I have driven past this coffee place quite a few times since I live SUPER CLOSE. I finally made my way in a couple days ago for an iced dirty chai and my wife got a smoothie. LOVED the chai!!! Wife said that the smoothie was really good as well. Today I walked in and got two iced vanilla cold brews, also REALLY good. Next time I might ask for a little less vanilla added as it was a bit too sweet for me, but that's my fault because I forgot to ask for only a small amount. We have yet to play any games here but I am SURE it will be a regular thing come winter time FOR SURE. The amount of games is amazing. You can pay 5$ a day and that is for the ENTIRE day, the guy just said to make sure to tell him when you leave if you're coming back and you can come and go as you please! Love this place. There are great game options, including plenty of two player games. The coffee is good, pizza looks amazing, and they have a pretty stocked bar, including wine. I wish I would have found out about this place sooner! If you LOVE games, you HAVE to come here. A day pass is $5 and a monthly pass is $15 (and comes with three free guest passes). My husband got the monthly pass and I used a guest pass today. I really can't think of a game that I want to play that isn't at this place. I believe they have 1900+ board games. They have EVERY version of Ticket to Ride. They have every expansion pack known to man kind for Settlers of Catan. They also have suggestions from their staff throughout the store of other games to play. There are several game tables and people here are really friendly. It is worth noting that each day they have a game demo in which you can play the game of the day for an hour(ish) for free (check the time of the demo, though). Finally, you can buy tons of games here (although they are more expensively priced than Amazon or Ebay). In terms of drinks, they have tons of hot and cold coffees to choose from. They also serve beer, which is a nice touch. The food is more limited with pizza and pastries. However, I believe you can bring food in (just not drinks), which is great. In sum, a great place to spend any day in Omaha. I can't recommend it enough. read more

My first time here at Spielbound. I have heard a lot about it and wanted to give it a try while I was in town visiting. Upon entering, we were greeted by the barista/bartender/game enthusiast. She answered our questions and gave us a quick rundown of the dos and don'ts. It is a $5 cover to play games so be ready to open your pocket book quickly. After your cover I'd paid, you have the entire day to enjoy over 200 games ranging from small child games all the way to mensa approved challenging games. The shelves are labeled with type of game so it helps to navigate the ares. They supply pencils, markers, paper, and any other tool you'd need for their games. They have a full coffee bar as well as offer a selection of beers, baked goods, and other foods. When I asked an employee to help our group pick out a game she said "sorry, I don't play many board games." Part of what I loved when I came the last few times Was how knowledgeable and willing the employees were to help you pick and learn board games. Ok we are officially addicted to the point we are thinking about a year member ship now. It has been 3 full days in a row we have spent here. ahhhh! That must mean 5 stars! I mean the world's largest collection of board games are here in Omaha and then they have beers on tap and in bottles and wine, fully loaded coffee bar and loose leaf from tea smith! Andrew, the general manager, seems to always be there is superfriendly and can explain pretty much any game to you and gives the best suggestions for your party to play! Also you can order mike's subs for delivery if u get hungry as well as from any delivery restaurant, but they also have pastries, oatmeal and cup of noodles to snack on as well. As a remote tech worker/coffee shop commando, I tend to jump from coffee shop to coffee shop every day of the week since I find there to be less distractions in them then I have in my home office. I've tried quite a few in the area. Delice, Archetype, Scooters, and Crane. With the exception of Archetype they all have one thing in common: Abysmally slow internet thats either throttled to the point that your VPN cant connect, or they are just too cheap to have fast enough internet for their patrons to be able to get any work done. At the advice of a gentleman I met while working at a co-working space, I decided to give Spielbound a try. On my first day in I was greeted quickly and courteously. I explained I wouln't be playing games as I was looking just for someplace with coffee, drinks, and reliable internet, that was friendly with coffee shop commandos such as myself. I was pleasantly surprised to be told that it was fine, and that they were actively making improvements to the cafe side specifically to make it more welcoming for remote workers to post up for the day to work. On to the important parts The drinks: great selection of beers and sodas, and a pretty good homespun menu of different coffee drinks. The food: while they don't serve food themselves, its right in midtown crossing and if you call any of the restaurants in the crossing, most of the time they'll happily deliver to Spielbound. The games: the game selection is amazing and there truly is a game for anyone there, regardless of gameplay style you prefer. The atmosphere: Whether you are looking for a quiet place to get work done during the day, with fast enough internet to get work done, or a place to hang out with friends and play some board games, or even just have a polite conversation, Spielbound is a wonderful place and I will certainly be going back many times to come. read more

Spielbound is perhaps literally my favorite place in Omaha. It's a board game cafe that puts all other board game cafes to shame. For those of you who don't know, the owner of Speilbound is in the Guinness World Record Book for the largest collection of board/card games. How Speilbound "works": you come in, pay $5 (which goes towards the nonprofit side of Speilbound), and then can play as many board and card games as you want for the rest of the day. The collection is massive and well-organized. There are suggestions of games to play on sheets on the walls but any employee is more than willing to help you find a game you're looking for even if you don't know what it is yet. "I want to play something that's 15 minutes but complex." "Something that's for more than 10 players." "Something that I could spend all day playing one-on-one and not get bored." These are all reasonable questions to ask them, they're truly game experts/enthusiasts. There are party games, advanced strategy games, tabletop RPG reference books, countless euro games, and more categories of games than make sense to list in this review. Oh and top of all this, there is good coffee, tea, and hot chocolate for the mornings and beer and cider for the evenings. You owe it to yourself to come here and check it out. Though our group didn't have much time to spend here, this is a very nice game spot! I've visited a few in the Kansas City area and I like this place best. They had a fun drink menu and we planned to go back later that evening (we had to leave for an appointment) to sample the grown up butter beer but the rain storm changed our mind and kept us away. I really liked the layout of the seating/nook areas which felt slightly more private and quiet compared to other places. Their game library was extensive; we even saw a Korean game on the return cart! Using rare and interesting games, they decorated the cubby spaces high above on the walls. There was so much thought and witty fun details that I definitely needed more time to explore. Hopefully we will return before too long. This place is just beyond belief incredible. They have every game I have ever heard of, some times multiple copies of each. General game accessories like octagonal "dishes" to roll your dice into. Cards to reserve tables while you choose a new game, or use the reverse side of that card to request more players for small parties. The staff are all friendly and will teach you how to play a game if you're trying to learn a new one. A multitude of drinks, much and more than you would find at a Starbucks plus cafe food (muffins etc...). I cannot say enough good things about this place. I wish I could leave a 6* review. For the past few years, a group of us would get together at our home and play board games. Well, the hosting at home may now have officially come to a close. Why rely on your own meager stash of games (even if you have a closet full) when you can gather at Spielbound to revisit old favorites (I heart Settlers AND they have all of the flavors!!) or try something completely new. What I really appreciate is having a staff member on hand to explain the game basics, so wading through the instruction booklet is more to clarify nuances of rules rather than simply jumping in to get started. Love that they have beverage options that include well-priced, nice selection of beverages of the adult and family friendly variety. Since our particular visit was for our group of 8, we also reserved the Red Room and was able to bring in some snacks to keep our energy levels going during our six hours of friendly competition. Clean, friendly, well organized...this boardgame heaven meets cafe is genius and a welcome addition to Omaha. Close enough to the "heart" of Midtown Crossing that parking can be found within close proximity. The minimum spend of $80 for the use of the private room was easily met (and we could have four separate tabs, the value combined to meet the minimum). I also appreciate the "players wanted" signs that you could choose to post at your table if your group of two were interested in expanding to a group of 4 or 6 to really make game play more interesting. Knowing the cost of some of these boardgames and the care and upkeep those of us who own such games take, a slight charge to avail yourself of their abundant game options is well worth it. Apparently I'm not alone in this opinion, as the place was packed on a recent Saturday night - with couples, families and groups of friends engaged in friendly competition. read more

Basically a coffee shop/Bar with every board game in the world to choose from. You do have to pay 5 dollars per person if you aren't members to try the games but with the selection and the cost of most new board games that's a great deal and you can try before you buy. I've always had a good time at Spielbound. We've been here about 5 or 6 times now and, if we lived closer by, I could easily see myself going here regularly or joining a board game league. We always play relatively simple games so as not to bite off more than we can chew in one sitting, but it'd be the perfect place to try a game before buying it. It's just a really well done place. Families and 7 years old sit a few tables down from millennials drinking craft beers, who sit a few tables down from a group of middle aged nerds playing some game that looks like you need to major in to understand, yet all are equally comfortable and having a good time. It's a special place that can pull that off. They always have a good beer selection and the few coffee drinks we've had were great. In particular, the alcoholic peanut butter drink (the name escapes me now) was a standout. I can't think of any reason this place doesn't deserve all 5 Yelp stars. read more

I went on a hiatus from this establishment due to poor customer service on my first visit. It was actually quite sad, being that I love the concept and the large variety of board games, to be treated the way I was. I've been back a couple times now and am thankful that my recent experiences have been much better! After not having visited for some time, I was very intrigued to see that their food and drink menu has vastly expanded. The menu consisted of a good selection of beer and wine, pastries, and coffee. I got myself a blended coffee and donut and thought both were very good! And, service was great and the baristas were attentive and friendly. I have never not been able to find a game and with such a large selection, you can spend hours here. I love this place! It is such a fun alternative to a normal night out. On two different occasions, I have come to play games with friends on a college night where admission fees are waived. Speilbound is an Omaha treasure that you cannot find anywhere else! They are not kidding when they say they have the world's largest boardgame collection, and the staff is excellent. This is a great place for a date night, friend night, or just wanting to try your hand at a new hobby. But they understood our situation and were able to help us. They are opened minded and really try to make sure the client is happy while they drink a coffee or tea and play a game. They ask you to buy a gaming pass on weekends, even if you just want to have a cup of coffee and not play. I get that space is scarce on weekends, but this request want handled well. How have I not written a review for Spielbound yet?!? Moreover, how do I properly convey my love for this place? I have been coming here regularly for about a year now. What keeps me coming back? - Amazing staff. Whether it be game recommendations or teaching you how to play a new game, they've got you covered. - Drink selection. Coffee shop by day, bar by night. I enjoy their ever-changing variety of craft beers/mead on tap. - Location. Right on the outskirts of Midtown Crossing and all the food options that come with that (and I can walk here!) - Game library, DUH. For big groups, they have private party rooms that one can rent. Wednesday nights get a little packed, since it is trivia night. When I go to Spielbound, I usually like to first play a game I am familiar with, and then try a new game. That way, I always have a good time, and I always try something new! I'm leaving Omaha soon, and will miss this place more than most. How sad it is, that I must cancel my membership. :( read more

Absolutely the best option for having a great time with friends. The concept is just perfect, board games, alcohol and coffee. If you are here on a slow day, you can probably get an employee to teach you a new board game or jump in with a group looking for more. You can plan ahead as certain nights will be led by an employee teaching a game. This place gets packed very early on Friday and Saturday night. If you like a game, they have a small selection of new games for sale. They don't have a huge selection of food (muffins, cookies etc) but you can't blame them. They have packed so much into the space they have. They do let restaurants deliver there though. read more

Their chai tea latte is one of the best ones I've ever had!! I came here to do some homework so the study space is pretty nice if you're okay with having a noisy background. I enjoyed watching other people play games while I took break from homework. I ordered some mozzarella sticks and the marinara came in a cute little coffee cup!
