This place has potential to be spectacular except for the fact that: 1. We didn't have heat throughout our event. The venue manager/owner explained to us that to prevent her pipes from freezing she had to shut everything off. She went on to suggest that we keep all faucets on to increase the chances of the heat kicking me... which leads us to... 2. There was no running water in the entire facility. Which means no water to use to heat up the food we brought in AND no water to flush the toilets. Imagine having 80+ people using the restroom not being able to flush the toilet. It was only ok. There was a black out in the neighborhood and it impacted the event this past weekend, which as you can recall was extremely humid. There was no Ac zero, zip air conditioning in the venue, not the owners fault but perhaps in faith he should have rescheduled. To manage going forward I think there should be more attention paid to how the electrical system is handled. The chandelier above the rooms center has an extension cord which look like a fire hazard. Since he decided to obtains fan to try and cool off the venue (by the way it didn't work) the outlets were overloaded. Originally he had placed portable ac's in an area that was an obvious exit with plywood that had holes carved for the portable ac vents. Another hazard. I don't believe that he wasn't aware of the fire hazards. I think he operated from a place of not wanting to cancel the event. Not exactly a noble gesture especially when it feels like you are putting guest in immanent danger. Would I recommend this place, sure after its brought up to code!!! read more

If I could give this place 0 stars, I would. I am honestly not even sure how this business is still running because Marcia and her husband know absolutely NOTHING about running a business or worse, customer service. So my dad and I came to her super last minute, on Wednesday night 5/8 because we were throwing my brother a surprise graduation party on Saturday 5/11. She showed us this location and tells us she's going to give us this venue because the lady that originally was throwing the party could no longer afford it. So my dad is like perfect, we'll pay right now. We even signed a contract with this scam artist!!! She calls my dad the following day on Thursday night, to tell him that her original client was able to come up with the money and is deciding to still throw her party on Saturday, the same day as us. WTF? As a business owner, the first thing she should have done is said, I'm sorry, you couldn't pay for the venue and you cancelled on me so I sold the venue to someone else. I mean there are contracts in place! Again, she knows NOTHING about running a business or building her clientele. & this is coming from somebody who works in customer service and has a family business. So point is, she cancelled our party 48 hours before the party. Do you know how stressed out we were? Trying to find a venue with less than 24 hours?! On Friday morning 5/10 at 8am she shows us her other location in kings bridge that looked like a basement, smelled like wet dog and was basically falling apart. I swear me and my dad must look like peasants for this old lady to have even thought I was going to throw my brother a party in her raggedy venue. She gets offended because we tell her that this is not what we were looking for and we tell her that it is super messed up that she had us sign contracts and is canceling on us a day before our party. She was literally yelling like a crazy person ( I am not exaggerating at all when I say she has 0 knowledge on running a business LMAO) What I should have done is SUE her!!! I literally could have died of embarrassment just thinking about having to cancel food, dj, cake and having to disinvite our family?! OMG I'm upset just thinking about it again. She is so completely disrespectful, telling my dad that his money is garbage, actually she's the one that is garbage. At this point, I was like I'd rather take my chances and try to find another venue in the little time we had than give her a single dime. Please do yourselves a favor and NEVER do business with Marcia and her husband. Take yourselves to Casa Del Mar, ask for Edwin and he will treat you like royalty and the venue looks 1000x better than all of hers. read more

A few hours prior to setting up for my cousins wedding. My Aunt, the Groom, along with several other members of the bridal team (who came to set up) were set back, greatly. The hall had set up the entire wedding in the wrong colors and this wasn't even the worst part. The PLACE was crawling with ROACHES. On the tables, walls and yes KITCHEN . We had a woman explain to us that this was because it was summer time, the floor was made of wood, and that the back door was left open. As if this was a reasonable excuse for such a health code violation. Then proceeded to call my aunt an animal because she " acted like she never saw roaches before". One might expect sympathy, reparations and even embarrassment. Instead we were met with insults and even threats to cancel the wedding because we found their facility to astronomically atrocious. I wouldn't recommend this venue to anyone not even if you are in a pinch. This place should be sold, and newly renovated. We weren't looking for the Ritz Carlton. In fact just basic cleanliness and professionalism would have been sufficient. read more

If you are looking for a place that has many of the elements of the mid '70s T.V. show "Good Times", then this is the place for you. I went to a birthday party for a one year old yesterday and I was perfectly disappointed! The hall didn't have any heat on and the patrons as well as I could see the vapors from our breath every time we exhaled. No exaggeration. As an attempted work around, the representative for the hall, turn on a small space heater that did very little. The Men and Ladies rooms double as storage for clean up paraphernalia. The ice machine did not work, so the representative for the hall went out and got ice from an unknown location. There was no hot water in critical areas to clean dishes or utensils and there is a trip hazard at the building's entry with the rug not being secured to the floor. The best thing about the occasion was that the clown had the kids fully entertained with cotton candy and activities that allow them not to notice the substandard conditions. I did not have a good night out at "Sajom" for keeping my hat and coat on in the event I may fall asleep and freeze to death. I wish I had more hands to give this place all the thumbs down possible! How dare you rent this ice box out! read more

I booked this place for Jan 14th of 2018 to host my great-nephew 1st birthday party. I arrived at 12:30 to decorate because my party was due to start at 3. Upon my arrival, the place was extremely cold, the temperature the day of my affair was 20 degrees outside. I asked the woman there why was the room so cold and she said it was too early to turn on the heat because my party didn't start until 3. I had 9 tables and only some were set up. They had had a party the night before, the remnants of which were still there in the midst of setting up for my party. Only thing that was semi clean was the area in which to put the food. When I rearranged the tables to set them up differently, the food in which was on the floor from the previous nights party was still on the floor under my setup. By this time now its 1:30 and the floors had not been swept or mopped! My tables were put up on the previous filth! Now its still extremely cold, I was not able to take my coat off, I was told they would not turn the heat on until 2, since my party wasn't until 3. Needless to say, behind several tables were heaters plugged in. If the building had heat, why were the heaters on? I did not want heaters plugged in, it was a baby party & I had small children coming & entertainment for the kids. I did not want a child to walk into a heater on the floor to get burned. Time was moving and the floors were not cleaned yet, by this time its 2:30, my party is to start at 3. So one of my guests that was there early swept & mopped the floor, really? And by the way, it was still very cold in there. To my surprise, the heat in the building was never working, that would explain the heaters plugged in, and I bet the party from the night before had none either! And to top it off, the ice machine that comes with the place was not working either, was told that they would have to get me ice from another place, ice was not covered up nor in closed bags! The garage in the bathrooms from the previous party was never removed, the food area was extremely cold, my servers I had served with their coats and hats on! Bathrooms were so cold you did not want to use them, and all water to wash your hands was also ice cold, that's how you knew there was no heat in the building. To sum it up, I had a baby's first birthday party, with babies as young as 3 months all sitting in their coats & hats since the time they arrived. I was embarrassed and appalled to say the least! And the whole time I'm still saying the heat is not on, and I'm told why are you still complaining, the heat has been on all along, and now getting nasty with me. Told me it was warmer than it was earlier, of course it would be, I had 50 guests & 40 Kids. Did he not notice that my guests were still in their coats including the babies in their snow suits, and by this time its now 8pm! I spent too much money, over $1000 for my baby's 1st party to just be played that way. I don't recommend anyone to have a winter party there, or any other for that matter. It was like you were sitting outside the entire time. The way I was treated was unacceptable, my party ruined. I will also be following up with Better Business Bureau as well.
