

This place has always been decent and I've continued to go because it's close to where I live. Not anymore! Prices have gone way up ($17.50 for 2 meat combo) and quality has gone down. I decided to try pulled pork as one of my meats and it tasted stale and was too fatty. Never had bad pulled pork before this. Brisket was better, but $35+ for a combo plate, a salad and two drinks is little ridiculous. read more
