Walked in with friends on a Monday night and it was still quite busy. The location is very narrow so I wouldn't recommend coming with a large group. Many people were wearing their jackets since the space is small and the door is constantly opening and it was cold outside. The desserts are always good and pretty consistent every time. Their holiday desserts like their dragon eye are very good. I was surprised they had alcoholic drinks but it's a nice though. I have been wanting to try Spot dessert bar for a very long time. I went during the holidays as a walk in with 3 others. The wait time was under five minutes. Desserts were great and the staff was very friendly. The only gripe is the space is soo small and because we were seated at a table with stool setting only it was not possible to take our coat off, which made eating a bit awkward. The server accidentally brought me the incorrect drink but it was quickly replaced with the correct one without issue. There is a quick turn around time since the menu is limited most people eat and leave immediately. read more

I brought my daughter to spot dessert bar for us to try a few of the desserts they have to offer. The most popular dessert that I really wanted to try was the harvest which ended up being really good. This is the desert that looks like a plant and inside it has a chiffon cake strawberry cheesecake, so good absolutely must try. I also wanted to try the golden toast now this one is not as good as the harvest however, it is unique in its own way. It is beautifully presented hard to cut, and the taste is so so. One thing about this desert is that the crunch that comes under the ice cream makes the desert 100 times better I very much enjoyed it as did my daughter. To drink I ordered a passion fruit tea with Boba Unfortunately, my Boba was very hard and my drink had to be returned. The overall taste of the passion fruit tea was very good. My daughter ordered a Oreo milk, tea, Boba, which she also complained about the Boba being hard, but she decided to keep her drink. We were told that the new batch of Bobo wouldn't be ready for 30 minutes and I was unable to wait so we continued our visit. Always a nice experience when we visit SPOT. Went again recently on their 11th anniversary. Staff were super busy yet very accommodating. The food were unique and creative as usual. Tried to dine in once around an hour before they closed, but was sad that they had stopped seating new parties by then. Came a little earlier another day for late dessert around 10:15pm and was seated no problem. Service was so friendly and efficient, despite the small restaurant basically being full at such a late hour. I was excited to go down memory lane with the green tea lava cake and honey toast. They were both just as good as I remember, not being overly sweet but also satisfying the dessert craving with ice cream! We also tried an earl grey bubble tea, which was SO GOOD! I ended up ordering it again for take-out one day as my choice of bubble tea. With a little bit of sweetness, the earl grey flavor really pops up and the bubbles are sweet and chewy as well. The only thing stopping me from frequenting Spot more is that it's always super busy, and that the tables are all in very close proximity together. They also have outdoor seating in these small enclosed booths which personally don't look very cozy to me. Still a solid dessert spot though! read more

Came here with my friends yesterday. The store itself is very old and could use some renovation. The wood on the wall and window seats are falling off and missing. Our server Angela was helpful and accommodating. Not sure what the other server was doing when we waved and asked to get extra napkins. The desserts were good, but portions are small. Presentation is adorable it's like a little plant in a flower pot, with a side of earl grey milk tea that you pour over the plant. The actual dessert, to me, was an eclectic mix of flavors/textures. The actual flower pot contains strawberry/berry flavored cheesecake, berries, and Oreo crumbs. The little pitcher contains earl grey milk tea, and there is a raspberry sorbet on the side. I'm ngl when you eat all this together I felt like the flavors just didn't mesh..... Fruit and chocolate normally go great but the combination of berries and earl grey and chocolate was off.... Not only that but the texture combination of cheesecake, sorbet, and Oreo crumbs just didn't hit. I'm extremely sad writing this review because Spot has been one of my favorite dessert locations in NYC since I was in Highschool when it opened at the St. Mark's location in 2009. I went so frequently with my friends that I even met Mark Lee multiple times when he would constantly be at the restaurant. I would always stop by after going out to dinner to get that sweet fix or whenever they released a new dessert that I absolutely needed to try. I was especially excited when they were able to serve alcoholic drinks for the first time. They've come up with a lot of rules over the years that were a bit strange but none that would deter me from coming. Rules like everyone at the table needing to order their own tapas if they eat in or not being able to order a certain tapas special if the party size doesn't meet requirements. There was a tapas special that I specifically remember included 3 desserts but you can only order it if you have a party of 2 so if you're a party of 3, you can't order it even though it was perfect for 3 people with 3 desserts. We couldn't even order it for two of us and the 3rd person order something else. Whatever, I didn't mind, our party of 3 didn't order that special, we just ordered 3 different desserts separately and paid the extra cost. We understood what they were trying to do, no biggie. When they opened their Flushing location, I was excited because I frequent the area for dinner so I didn't need to go into Manhattan for dessert. This location didn't have as many rules as the flagship location in St. Marks, the service was so much better, and it was a lot less crowded so I started coming here more. Over the years they've been trying to promote customers to order through an app and build a rewards system, but we've always just opted to order with the servers because we just wanted dessert, we didn't want to download an app and go through the hassle of getting it set up. I went last night with a couple of friends and realized that ordering through the app was the only option now. Here's where it gets frustrating, in the app you have to sign up, make an account, place the order, and along with that, you're interacting with the servers a lot less and they're making you pay a mandatory 18% gratuity regardless of party size. After we were done ordering, 20 minutes past and the servers never came to check on us . They also never brought us water so I had to flag someone down and ask for water. The server then asked if we had ordered even though over 20 minutes have past since. If seems like with this new app system, they're paying less attention to their customers since they're trying to make things more automated. The worst part is, we came at a slow time so it wasn't busy at all. I guess it's nice that once you're done eating, you can just leave. What about if you wanted to order something to take home? Or if you wanted to order more things? Why am I paying 18% gratuity for zero service? I'm very disappointed in the direction that Spot is heading so I probably won't be coming back as much anymore. if you haven't been here before, definitely try one or all of their original 3 desserts; the Matcha Lava Cake, the Golden Toast, and the Harvest. Those 3 desserts have always been worth it. :) read more

I've been to the other Spot location on St Marks Place a bunch of times, but this was my first time at the Flushing location. The location is convenient in flushing, so I'd definitely recommend stopping by if you're in the area I've been wanting to try the seasonal menu for a while and finally got to! I got the passion cheese jelly pie to share with my friends. It's a cheesecake (but not as dense more light and smooth) with passion fruit jelly on top and a passion fruit sorbet on the side. I liked all the different textures on the dessert. The sorbet was also nice and tart. I feel like this was a good, light option if you're coming to Spot. read more

Ambiance / Decor: they make the best use of a very narrow small space: wooden stools, small tables and window sills. It can get really crowded on weekends. Food: all of the desserts are works of art. My kids' favorite is the Cookie Camp, which is a cookie baked in a small skillet and topped with vanilla ice cream. Chocolate syrup is poured onto the ice cream at table side. Harvest is another favorite. It looks like a small potted plant that you water with some milk tea. It comes with a side of raspberry sorbet to offset the creaminess of the cake and chocolate crumbs. TL/DR: this is my little girl's favorite dessert bar. Whenever I ask her if we should go get some dessert, her eyes light up as she smiles from ear to ear.... Love this place. I think I've tried every dish on the menu as we come quite regularly. All of the desserts are plated beautifully and are Instagram worthy. As with many others, my favorite dish on their menu is the Macha Lava. It's a chocolate lava cake with matcha ice cream. And the filing is chocolate and matcha. The dish is served warm and isn't overly sweet. The cake is paired well with the ice cream. The menu for the most part doesn't change that often. They will sometimes offer limited seasonal dishes. They used to have options for two, three or four desserts. They no longer offer these packages-you now pay per dish. My only gripe with this place is that the prices are steadily going up. I sometimes get sticker shock when the bill comes. Luckily, they do offer reward cards. You get a free dessert after the tenth one purchased. read more

Absolutely love grabbing desserts whenever I get a chance but the thing I don't love is being rushed when I'm trying to enjoy my food with company. Because this store is so small it's limited to seating and I get that but if I wait to get seated I should be rushed to finish eating. The food came quick but also my cookies ordered were cold on the bottom but warm on top due to the speed of everything coming out. Also having a check served to me right after our last bite makes all the sweets taste sour quick. Love love this spot! I usually don't like it when desserts are super sweet (chocolate for example) but the matcha Lava cake is my only exception! Super creamy smooth and tasty and the cake itself is soft and moist. As part of the set we ordered the Yuzu ice cream dish (forgot the name). Excellent dessert! Yuzu taste was strong and went well with the crust and the presentation was beautiful! There was a raspberry foam that went well with the item. The last item was the monkey bread with coconut ice cream. The waiter poured Thai tea over the ice cream and combining all three items went super well together. The monkey bread was crispy and chewy, coconut ice cream was light (but couldn't taste the coconut). I ordered the Earl Milk tea with no toppings. The earl grey was very strong but the drink was a little too sweet for me as well. Overall, every time I make a trip out to NY I will always try to visit any Spot Dessert places. read more

I've been here on several occasions, but stick to my opinion that the St. Marks location is much better in service. The prices of desserts at Spot have gone up over the years - from what used to be around $9 is now close to $12 for the same classics. But even with the rising prices, the service quality has actually gone down at this Flushing location. This servers do not hesitate to rush you and slam the check down on your table, even as you're still working on the dessert. If I'm paying an overpriced $12 for a plate of dessert, I would expect better service than that. The desserts, however, are decent and you can't really go wrong with the Matcha Lava Cake or Golden Toast. These classics have stayed on the menu since this place first opened for good reason. Even though the service here sucks, I still find myself going back when I grab dinner in Flushing since it's so convenient and fulfills my sweet tooth cravings. read more

Been here on multiple occasions and unfortunately it feels like I'm less likely to come back each time. Vaccines and IDs were checked before entering and you won't get seated unless your whole party is present. While lots of the desserts here are pretty for pictures, the quality overall is rather just ok--especially for the price (e.g. $12.45 for matcha lava cake w. scoop of ice cream). There's so many other dessert options in Flushing that are so much better quality for their price. This time around my friends and I got 3 drinks (matcha latte, Thai ice tea, and vanilla latte) and a matcha lava cake which we all also agreed were all just decent. I would love to say that aside from the pretty pictures that the atmosphere could also be a good reason for coming here but I unfortunately can't even say so. The space is small and generally could fit about 4 or 5 groups, the tables are quite near each other too which makes it hard for even the person bringing the orders to squeeze through. The atmosphere was so chaotic that it was so hard to have dessert in peace. It was extra hard being seated to another group that was talking quite loud (we basically has to sit next to each other on a bench on one side); I really didn't want to hear their conversation... After feeling rushed with our experience and having to yell at times to communicate, by the time when we had to pay for our meal their tip options on their payment screen felt quite brazen. We ended up tipping a decent amount, but definitely much more deserved than worth the (somewhat non-existent) service provided for us. It's really a shame that the shop seems to be prioritizing getting as many customers in the door rather while ignoring the customer's experiences after they've been seated. I hope this can be improved in the future, but in the meantime I won't be back any time soon. read more

This is one of my favorite dessert go to's in NY. I usually go to the one in midtown, but on this evening my friends and I decided to journey to Queens for dinner and Spot Dessert so happened to be 2 streets over. The wait can sometimes be rough from experience but never more than 15 mins on weeknights. Weekends is a different story. We were seated after 5 mins of arriving for a party of 4. We ordered 3 desserts: the matcha lava cake, puffy and the camp fire. All 3 desserts were really good, a little sweet but incredibly satisfying for that sweet tooth. Their spot is very clean, attentive staff and the desserts are DEFINITELY IG approved. I took one star off because there were 2 glasses of water we received where the glass was not well cleaned (still saw lip print from last customer) our server was very apologetic and fixed the issue right away. read more

By far the best and most inventive dessert place I know! Every time we visit there is always something new to taste. On this visit we tried the mango tango. It was a surprise presentation and that it was! They placed banana leaves down and precisely placed our dessert down on the banana leaves. Coconut ice cream, mangos, coconut rice, coconut cream and butter toast. This was such a delicious dessert! Although, a little expensive it was extremely worth it.
