We were watching Good Day Sacramento and saw this place. They were doing huge Texas donuts for $10 and the proceeds go to Hurricane Harvey. So we had to stop in. All the employees were very nice and helpful. We got a Chocolate Texas donut, Cherry Fritter and Cinnamon Roll. The Cherry Fritter was just cherry glaze throughout the mixture. My husband said there wasn't any inside at all and the flavour could've been better. Everything else we got was amazing. There was seating outside and a bunch of tables inside if you wanted to stay to eat. The prices are really good for the sizes they offer. We'll definitely be coming back. read more

We always stop here on our way, or on our way back from the Bay Area. We always get breakfast sandwiches and donuts. Today we got our usual sandwiches and donuts, plus a couple coffees. I tried a couple of their cannolis which were delicious (I've never had a cannoli before). My husband and I just love this place. Solano has delightful pastries. I got their Apple fritter, which was sweet but not too sweet. I do wish there would of been just a little bit more apples though. I also got a mocha, which was a lot of bitter and not a lot of chocolate. I ended up throwing the whole thing out. My husband got a sausage egg and cheese on a plain bagel and a Carmel macciato. The sandwich was definitely made in the microwave, but taste wise it was ok. Kind of bland, lacking seasoning. This bakery has a huge variety of baked goods to choose from; it's truly incredible! I originally came in for donuts, but ended up adding muffins, sandwiches, and cookies! I could have kept adding things on if my husband hadn't stopped me! We make sure we stop by whenever we are in the area. The California Club and Cafe Caliente Croissant are my go-to's! And I won't ever leave without some blueberry muffins! They are truly the best here! Not only is this bakery filled with so many options, but they are all delicious! This review is based SOLEY on their bagels. I was going through town today and wanted to stop in for, nostalgic reasons, and order a bagel for bf. They no longer serve onion bagels (what!?) as they did the last time I was in. So I ordered an everything bagel (sigh) asked for it toasted w cream cheese. I also asked for a med sized soda. The med sized soda was SO small I questioned whether I got the right sized cup. The gal compared it to the small and it looked identical but she kindly poured it into a large and filled the remainder at no charge. When I got the bagel I could not believe how THIN it was. It was as thin as those diet ones that are sold in the store. So thin it flopped over in my hand. And the cream cheese was a bit runny. Very disappointed. This used to be my go to stop every morning when I lived in the area. I always used to get a quality onion bagel but sadly the quality has gone down to zero. read more

OK why am I just now finding out about this amazing please? Was in Dixon getting gas and starving. Doing the social distancing thing was reluctant to walk in but they had safety measures in place! The problem that I saw was I felt like I gained weight the second I started looking in the cases. Everything looked so amazing eye candy to delicious! My husband got an egg and cheese on a bagel sandwich. I got the croissant with egg, cheese and the tomato on it. I had to get a loaf of sourdough jalapeño bread. My husband said the latte was amazing. I just want to know why this place is not in Roseville. Please consider opening one here we so need some thing like you. I Love love love Solano Baking Co. I don't go often, but when I do, I practically drool all over the glass on the display cases. I get the cinnamon rolls that are HUGE and the best I have ever eaten. If there are 5 in the case, I get 5. If there are 10 I get 10. They are sooooo good. Now about the people that work there. Fantastic. They are friendly, helpful and very patient. I wish they were closer to me (I am in Suisun), but then again maybe that would not be a good idea. I would be there too often. I travel around in some interesting areas for my work, and have many opportunities to eat local food in small towns. Obviously, with 5 stars, Solano Baking Co. falls into the great family recipes group. Great food doesn't necessarily translate into great experiences, so that is why I distinguished the term, "family traditions". Many reviews in urban settles look at ambiance, food, service wait time, etc. In the case of rural family establishments, I don't give any weight to ambiance, rather, the food and the service create the whole experience and ambiance is really how they make you feel. With that said, the people working here are the kind of people you would want to invite over for dinner! I forgot my wallet, back in the Bay Area-- 2 hours away. The owner let me pay later by calling in my card info. I actually had my wife send me hers', but the point is, I got fed. I got fed not just friendly and compassionate food, but I got fed good, country, family recipe food. I ordered a breakfast bowl with biscuits and gravy with sausage and it took all of 4 minutes for me to inhale such a scumcious delight. I barely chewed it, even though I had a ton of time. Hear me out here.... i don't know how they do it, but their coffee is phenomenal! I could drink their coffee black and it doesn't have this bitter taste, it is the smoothest coffee in town! I'm not even exaggerating. Their donuts & cookies are fresh every day! We visit Solano Baking Company after each visit to the Sacramento Valley National Cemetery. Their bakery is delicious with many options to choose from. Sometime we have a breakfast delight and other times a pastry, donut or muffin to choose from. They have an amazing array of items to choose from (6 bakery cases or more full of goodies). The atmosphere is casual, comfortable, and inviting. Very busy early in the morning. You can chose from donuts to full breakfasts. I had the Breakfast Bowl for $4.99. Unfortunately, the day we went, we found a hair baked into the bread. Picking it a bit more, we found a few more hairs. We were a bit grossed out, but the girl behind the counter was very nice and made us replacement bagel sandwiches and threw in an extra sandwich and cookie. Talk about customer service. SBC has amazingly good donuts. The staff is very friendly and helpful. One star taken off for Turkey club. The Turkey was awful. I don't think it is breast meat ( pockets of fat and dark meat in cold cuts) but for $12 it should be turkey breast. Also the avocado is a spread- not slices.
