Kder and I stopped by here on the way to Davies. Getting gas and hungry, she exclaimed that Solano Baking Co. often comes to the Davis farmer markets. I was so hungover from the night before of downing a Suppenkuche Das Boot and hadn't eaten all day and would have eaten anything. Kder's skinny arm looked tempting during the drive. My body demanded sustenance. I ordered the Solano sandwich which was avocado, turkey and jack while my girlfriend ordered the veggie sandwich. I looked like a monster, a creature from the black lagoon, and the cashier cowered accordingly. The sandwich was presented beautifully. It was delicious. Solano Baking Co. uses focaccia bread in their panini and it is wonderfully soft and rips apart easily when you bite. Kder's veggie sandwich was surprisingly very good for being vegetarian. My only complaint is they are stingy on the meat. I had a layer of turkey, consisting of 2 pieces. Don't open the sandwich and eat it open faced...it is better that you don't see the portions. You will be very sad. Beyond that gripe, the cheese was melted perfectly and the vegetables and avocado provided the perfect amalgamation. Ok, so I got a refund which raised my stars from 1 to 2. To start with the good, muffins were pretty good but dry. I thought the location itself was pretty cute on the inside. Paninis on the other hand had a single slice of meat, solid bread, not heated up, no panini grill used just cold bread with nothing inside. It was not a sandwich and not enjoyable. I don't even have a photo to share, but I just devoured the BEST PANINI I have ever had in my life. I got the California... it has turkey, cheesy gooey melted cheese, a generous portion of avocado, and an aioli (which I only skipped to cut calories), all on pressed focaccia. I wish I could share this sandwich with everyone I know! And don't know. :) My niece also ordered a version of the California on sourdough. We came for sweets on a leisurely Wednesday afternoon during Spring Break. This place has always been a favorite breakfast meet up spot. I now will make it point to add Solano Baking Co. to my lunch favorites. The focaccia alone would be worth any trip to Dixon. You need to check this place out! My boyfriend and I decided to grab some lunch here. He ordered the Cali club and I ordered the Santa Rosa panini. Sooo yummy! The deli meats are fresh, produce is fresh, and there was a delicious dijon mustard on my panini that left me wanting another sandwich! The Santa Rosa panini reminded me of a Cubano sandwich. We also ordered the iced caramel macchiato (2 of them), which was good just a little too sweet for my liking. I like my coffee to have more of the bitter coffee flavor, so I would say they could just make the coffees a little stronger. We also ordered a couple of donuts and some cookies. If you come around two it is "happy hour" and donuts are half off! The chocolate donut was really delicious, I've never had a simple chocolate donut that tasted that amazing before. I will definitely be back. Great breakfast, brunch, or lunch spot. I'm really impressed with the prices too, for a sandwich combo, half sandwich, two coffees, and several baked goods it was a little over 30 bucks which is a great price during these times! Went by this local place a few weeks ago to grab some fresh donuts and WOW, I was surprised! The food that they make there is made on site, nothing trucked in. Wonderful staff there too, and they know the products very well. There's also a few neat things to look at and purchase in the main room. If you have a sweet tooth, or a savory taste, this place will set you up for success. Definitely not somewhere to visit if you're on a strict diet! read more

Quick and delicious! Stopped here on my way out of town for the classic breakfast bowl and avocado toast! Breakfast bowl was good, but I needed to add hot sauce for some more flavor. I was real excited to come here after a friend recommended Solano Bakery to me. Upon entering, I didn't know what I wanted because there's so much variety here. From donuts to muffins to croissants, cookies, cupcakes, cakes, and tarts. I wanted to try them all, but I ended up ordering the ham&cheese croissant with a red velvet muffin to go. I was so excited to try the red velvet muffin, since I've never even seen a red velvet muffin. Thinking it would be similar to a red velvet cupcake, but less sweet, I took one bite of the muffin and totally regretted purchasing it. It was the most dryest muffin I've ever tasted. One bite made me realize that I would need a lot of coffee or water to get it down my throat. That's how dry it was. The taste was also the blandest muffin I've ever had...total fail! This place is really good for different reasons: 1- back in 2009 they made my wedding cake. It was beautiful and really good. I sat with the owner herself and tasted various cakes, frostings, and fillings. She listened to exactly what I wanted and on my wedding day she can and delivered it herself and it was perfect. 2- the donuts and cupcakes are always very fresh. You walk in and you can just smell the yummyness. 3- the breakfast sandwiches. I've only had a breakfast sandwich once. But it was good. I got ham egg and cheese on a plain bagel. I don't like my bagel toasted and it was so fresh. It was nice and chewy. The cheese was melted. It had a lot off scrambled egg on it. Ham was tasty. 4- the panini sandwiches. I've only had one once but it also was very good. I got the Santa Rosa wich had ham,bacon, cheddar cheese,tomatoes and it comes with Dijon mustard which I got with out yuck. But it came on herb focaccia bread. It was so flavorful. It was grilled nicely. Warm with cheese melted. My husband an I each got a while sandwich and got vegetable soup on the side to share. Soup was not the best I've had but not the worst. I would get it again. Our sandwiches also came with a giant chocolate chip cookie. All in all this is a nice cozy place. It's always got people inside eating and talking or working on their laptops. The decor is very cute. It's so homey in there. I had no intentions of coming here it was a total whim. So happy I stopped in! I needed 7 dozen donuts / muffins for a company meeting. Staff was super helpful, offers me a coffee while I waited and even helped me to my car. These pastries were delicious and enjoyed by all. I use to love their sandwiches but the last few times have been really bad. The donuts and coffee are still great but today I had my worse sandwich there. Literally, the bread tasted like it hadn't been finished baking. But really for me was all it bad had was one slice of turkey and two rings of an onion. I always love going here not only for their amazing samples and sweets but also for their yummy sandwiches, salad and desserts. We love to stop here before we head to the bay area because it is just off the freeway and easy to get to. Plenty of parking and never too crazy. I would suggest the Salano Sandwich because its one of my favorites with turkey, jack cheese, fresh avocado and aioli sauce! We also have ordered their yummy breakfast croissant sandwiches which always live up to my expectations. The bathrooms may need a good cleaning every now and then and the venue is very low key. Lovely old fashioned bakery with a variety of muffins and doughnuts. We tried the double chocolate, razzleberry and peach muffins and an apple fritter- all delicious, fresh and generously sized. We also bought a cinnamon loaf to take home. Prices are very reasonable. Service was polite but we had to keep pointing and asking questions about the baked goods on display. We have always liked this place because they have great doughnuts, bagel sandwiches, cakes etc but today they went over the top. We were hauling a trailer with our truck and our check engine light came on. We had planned to come here anyway so we pulled into the empty lot (they weren't open yet) and began troubleshooting. We were out there a good 45 minutes and out comes one of the girls with doughnuts and coffee for both of us! Color me shocked! What service! We were planning to go in anyway and I felt bad we took so much of their parking lot but they were totally unconcerned and so sweet about it. They wished us a safe trip and told us they hoped we could fix the truck easily. The sign out front says they're family first and a family business second. Traveling I80 and needed a quick snack. Was heading to McDonalds and noticed the bakery across the street. What a FIND!! The ham and cheese croissant was delicious, assembled with my choice of cheese and warmed. The apple fritter is the definition of perfect. Crunchy on the edges, soft in the middle, lots of apple. Super disappointed in the value for your dollar. The Solano Panini (not pressed) with one paper thin slice of turkey and same paper thin slice of cheese. Its basically mayonnaise on warm bread. This is not a Panini nor is it a sandwich. I will stick to their donuts and Rosemary's for yummy lunches. **I did call the restaurant and was advised one to two pieces of turkeys normal depending on the thickness of the turkey. Well I guess 1 paper think slice of turkey the standard. They were not the least bit concerned about my disappointment. read more

When I walked in for the first time I liked how it was busy. I was greeted by one of the workers there. I told her it was my first time what are your recommendations? Another worker stated welcome if I had confetti I'd throw it at you. Immediately I knew the vibe was great from all the joking workers; like places with Interaction. I ordered donut holes, donuts, muffins, coffee and a breakfast bagel sandwich. On the way home coffee was great for my drive back home since I live in Vacaville (yes I travel for good food). I got home to try everything I got with my wife. We loved EVERYTHING. Being in the military I've tried lots of local businesses. By far one of the top places to eat for breakfast and great coffee.
