My piece of short rib was easily the size of a regulation baseball. Cooked fork tender and not stringy. Seasoned perfectly and not overpowering the meat's own flavor. Small bit of tasty gravy for dipping. Oh, lordy! Medley of fresh green beans, cubed zucchini, tri-color bell peppers, and maybe even a yellow squash. $34 out the door with a solid second meal in a go container. Top level service. Nothing stood out to me as "wow!" But then, nothing bad stood out to me either. Decent breakfast, but some toast would have been nice. This is our third time dining here for lunch, and this time around we went with breakfast options. It wasn't too busy when we arrived but it really started to pick up not long after. The pancakes my wife had smelled really good and she enjoyed them. The biscuit and gravy I started with was fantastic. Fresh biscuit and the gravy had a nice spicy kick to it. The presentation of the chicken and waffles was a thing of beauty! It also came with eggs, crispy bacon, and fresh blueberries. The exterior of the waffle had a nice crisp while fluffy in inside and a sweet touch to the taste. The chicken was very tender and juicy. If anything, I wish maybe the chicken would've had a little more crisp to it because the parts that were crispy had great flavor and crunch. It was still very good and I would order it again. Had a great time with Josh at Trivia night with my mom. Easton was a great server. Mom had veggie pizza and Arnold Palmer and I had Asian Chicken salad no peppers or walnuts but add bacon bits with different flavored lemonades. Yummy.....both entrees were great. Mom has a third of my salad and I had 2 pieces of her pizza. Stayed for all 3 rounds and got 3td place- $5 card to Dutch Bros. Will be back (probably alone) for paint night Saturday ....will just sip on lemonade lol. Keep up with the fun free events... It sets you apart from all other local restaurants. I want to thank Amy, Maggie, and Ramon for a great service. Drinks are always good but the food ... we had pizza for the first time we normally are there for lunch. Dinner opens at 4PM. We tried the pizza. It was the best pizza we have had in so long. I'm not a crust guy. It's normally dry and too much when we order on line. This was to die for. We used to go to buds to eat. They have gone downhill. It's a blessing that Dawson's is here. Give it a try on the dinner menu, and did I mention the pizza? ... sooo good. read more

We were blown away by Dawson's Bar and Grill! The vibe was great! Everyone greeted us with a smile and service was quick and very efficient! We chose the Pastrami Sandwich with seasoned fries and OMG, the pretzel bun was so soft and complemented the super lean pastrami stacked up inside!! We loved everything about our meal and to top it all off...the entire place is absolutely SPOTLESS. INCLUDING THE BATHROOM! We will definitely be back. And we live an hour away. MUST READ just moved to dixon not to long ago and me and my bf wanted some drinks on halloween & we seen all the good reviews so we went on over around 7 no one greeted us when we walked in so we sat ourselfs down. after five minutes, I asked my boyfriend to go get us a food menu since no one was coming to check on us when he came back. He said the guy that gave me the menus said someone will be with us shortly. We waited another 20 minutes and keep in mind. It wasn't busy. There were a few people in there with some friends, but already had drinks and food. Then the bartender walked from behind the bar and I locked eyes with him and he made a double look and then came up to us asking "are you guys good" My boyfriend then said we've been wanting to order & then i only ordered drinks & told him we won't be eating here tonight, he said okay and left to make our drinks. took another 10 mins for our 2 drinks when there was no one else ordering. A lot of things have changed around here in Dixon and I never like to play the race card, but I am Hispanic and my boyfriend is black so we felt a bit profiled and felt like they were being a bit racist towards us & maybe especially because everyone else in there (about 6 people) happen to be white. we then finished our drinks paid & nothing else was said to us after paying and getting up. just very poor service if it wasn't anything racist towards us. Came here after a funeral service at the VA cemetery. The service was excellent, my only disappointment was my hamburger, it was disgusting. It basically was a patty microwaved and thrown on the grill for a little bit. In'n'Out would have been a far better choice and cheaper. It wasn't even the meat, it was how it was cooked. After having a rough day but passing an exam, my gf and I stopped here for a drink and lunch. I got a chicken sandwich with the best fries I have ever had. The ranch dressing on the side was really good. The sandwich was over all delicious, chicken could have used a little more seasoning but other than that it was delicious. Our waitress was really sweet and attentive. Checked on us a few times. We went during the week, it wasn't packed but not empty, a few people dining as well. The flavor was ok but they cooked the shit out of it. Asked for medium rare and they cooked it medium at best. It came with mashed potatoes that came from a box. The veggies were average. The mac and cheese is awful! It tastes like chocolate and it's gritty. Fried pickes were bad but were sour. My lemonade tasted like water with sugar in it. I went with a friend this morning for brunch. We got there around 11:30 and the place was busy, but not packed. I got the lemon poppyseed pancakes. It took a really long time (around 45-50 minutes) for our food to come out. According to our waiter, our order had been placed right after a large party's order, but we didn't get this info until about 12:15 and didn't get our food until 12:35. The food itself wasn't great. Both my friend's food and mine were cold. We also both tasted my pancakes and neither of us could taste any hint of lemon in them, and that was before I added any butter or syrup. They were ok pancakes, just not as advertised and not anything special. They also weren't really a good sized portion; I had eaten a snack before going out and still didn't feel satiated when I left. I could definitely have gotten the same taste, and probably warmer and quicker, at my local IHOP. To his credit, our server was friendly and polite, and he did offer to microwave our food for us. However, the issue is that food that is served fresh out of the kitchen shouldn't be cold all the way through, and at that point my friend and I were too hungry to risk another 10 minute delay. I will definitely never be coming back and recommend that others save their time and dollars for somewhere else. read more

It took a a while for our food to come out. As we chatted in conversation our food finally arrived. We were hungry. As we started to eat our food. I took a bite of my Shrimp Tacos they were cold. My friends Fettuccine was cold to. The lady came up and ask us was ate food ok. We proceeded to tell her our food was cold. She offered a discount which I thought was not good enough. In my opinion we should got 50% or free. This is why they messed up on my friend's Fettuccine with the wrong noodles. I could say the plate looked appetizing and food was good. I just wish it was a hot meal we were paying for. Btw they do have a happy hour. Might go back and try it again we shall see. read more
