Two stars for Fender Benderz tonight...and here's why: 1) we had to ask to place a drink order, 2) 2 of 4 apps plates were dirty and had to go back, 3) clock in our head said it was taking too long for wing app to be delivered, 4) dinner was delivered in parts- 3 of us were served while the last in our group waited another 5 minutes for her meal, 5) no silverware- the waitress told us they didn't have any, then delivered 2 forks...a third eventually was delivered , 6) asked for zip code to ring out my debit card, 7) the "our burgers are served medium" thing, don't believe them, it was well done, 8) charged a 3% living wage onto the bill...just put it in the prices. So if you go, beware! The struggle to find help is real and as the waitress said to us when we asked a question about the experience, "it's not my fault". Great burgers and the fries were excellent. The basket of fries could probably feed 3-4 people. Burgers were not greasy and it was tasty. Unfortunately we are mourning the loss of the restaurant that used to be SouthSide Benderz. We normally come in the summer after rafting the Upper Colorado, decided to stop on our way home from GJ this time. I feel like this is going to start being the trend, especially with the minimum wage for service industry being raised, inflation on food costs, understaffing, etc. Shout out to our server, Benito, who was definitely an MVP! hustling SO hard while we were there! He was doing the very best he could! So- 5 stars for Benito But the food has absolutely taken a downward turn for the very worst. very ghetto townie vibes, not in a cool divey way. trust me i've been to plenty blue collar dive bars around the country and this was just like a weird white boho ski bum thing going on here and theres a strange smell here, not a bar smell like a gross one that i cant put my finger on. i though it was going to be a decent dive bar with food considering the hotel nearby i was staying at. i asked the host to move my table nearest the tv with the game. i could barely understand the waiter with his accent. i was surprised they had cocktails so i ordered a clever clemintine and i overheard the bartender say"i dont even know how to make that. The cheese fries were incredible and all three members of my party who got the chicken sandwich said it was the best they have ever had. A server knocked a beer onto me, my coat, my burger, my fries, the beer was not ours but one set on a half wall by a patron at the bar. That server was obviously distressed already. The bartender always unfriendly and rude. She is now pregnant but no excuse for having no customer service skills. She seems like a very efficient bartender. We tried this place, because of the four star reviews and was not expecting more. I should've read further into previous reviews. I hate to even give it one star. It was obvious that they were understaffed and that we can tolerate . However the food was not edible. The hamburger was dry I only ate the patty because I was starving! Do not order the Philly cheesesteak -it was not edible, the Cajun waffle fries were heavily coated with Cajun seasoning; we couldn't even shake off or eat more than a few. Our chicken sandwich had to be sent back because it was burnt. Most of the food was not eaten and our server did not notice or care to ask us why we didn't eat our food. We were very hungry after spending several hours at Park Hyatt spa at beaver Creek, and this was one of the first places we came to with food as we came down the mountain. Southside Benderz is one of my regular stops in Avon. The food and drink are always very good and reasonably priced. The service on the other hand, not so much this time. I went there on January 11, 2024 at 4:45pm to enjoy a happy hour burger and a beer. The place was about 1/2 full, not nearly at capacity. I sat for 20 minutes before my server showed up. He then told me that happy hour ended 5 minutes ago at 5:00. I asked for the manager who did make it right, but I didn't go there for this kind of hassle. read more

Saw Benders and their GOAT happy hour sign and figured we'd give it a shot. Cheeseburger, beer, 2 fried fish tacos and 1 carnitas crispy taco. Cost us like $18.
