Came in from a recommendation. I had to remind the tech 3 times not to cut a certain side of a nail I have problems with, then I had to remind her to cut my nails. They were long and that's why I needed a pedi, and all she did was file just a little until I asked are you not going to cut the nails? Then at the end they tried to charge me for an upgraded service which I barely had the basic service! It was a bad pampering session to say the least. I will not be return and I do not recommend. read more

I have been twice for SNS nails with extensions. I've been delighted with how cute they are but THEY NEVER have listened to me when I say they're too long. I like a wee bit of an extension so that they still look natural but longer than my short stubby natural nails. Both times I've felt weird in real life with such long fake nails, idk why they can't just do them how I ask. Next time I'll either find another place to go or bring a picture of exactly what I want read more

I have been to a lot of places to get my nails done, and for the price and quality this place is one of the best. I usually get the dip, but many places I have been to it will only last a few days before peeling off (very oily nail beds). I'm not quite sure what they did at SoCo nails, but the dip actually lasts for me. And they did a good job applying it- I'm pretty picky so if I'm pleased with the results they have done a great job. read more

Giving four stars only because I'm not really sure why they even bother to take appointments -- each time I've gone, I've made an appointment and still ended up waiting at least an hour inside the shop once I arrive. If you're going to go, be sure to add an extra hour and a half onto your allotted nail time. Other than the long waits without much interaction or explanation from staff, this place rules. They've always done a really awesome job on my nails and I have no complaints. The pricing is also really reasonable, and they have a really nice color selection and several cool add-on options for glitter, shine and other effects. Last time I was there I overheard a man getting his nails done who was being very, VERY picky about his nail art and the technician was patient and accommodating. They also have free drinks to keep you quenched during the (usually very long) wait. I'll probably go again! read more

I normally come here monthly for a manicure & every 3 months or so for a pedicure. I recommended my sister to come here for a pedicure. Besides the fact that my sister already feels awkward with people touching her feet, she has a disability that limits the movement of her right arm & foot. Because my sister was nervous, her right foot kept getting very tense & the lady who did her pedicure rudely kept telling her to RELAX, even after the fact that my sister explained that her foot doesn't work that well. This caused people to stare at my sister which made it very embarrassing for her. Upon finishing, the lady said thank you & left, without offering any heat to dry the polish OR sandals! My sister went in there with shoes so since she didn't get offered sandals, she put her shoes back on & messed up the polish before she could even leave the salon. My sister is very shy and humble so she did not say anything but she came home embarrassed and crying as she told me her experience. They have lost me as a customer & I will not refer anyone again. read more

I went in for a manicure and a dip re-fill they took the current dip off but when it came time to apply new dip they did not file, shape or attempt a manicure. When i asked them to file and shape my nails before applying new dip, they looked at me like I was crazy and said they didn't do that when applying new dip. What the hell?? This is my first ever Yelp review so I want to start out on a positive note. I've gotten my nails done here a few times and have consistently been happy with how they turned out. My first time ever getting acrylics was at Soco and I thought the nail techs were very attentive. They helped me to pick out a color that would show up well, and gave me options for the shape, which I appreciated! They are also reasonably priced and conveniently located on South Congress. However. Today I made the mistake of coming here for a bikini wax...don't do it. First of all, the towel they gave me to cover up initially was not clean and had obvious stains. I was relieved to take it off to begin the wax and get things going, but things only went downhill. First of all, the room is very cramped and the table where they have you is at a very awkward angle, making it hard for the waxer to really "get in there". It unfortunately though didn't seem like the waxer made any effort to work around it and do a thorough, efficient job. I was sitting there for close to an hour and the hair was still patchy and stubbly. I also found the woman doing the waxing to be fairly unprofessional. She was consistently going "oh my god!", like she was shocked at the amount of hair. She would also sigh, and shake her head...as if it's not awkward already to have a stranger staring at and waxing your vagina. At first it was kind of funny and I went along with it, but after an extended period of time it got to be super annoying and honestly kind of humiliating. She also was not wearing gloves, and after she would lay down the wax she would ask me to hold the little stick, which was covered in wax and hair. She also--every fucking time--she took off a strip off, put the hair-covered strip in my face to show me. I felt bad because she spoke very little English so it was hard to communicate that I didn't want her to do something. I did try to communicate that I was super uncomfortable and she at first stopped and then started doing again a couple minutes later. Also, and maybe this was just due to the weird angle of the table, was REALLY not careful where she was touching...I felt like I was being manhandled throughout the entire fucking procedure. It got to a point where I just told her to stop because the experience was so awful and it was pretty clear she didn't know what she was doing. I left the room feeling icky, unsatisfied, and like a moron for spending my money there. Maybe I sound like an entitled brat, but I genuinely was extremely uncomfortable and honestly shocked by the lack of professionalism. I'm not a stranger to getting waxed. It's obviously going to be painful and a little awkward, but there is a certain standard that you expect from someone you're paying to be up in your business. Tl;dr-- don't come here for a bikini wax unless you want to waste your money and be upset. read more

I called and made my appt for a full set and a pedicure. Once I arrived i was told to have a seat and wait. I patiently waited for almost 25 min before I was even seated for my full set! I was seated and had to keep showing the nail tech several times what I wanted done. Not only that she kept handling my nails roughly as she was doing my nails! Several people start walking in and she then starts to rush through my manicure. I look at her like are you serious right now! The paint on my nails were so splotchy. Once she's finished she just walks away and I'm sitting there like I made an appt for a pedicure too and are you going to fix this! She doesn't and by that point I'm ready to leave.I tell her and she rudely tells me how busy they are and all this other bs! Not my problem I'm the customer and I was not handled in such a way. I'm paying for services just like everyone else and as a customer I should be treated fairly. I definitely will never be coming back here again this salon is overpriced and unprofessional. I made it home and checked my Acct to my surprise I see where the nail tech VANNA left a $5.00 tip on top of what I authorized to be taken out!! Very shady and fraudulent business read more

So I called before going in and asked if there was a wait for a full set, gentleman who answered the phone said no. I literally was there in like 3 minutes I was down the street. So I pick my colors sit down and this older woman files one of my nails down then walks away idk where...come back a few minutes later. Stands next to me speaking what ever foreign language for like minutes arguing about who knows what with another employee. I finally speak up and say hey can we get started or what? Oh yes yes ...anyway she says says something to another employee who in return tells me to move to a different chair. Ok so now another lady is going to do my nails but keeps telling me to get shellac nails and she ends up persuading me saying they have the exact same colors available in gel. So she finds the colors and I show her the picture of the nails I wanted just to be sure she could accomplish that look. She says yes and continues to work mumbling shit under breath...fast forward to the end she didn't even have the colors I asked for and the end results suck, now it looks like I have Christmas colors in fall yay!!! I was in a hurry to leave if not I would of made a big fart for her to correct them but I couldn't stay any longer. Anyway I will most definitely not be returning and do not recommend them. They seem very unorganized and definitely lack a variety of colors in regular nail polish. Ohh and I forgot to add the lady who was first doing my nails ended up doing a mani on another lady as she was finished puts the nail clippers back into the sanitized bag and was ready to reuse them on the next customer smh. read more

I love this place! I have been going to see Quang for a while now. I always request that he does my nails, he does such a wonderful job. The new location is very nice and everyone that works there has always been so kind and accommodating. Plus, my nails always look great! I have always had a problem growing out my nails and Quang helped me develop a plan to get mine to grow out and to help strengthen them. First time at SoCo nails - it will not be the last! The technician who did my gel nails was unhappy with the way they turned out, so she took all the polish off and started completely over. I've been having my nails done for 35 years and NO ONE has ever done that. Nor has anyone EVER told me in all that time NOT to use soap when I wash them after They put on the acrylic. It was the use of soap she explained that screwed up the finish of the gel. Nevertheless, kudos to SoCo for keeping this customer very happy. This place has no idea what a good nails spa is. Came in for a normal manicure and it was so disappointing. They don't know the basics of how to clean (no salts or soap to soak in), no hydration for the nails and moisturized my arms after the nail paint was done. I've been trying to call and make an appt for the last 45 minutes with no answer. Last time I called it went straight to voicemail. Not sure what's going on but they're supposed to be open. She was charged more than quoted price by 20 dollars and gave it a fancy name. My poor grandaughter got SNS was cut in two places. Needless to say they will not be going back there ever. And I walk in at 5:59, my appointment is at 6, there is someone in the chair, she started her nails about 10 minute prior to me walking in--- they ask me could they help me and she knows I'm there for her. They tell me pick a color (I've already picked a color bc I came in last week to see if they had the yellow I wanted bc I'm going to the bahamas TOMORROW) and I told them I had it already. I asked how long (which I knew it'd be another 30 or more minutes) they told me 30m -- a lie bc that's girls nails were SUPER long -- and I said I'll go somewhere else and never return because WHY make an appt if you are going to do what you wanna do. There is two different worlds: Deaf people who can't hear and hearing people who can hear. But it is surprising that their service to the deaf costumer are fabulous! One of my student went there and got dissatisfied due to not giving her what she wanted, because she doesn't know the difference between "Gel" and "Powder dip," so the next day I went in with her and requested to see if she could received the re-do nails color. It was hard at first when I communicated with them because we only can communicate effectively by writing or typing through the iPhone note texts. It took us about 1 hour to do all the end meet. The nail salon service said they asked her if she wanted acrylic and my student said yes. It was part of her mistake for not knowing the words and I taught her that next time she will need to inform the service that she wanted a powder dip. So the nail salon gave her another chance to re-do and the result came out as excellent at no charge but their beautifully nails done were completed and ready for her to go to the Prom on May 19th! I would highly recommend people to stop by at this place! They will tell you an honest opinion and facts about their service but they will eventually meet the exact of what you want to do with your nails. :) Thank you! read more

I live in the area and stopped here on a whim after shipping something at the UPS store next door, thinking I'd found a nice new place. I went in hoping to have a gel pedicure and I also had an old set of nails that needed to be taken off and was still up in the air about what I wanted to do to my nails next. After not being greeted, being bounced around from staff to staff and a bunch of unanswered questions I became frustrated and decided to only have the old set of nails removed. I was offered "dip" nails on multiple occasions by multiple staff, but they would not take the time to listen or address any of my questions. I understand there's a language barrier, but the staff made no effort to communicate with me whatsoever. A big part of the problem was that they literally had a different person working on my nails every few minutes that I had to try to reexplain what I needed to. (I wanted to know how thin the dip nails could be, because I'm not a fan of thick nails) So since I can't get my question about the dip answered, I tell them just to take off the set and I'll wear my natural nails with gel polish. A (once again) totally different male staff member comes and removes most of the old set, then proceeds to loudly insult my natural nails saying they're too thin and short and that I needed the dip, all while giggling with the tech next to him. I had one nail that had broken from the old set that was much shorter than the others. I asked if I could have that one done with the dip to match the others. I was told no, that they couldn't dip just one nail. (Why not??) I'm livid. I told him to please just remove the old set and that I wanted to leave. He laughed out loud, "there's no nails!" And then said something in another language to the nail tech next to him. They laugh. By this point I was so upset (and I'm an angry crier) so I knew it was time to leave. I asked him to please finish taking the acrylic off my nails so I could just pay and go and that I'd rather just go somewhere else at that point. He "finishes" taking off the old set and these photos are what he left me with. Acrylic still on my nails in thick sheets....sloppy! They actually did the impossible and made me feel less than human. I haven't had this bad of an experience at a nail salon in my lifetime, and I wouldn't be caught dead giving them another PENNY of my money. read more

Although there was a bit of a wait i really loved this place! My roommate and I stopped by to get pedicures as a post-graduation treat! The workers were very nice and gave us just what we wanted! It was a very relaxing experience even though we came in on an eventful day (a man in the back was screaming extremely loudly because his very drunk friend was paying him $1,000 to get waxed). This was clearly not the norm for the workers but they all found it funny as did all the customers who were gettin their nails done that day. I'm sure if we had come at literally any other time the wait wouldn't have been as long but even so I felt it was worth the wait! I would recommend this place to anyone! read more
