The food here is really delicious. Burgers taste like you took them off your backyard grill. Fries are also amazing, both the taste and the portion size. Price is what knocked the rating down a star for us. Two double burgers, two Cajun fries, and one drink cost over $38. The Cajun fries cost $3 more than the plain fries, and the only difference is the sprinkling on of some spices. Also, if you want lettuce and tomato on your burger you have to pay $1.50 extra. Lettuce and tomato should be standard on a hamburger. It would be like buying a car and having to pay extra for the turn signal. It is just wrong. Had we added those to our order, the bill would have been over $40. WAY too expensive! But the food is delish. On their website, Smashed Burger makes no mention that they only serve the very limited and frankly odd "Breakfast" items between 7-11am. Upon reading their website i definitely got the impression that these breakfast burritos were served in addition to their burgers. After all: this place is called, SMASHED BURGERS. But this is what i heard from him upon entering this unit and attempting to order a burger from this place named, Smashed Burger: NO BURGERS until 11am NO Fries until after 11am NO Diet Coke NO cut cheese fries This is a lot of NO's. A lot of NO's with very few coherent explanations though i thought maybe i understood that this uniti "could not" serve burgers until after 11am. And that in fact the computer would not allow an order for the above until that time. Since i was here i ordered a Bacon Breakfast Burrito on a flour tortilla with salsa and a diet coke. The Burrito is good, The tortilla fresh as well as the condiments. The salsa was especially savory and well seasoned. The diet coke was non-existent even though 2 people went looking for one behind the scenes. I left totally angry and frustrated as i wanted Smashed to be my 4ooth review. But this whole situation leaves a very bad taste in my mouth. Since the Great Grill could serve me a burger a few doors down and a few minutes later why couldn't Smashed? And if Smashed could only serve breakfast why were the food selections so limited? This kind of service and company policies must not bode well for the operation of this unit. It is perplexing. This place is amazing! We love that they are vegan friendly. One concern we did have was they use the same grill for vegan and non vegan. But she said they do keep it separate and on the opposite ends of the grill. Some would be ok with that and some wouldn't. We were ok. The food was great. Not only do they have burgers but they also carry a large selection of breakfast burritos and quesadillas. I tried the smash me double burger with bacon, lettuce and tomato, and it was absolutely juicy and delicious. The owner also greeted all the customers and constantly checked on guests. When it was pointed out to the staff they just stared at it and said nothing, not even an apology or an offer to replace the food. Solid burger and a hearty portion of fries. I work in the area, so I placed an order to go, and when I got back to my desk, everything was still piping hot. I kind of get wary about "house sauces", but this one isn't too bad. It's similar to a 1000 Island, but no pickle relish, and with a definite jump in the pepper added. The hamburger pattys are thin and "smashed", but even with that, there wasn't a lot of meat in general. I can't imagine getting a single burger and being satisfied with it. Overall, I would get the Double again. I had also opted for the cheesy fries, which, to be honest, I should have just gotten another burger. The fries are huge, almost like steak fries. However, the cheese on them congealed so quickly, that it was a brick, and fries were only able to break off in pieces. Even now, the fries are still warm, but the cheese is like glue. I actually had to think pretty hard how to rate this because I was pretty mixed on a number of things. We ordered from Grubhub. The GF and I both ordered Vegan Triples. I also got the fries. GF was middle of the road, leaning thumbs down on her's. She said she'd eat it again if she was hungry, but definitely wouldn't go out of her way to order again. But this was different and not bad as a change of pace. My one regret is I probably won't get to try to regular triple, which I am curious about.
