This is a solid place to hang out with tons of space and seating. It's a nice vibe inside and they serve so many different treats. Their bingsoo and gelato is pretty good, but I wasn't a big fan of their doughnut. The cream was nice and light and sweet, but the donut itself was a bit stale. We tried the original red bean bingsoo, which looked smaller than pictured and also didn't come with the large red bean mochi that was in the picture. The mini mochi was a little tough, but the red bean wasn't too sweet. The shaved ice itself was a bit thicker and less frosty/icy than other bingsoo I've tried, maybe because their bingsoo is "gelato base shaved ice." I still prefer Cocohodo or Waffle and Sip's bingsoo for the price and portion, but the one here isn't bad! I keep seeing this shop when I drive down Northern cause it really stands out with its bright lights and corner spot. There were a few pastries, a variety of macaron flavors, and gelato flavors to choose from. There's also seating inside as well as a photo booth in the back! I came after dinner for a nice dessert but unfortunately, I didn't really enjoy it, or at least what I got. I decided on the black sesame gelato and a pistachio macaron. Since I got a small cup, they only let me choose one flavor, although it was certainly big enough for at least 2 flavors. Another Day and yet another cafe/dessert spot along Northern Blvd - this time on the same block as long time neighborhood fav Cafe Auburndale, but its nice to see that old Flamingo Cafe spot being occupied by something new. The draw here is hand made artisan gelato (oh and macaron, which I do not like personally), which isn't common in the immediate area. I like the size of the place and the long counter of treats looks very inviting. There is plenty of seating towards the back and a little outside patio area in the back (my friend had a little dog and we were invited to enjoy our treats outside). I ordered a ruby red grapefruit ade, which is an "Italian soda" made with sparking water and flavored syrup - while this was refreshing it was disappointingly 75% ice.. 3 sips and I was nearly done. I also tried their oreo gelato sandwich which was half dipped in chocolate and I enjoyed it. I didn't order the hand scooped gelato by I noticed they had size and amounts on the menu (S=5oz, M=8oz and L=11oz) do they actually measure the amount they give? This turned me off a bit. I noticed also they serve bombolini which are plump Italian style donuts filled with cream or jam, or you can even get it with gelato which sounds like something I would be into. The passion fruit was my favorite. It was not too sweet with the right amount of tartness. The tirimisu was on the sweeter side with less coffee flavor. If I could give this place 105 stars right now I would ! I got a delivery from one of the popular delivery companies and in my delivery package. I ordered a medium gelato and nothing else. I was so surprised that it came with two tiny little ice cream cones, two spoons and it was packed on ice with an ice Block I am so impressed at their packing and delivery but that's not it, the gelato is absolutely Delicious over the top. Cafe Jun's is a new cafe in town. Along the same street as Cafe Auburndale and Cafe Bench, what sets Cafe Jun's apart is it's abundance of gelatos and pastries. They also offer coffee, tea, and shaved ice (which hasn't started yet because they opened recently). They have a variety of different breads and desserts you can choose from. After 8PM, they give you a 30% discount which is pretty unique of the bakeries in the area. I'm not sure if this will always be here or if this is because they're still in their grand opening phase. The gelato and macarons were delicious. Offering a variety of fruity and milky flavors, their gelato was creamy and light. A small was ~$5 which allowed you to choose one flavor. Medium allowed you choose two flavors and three for a large. We ordered the coffee gelato and passion fruit gelato. I highly recommend both. As part of their grand opening, we also got a free macaron. We got the espresso and matcha macarons. The matcha was quite bitter and really held the matcha taste. The workers were very friendly. They often greeted everyone who came in with a smile and big hello. The interior had great lighting and would be a great place to get some work done. There was a good amount of space and tables. Here are the pros and cons: Pros: -Delicious: I tried the hazelnut éclair, raspberry gelato, and the chocolate lava cake. -Price: Compared to some other establishments, it's really reasonably priced. -Décor: Very clean and neat inside the store Cons: (I'm hoping that this would help the store owner realize how he/she can make this place into a great place) -Staff training required: Owner should instruct the staff to greet their customers properly when someone comes in, instead of just giving them a stare. -Trash can: Please remove the cheap trash can in front of the refrigerator. You have a beautiful one by the entrance. This makes the store look cheap. -Dish: Consider obtaining consultation from a food plating professional. Serving your dessert on a paper concession plate brings the overall quality of your dish. Nowadays, restaurants must consider "photogenic food." Even for to-go's, you should consider investing money in nice boxes. If someone is paying $3 for a macaron, it shouldn't be served on a concession plate. The store owner should visit the French workshop in Bayside to see how things are plated. Serve things on a nice plate and just increase your price by $0.50-$1.00. -Macarons: Your macarons do not have a smooth top. This usually means that you aren't finely grinding your almost flour OR sieving your almond flour on a fine-mesh sieve. The store owner should visit Laduree on Broadway to see a good quality macaron. I did not try their macarons, so I cannot comment on the flavor. -Napoleon: I typically love trying napoleons; however, I did not try it at Jun's for one reason: it looked very mushy. Napoleons should have a crisp layer in between the fillings, but I didn't find any distinct layers. The store owner should try very berry napoleon at Martha's bakery on Bell Blvd. -Sign: The store owner should consider revamping the storefront a little.
