Matcha Cafe Maiko delivered in every aspect!! I had heard good things about this establishment, and they most certainly did NOT let me down! We stopped by the mall they're located within specifically to visit them, and I found the experience to be wonderful! First off, ordering at the kiosks was extremely easy, and despite the large amount of people, they had our drinks that had been ordered ready in no time at all! My Matcha Latte with Sakura Foam was absolutely perfect in the sense that it was subtly sweet with nothing being too overpowering - I loved the slight fruity hints and the great quality to the matcha. My partner wanted the soft serve Matcha, which he found to be thoroughly enjoyable. It's in a mall, but the venue itself is very clean and easy to access. Regardless, I highly recommend this spot for giving a try! read more

This review will primarily be based on the mango coconut drink on their new menu. I saw that there were new mango based products on the matcha cafe menu and I rushed to get it. The mango was sweet and delicious, but for some reason, I've never liked it in a drink. The coconut flavor was present but the drink itself was mild and odd. Next time, I'd probably get the mango soft serve. This drink was a 3/5. The service was a 5/5. I was glad to see that it was ready for pickup when I got there. I ordered it 20 minutes in advance and I liked how the servers/workers made the drink for me on the spot. The ambiance was super lively, even though it's in a small spot. read more
Definitely a solid and reliable option for dessert. One thing that really draws me to Matcha Maiko is really the variety of desserts and toppings that they offer. They sell lattes, sundaes, soft serves, soft serve on top of lattes, it feels like you can really mix and match whatever cravings you are having. They offer toppings like as mochi, red bean, jelly, etc and all these different texture and variety make the desserts that much more filling. and in my opinion, makes the price more reasonable. My boyfriend and I will usually always go for the float. We love being able to have both a latte and soft serve in one. The latte itself is pretty decent and the soft serve has more of a thicker consistency which we enjoy. The soft serve is always creamy, smooth and had a strong matcha flavor. White Peach Oolong + Mango ice cream + Sticky Rice - tastes like mango sticky rice in a cup Mango Jasmine Coconut Cream - strong jasmine tea flavor, very smooth. Mango Coconut Breeze (blue top) - refreshing, tastes like coconut water + mango slush. Strawberry Matcha Latte - looks fresh and tastes good (bitter matcha + sweet strawberry). All four are good. I went here twice today. Once for the sakura coconut drink, the flavor had to grow on me, though I did enjoy it. I went back and got the ube ice cream, which I did enjoy. Thank you to all the girls who are working hard to make everyone's orders and ensure that everything is running smoothly! It is usually busy, however the wait was not long at all for my ice cream, nor my drink. read more
I've been to the Matcha Cafe Maiko in Chinatown and was in awe that they got another location in the Tangram mall in Flushing. It is on the 2nd floor of the mall in the food court section. You can spot it really well when you get off the elevators. It is literally next to it with the huge logo on the wall. It has no doors and has an open to the public concept that you cannot miss. This afternoon I went there to check it out and grab floats and ice cream and was shocked at how many people were lining up to get matcha! There were 3 kiosks and in person cashier to place your order. I decided to go with the kiosk. I got a matcha latte float that came with ice cream on the top. I got to decide on 2 types of ice cream flavors and I went with matcha and Milo chocolate malt. I also got a matcha pudding with soft serve and chose matcha and ube flavors to go with it. Surprisingly with the number of people waiting for their orders, my order was ready in less than a minute. The staff were super fast with the orders. I didn't even have to wait. The matcha ice cream on the top of the latte float tasted amazing and authentic. I could taste the matcha flavor really well without adding any sugar. The Milo chocolate malt was not that salty as I imagined. They actually did not balance out the matcha and chocolate proportions well. I ended up getting more matcha ice cream than the chocolate on my latte. After I finished the drink, I realized how much ice was in the cup. It was half the cup left of unmelted ice. I didn't even know that it was going to be that much. I wish they gave less ice so I had more matcha latte in the cup. The matcha pudding with matcha and ube ice cream was really good too. My daughter had that and ate all the ice cream really fast since it was so delicious and creamy! Overall, the drinks and ice cream were really good but it was too pricey and wish they hadn't add that much ice in the latte. read more
Good quality desserts and dessert drinks. A bit on the pricier side, but still good Ordered the matcha lavender dessert milk drink with no ice and 0% sugar. If you mix it, the matcha overpowers the lavender and you won't taste it much anymore. But overall still a good drink Service was super fast and professional. I finally got around to trying the matcha latte here! I had tried their seasonal ice cream flavors before but never the matcha latte as I wasn't a fan yet. Apparently this spot has one of the best matcha lattes that you can find in NYC. Ordering was done via the tablets or register. They also had signboards out with deals that weren't available on the tablet menu. Right now they're introducing hojicha as a new flavor. On weekdays, they have a special for $8.88 where you can get one of 2 drinks and a custard or red bean taiyaki. I got the matcha latte with 75% sweetness and that was perfect for me. It really might be one of the best matcha lattes I've had in NYC (but the all time favorite is still Tokyo). 10/10 would get another matcha latte from here or maybe try one of their other flavors. Prices are a bit on the higher side at almost $8 for just one drink. read more
A nice coincidence that we found out about Maiko Cafe Matcha in August of this year being fans of matcha. Of course, we tried the matcha and ube soft serve along with the amazing guava and lychee soft serve! Always up for matcha which goes well with various ingredients such as ube or adzuki red bean. We went to Maiko Cafe Matcha again in November to try the Maple Oat Hojicha Latte only to order the Sakura Foam Matcha Latte as well. Why not try these unique desserts and drinks?! Located in a conspicuous spot in the food court at the Tangram mall, you can't miss Maiko Cafe Matcha. Good customer service. Everything seems more streamlined with the menu displayed on the plasma screen and the promotional ads on the kiosk. Happy that there is a Maiko Cafe Matcha in Queens! read more
It's a great treat to have after your dinner. $10 per soft serve whether in a cone or cup. Creamy and delightful, I would definitely recommend this spot for ice cream. Great serving for one person or sharing between two people. It's inside the Tangram Mall. Accessible by the 7 train. Lots of seating all over the place if you wanna sit down to enjoy. Ambiance wise is very cute and instaworthy. Staff is always polite and pretty fast service too. Love their seasonal flavors from time to time like lychee + strawberry + mango. Tend to come here often by myself or sometimes with friends. Always taste fresh and not too sweet. Everything is 100/10 in my book. read more

This spot has some delicious stuff! Everything tasted fresh and the staff were welcoming. My order of the lavendar match was really tasty. Great spot to pick up something sweet or to dri k before leaving Tangram. The place is near the entrance of the food court so it can be super busy and loud. They have kiosk to order from too, but it can have a line and may be easier to wait on line. read more

Matcha Cafe Maiko opened its first store in Hawaii with the goal of providing customers quality matcha with the authentic taste. Today there are Matcha Cafe Maiko locations in multiple states. All Matcha Cafe Maiko products are imported straight from Uji, Japan. Matcha Cafe Maiko is located on the 1st Floor by the entrance of the Food Hall in Tangram. There are 2 order kiosks. The menu consists of soft serve and drinks. I ordered the Matcha Jasmine Latte with 50% ice and 75% sugar. When I took my first sip, I smelled and tasted the jasmine. No wonder it is listed as all natural flavor. WOW! It had really good flavor and the drink was fresh, pure, and not overly sweet. Their teas are definitely worth every penny. I can't wait to come back to get Matcha Cafe Maiko again! read more
I actually wish I could've given this place a 4.5 stars because I usually like everything that they served except for what I got this time around. They have a new flavor soft serve which is Vietnamese coffee one and I was sooooo excited to try it ad a coffee lover. But the flavor fell extremely flat and tasted as if it was old coffee grounds. Both my boyfriend and I are avid coffee drinkers and love coffee flavor anything but both did not like this flavor at all. As one of my favorite US-based (#1) chains, I'm so thrilled that Matcha Cafe Maiko finally made its way to NYC a couple of years ago. As unlikely as Flushing would be for a destination, it makes sense to be featured in a place as grand as Tangram. It seems to be working since there's rarely been a time that I've come here and there wasn't some additional wait time due to all the people. They have a number of folks working the counter, but almost all the orders are placed through a kiosk. Like all things New York, the prices seem to skew higher with soft serve cones at $9 and specialty items in the $12 range. A majority of their signature lattes are around $7.25-$8 and like all stalls, there is no dedicated seating. (#2) The matcha products, from the soft serve to the drinks is good. I personally love to get the best of both worlds with a latte float ($10.25) with a whole soft serve mound atop a matcha latte. The dalgona matcha latte ($7.25) is also worthy and almost all the lattes can be swapped out for hojicha. The strawberry matcha latte is an easy go-to since the Boba Guys made it popular, but I'd recommend alternative flavors such as the blueberry matcha latte or banana pudding matcha to mix things up. Seeing as hot as NY gets in the summer, the soft serve is always going to be a winner. From the classic matcha and ube, other flavors include lychee and guava. Swirm of all of the flavors above is also doable. Caution: ice cream melts fast in these parts. The soft serve is more like hollow serve (#3), but do it quickly. __________ (#1) Hawaii. Did you really think it was from Japan? (#2) Legit had to negotiate with a few aunties hogging up all the open seating. (#3) Laugh or eat. I chose both. read more
Since adding the option of ordering via a screen, the lines have moved much faster. Matcha Maiko is on the top floor of Tangram Mall. There's always a fun seasonal flavor such as hojicha or pandan. Their classic matcha flavored soft serve is always creamy and delcious. My friends and I have tried the coconut matcha latte and matcha latte with soft serve on top. Everything's been great and you even get the option to add matcha/hojicha/etc powder on top of the soft serve after your order is ready. There are no seats for this cafe, but there's seating in the food court nearby. read more
Located in Tangram mall, this Matcha Cafe Maiko location is a great stop for a sweet treat. They have a couple kiosks where you can order at, and service is relatively quick considering how popular it can get. They have a variety of matcha and other Asian drinks and cold desserts. Every month, they also have specialty flavors. When I went, I got their matcha and lychee parfait while my friend got their matcha soft serve. The parfait had so many different kinds of toppings and the portion was generous. Love their soft serve and I will definitely be coming back. Finally tried the ube-matcha swirl soft serve and I totally get the hype! The matcha flavor is bold, earthy, and tastes like really good quality matcha. The ube is a little more subtle but still comes through, and together they balance each other so nicely. I loved it! Now, I only hopped in because there wasn't a line (rare for this place), but even with no wait it still took a while to get my single order. With three staff behind the counter, I expected things to move faster. As for the taiyaki... big letdown. It was small, the pastry was burnt, and there wasn't much filling at all. Definitely not worth it -- felt a little jipped. I'll be sticking to the soft serve, and maybe give their drinks a shot next time. read more

Matcha Cafe Maiko is located on the second floor of Tangram in the Flushing/Queens area of New York City. This was very convenient for us as it was across the street from the hotel we were staying at. I ordered the Iced Lavender Matcha Latte and it was great! There are self-ordering kiosks to the side for customers to place orders. The drink was made fairly quickly and with no problems. It was a wonderful way to start my day. read more

Mom and I love this little storefront in Flushing's Tangram Mall! She told me it was some of the best matcha she had ever had, and this place did not disappoint. Their matcha drinks and ice cream always taste very fresh. I've had their: Shaved Ice, with and without ice cream - matcha syrup is a little on the sweet side, but it's perfect and refreshing when it's a hot day out. Maiko Special - such a unique combination of flavors! The chiffon cake isn't my favorite, but I loved the combo of red bean, chestnut, mochi corn flakes, and agar jelly. Mochi Taiyaki is a new addition to the menu and OMG it gives it a crispy, chewy twist! I'm a big fan. They always have matcha soft serve, and their other soft serve flavors rotate. The ice cream is always smooth and creamy. Ambience is simple, it can get crowded and you share sitting space with the rest of the mall. Service is always effective and recently they added kiosks that you order from, instead of in person. Would come back without hesitation! read more

I stopped at Matcha Café after the Yelp event & im so glad I did. This soft serve was sooo tasty. The matcha tastes like real matcha. I ordered the matcha/ube swirl. Perfect combo they have other items that I would like to try, mainly the banana pudding with ube. I tried it from someone else & it was really good. They have kiosks and they go pretty fast & it was clean. I would 10/10 recommend if you like real matcha. read more
I still love their lavender ice cream the best! There is no seating since it's just a stall in the mall's food court area, but you can find seating in the little area if you really want to sit. Always add the hojicha topping! read more

This was at the tangram mall near the food court. I got the matcha with cream cheese foam. The cc foam was salty and tangy which was quite delicious. The matcha was very light though, barely had much. My matcha had settled at the bottom and it was barely 2cm of it. It was mostly milk. read more
Had to stop at this spot to get a nice treat after my delish meal. Everything on their menu looked tasty, but I had my eyes set on that lovely look matcha ube mix swirl soft serve. Order was easy as there were 2 kiosks and it seemed to move quickly while I was there. 1 order please on a waffle cone! I had picked up a spoon, but who am I kidding I just went for it. The soft serve was awesome. It was the perfect amount of both the matcha and the ube. The Matcha was amazing! It was hitting all the matcha requirements lol. They also offer an option of getting matcha powder added to your soft serve as well. As much as I wanted to get it, I had a white shirt on and knowing myself I was already pushing it with the vibrant green and purple. Staff is friendly, all payments are accepted. Parking can be tricky and you might have to find parking along the sidewalk or use the Tangram Parking garage. They have flavors of everything Asian but I found it very over priced. The butterfly pea shoot drink was blue which was cool but for the steep price I wonder if it was even worth it. I think they do gelatos more justice than the actual drinks. read more

Service is almost non-existent here since you order on the self-service kiosk. They have a nice selection of matcha drinks, soft serve and desserts. Very pricey but good so it's worth it, except for the golden matcha ice cream for $15+. I really liked their ube & matcha soft serve with the crispy cone- it's creamy, rich and not too sweet~ Soo delicious! Also, their matcha lattes are pretty solid too :P read more
When I want a quick sweet treat in Tangram, I come to Maiko! The soft serves are delicious, creamy, smooth and so fun to order. They usually have a limited time flavor of the month - we've had Japanese melon, strawberry, black sesame, lychee, mango, lavender, ube, peach oolong, Calpico, Milo, and most recently, sakura for the cherry blossom season! (Yes we get a lot of ice cream) Anyways the taste of each flavor has been good. I always make a quick check to see if they have a new flavor when I'm in Tangram. They have drinks and other snacks too! The snacks are alright, the drinks are decent. Staff is friendly and will ask if you want to dust your cone with additional flavoring with powder. read more

Pretty good spot with a large assortment of teas, ice cream, and their newest offering: taiyaki. Tried a custard taiyaki and a strawberry matcha. You really need to eat the taiyaki immediately, I carried it for five minutes, and by the time I opened it from its bag, it was completely soggy and floppy. Taste was ok, though. Strawberry matcha was more matcha heavy this time, the last time I had it there was way more strawberry added and I preferred it last time. So seems inconsistent in quality. Very busy spot though, so seems to be popular! read more
Was super excited to try this. I tried 3 things on the menu. The maiko special with Sakura, I've and oolong tea ice cream was delicious. It's very rich and filling and I couldnt finish it with my friends. Their black forest matcha with 50% sugar and I did not enjoy it at all, it also had a weird gritty texture. Service was quick, we ordered and paid at the counter. Located in tangram mall, it's clean and has a lot of seating around the food court and the mall. read more

I've been here plenty of times and the quality is always consistent. Matcha Cafe Maiko is located on the second floor of tangram mall right before you enter the food court area. They have a wide variety of matcha drinks, desserts, and other sweet treats. I usually get some variation of a matcha latte or ice cream and it's very good. I will say it's quite pricey so make that whatever you order you will like because you'll probably spend $10+ for one item. This time that I went I ordered the ube/matcha ice cream and got hojicha powder in too and it was extremely tasty. Considering how good it is, it was busy (like always) but the customer service was there. I highly recommend to any matcha enthusiasts or people who want to try something adventurous. read more
This place is new and i got the lychee guava soft serve! Its a summer edition and kt was really good! It was also 9 dollars which is more on the pricy side. I slo got the mochi tayaki with custard but it came out soggy because they put it in the cup. It was three for 10 dollars. Other than that the service was quick for the soft serve but not the fish which was fine. Theres seating in the mall but no wifi. read more
My friend swears by the matcha at this place and the things that were coming out of the counter was so beautiful. I had to risk it all. Yes, I'm lactose intolerant. I popped 2 of the lactaid pills and went all out. The staff was really nice and this space is beautiful. There were so many choices at first I couldn't make up my mind, but I ended up deciding on a matcha latte with the swirl of ube and matcha ice cream on top. It was glorious, I made sure to get 30% sugar, so the actual latte wasn't sweet. As the ice cream melted, it blended to a lovely flavor with just the right amount of sweet and tart. The only issue.... I found it to be a bit pricey $11+, especially when I go to places that are very similar in the city with the same high quality ingredients. read more

I ordered maiko special and it was delicious, but very filling. You can pick up to 4 ice cream flavors. I chose lavender and matcha. There's mochi, corn flakes, and jelly too. You can add whatever powder toppings at the end. This is a treat to be eaten by 2-3 people. It cost $12. Can't wait to come back and try something else. read more
