Delicious dinner with immaculate service from Cindy. My wife, daughter, and I dined here on a Monday evening. Parking was in the structure next to the restaurant, which they validate. My favorites were the whipped ricotta appetizer and seared sea scallops. The ricotta had roasted hazelnuts, pickled red onions, citrus honey, with slices of grilled bread. The ricotta was creamy, flavorful, and complemented the citrus honey well. We were given extra bread to finish the ricotta since it was so good. The sea scallops were seared on top of lemon risotto, port wine reduction, ikura-citrus butter, and chives. The sear was perfect, which left a light crispy top to juxtapose the tender scallops. The lemon risotto was creamy, but not too heavy, with a hint of lemon. The only thing I'd improve is that Happy Hour is only at the bar area, which we didn't sit at due needing a high chair for our toddler so we had to dine in the main area. read more

Had such an amazing dinner here -- everything was on point. We kicked things off with the Watermelon Feta Salad, and OMG... so refreshing and tasty. The combo of juicy watermelon, creamy feta, and that little hint of mint? I ordered the 8oz Steak for my main and it was perfect. Super tender, cooked exactly how I wanted, and packed with flavor. You can tell they take their food seriously here. And you cannot leave without trying the Butter Cake -- it's insanely good. Went here last night and had such a good time. The place is really spacious with plenty of seating. We came on a Saturday night around 8 PM with no reservation and got seated right away which was great. The food was amazing. The salmon was cooked perfectly and super flavorful. The branzino was also really good. The star of the night though was definitely the hummus appetizer. I have no idea what's in it but it was so delicious. The bread that comes with it is addicting. We hit Solstice for Father's Day and it was great! There was a little something for everyone. Arrived early to find our table available and ready. The staff took great care of us. If I was to compare it to something then it would be a fancier version of Cheesecake Factory, but with better drinks and a seasonal menu. No diss to CF, I do go there in occasion. We stopped in for brunch on a Sunday. It's located in a business area where parking is available in the adjacent structure, which Solstice will validate. The restaurant is beautiful as you'll see from our photos and videos. The bar area is stunning and features gorgeous hanging plants and flowers. Our server was kind and made great recommendations. We started with the house made biscuits that came with caramelized citrus honey and apple butter. Saying these were delicious is an understatement. The biscuits were warm, perfectly baked with a slightly crusted top elevated by the citrus honey and apple butter. For drinks, we ordered the Lemongrass Lillet Spritz and Cucumber Collins. The Spritz was okay, but just tasted like prosecco. The Cucumber Collins was refreshing and our favorite of the two so we ordered another one. Since this was our first time here, we wanted to try a sweet dish and something savory. We ordered the Strawberry Yuzu French Toast and PBLT. The french toast was decadent. The yuzu crème anglaise was phenomenal. To balance it out, we paired it with the PBLT, which was braised pork belly, mixed greens, tomato jam, honey-bacon aioli on toasted sourdough and served with fries. The pork belly was great, especially paired with the honey-bacon aioli. Overall, this was one of the best brunches we've had. Definitely recommend. Food, service, and everything else was a 10/10. This is the strangest place I have ever eaten. You might even say bizarre. You get the feeling that the staff is staring at you. I'm talking about you while you eat. They lack friendliness, professionalism, and social skills. And when they bring you the bill, you would think you would get at least a "thank you" but you don't nor do you get eye contact or a smile. We started off with the corn bisque, crudo, and the infamous house parker rolls w/ whipped rosemary honey butter. Super flavorful and delicious! For entrees we had the short rib and sea scallop risotto. The short ribs were really tender and just melted in my mouth. Sea scallops were perfectly cooked but the sweet balsamic over the risotto was a miss for me, and could have done without. Desserts we had the pistachio tres leches and yuzu strawberry butter cake. The tres leches was pretty dense and a bit dry as I don't think enough evaporated milk was used to make it moist. The butter cake however was soooo good!! Came here for a birthday celebration. We were seated right away for a party of 4...but due to some mishap with our host/server, we didn't get serive for a good 15 to 20 minutes. It wasn't a big deal but the host came and apologize and even comp us a bread appetizer. Overall, service and food was fantastic. My table ordered the scallop risotto, braised short rib and short rib pasta. I would say the braised short rib was the best out of the 3 entrees we ordered. Still everything was delicious nonetheless. After finishing our meals, we ordered a strawberry yuzu cake. This dessert was too sweet for my taste. Wouldn't recommend unless you have a sweet tooth. Regret not trying the pistachio tiramisu, maybe that would of been a better option. At the end of the night, they even gave us a handwritten bday card with all staff signing it, which gives it a cute personal touch. Will definitely come back to try more. read more

Came for a buyout night for a friends wedding and we're lucky to try a couple of the couples favorite dishes throughout the night! The food was delicious, especially the Thai coconut shrimp and the scallops. The real standout was the exceptional service we received from Taylor. He was extremely attentive despite there being close to a hundred guests... our drinks were full and waters were refilled, etc. He was very knowledgeable about the menu and had an overall great attitude. We were in a corner so I'm not sure if they forgot about us but it was also hard to wave them down since they couldn't see us that often. This restaurant's menu is seasonal so, it changes 4 times a year which is pretty cool! We came during the Winter season. We started with the Short Rib croquettes. It came with 3 croquettes. It was ok. The short rib thy it was topped with was tender and soft. I order the pan seared salmon which was very moist, but unfortunately it literally had no taste. It was so bad that I had to ask for salt and extra cider emulsion. The skin was nice and crunchy tho. My husband got the Seared Sea Scallops (in the premium selection box on the menu). It came with 4 good sized scallops. This was actually pretty good. The lemon risotto was really good too! My kids got a filet mignon which was soft and tender. The short ribs which was also soft and tender. And the Solstice burger which was juicy. It didn't taste like a fast food burger. But it was all just ok. It wasn't like, "oooh! That's super tasty and flavorful!". Lastly for dessert, we got the Apple Butter cake which was warm and just enough sweet. This is a must-try. All-in-all, I'm not very impressed with this place. Just one look and I knew this break-apart bread would be delicious. My hunch was not wrong, because Solstice's Parker House Rolls are super soft, fluffy pillows of goodness! The whipped herbed butter added a rich creaminess, but honestly the bread is really good on its own too. This was a repeat order during my second visit. * Short Rib Croquettes ($12) - shredded bits of tender short ribs and pickled red onions atop potato croquettes. The pickled red onions really brought this bite-sized appetizer together. It was plenty flavorful without the aji amarillo aioli. Got this during the social hour. * Watermelon & Feta Salad ($16) - I don't like feta, but was so curious about the avocado butter and pickled watermelon rind! Ginger-lime vinaigrette coats the massaged arugula as it serves as a base for generously cubed watermelon, sliced watermelon radishes and diced pickled watermelon rinds. Such a refreshing summer staple for any time of the meal. * Un-Kiwi Cocktail ($10) - this is a zero proof cocktail that just tastes like kiwi-flavored aloe vera juice. Yes, aloe vera juice is the liquor substitution for their non-alcoholic bevvies. It came with a dehydrated kiwi brittle which was fun. * Yuzu Breeze ($18) - can not go wrong with this citrusy concoction! Try this summer cocktail before the season ends. * Strawberry Yuzu Butter Cake ($13) - didn't care for the butter cake or vanilla gelato, but the yuzu crème anglaise and strawberry-elderflower jam were delightful in moderation. We couldn't finish this dessert because it was very sweet and we were quite stuffed. Dishes can be enjoyed solo or they're also great for sharing. Must get the crudo and house rolls! I highly recommend dipping the bread with the garlic chili ponzu sauce because trust me, you don't want to miss out on this salivating experience. So addicting that I can't wait to get it again next time. Cocktails are worth trying here as they make their syrups, juices and garnishes in-house. Brendan greeted us and sat us as we came into the Solstice restaurant without a reservation. He explained that the menu changes often. My personal opinion, I think that is why the name Solstice is on the front of the restaurant. They have seasonal changes in their menu, therefore changes in their ingredient pantry are always rotating. I liked the setup, the bar and the kitchen with the windows.... I had the great pleasure of meeting the Executive Chef, David Castro. David's menu is simple yet very close to his roots. The Grilled Branzino on a bed of "Frijoles Puercos" was brilliant!! The citrusy frisée with radish topping was very refreshing! Then the kicker, a superb "Mole" sauce on the sauce with "crema" and pomegranate seeds for a nice touch brought all flavors together!! It was a play on a "chile enogado". Very nice preparation, service and representation, Executive Chef David Castro! The drive is worth the experience! Interesting location tucked away in a plaza made of corporate-glass-buildings, with a bright, airy, glam interior to match -- soaring ceilings, drop pendant lighting, floor-to-ceiling windows with views into the kitchen -- yet the tables themselves still feel intimate. We had a birthday brunch reservation and our party of 6 was seated immediately. Our server, Giancarlo, was knowledgeable, attentive, and friendly. The hostess also helped us take a group photo outside afterwards. The donuts were surprisingly good. Both sauces were lovely, but the caramel in particular was almost divine. We were told that the donuts came in sets of five, however, Giancarlo was able to throw in an extra one for the six of us. It's the little things. The salmon in the crudo was fatty and buttery which was nicely offset by the tartness of the jalapeño vinegar. I am seeing photos of the salads and am now realizing I did not eat a single vegetable this meal. (Oops.) Both salads joined the clean plate club. PBLT -- it was there one minute and gone the next, like before I could even try it, so I assume it was good. Jumbo Lump Crab Cake Benedict was good. The crab cakes were slightly on the salty side, but the spinach and egg balanced it out nicely. And as other reviewers mentioned, the butter cake was fantastic. A nice and upscale Irvine based American restaurant with food prices matching the highest rent due to the highest rent per square foot Orange County IC landlord passing all of the inflationary costs to the ever willing and seemingly never ending stream of hungry customers who are paying for the higher priced cocktails and foods with small portions to maximize the net profit. This restaurant has a great location, good staffs and average wine selection! The biggest downside is the portion vs. price. The Porterhouse Ribeye for $150 was smaller than the regular ribeye steak and was tough. The risotto was very thin and served little too lukewarm. I'm personally in favor of risotto cooking as it is brought out to the table with the hot stone ware turning from aldante to fully cooked in front of your eyes. The pasta dish was decent but once again lacking the substantial amount of meat. The pricey appetizer was not worth the price. The wait staff was very accommodating but required multiple directions for the plates, utensil changes, etc. Usually one would expect from the high priced restaurants, the service staffs would be little more attentive to the needs of the patrons. Overall I give some credit stars for the location, cool setting and friendly staff but the small portions and extremely overpriced, less than impressive presentation and quality begets solid three stars. I miss the places where you are expected to pay hefty prices for outrageously well crafted and perfectly executed food and services with live entertainment and multiple layers of services from the water server, timely placement of the utensils and appropriate sized dishes as well as portions matching the high priced food. None of these were apparent tonight. We were sorely sorry for the experience but I understand that it's hard to make it in the climate of ever increasing grocery prices and rent increases. Is this place fancy or not fancy? This was the debate my wife and I had as we dined. I lean fancy. She was undecided. The short rib croquettes as an appetizer were a great choice. Really flavorful - but I could do without the onions. I had the salmon and my wife had the scallops. We both enjoyed our seafood. Light and tasty. With a great veggie mix alongside the salmon and a risotto to accompany the scallops. We had a bottle of wine with dinner. Chilled and set off to the side in a freestanding ice bucket--which I referred to as fancy. We finished with a brown butter mocha flourless cake. Divine! Perfect to share with a scoop of vanilla bean ice cream. My verdict: fancy. They are popular at lunch. Local businesses bust down their doors from 11:30 to 1:00. It would be nice if it had more color or something? The food. It was good. My hubby still asks about the braised rib pasta I brought home as leftovers. It was also very tasty and different as it had a white frothy substance that was salty and lemony at the same time. We decided to order a salad as an appetizer or starter and the famous rolls with a delicious butter. The butter changes with the seasons. The salad we ordered was the watermelon and feta salad with a vinaigrette dressing , it was so delicious and refreshing and all the flavors just came together perfectly. For my entree I went with the half roasted chicken that is served with a light and refreshing quinoa with bell peppers and cucumber chopped very small and perfect. The chicken is served with a Peruvian aioli dressing and another delicious sauce that I can't remember what it was called. My husband ordered the beef parpadelle that's one of the popular dishes there. He absolutely loved it ! You also can't leave without having dessert, we ordered the butter cake with a delicious sauce and ice cream. It was not overly sweet or too heavy. Had a wonderful girls' brunch at Solstice to celebrate my birthday. Upon arriving, we were seated in a booth near the center of the restaurant. The interior is polished with some modern decorations but the wooden furniture and natural light from the large windows help to give a more comfortable vibe while still maintaining a more upscale look. Drinks were great. From the seasonal cocktails, the French 75 was very fragrant and the Date Old-Fashioned was nice and sweet. We ordered: -Shrimp and lobster roll: The shrimp and lobster filling was quite salty. The roll was thoroughly buttered and crispy. Fries were also crispy. -Walnut streusel French toast: Crisp on the outside and extremely soft and custardy in the center. So good. -Greens and grains bowl: This dish was very light. I enjoyed the farro and the extra texture from the root vegetables. I wish there was more whipped feta. Still very good. -Carrot cake: Server recommended this dessert and also suggested that we add a scoop of gelato since they thought the cake was on the drier side. The slice of cake was placed very beautifully, with some carrot puree and dried carrots/sprouts on top. I think the cake was moist and definitely on the denser side, so the gelato helped to lighten the texture a bit. Otherwise, no complaints. For my birthday, I received a simple card signed by the staff and an additional seasonal dessert. I have no idea what it was, but it contained sliced apples, cooked spiced apples, a chocolate puree, and crunchy coffee-flavored bits. It tasted like how a coffee shop smells when you first walk in and the scent of freshly ground coffee beans hits you. Our main was the Malbec braised short rib and for dessert we ordered the strawberry yuzu butter cake. Everything was shared and tasted good. Not too salty or sweet and was the perfect amount for two people. Instead of offering a birthday dessert, they gave me a card signed by the staff. Beautiful and elevated venue. Great for events and office get togethers. Food was mediocre; cocktails were good. Here's what we tried. Btw they close for parking. 1. Paper Airplane-Bourbon and aperol with lemon juice. Was ok. 2. French 75- Gin and Prosecco with pear and lemon juice. Good 3. Parker house rolls-freshly baked soft and buttery rolls with herbs. Delicious. Must order 4. Spicy tun tartare-Spicy tuna with cucumber avocado served on tortillas. Nothing special 5. Braised short ribs Papperdelle- dry tender beef strips served in a rich sauce and papperdelle pasta. Was averaged. Little salty for my taste. 6. Malbec Braised short ribs: stunning presentation served in bell jar that gave it Smokey flavor. Meat was tender short rib served with side of buttery soft whipped potatoes and spinach/kale. Was good 7. Branzino-whole fish grilled with walnut cream)tasted my friends and it was good). 8. Filet mignon-medium steak with side of whipped potatoes. Good 9. The most AMAZING restaurant experience I've had in a longggg time! The staff are all so helpful, the inside is GORGEOUS, & the food.... literally melts in your mouth. If you enjoy new tastes and ordering items that are off menu, Tyler and Arian. Most of the dishes on the menu feel like they were specially curated as off-menu items. The flavor profiles complement each other very well. The beet and goat cheese appetizer, along with the short rib, pappardelle are among the best options available. The seats are comfortable and cozy. Ambience is fantastic in the evening with the full wall windows that overlook the boardwalk. Especially nice are the heavy dinnerware that they use. We loved how the white staff came to check on us and provided suggestions on cocktails as well as menu items. read more

Made a reservation for 7pm on a Friday, we got there around 6:50pm. Told the guy working the front my name and reservation time. He tells me I'm late and my reservation was at 6pm with a slight attitude but says he can still get us in. Confused I look through my email to double check the reservation and sure enough it says 7pm. I show the confirmation to the guy and he looks kind of confused but no apology or recognition of the mixup on their end. Not off to a great start. Fortunately once seated our server was super nice and accommodating of our small kids. We ordered the short rib croquette, seared salmon, seafood risotto, and a kids burger for my son. The croquette was decent but nothing special and portion was kind of small. (3 little balls with a small amount of short rib on each). The risotto was disappointing, I was hoping for more of a seafood flavor in the rice but it tasted pretty plain and the rice was overcooked for a risotto and on the soft side. Some of the shrimp on top were overly salty. The cook on the seared salmon was excellent (crispy skin and moist flesh) but everything else in the dish was underwhelming. Veggies were plain and under seasoned. The skin was well seasoned on the salmon but the flesh part was also under seasoned. There also was not enough sauce for the whole piece of salmon. Honestly the best tasting item was the kids burger. My kid likes his burger plain and even with just the meat and bun it was still a very tasty burger. It made us wish we ordered the burger for ourselves as well and made us wonder maybe seafood is not their strong point and ordering meat dishes was the better call. We had high expectations from the reviews and maybe we did not order the right things but overall we came away very underwhelmed. For the price we feel like we did not get the food quality that matched. Combine that with the interaction we had with the staff in the beginning and we will most likely not be making a second visit. read more

Solstice was recommended to me by another local bartender because she knows I am picky about three things: * Food Quality * Comfortability of the seats * Attentive Service Solstice have complimentary parking as well as complimentary valet. It was a hot day so it was nice to not have a walk. Once we entered, we headed for the bar and were greeted by Jimmy. He was friendly and thoroughly explained their menu and highlighted a few stand-out dishes. He also brought out the Brunch and Dinner menus and discussed differences and changes and the seasonal expectations. We noticed immediately that everything was very clean. No fruit flies buzzing around! When deciding where to dine or have cocktails, I always browse the photos for food but just as important as the food is I also look for photos of the seating because my back is really picky. These bar seats were really comfortable which was a huge incentive. I would love to see a foot bar for additional comfort (because I am really short), but definitely not a deal breaker. I was also really impressed with their homemade syrups for their cocktails. I tried the spicy tuna tartare which came with taro chips. The presentation was beautiful and the flavors were outstanding. Every bite was full of flavor. Also equally enjoyable was their Basil butternut hummus which came with toast points. So amazing!! They have a wonderful "social hour" menu, too! Did I mention the Parker house rolls with homemade butter? I am still drooling. Cocktails were phenomenal! I would love to see bubbles and other wine options to complement the food. Also, the lunch rush is real here due to the corporate surroundings so plan accordingly. Overall, this restaurant is a great find! Service was great and was really considerate. The food was pretty good a delicious! I must add that I had the braised short rib pappardelle and it was very tasty and seasoned well. The restaurant was pretty fancy and was a fantastic place to enjoy a nice meal. Be warned though this establishment is on a pricier side so if you're looking for value, look elsewhere. For its class I would rate it around a 4, pretty good and up there. I would recommend this restaurant. read more

Located at the Boardwalk, Solstice offers a variety of Californian cuisine in a relaxed yet upscale ambiance. Izzy offered us excellent service and was super attentive and friendly. They have an expansive bar area, perfect to get work done or grab a happy hour drink. Food was done well, flavorful and uncomplicated, plated nicely. Would def pay them a visit for dinner.
