I've recently started writing reviews on yelp and I really needed to express my dissatisfaction with Spankys. I've been to Savannah about 5 times and this was my 2nd time eating at Spankys. My first experience was okay but this one was not good. We arrived around 9:15pm. While the hostess walked us to our table, one of the cooks said, "Why are you still seating customers?" The statement from the cook should have signaled us to leave however we did not. Our waiter was good, however the food was NOT good. The chicken fingers tasted as if they were refried. The fries and the potato spuds were NOT fresh. They tasted as if they were sitting under a heat lamp for a few hours. Overall we were not impressed with the food. The one thing that was good was the Angry Orchard beer from the tap. It was extremely fresh. With all of the great food options in Savannah, I was highly disappointed with this choice. read more

Great food and great service. My husband had the fried platter and ate the whole thing. I had the blackened chicken. Both were very good. Great music playing in the background and baseball on the TV. What's not to like! read more

Walked in around 9:30 and the place was packed! The tall blonde lady was doing her best to keep up and stay in positive spirits. I really wanted to try the fried shrimp after hearing about how good it was from 2 ppl. But after waiting 10-15min to even be seen, we thought it best to just get a drink to go. Made the mistake of going in hungry. Ordered an appetizer sampler plate, after waiting too long for a waiter to come to our table. Then waited even longer for a plate full of fried foods. The best was the chicken fingers which they are known for. The breading was good, and some of the sauce options were tasty - but they had already gotten cold before they got to the table. We waited too long for our check, and left a bit disappointed. I would not recommend. read more

This is objectively some of the best, down to earth, fried chicken and spuds you can get. I eat a TON of great fried chicken, and this place has the top seed. The bar/staff/atmosphere are dope as well. I never leave Savannah without a stop at Spanky's. read more

Fun restaurant in downtown Historic Savanna. I ordered the fried shrimp platter with spuds and it was a ton of food. My wife ordered the chicken fingers and spuds. Both dishes tasted good if you are in the mood for some deep fried food. read more

service was nice. nice atmosphere. the spankys spuds were really good. the philly cheesesteak was the worst thing ive ever attempted to eat. two bites of it and i couldn't even imagine giving it to my dog. it was extremely dry and had basically nothing on it. the bread made the dry meat and lack of cheese even worse. my girlfriends food looked good and she enjoyed it. i just ordered the wrong thing i suppose. seriously, stay away from the cheese steak. i wasted my money on that big time. read more

Their buffalo chicken fingers & spuds with ranch, oh my goodness. You have to get the ranch! I could've ate a whole plate of the spuds. The hubs had their burger and he really enjoyed it. We ate their for dinner when we got to Savannah around 8 pm and walked right in. They're quick and food is great! read more

Dining experience is less than substandard. The restaurant lacks imagination and soul. Do not recommend eating at this establishment. However our server was accommodating and prompt. She was the only shining star of this dining experience. read more

While walking around Savannah on a beautiful Sunday afternoon we decided to stop in and try Spanky's. I had never heard of this place. We ordered the Chicken Tenders and the Spanky's spuds. What a treat? The food was really good. The fried spuds or what we grew up calling Fried Taters were awesome. Service was perfect and everyone was very friendly. Those tenders were some of the best i have ever had. If you are in Savannah stop in and eat at Spanky's. read more

This place is great! The chicken tenders were amazing and the spuds are bomb!!!! If you don't like bar food or fried food then this is not the place for you. My boyfriend got the olive bacon burger and he loved it as well. The staff were super welcoming and super fast to get our food and drinks out. I highly recommend this place if you're in the area. read more

Give it a 1 star only for the service. The pizza sucks...Ordered a well done vegetarian and it came out un-cooked, soggy dough smelling like broccoli!!!!. If you are a gourmet soggy pizza lover you might like it but if you like old school pizza pizza pizza you will hate it, myself and co-workers all agree....dine elsewhere if you want a good pizza. Note; I ordered vegetarian, it had no mushroom, no olive, no bell pepper. it did have zucchini, broccoli, corn, avocado, onions, tomato and some sort of vegetarian soggy crust. read more

This place is very casual but pretty good. Our server was very friendly. The food was good. The menu doesn't have a lot of options outside of fried foods. BUT with that being said...the chicken tenders and the spuds were soooo good. And it should be good because that's what they are known for. Other than that, it's a good spot if you want a very laid back lunch. read more

My family and I recently came to Spanky's for lunchtime at around 2:30. We were super famished due to our flight being delayed by 4 hours from JFK airport. It was absolutely the best restaurant experience we've ever had. However this wouldn't have been possible without our lovely, warm-hearted, and extremely polite waitress, Cheryl. She was absolutely amazing, her kindness was genuine and everything about her made us feel welcomed. We didn't have to wait long for our food either [very tasty] :)!! We stopped here for a late lunch on a Saturday afternoon. We were seated right away but we sat quite awhile before anyone acknowledged we were even there. We were actually about to leave when someone came to our table: we placed a drink order... my husband had s margarita which was good. I decided to try the peach sangria because it's a huge item in this area. There's was more like pineapple juice... it had pineapple pieces and strawberry pieces in it. It was good but did not taste like peaches at all. So we placed an order for food. My daughter had kids chicken fingers. The kids meal was very large and she asked for buffalo style, it was very spicy. She ate most of it though. My husband had a spicy chicken finger sandwich of some sort. It was also delicious. I ordered the shrimp po boy... it was large fried shrimp but on a sandwich and the tails were attached, not cool. We also each had a side salad. The horseradish dressing did not taste a thing like horseradish. The salad was a decent size as well. Once the server took our order she again disappeared. Overall I would give service a 1, food a 3 and prices are actually decent for the area. read more

My mom and I visited on a Thursday evening. We were told that Spankys serves the best chicken fingers and who doesn't love a good chicken finger?? We were greeted by a very unenthusiastic hostess who led us to our table with an energy that almost put me to sleep. Our server was friendly enough but very inattentive and distracted. The restaurant was not busy and our food came out quickly. We tried the chicken fingers in the sampler platter along with cheese sticks, fried pickles and spuds. I would like to say they were great chicken fingers but they weren't. All of the fried food lacked flavor and crispness. We both ordered a burger which was very clearly a frozen patty with grill marks on it. It had so much cheese that it was sliding off the burger and onto the rest of the plate. It tasted all right but was hard to finish. The worst part for me was waiting about 15 minutes after we were done for our server to come give us our bill. Then after we paid and headed out multiple wait staff were hanging around the stairs between dining rooms. Again, with an energy that could have put me to sleep. Too bad, we were hoping for excellent chicken fingers and a good time. read more

The only reason people eat here is the location. The food was not fresh or special. It wasn't busy and we waited for over 10 minutes for someone just to set us at a table. The cost was too high for burger and fries! The wait staff was awful and wanted to stand around and talk to each other more than worry about customers. read more

My friends and I took a quick trip to Savannah for my birthday. One night while we were there, we decided to go to Spanky's for dinner. I had never been before but they had both been on more than one occasion and spoke very highly of their experiences. From the moment we walked in, we felt completely unwelcome. As we stood at what was apparently not the "front door", we were addressed by the bartender, Five, that if we wanted a table to go to the other side. Alright, sir, how about we sit at the bar, and thank you for that warm welcome. We took the last three seats at the bar, and barely received a glance. After ordering drinks and feeling like we were totally unwanted at this man's bar (I suppose he didn't want to make money), we found a hostess and decided to move to a table. Low and behold, the server was equally as unenthused to have us. Let me just say, the three of us work in the service industry. We want no trouble, we are going to take care of you, and we like to have a good time. That being said, we ordered fried pickles, which didn't even have time to get rang in let alone come to the table, yet somehow they were set down in front of us within 90 seconds. Is there just a bin of fried pickles waiting on the line in the back? By this point, we had all gotten pretty heated by the literal disgust we felt from the staff. I got up and asked to speak with a manager, explaining our experience up to this point. She apologizes, saying both Five and the server (whose name I didn't care to catch), had been there all day and were tired. As I said before, we all work in the industry. I get being tired and working a long day. Still doesn't justify how we were treated. The manager assigns us a new server, who was very pleasant. By this time, we had another friend join us who tried to order drinks from the bar. Five treated him just as irrelevantly, and started huffing and puffing/cussing behind the bar. Manager was no where to be found to handle anything. We ordered food and ended up cancelling because of the treatment we received. Needless to say, I will not return. Employee attitudes need to be handled and management needs to hold them accountable instead of making excuses for the terrible way they are treating the guests. read more

Spankys has been a staple among the chicken fingers and spuds tradition and our guests were enthusiastically looking forward to this treat tonight on Riverstreet. Unfortunately the food was lukewarm with a 1/2 filled capacity crowd and the pizza arrived long after the meal was over. Our experience at Spankys has been wonderful in the past but the wait staff was less than enthusiastic as were we as we left wondering " has the magic left this restaurant?" read more

I'm just going to cut to the chase spankys is not worth any body's time albeit food is fine but the service was beyond mediocre as it took 40 minutes to receive our food we demanded to speak to the store manager who did very little to compensate us and tried to justify our long wait even though families being seated before us were already done and paid for the check the manager finally decided to give us complimentary drinks even for the rest of our meal and they failed bring drinks back for us even after our long wait with that being said spankys isn't worth anyone's time read more

Was the absolute worst experience I have ever had. Sat in the bar, one of the two bartenders actually was bragging about not putting alcohol in drinks when customers upset her. Then said when they complain she says "sorry my hands are tied". They were complaining about how bad their tips had been to the 2 gentlemen sitting at the bar. We both had empty glasses several minutes before they noticed and were finished with our meal. Neither came to see if we needed anything once. As a former server the experience was beyond unacceptable. I have ALWAYS been an extremely good tipper and this was the first and only time I have not left a tip.
