I can't believe I haven't written a review for this place because it is my go-to local coffee place. I have enjoyed coming here for more than a year and have recommended this place numerous times. The prices are very reasonable for coffee qnd what they have in their bakery, especially the pastries. I have tried the everything croissant like with the salmon which is to die for. I admit one of my friends had tried this before me and now I am addicted because of the flakiness and the cream cheese and salmon all mixed together. I do like the almond croissant a lot and the small little bites like the guava croissant which is nice and sweet and small. It makes me feel less guilty eating it. I have visited friends and brought a whole bunch of goodies from here and they love them all. You honestly cannot go wrong with any of the baked pastries. I've also had some of their specialty drinks like coconut cream coffee. However, getting the black coffee is just as good and strong. Their specials are located right near their cash register and they typically have two of the day. I think today they had some matcha type of drink which I'll have to try next time. If you want quality, reasonable prices and love baked goods, be sure to stop by. I was looking for a good place to sit and have an afternoon coffee when I came across Soleluna. It's a quaint little coffee shop with three small tables on an outdoor patio and a few spots inside. The decor of the place is really beautifully done, and it looks like they normally have a selection of pastries available (by 2pm it was just a few croissants left). I ordered a decaf flat white, and it came out perfectly foamed and light. There was no line when I got there, and the baristas were quick to get the order out. They also have a selection of homemade flavored syrups, if that's your kind of thing. Great atmosphere and great coffee! The coffee was just OK and the pastries were mediocre at best. They clearly weren't made fresh in the morning and have been refrigerated overnight as they weren't even room temperature but cold. My husband and I were pleasantly surprised by this cute and seemingly family owned restaurant. The line was out the door but once we got inside this quaint coffee shop had their systems down and it was very efficient. The pastries looked fresh and delicious - so many were completely picked over before 10 am. Our lates were well balanced, but even better...well priced. For two oat milk lattes with (homemade) syrup $7.70!! They had a range of homemade syrups from honey lavender to hazelnut to vanilla with alternative milks like oat and almond. Super cute cafe and friendly staff. I frequent coffee shops and am always left with wanting better tasting pastries and drinks. But Soleluna was the complete package and a 10/10! I ordered the iced Mocha Latte which was pretty good. The star of the show for me were the pastries! they have a couple of unique options but most importantly-they are made freshly in the morning! Came in around 7:30 and they were putting out quiches, and my pastries were still warm. We got the Spinach and Feta Croissant, Pistachio croissant, almond Croissant, Cinnamon Pecan Roll. They also weren't cheap and made sure the pastries were generously filled. Went on a walk with City Girls Who Walk DC (if you haven't heard of them, look them up right now!) and this was one of the food/coffee options at the end of our route. I chose this place since the reviews looked good and it did not disappoint: super cute exterior and interior (though it is quite small inside, had three little tables with two chairs each, if I recall correctly) and SUPER friendly staff! Great prices on coffee and pastries, too, and my latte wasn't too sweet. Their vanilla bean syrup was very delicious. I didn't get a pastry, but I did salivate over all the different offerings they have. The coffee and pastries are amazing and very affordable compared to other cafes in the area! The place is tiny and offers only a few seats but I recommend grabbing a coffee and pastry and heading over to the nearby Kalorama park and finding a cute spot to enjoy! My go to order has been an iced americano and an almond croissant! This place always has a line out the door (at least the times when I've been) but rightfully so! The line does move very fast so don't feel intimidated if you see it out the door! They make both their coffee and pasties in house and you can definitely taste (and smell) the freshness! Alright I'm reviving my Yelp account JUST to say... I have tried many cafes in DC and so far Soleluna has my favorite pastries in the city. I said it! ~Pastries are always perfectly flaky. The almond croissant? Get outta town. They also have some unique flavors like guava. I'm drooling on a snowy evening as I write this. The best part is that they are *consistently* good, i.e. there has never been a day when I've shown up and had my sugarplum dreams of sweet and savory pastries dashed by a dry bite. ~The cappuccinos have been a hit or miss depending on who is making them. Had high expectations for this bakery/cafe, so I was a little bit disappointed after actually trying it. The inside space is pretty cozy with only two small tables, but they do have outlets, and they have a couple tables outside. I got an iced honey lavender latte and a kouign amann - I also had wanted to try their everything bagel danish but they were already sold out of that and many other things by the time that I got there (around 11am on a Monday), so definitely get there earlier if you want the full selection. The latte was decent; a little bitter for my tastes and I didn't really taste any of the honey or lavender flavor, but I have heard good things about their vanilla syrup so I'll probably try that next time. I wasn't a huge fan of the kouign amann, as I found it a bit more on the bready side rather than flaky, and the outer layer had the faintest taste of dish soap. The only thing that wasn't disappointing was the price - I think it was $4 for the latte which is incredibly affordable compared to other places in DC, so I definitely want to come back and give them another chance. read more

This cafe is nicely tucked away in the Adams Morgan area of DC and I stumbled upon it after several yelp searches to find a good pastry/ grab 'n go breakfast place in the area. The front and interior of the cafe is a very elegant green, with three tables on a small platform in front of the main window that give the place its own unique "almost at a cafe in Europe" feel. The people working there greet you with a smile that even on the coldest days would probably feel like the sun was still shining through. They have a just right amount of pastry selection, a thought out balance of sweet and savory and so naturally I had to try both. I got the guava and spinach and feta croissants. The guava is small but might, bite sized but giving you just the right around of guava flavor that is to be craved. I definitely need to come back soon for more of these, they teeter at a dangerous level of being something you could pop 20 a mouthful, or a commodity you would want on a special occasion or for a small win. The spinach and feta was exactly what I needed in the moment as a savory balance and both croissants had the rich flakiness that I enjoy. The chai tea latte was better than any in Boston, but give it a 3.5/5 because it's syrup based and didn't really taste like how chai would. read more

It is really worth your while to visit this place just for the pastries. One of the best places for pastries in the DC area, for sure. And the staff are super friendly, making for a pleasant experience. Plus the owner has done a great job with the decor, recalling a classic parisian cafe. Very charming. The one bad thing is that their cappuccinos, lattes, and other hot espresso drinks are bad, bordering on terrible. Too much milk, wrong temperature, you name it. It's a shame, because they have an extremely high-end espresso machine. I really hope the management gets someone in to better train the staff on how to make proper hot espresso drinks. The hot chocolate was a bit more meh (but not much worse than the average found across DC and America more generally). Super-friendly and warm staff. However, warning: There is no bathroom. In a neighborhood where there are multiple coffee shops on every block, I feel silly that I'm so extremely happy with this place. This is probably the best coffee shop to open in DC in the last year. Really reasonable prices for a NW DC coffee shop. $3.50 for a 16oz iced latte is hard to beat for a high quality non-chain. I guess even chains are charging at least that much now actually. Seating is limited but their front patio is a good option on days with nice weather. If you're looking for a cafe to post up and work on a laptop at this probably isn't the right one. The staff are wonderful, and the pastries are always warm. Nearly every time I'm there I see one of the staff members bringing new pastries out of the kitchen.
