I really wanted to love this spot. Astute Coffee is absolutely beautiful inside -- clean, warm, thoughtfully designed, and somewhere you actually want to linger. The branding and overall vibe feel intentional, and I genuinely appreciate their mission and what they're trying to build in Omaha. That part really stands out. That said, the coffee itself didn't quite hit for me. I ordered a seasonal latte and was excited for something distinctive, but the flavor felt pretty muted. It tasted more like a standard latte than something seasonal or layered. Not bad by any means -- just not memorable. I'd still come back to try something else because the space and concept are strong. I just hope the drinks lean a little more bold next time. read more

Best coffee experience in Nebraska! We loved the coffee, the variety, the pastries, the ambiance, and the story behind the cafe. Founded as a way to provide an inclusive environment and work place for adopted children, this cafe has a larger mission than just serving caffeine. The ambiance is unique yet comfortable. A former bank, the space has a high ceiling with a star shaped design in the center. There are numerous leather chairs and a sofa, as well as small wood tables to work at. The coffee is unique and of high quality. It feels like an expert curated the menu, with light to dark roasts from local roasters available. I have only been to Astute Coffee once but it was a pleasant experience! My best friend lived in the apartment next door, so the location was convenient and we walked over to get a bite to eat. Their selection for coffees was great, and we ended up getting both iced and hot coffee, both of which were delicious! Their food/pastries seemed to be more limited, possibly because we came closer to closing. The location seems small outside but is very aesthetically pleasing and open when inside. The staff was very kind and welcoming, and they even gave us a free donut since they were left over! It was such a nice gesture, and made us feel at home. I love the look of this place. On the outside it looks like a fancy fine dine, but its a great place to grab your coffee and while you can also sit and read or continue working while at the cafe. The Barista is very warm and friendly. Their menu is quite nice with various range of coffee to choose from. I ordered the turtle coffee (on the go), because I dig caramel and nuts in my coffee. The coffee was quite good, I also wanted to grab a baked good, so the barista was kind enough to suggest me an orange cranberry oat muffin and that was amazing! The gluten-free muffin was perfectly sweet, zesty and slightly dense, which goes perfectly with the coffee. So glad I took her suggestion! Fantastic coffee shop just across the street from Central High School. Astute has a full drink menu, but is exceptional due to their extensive pour over offerings. The baristas explained to me that the owner is passionate about curating amazing beans, and is always open to suggestions. Onyx are their standard beans for drip, and their pour over menu currently features roastaries in Berkeley, North Carolina, and Holland! I was with my son who makes some uncomfortable with his over zealous interest, comments & questions. Extra points for inclusiveness in businesses. DEI often leaves out the cognitively challenged. The team at Astute were welcoming and kind. The mission I am all about supporting business with a cause even if it is good but not great. Not a concern here! My pour-over was fantastic, the staff was wonderful at explaining the different available roasts and didn't even mind me changing my mind 3 times. The food is limited to breakfast staples - doughnuts, muffins and power bars. All looked fresh, but I was saving room for dinner :). Upon approaching, I was happy to see signs of support/inclusivity for marginalized groups and noticed their sign inside that they support young adults impacted by the foster system. Astute is always a favorite stop of mine! Living and working nearby, I stop here regularly and always enjoy my drinks here! The coffee is always great, and their lattes are my go-to. Alternative milks and a limited selection of baked goods are available. Omaha has many great coffee shops, but not many other local spots in this area of downtown. I always get my coffee quickly, so it's a great spot if you want to grab a coffee during work! The baristas are always extremely friendly. The interior of the building is very cool, and the furniture is very warm and inviting. This is a great spot to work from home with the quiet and comfortable atmosphere. A few months ago they had a mango smoothie (the mangonada) with chamoy and tajín. If it ever comes back, I can't recommend it enough! If you're looking for the perfect downtown coffee shop or just in the area, this should be your next stop! read more

We were in town for 2 days and I was so excited to learn there was coffee right next to the hotel. The building and decor was just awesome! Love the architecture and the warm feeling! The service- it was beyond friendly. I walked up to the wrong side of the counter and the girl pulling shots quickly acknowledged me. She told me she could start my drink for me. My drink isn't on any menus so sometimes people give me a weird look and question everything. (4 shots, 2 choc, 3 ounce half and half in 20 oz cup over ice) She asked how it works was all and I said it just does, just wait and see. She was friendly and engaging the whole time, served it up with a great smile, and asked me to taste it and make sure it was right. It was perfect!!!! Next morning, before I could get all the way through the door she met me with a great smile and hollered out "same thing"!! I've been there one time!!!!! That was awesome!!!! The girl ringing me up had such a wonderful, friendly personality as well!!!! It was great!!!! I definitely recommend this place!!! Love the cause they are working for! Love the service!!
