I ordered the Pollo Napolean from the specials menu. It is eggplant & chicken parm, layered together in a homemade plum tomato sauce. The chicken was the most tender I have ever had. Once again, another great food experience at Spain. The meals here are very good and very consistent! On this night, however, the service, which is generally incredibly attentive and on point, was somewhat off and sluggish; not what we have come to expect from Spain. We did see our excellent server Eric (from our last visit about a year ago), but he and his colleague seemed distracted by other parties or something else. The pacing of the meal was a bit off and we had to wait quite a long while, and actually flag down another waiter, in order to pay our check. (We'll chalk this up to a bad night.) Overall, we enjoy have enjoyed our visits to Spain and expect to return. read more

Growing up in Cranston, this was considered a fancy restaurant. It's on the expensive side and I usually go there for special occasions; mainly for my birthdays. The food and service was always wonderful. The menu is large with lots of Spanish inspired entrees. I usually get the shrimp and saffron paella for $17.50. I love paella so that's always my first pick. The paella was delicious and had the perfect amounts of shrimp and rice; also it's not too salty! I also paired it with a red sangria. Everybody in my party enjoyed their meals and service. The service was fast and friendly; our drinks were filled and the food came out quick. I really enjoy going to this establishment and highly recommend it, if not for a special occasion, just a regular night out for a delicious dinner. Also, parking lot is big; I suggest calling to make reservations. read more

Spain has an incredible reputation and they always work hard to uphold the best customer service. Since they reopened during the Covid-19 pandemic their new outdoor patio is beautiful. The service and quality of the food remains excellent. I would like to point out and compliment the chef on the red pear desert, it is beautifully arranged on the plate with the vanilla ice cream and the fried plantain garnish. It was delicious, not too sweet and very satisfying as a light desert after eating a meal. Thank you to the staff for all their continuous hard work and pleasant attitude. read more

Made reservations a few hours in advance for two and got outdoor seating on a perfect evening. Appetizer:The Short Rib Empanadillas we're so good. They were crunchy and very tasty. Entrees:The chicken Spain was something I've never tried before and I love it. Very large portion. My wife's salmon with seafood stuffing was excellent. Lots of scallops in the stuffing. Dessert: Their version of tiramisu had no flavor but no big deal everything else was great. Even our cappuccino and espresso martini were good. The only thing I did not like was ...you felt like you were being rushed out. The bill was left on the table without asking us if we wanted anything else. I have been dinning at Spain aince it opened its doors. Over the years the food maintained the same consistency, but over the last 2 years they have increased the price of their menu items to an outrageous level! In November a desert was $11 , today 2 weeks later is $14.50..The same applies to every dish. They claim price increase is needed to offset foot price increases by suppliers, but they still expect you to tip their employees the same. My taxes went up, my grocery bill went up and i don't have a choice but to pay. read more

I visited Spain in December of 2023. Both my daughter and I have tree nut allergies that we are very careful about. I ordered a lemon/chicken dish and she ordered pasta Bolognese. Both dishes should have been nut free according to the menu. However, 1/2 into our meal my daughter started getting very sick. She had facial swelling, hives and couldn't stop throwing up. It was obvious she was having an allergic reaction to nuts. The manager admitted the cooks were using the same spoon in the bolognese sauce as in the vegan cashew sauce which likely caused the reaction. The manager was actually extremely rude and told me if we are that allergic to nuts we shouldn't go out to eat! I have never had an experience like that in my life. My daughter is ok now after being very sick for two days. But my suggestion is if you have any food allergies- DO NOT EAT HERE. read more

All in all a good decent experience, with some critiques. The Provimi Veal was pretty good accented with a skillful sauce, I enjoyed it in spite of the veal being a little wet and/or tenderized? The white chowder was excellent! The Beet salad was underwhelming and too simple for the price paid, and I have had much better in Boston. The Shrimp Empanadillas I thought were horrible! Shrimp should be front and center, but you barely saw any nor did you taste any? Just a brownish non de script glob inside that didn't taste like anything. A real disappointment. They should visit Gustazo Cuban Restaurant in the Boston area for better inspiration, as Spain's was pretty pedestrian. We have been to the Countries of Spain, Portugal and Italy many times and are visiting the Azores, Portugal this coming April. I felt Restaurant Spain missed the mark with Spanish food, there were many elements missing, not to mention tapas. It could pass as an Italian restaurant with other typical fare offered by many other restaurants today. On the evening specials menu, printed separately and a full page, there seemed to be only one Spanish dish?, a Garlic creamy soup.....they can do a lot better than this? And instead of high priced USA steaks how about some typical Spanish steaks/meat with a Spanish theme and accompamiments? read more

Had a lovely dinner at Spain in Cranston this week. The food was delicious. The portions were Huge! (Not necessarily a good thing). The staff was friendly. The dessert tray of house made goodies was a delight (so hard to choose just one!). But the front of the house staff could use a bit of training: our cocktails and appetizers were delivered by reaching over other guests and the cocktails ended up on the left side of the diners. 5 minutes of training: serve from the right; don't reach over people. P.S. if you order the veal chop, be prepared to wait- it takes a long! Time to cook. read more

We just finished an amazing meal. The food portions were plenty, hot and so delicious!! Our head waiter Justin and Assistant Andre were very attentive and Andre made the perfect suggestions when we were torn between two choices. Justin went the extra mile to get my husband the Scallop special when there was a mix-up with the menus. We finished our meal with the coconut cheesecake. After hearing many favourable reviews, I decided to try it out with a couple of friends. We were seated in a room which had a table of ten nearby. To say they were rowdy is an understatement-F bombs galore, offensive sexual references that left nothing to the imagination, loud enough to be heard at the McDonald's next door, and yet the drinks continued to flow and no attempt was made to control. I've been at sports events with better behaved patrons. And this was supposed to be an upscale dining establishment. Not so. I'm all for a good time, but whatever happened to respect for your neighbours. If you want to get shitfaced with friends, do it on your own turf. And shame on the owners for encouraging it without apology. read more

Great food and outstanding service. We decided to try Spain for my wife's birthday and got a very late reservation - 8:30 for dinner. For an appetizer we had short rib empanadas and for entrees, the seafood pasta, pork tenderloin, and chicken fingers and fries for my son. Dessert was bread pudding and tres leches - both of which were delicious. All of the food was excellent, and by itself, well worth the 5 star review. The service, though, completely exceeded our expectations. Our 2 waiters really went out of their way to ensure that we all (my 3 year old son included) had a wonderful experience. A beautiful restaurant inside and out. The hostess was really sweet. Our food (burrata salad, the sea bass special, the lemon chicken) were all delicious. The bread that was brought in the beginning was one of our favorites, so fresh and enjoyable to eat. The mud mud and the tres leche desserts were a great way to finish off the dinner. All the staff, from the hostess to waiters to busboys/gals were very attentive, friendly and made the entire dining-in a very pleasant and memorable experience. Can't wait to return. read more

First time there. Ordered the pork loin meal, my husband had the cod special. My daughter and her BF had the paella for 2. We also had 3 apps to have a taste of many different suggested apps. Every thing er ate was delicious. I was so impressed. The waiter was excellent. The hostess staff Was welcoming and friendly. Here is why I will never go back to Spain again: Years ago: Made a reservation for six people for 8 PM. Arrived on time and still waited for a table for 1 1/2 hours. As we were being seated I asked the hostess why we had to wait so long when we had a reservation. (And yes, I had a bit of attitude). She seated us, then returned to the table, squared in front of me and, face inches from mine reprimanded me angrily and walked away. Next day I called management and told them. They said ; " She has been working here for a long time and we have never had any problems ". No apologies, no reprimand toward the employee. I was surprised to find that most of the food on the Spain menu is Italian instead of Spanish (chicken marsala etc). Aside from that I highly recommend Spain Restaurant. The service is always excellent, the atmosphere is a little cool feeling, but well designed including the wood accents, stucco, fountain, etc. They only open the upstairs seating on certain days, which I found to be a little more cozy and intimate than the downstairs area, but both are nice. They have some really exotic cocktails and I have to say the pina colada I had there was probably the best, and the strongest! The food was excellent, well prepared. I had the Chicken Marsala, soup and there was rice served with my entree. When I came here last it was for a family birthday. They will serenade you with a birthday song sung in Spanish, complete with maracas, and guitar. They had quite an extensive dessert selection too. I highly recommend Spain, everything was very good. A great experience all around and although they area little more expensive than some places, its worth it. read more

The prime ny strip was horrible nothing but fat and gristle. They took it off the bill and were sorry .the chef that cooked it couldn't see it was a inferior cut.. not happy with the experience..i think this restaurant is slowly losing it's charm. It wasn't busy like it normally is. Im afraid to go back and order the same thing again daves market has better quality of steak than spain. True. I don't believe they served me prime steak. Spain is the first "nice" restaurant the hubby took me to. It was my 21st birthday and we had just started dating. Thinking back to that time (12 years ago), I can't help but to think of how impressed I was with the service and the food. I remember I had the pork chop. Impressive memory. Anyway. Spain was for a while a place we went to for special occasions and it made us feel so grown up! As we started to explore the cuisine world, we forgot about Spain and hadn't been back until 2 years ago and more recently today. Today, we went with a group of 20. Spain, as always, was very accommodating and opened the restaurant for us at 3pm. 7 pitchers of Sangria later and possibly half of the menu, everyone left fully satisfied. We were disappointed with our recent experience last Saturday night. We are giving this 2 stars because the food always excels, but because of the service we received. We sat at the bar which was completely fine, but our server Mario seemed to have an attitude with us for some unknown reason. He was a little cold, rushed us, had a slightly rude way and seemed to be like this to some other folks. It didn't seem too busy so if we needed something, he honestly wasn't around. Going to the bathroom and as we left we saw him talking to some hostesses most of the time so it didn't seem like typical Spain service. When we return we hope this isn't the case for all the waitstaff, as it is one of the states best. read more

We've been coming here for years and never cannot stop talking about how much we want to go back every time! We always get the sizzling shrimp with the olive oil and garlic appetizer (a must have), I got the chicken and skewered shrimp and my wife got the paella for one, ended with 2 espressos and the pumpkin cheesecake creme brûlée which nowhere else could copy if they even attempted to. Everything is so fresh it reminds us of the meals on family vacations to Europe! Also a special thank you to our head waiter Stephan who made our night even more enjoyable! Out of all the famous restaurants we've been to in NYC, Miami, Paris, etc., he provided the best bottle service and menu knowledge we've ever had, truly a delightful experience we reccomend to fellow diners! The food here both times I've gone to this restaurant has been really good. I went once for a work conference and once for a birthday. The staff was friendly and attentive which was nice. The hype surrounding Spain Restaurant is 100% on point and every dish is worth every penny. From the bread to appetizers to the amazing chicken and scallop main dishes. As for the Duck, very well cooked and it just melted in your mouth. The Chocolate Molten Lava Cake at the end rounded things off nicely. In addition, the service was pleasantly attentive and down-to-earth. This deserves 5 stars because its usually hard to please a family of 7, but this place was just wonderful! Service - GREAT Decor - AWESOME Food - AMAZING The bread they serve while your waiting for your meal is really good, I heard they have fabulous raisin bread but they ran out the day we went.. but that's okay because the other bread was good too. We ordered about 2 different appetizers which were both great. And unfortunately this place does not have a kids menu but they have pasta which is perfect for kids in my book. There were a lot of people and it is very hard to remember what everyone got, but all I can say is we were all very pleased with our plates. Your plates are full and depending on what you get your most likely going to take food home. You have one server providing you drinks while the other is taking your order and bringing out your food, so one of the servers are always around in case you need them and all very friendly. I came here for a birthday dinner and wow. i absolutely loved the place. the restaurant is very nice inside and clean. everything is kept very neat nothing out of place. the place feels big when you walk in but i was actually surprised to see it wasn't as big as it felt. you are brought a basket of different breads, i actually didn't notice till i was done but they were all good haha. started with chorizo which was cooked perfectly and was delicious. We got the Arroz Con Pollo and i got a special dish that night which was seafood stuffed chicken breast of angel hair with some crazy sauce. Let me tell you that both those dishes were so freaken flavorful !! I'm rarely ever like never really blow away by food. Ive had a lot of good food in my life and these dishes really made me want to let the table next to me know whats up about these dishes. The chicken breast was so moist and cooked perfect not dry at all, the seafood was amazing nice pieces of shrimp scallops and crab meat i think? I wish i knew what the sauce was it really made the dish memorable. The Arroz Con Pollo was HUGEEEE that dish is definitely not a one person meal. Filled with chicken and chorizo very good as well. both dishes were great to the last bite. Wow. was I impressed by Spain tonight. I had been to their original restaurant in Narragansett several times but this was only my second visit to the one in Cranston. I was with my mom who called ahead. She said they don't accept reservations for parties of less than six but you can call and be put on the wait list. We arrived five minutes after when we said we would arrive but they still had us on the list. The friendly greeter informed us that it would be about a 20 minute wait so I took mom to the lounge for her Cosmo. The bar staff was friendly and very quickly her well made Cosmo was in front of her. Often when they tell you at a restaurant that it is a 20 minute wait, you hit the 45 minute mark and say what the....but not tonight. We waited less than 10 minutes and were seated along the wall in one of their several dining areas. Fernando, the waiter's assistant, greeted us and had menus, water and bread that came with a very flavorful garlic butter in front of us almost instantaneously. I, unfortunately, am sticking to my low card diet so I could only have a pinch of the bread but it was enough for me to tell it was exceptional. We began with a very generous Spain salad which is made with " organic mixed greens, baby spinach, roasted walnuts, dried figs, and Gorgonzola cheese with an extra virgin olive oil and fresh basil aged balsamic vinaigrette" (8.50). Our only disappointment was that it was a bit short on the figs. For our main courses my mom had the Basque style fillet of sole which was served with clams, mussels and shrimp in a white wine, garlic and parsley sauce (21.95). It comes with their homemade potato chips that are simply amazing (and not on my diet :-( I opted for the seared tuna special which at $27.95 was a bit expensive, but the portion was big and the tuna was literally the best I have ever tasted! It came with a salad and a wild blueberry vinaigrette that was delicious. It also came with a very interesting potato puff or something like that. Again thanks to my stupid diet, I could not try it and instead had mixed vegetables that were cooked to perfection. While a lot of restaurants serve good food and nice decor, not many achieve the level of service of Spain. Our server, Joann, was a role model for how to be an exceptional server. He was knowledgeable, personable and able to give each table great service without compromising his time with his other tables. Finally the dessert tray had a great assortment of all the foods I am giving up until I reach my goal (or come to my senses)! Spain is apparently quite popular for birthday celebrations as we felt left out to be one of the only tables where the servers did not come sing "Happy Birthday" in Spanish! Of course that was because neither of us have our birthday this month! My one request is that the servers tell customers the prices of each of the specials. I still would have had the tuna but it would have been nice not to have been put in the awkward postion of having to decide whether or not to ask the price beforehand. read more
