We found this place on our last visit to St. Auggie and loved it. We couldn't stop talking about the food, the service and the memorabilia. So, of course when we came back we had to go there on our first night. Once again, the food was great. The service was excellent. The recommendations were great. I asked for a hot turkey sandwich and cold toppings and that is exactly what I got. Would I come here again? Of course. Do I recommend it? Yes, of course. What did I eat? The sandwiches are big enough for people with a small appetite to share. My preferred cheesesteak is just meat and provolone - with only three ingredients each one has got to be just right, They offer them with any of the typical toppings. The place has a few TVs and is loaded with Philly sports memorabilia from the Flyers, Eagles, and Phillies. Location is right by the bridge next to A1A Brewery. Iam very disappointed with south of philly, I have been coming here for years giving them my business and today I had an epileptic seizure and walked off without knowing and left my honest bottle drink closed, half a meatball sub and a bag of chips with only a couple removed, when I came back I asked where my food was the girl claimed it was on the floor, but the floor wasn't wet If the other 1/2 of a sub would have touched and hit the floor the floor would've wet and a caution sign would've been out there, but there was no sign, so I knew it was not true ; plus the glass would have been everywhere if the glass would have fallen too from my honest drink. She went to the back and spoke to someone a man, but he refused to make the 1/2 of that meatball sub that wasn't eaten and wouldn't replace the drink they just threw away. Iam a local and I'm very disappointed that you don't care for your locals with disabilities who are truthful to you. So I paid $15.81 for 1/2 meatball sub handful chips and a sip of my honest tea, very sad and disappointed, if I owned a business I would never do that to someone who always gives me there's business locally. Not Giving someone a half of a sub they paid for and a drink they paid for too is very unbusiness like. Epilepsy is a non controllable disorder. read more

I'm on the fence about writing this review. We love the atmosphere of this place (hence the 3 stars instead of 1). We visit SA often, almost monthly and this had been a must stop at location until August 2021. The food is decent, a tad above mediocre. My kids love the video games. Bathrooms are typically clean. Location is great. However, when asked if I wanted to leave a tip for a 20oz bottle soda that I purchased, I declined and was given rude remarks by the cashier/staff. Not only was it disrespectful, I didn't order any food, use any restroom or facilities or gaming machines, etc during this visit to warrant a tip. I didn't sit down in a booth nor did the bottle of soda need to be brought to me. I grabbed it, paid and was gonna leave right after. But this man was giving me rude remarks and lots of attitude about no tip, including saying "thanks for that, we don't need patrons like you who don't tip". read more

Love their variety of heathy yerba mate drinks and other drinks also, their chip variety is great and it is a very peaceful enviorment for family and guys who love sports. I used to have them on my speed dial until we picked up the anchor from St. Augustine. They're willing to deliver to the Municipal Marina, which just added to the awesome. We had cheesesteaks in Philadelphia, and I'm no Philly native nor a real cheesesteak connoisseur, but from all accounts, they do a great job. Last I checked, their meat was cut a little thick for tradition, but I like it that way. I'm not ordinarily a fan of iceberg lettuce salads, but the onions and peppers they add make theirs a treat. I was here on the 4th of July. We were there to watch the fireworks, but there was still plenty of time and we were hungry. As the sit down restaurants in the area all had a 2-3 hour wait time, I decided to just get a sandwich-to-go here. I ordered a philly cheesesteak with provolone. That alone cost me $10! I guess the peppers and onions were extra, which doesn't make ANY sense. That's like offering coffee and charging for cream and sugar. I kept contemplating handing back the number and getting my money back because it was taking so friggin long. Excellent sandwiches!!! The cheesesteaks are the real deal. For a change of pace try the Diablo. The bread they use almost steals the show. It tastes like it is fresh out of the oven. A VERY good Philly in a fun location just off of Saint Augustine's main drag. South-A-Philly bills itself as an authentic Philly restaurant, hence the name, but as I have never been to Philadelphia I can only compare it to the many many other Phillies I've had over the years. This one definitely ranks near the top. I had the basic Philly, with Cheez Whiz, of course (I've been told that's authentic), which also included the steak, and on which I had peppers and onions. The sandwich was a nice size, juicy, and absolutely delicious. The fries, unfortunately, aren't offered in a combo meal, but they really are just plain fries anyway. Nothing special. Coca-Cola products are in the fountain, but I was a little annoyed with the sign saying only one free refill per customer. I understand it is a tourist town though, so maybe they have problems with freeloaders. The staff weren't very friendly, but maybe that is the Yankee attitude of real Philly people. It wasn't unbearable or anything, so not a deal breaker. The restaurant was pretty basic, but the walls had lots of cool Philly paraphernalia. All-in-all, I would absolutely return to this restaurant next time I'm in Saint Augustine. Great food and a cool place to watch a basketball game. read more

This is a great late night Spot that is open until 2 am in St Augustine. If you are craving a massive amount of junk food this is your place. They have it all anywhere from Philly Cheese Steaks, Wings, Cajun Spicy Fries, Funnel Cake Fries. I personally had the Cajun Spicy Fries which were delicious with a BLT. My Daughter had the fried pickles and if you are a pickle person then you will love them. I was surprised however that if I wanted to add a side of sweet potato fries, I would have to fork over an additional $4.00. Maybe it's a big portion or something...
