Whenever visiting Avon/Beaver Creek I love stopping here! Unfortunately my most recent visit left a BAD TASTE in my mouth. We arrived right at 9pm (closing time, unbeknownst to us). The sign still said open and as we walked in they were taking orders from two people ahead of us. As we walked up and they finished take the order ahead of us they said the kitchen was closed and they wouldn't take any orders. I understand they want to go home but the sign still showed open, they just took an order from the people ahead of us and the grill was clearly still on and in fact cooking burgers. This is a major FAIL in CUSTOMER SERVICE. I return here year round and with type of service the slow season may have just gotten a bit slower. I hope this isn't going to be the new norm at Benderz. read more

Stopped here for lunch on a road trip. Best decision ever! My husband ordered a bacon blue cheese burger with Cajun waffle fries. I ordered a carnitas taco salad. Both were delicious! He stuck with local beer on tap while I had a Bloody Mary (best one I've had in a long time). We sat at the bar and received great service from the bartender. Bonus, they make homemade donuts which we got to go. Whether you're in town to ski or just looking for a great stop along I-70, I highly recommend Southside Benderz! read more

This is one of the best hamburgers that I have had in the Vail Valley. After a loooong hike in Vail, we made the drive over to Avon to try out a new restaurant, and I'm so glad we did! After 5:00 pm, you can get a burger for $4.00, and any draft beer for $3.00. This is a great little burger place in Avon. I stop here anytime I'm making a run from Denver to Grand Junction and need some food. For the most part the burgers are pretty standard, but they do all have 1000 Island on them, which is different but good. I'm a fan of their Cajun waffle fries as well as their shakes. They hand make them and they actually taste really good, unlike the soft serve shakes you get at most diners. Just keep in mind it isn't cheap, a cheeseburger is about $8. But you're in Avon after all, so you have to suck up the resort prices. It's a good place to stop if you need a bite mid-roadtrip. read more

Let me just say, Charlie, our server handled our party of 20 like a boss. She had us seated drinking and eating so fast that we were greatly impressed. The onion rings and fried egg mushroom burger I ordered were excellent and their $3 house wine hit the spot perfectly with my meal. Simple, but great burger place! Small menu (mainly burgers, chicken sandwiches, and ahi tuna sandwich - yum!) and a variety of different fries, but fresh, really good food! Small, kind of quirky place, connected to a larger, more upscale restaurant. Very reasonable prices for the area. Burger, fries and drink for only $6-7 (kids) and $9 (adults). We got into town late on a Thursday and looked around a little but saw only cafes and local dives. And then we found Benderz. I was pretty hungry so it really wouldn't have taken much to make me happy, but this exceeded my burger expectations. Cooked nicely, cool toppings--yeah cost extra but it was worth it. They had fried green beans which weren't crispy but were more like sautéed beans you could eat as finger food. I liked them a lot and felt as though I was at least getting a real veggie in with my killer burger. Good selections of beer and booze (especially tequilas and whiskeys). Great open atmosphere and friendly staff made a really nice end to a long day. read more

I have dined here several times and had a good experience but when I was there with friends in July, it was terrible. The restaurant was not busy and it was early afternoon. We waited 20 minutes for service after we were seated, the drink order was finally taken but arrived another good 20 minutes later and it was not the order we placed. Then, to make matters worse, another server comes over and offers to replace the rose wine I ordered (it was no longer available, I guess) with another choice. He didn't tell me it was $20 a glass rather than the $12 house wine, which I think is also way over-priced. Food finally arrived. Once we were finished with our food, it took another 30 minutes to find our waitress and get our bill. She did not give us an itemized bill and left my credit card at the register. We finally received the itemized bill, which is where we saw the cost of the wine. Unanimous decision that we will not go back to Southside Benderz. There are other options available that are much better. read more

Although this place normally serves amazing food tonight (3.19) they udderly dropped the ball. We got seated and they brought us a pitcher of water but took them 10 minutes to bring us glasses. Then another 20 to come take our order to the point where we wanted to order Drinks, appetizers, and entrees together. When we placed out order we asked if our basket of fries could come out first and they said they didn't know if it could happen. I proceeded to watch the basket of fries sit in the window for 5 minutes and then we received the fries which where cold. When asked to return them they where rude and short with us and brought back the same basket of fries only they where as crunchy as potato chips. The next thing is we where out of napkins and the lady comes back with a pretty big stack and slams the stack aggressively on the table. The same lady was carrying a tray of food and demanded a customer that was seated to move out of the way. When they fixed the fries for the last time they said they would take it off the check and when my family and I got our bill they did not remove the fries from out check. No one on their staff was polite to us and their costumer service was below par. My mother also found a strand of there hair in the food. In my opinion from all of the times I have eaten at Southside Benderz their service was below par and have always messed up our order. They where rude until their manager talked to staff. read more

I called in an order during the COVID slow season. Thought I'd help out the Benderz crew during these hard times. Every restaurant I've been to recently has been friendly, profesional, adaptive and supportive of the community during this difficult time, sadly Benderz is not. Over the phone I asked what the curbside policy was, I was told to wait in my car. However, once I called after I pulled up I was told to 'just go inside'. I passed a gentleman at the door who gave no greeting or instruction for pick up. I waited at what seemed to be the 'pick up table'. I saw a few individuals who just stared back at me and it wasn't until I approached the bar area that I was questioned about what I was doing at the restaurant... strangely enough I was there to pick up my food? Long story short, I picked up my food at another counter was redirected to back the bar to get my drink. I was interrogated about my choice of drink and if it was actually for me (after I had already been ID'd. Essentially in order to get service at Benderz you have approach the employees and ask what you need and they make you feel like an idiot in the process. Hard times during this COVID epidemic, friendliness goes a long way. Burger was cold, okay at best. Happy to have food in my belly, sad it had to be a negative experience :/. read more

The food may be good but we for sure will NOT be back! Locals of the valley and very disappointed. Our first experience we ordered the food to go on our way to Denver & after opening my pesto chicken sandwich on the road, I bit into it realizing that the chicken was raw & it couldn't be eaten. I called & kindly they offered me a discount off of my next visit. Today I returned & ordered several meals, at the end I politely asked about the discount from the previous mistake when the manager seemed very annoyed & decided to give it to me. Then he was very rude to both my husband & my son as he made the meals in aggravation. The meals were left on the counter & when we got everything over to our table we soon realized that 3 out of the 6 meals were wrong!!!! They 'conveniently' messed up my & my husbands meals, by not adding 4 toppings that we paid for & also by giving us the wrong kind of fries. When we brought it to their attention he was really annoyed with us, like it was our fault!!!! We won't be back!!! Terrible customer service & they can't get a simple order correct!!! read more

For overnighters and I-70 passer-throughers; look elsewhere. Here's the thing, restaurants like this only exist because they live in a bubble. No competition and a clientele that mostly changes day to day due the the tourist industry. They serve average food at a premium price with subpar service. We've been here a few times because it's convenient to where we stay, but you talk it up to yourself every time you plan to eat here to come to terms that you are forced to settle for a mediocre dinner due to lack of options in the immediate area. Tonight kind of broke the camels back. Packed restaurant on a Saturday night. Not a big shocker. The surprise is that they decided to run the restaurant with one server, one runner, and a guy in a TCU tee-shirt that I'm assuming granted himself the honorary title of front of house manager but was more concerned with the score of the hockey game. The food came out slow, incorrect, and overcooked. The back of house manager (said he was the chef (it's a burger joint......)) came out to apologize and said he would comp some of the food but that never happened. I don't fault the server because she had at least 40 people seated with little to no real help from TCU guy. I understand it's shoulder season in the mountains but if you own a restaurant, plan better and let folk go early if it's not busy. Don't schedule one person to serve a whole restaurant and expect to win customers over. We won't be back and you can spend your money better elsewhere. Again, if they had any competition beside Burger King across the way, they would be out of business. read more
