The gelato here was absolutely delicious. I've tried the Cookies & Cream and Vanilla Fudge Brownie so far, and both were rich, creamy, and full of flavor. Haven't been to this gelato place for over 3 years! I'm so glad it's still here in Whitestone. The place is located across a park so there are some parking spaces on the side streets or across the place. I came with my friends on a weekday night 30 minutes before closing and there was a party of 4 still eating inside. My friends and I each got to sample 3 flavors each and then we each ended up getting 2 different flavors each. One of my friends got the blood orange and grapefruit which were very refreshing and not flavors you commonly find elsewhere. They remind me of the San pellegrino paloma flavor. My other friend got pistachio and ferrero rocher which are her go-to flavors. The pistachio was not as strong as I would have liked compared to other icecream places. As for me, I got to sample the almond cookie but it barely had any almond flavor to it. So, I went with the white chocolate cherry and rainbow cookie. The white chocolate cherry was light but heavy at the same time. The white chocolate gives the heavy feeling but the sweetness was light. Very unique and subtle cherry flavor too with some cherry pieces occasionally. My favorite hands down is the rainbow cookie with the perfect amount of the almond flavor I like and some chocolate texture which I could do without. For two scoops, it came up to $5.75 and there is a slight cash discount. We were still eating 2 minutes after their closing time and the employees did not kick us out as they were cleaning but we left shortly afterwards. Very friendly and helpful staff! This place is the ultimate ice cream gem! Every flavor here is good and there is something truly special about their guava and lemon sorbets. The staff always lets you sample away and thankfully, they have grab-and-go pints stocked in their side fridges if they're busy. A wall-sized window in the back of the shop allowed my toddler and I to watch an ice cream cake being decorated and that was fun :) read more

First, the workers in Chillato are the nicest people ever. The shop is super clean and super cute. Most importantly, the gelato is absolutely delicious. Chillato has a wide range of flavors to choose from (and yes, they are generous with the samples if you can't decide which flavor to choose). I rarely, if ever, eat ice cream, but I went to Chillato twice in one week because of all of its attributes. I'll be making more trips to Chillato this summer. read more

Need to chill out? This is definitely the place to be. As a huge ice cream fan, I'm really glad this gelato shop is close to my house. I discovered this place from a YEE a few years ago and have made note of it being within reach since. Prices are a bit on the steeper side but happy to pay as long as they keep it at the same quality. They have so many flavors--some are your typical gelato flavors, and some are seasonal. I really enjoyed the pumpkin pie flavor I had during their fall flavors. They give such generous portions compared to many gelato shops that I've been to, where a scoop is truly a mere scoop of the batch. Odd location with no other food place nearby but so worth making the trip to. I've come here a few times to cool down after a bike ride and it's a great stop before I ride back home. read more

I'm surprised by how close this gelato spot is from my home! I'm glad that I got to try this place out! They have a lot of flavors that you can choose from. From creamy gelato flavors like Nocciola, Pistachio, and Reese's to fruity sorbet flavors like Mango, Raspberry-Lychee and Passion Fruit, you'll find something that you will like. Too many flavors? Don't know what to choose? Don't worry. You can always ask the staff to let you try the flavor(s) of your choice before buying it. The Nocciola was super creamy and had a rich hazelnut flavor. I also enjoyed the Mango and Raspberry-Lychee sorbet flavors. When I visited, I wanted to try the Earl Grey gelato but it was nowhere to be seen. I assumed that they ran out but lo and behold they had it in the back! I was one happy camper and bought a large sized cup to devour at home. Not many ice cream places to pick from when you're in Northeast Queens. This place is the absolute best. This is a dedicated ice cream store and has the best Italian ice cream you can get out here. Came here with my friend to try out this gelato place. We were on a food/dessert escapade and this was our next stop. I tried pistacchio and matcha. I have to get pistacchio every time I get gelato. Pistacchio was nutty as expected and I liked how it wasn't overwhelmingly sweet. Matcha was creamy (nice) but sweeter and not bitter as I expected. I love the bitter taste of matcha so I was disappointed but if you like normal levels of matcha bitterness, you would probably luke it. Try it before you order. I was taking my family twice a week here over the summer. I filled up another buy 10 scoops , get one free card tonight. The owner gave me back the card and stamped an additional card and gave both back to me. I asked why do I need to save the card with 10 stamps , he told me it's store policy the next time I come in that is when the scoop is free. I was having a late night craving for some ice cream but most places were already closed. So I hopped on Yelp and checked to see what was open around me and found Chillato. I'm so glad I did. I originally decided to come here because their website listed so many different flavors. When I went to the store, I was happy to see that there was actually two fridges full of gelato flavors and then another one with cake pops and cake. They also sold little trinkets and candy on the counter. I decided to get the small which is the second smallest size they had. (Kid being the smallest). I choose Ferrero Rocher and Earl Gray. Wonderful service and tasty delights! Always service with a smile, and they are absolutely patient with their customers, especially with all the tasting samples. On this visit, I brought the whole family with me. My favorite go to is the Creamy Fig, but on this visit, I couldn't help but try their seasonal flavor, BASIL. Yes, it's exactly how you'd imagine it, but the flavor was crisp and surprisingly refreshing. (You have to be into trying new things to enjoy this one, otherwise, stick to the usual.) Hubs opted for the Fig, while the kiddos indulges in raspberry, lemon, and mango sorbets. As a doting mom, I felt it was my duty to ensure quality control of their choices ^_^ and sampled each on with my basil. The Lemon + Basil combo was my fav, with raspberry basil coming in second. Genius, the owner is a genius! Opening an ice cream shop right across the street from a school and a church is just genius! Kudos to you. I've already been here twice and will probably come another 100 times over the summer and after church.
