Come on owners of Spork. Be kind and open a Spork near Boise so we don't have to drive 4 hours to enjoy it. We were in Bend and looking for something unique with good reviews and found Spork. Arriving at the restaurant at 7 pm we joined the long line that many of the reviews mentioned. Listening to the locals in line talking about what they've eaten there in the past made my stomach growl. While yes the line was long, we got to the front and ordered in about 25 minutes. We ordered the Pork Belly/Shrimp Yellow Curry, Bahn Mi, and for dessert the Pandan Flan. I highly recommend the curry. The flavor combination was fantastic. Pandan Flan was amazing as well. The service was top notch and even though the restaurant is busy, the staff seems like they are organized and it flows smoothly. read more

Despite the wait to get our food, I had a stellar experience at Spork! This is a fun place that has a little bit of everything. Your tastebuds will definitely be happy after a visit here! We started with the Yuzu Blossom and Thai Collins, which were both awesome and refreshing. We ordered the following tacos: Potato Bacon, Fried Catfish and Carnitas. A side of spicy fried chicken and a cucumber salad were also ordered. The tacos were tasty and filling, loaded with protein and toppings. The textures and spice level were right, nothing too spicy or lacking. The fried chicken was nice and packed a slight punch, while the cucumber salad was light and crisp. We stopped in Bend for a night on our trip, and since this was one of the most popular restaurants in town according to Yelp, I knew I needed to try it out. My friend and I came for dinner on a Tuesday evening around 7 pm. If you've never been here before, the ordering and seating process might be a little confusing, but all the workers here are super nice and help you if you look confused. The way it works is: you line up first to order, and since there's not much room inside, oftentimes the line will end up outdoors. When you order, they'll ask you your preference between indoor and outdoor dining, and put you on a waitlist for either if it's not immediately available. If it is, you can take your number and get seated. We opted to dine indoors, and luckily one party was leaving right as we were ordering, se we snagged their table. One thing I appreciated about their menu is that it's very vegetarian / vegan friendly, so there are options for everyone. They also offer a good selection of cocktails and beer on tap. I opted for the lomo saltado ($16), which is a Peruvian style stir fry with steak, potatoes, peppers, onions, and jasmine rice on the side and a fried egg on top. The food came out pretty quickly, within 15 minutes of ordering. I enjoyed the dish, but the stir fry was too salty. There wasn't enough rice to go with the food, so I stole some of the rice from my friend's curry. My friend ordered the peanut tomato curry with steak ($17.50) and thought it was pretty good too. read more

I Holy cow ... Mexican and Asian fusion.... YUM! Lots of big, bold and spicy flavors! This is a little off the beaten path ... about 1mile from downtown and when we got there at 11:10am, there was already a big line and a lot of people inside who had already ordered. They have an efficient system to take orders, keep the lines COVID safety compliant and easy to follow. They have kombucha on tap and the family loved the flavor (sorry, I can't remember what the flavor was). I ordered the grapefruit tamarind aqua fresco and it was refreshing, tart and delicious! I had to drink it slow to savor it (and it was also in the 90s during the heat wave the PNW was experiencing). For the food ... make sure to take a look at the specials board before ordering. So many good options. We had the catfish curry - delicious and the heat does start to build so it seems catch you by surprise as you continue to it. The spicy korean chicken has a nice kick to it and the chicken bites are generous white meat, tender and well coated in the korean sauce. The kimchi absolutely had a kick so if you like mild food, order the cucumber salad side (vs the kimchi). the kimchi was good though. My son had the spicy noodles (can't remember the name) and it was spicy! Too spicy, its more medium vs mild so beware. it was good, but his eyes were tearing up. The meatballs in this noodle dish dipped in the chili sauce is spectacular. I ordered the signature dish which is beef in crispy potatoes. The only non spicy dish ordered and it was tasty. The egg on top was cooked perfectly where the runny yolk gives more depth to the entire meal. Would order slightly different as 3 spicy entrees were a little much (I guess we are more "mild" vs "medium/hot" spice levels) and should have done family style so there were some cooling bites. overall this place delivers on flavor! read more

The warm, delicious tomato peanut curry is 5 stars!! I had mine with chicken, and honestly it's probably the best curry I ever had. The portion was perfect -- seemed like a smallish bowl, but it's so rich and satisfying that I couldn't quite finish it and my husband gladly helped out. I'm not sure why people are saying the service was excellent, because this is a place where you have to stand in line and order and pay & tip up front at the counter like a Panera. They bring it to your table, and that's your only encounter. Food is great though, and I recommend going at an odd time so you don't have to wait too long. read more

The workers got the person sugar water and a cold towel within a minute. They also constantly kept in communication with us as we assessed whether we needed an ER run or not. Checked this place out the other night. Staff is very friendly and cocktails were decent but the wait for food makes it not worth it. After a 25 minute wait to enter and order, we were told the food would be another 35-40 minutes. Upon arriving I was hungry, as one should be when getting to a restaurant. Our food took 50 minutes to come out and at that point I almost didn't want to eat it. I ordered the lomo saltado pictured below, my girlfriend ordered the spicy fried chicken. We both felt like our dishes were slightly more upscale than a Hello Fresh box meal. My dish came with a few pieces of meat but mostly veggies, undercooked potatoes, an overcooked egg, watery crema and cold rice. If there isn't a long line, give it a shot, but if there is, skip and go elsewhere. read more

Disclaimer I am a visitor. Spork was highly hyped, and while it was a great meal I think the hype did it a disservice. I thought it was just a solid place. Our group ordered a variety of dishes ranging from Dan Dan noodles to every taco to the steak salad to the lomo saltado. We also got a few cocktails. I thought the steak salad was very fresh and unique. My friend said the noodles were great. I think we were all kind of let down by the tacos- they were just ok. We stopped here before our very long drive back home to WA after an adventure at Smith Rock. We couldn't decide what type of food to go for and this place jumped out on Yelp with its fusion and we had to try it out. Upon arriving we saw the deck for outside eating and were worried we wouldn't be able to get a table but it did work out and we didn't have to wait for a table. This place is pretty unique in that you stand in line to order your food, then go sit down and they bring it to you. You cannot hold a table while you're in line. I appreciated that they had a small menu with different daily specials and fun cocktails. I had the boozy lemonade with rum. I forget what my friend had. For our dinners, I got the lomo saltado and she ordered the curry. Both were delish. The curry especially would have been easier to eat served differently? You can see in the photos. Those look more like takeout containers than how you would eat curry, but it worked out. Those were my straws in the photos, they didn't bring straws with the drinks (which is fine). I found this place unique and charming. The food was delish and I'd love to try some other items from the menu. We have consistently come to this place for their unique and good quality food. But this last experience for sure was so so average. I understand Covid has brought many challenges. But if the place is not ready for a full swing service, with high volume customers during a holiday weekend, it maybe best to scale back. The main change and concerns for us as regulars, were colder than expected dishes served, after a 45 wait to get our food post ordering. Not to mention the 30+ minutes wait outside just to make it to the ordering cashier spot!! The serving dishes appear to have shrunk!!! Maybe we are imagining this, but the portions seems smaller... so the combination of the overall experience is now a weak 3 star!!! After reading extensive reviews on yelp this was a top restaurant to try in Bend. With so many 5 star reviews I thought that the 1 star reviews were in no way reflective of the place, so I decided to try it anyways. Got the chicken rice bowl and the lomo saltado. Food looked good but wow was it salty. It tasted neither Latin nor Asian. Chicken was shredded chicken and had a very off putting texture and flavor. Couldn't finish it. The Lomo Saltado didn't taste like lomo saltado at all. It was done with country potatoes and just tasted like powdered adobo. Very tomatoey flavor which isn't reminiscent of Peruvian lomo. Super salty as well. Ambiance at the restaurant was cool so I gave it another star. Got my order to go so can't speak on the service. read more

This is an interesting restaurant that seems to a blend of Vietnamese and Mexican food. I like both of those types of food so of course I liked it. You order first at the counter and then find your seat. We managed to get a cozy booth although most seating is in the open restaurant with chairs and tables. I would recommend it. The menu has such a great variety, that it made choosing just one dish for each of us all the more difficult. Bottom line: you will not be disappointed when you eat here. We visited on a Saturday evening and the place was busy, but we were able to find a spot outside on the patio where it's dog-friendly. You order at the counter and they bring your food to you once it's ready. For drinks my partner had a kombucha while I had the yerba buena cocktail, which was a housemade yerba mate with vodka. Refreshing and not a lot of sugary crap in it that is often in cocktails! I recommend. For our meals, my partner ordered the lomo saltado, which was a Peruvian dish with steak, potatoes, roasted veggies and a fried egg over it, which he loved. I had the peanut tomato curry with chicken, which came with a side of rice and was delicious! I loved the chickpeas in the curry and the peanut-based curry was rich and creamy, making the dish all the better. Loved it! Oh my goodness, but you can't go wrong here! The menu featured so many different items, from Asian dishes to Latin American eats, all of which sounded delicious. If I lived in Bend, this would be my jam. DUDE this place is so good. I live in a restaurant wasteland (the gorge- no one tries because they know tourists will come no matter what) so maybe I'm a little deprived but I was literally thrilled with my meal here. I got the steak salad, a cocktail, a piece of cake and it was all amazing. I wanted to come back the next day but my travel mate was chompin' at the bit to get out of town. Ate here the other day and was lucky enough to miss the rush by about ten minutes. The remodeled dining room is significantly larger but still has the same feel. We ordered a ridiculous amount of food. The spicy pork was epic as was the spicy fried chicken. We ended up eating family style which left us with lots of leftovers but that was great. Oh ! I can not begin to say how impressed I was with this place. I have blood sugar issues and am gluten free, it is stressful trying to find a place that can accommodate that. They even let me sub rice for greens (a salad) for free. Everyone in my family was able to find something to eat that they loved. I had so much food that I was able to eat the leftovers for dinner...that's a deal! And their kombucha tastes like a cider! I had to share because I was worried about having too much sugar, but it was delicious and refreshing. I think they said it was Cucumber mint. Sport has some of the most amazing food I have tasted and the service and atmosphere are terrific.

I really liked spork. The food is very tasty and the portions are huge. We got there around 4:30pm and beat a huge dinner rush. While the service and ambiance are fine, I don't love the 'order at the counter' method of dining for a place like this. They will come around with a little portable card reader and you can buy more drinks and food, but wish it was more of a 'traditional' casual dining experience. Overall a very good choice if you're in the mood for Asian fusion. read more

Or at least be cool enough to hang out with them all the time? Friend crush- we have a friend crush on Spork. The stylish dining space ( you want it to be your living room/dining room/bedroom) , And both of the delightful and expensive outdoor dining areas brought us in, but the incredible staff and the outstanding menu of both food and drinks have us talking about driving to Bend on a regular. I regret I cannot remember the incredibly friendly helpful and generous person behind the counter who's pantsuit is still reverberating in my envy chamber. I'm sad to say I can't think of a restaurant in Eugene to compare with. This is on par with the better restaurants I've been to in New York or Chicago- maybe there's a place in Portland we've not found? This is Really interesting, inventive food with a lot of vegetarian options that do not rely on things like jackfruit & almost everything we tried was On Point. ((& the only things we didn't lose our minds over were the little things that are taste specific- that's not our Mexican wedding cookie & I wanted simmering different from the peanuts- they were $2, you try them & see what you think) Super extra kudos to the delicious and unique options for non-alcoholic beverages. I love their Mexican logger and a like a cocktail as much as the next drinker, but not everybody does alcohol and even I don't want to all the time. I had an incredibly delicious lemon grass thing that I wish I knew how to make it home. I don't even think I can describe the food but suffice it to say plates are shareable and a pretty good value for size but basically we went back and kept ordering different things to try out the menu because everything was just so freaking good. Oh- note: DO NOT MISS The specials board behind the counter. We almost did and would not have had the outstanding fish curry that set us back on our heels and made us come back for more.
