3 stars may seem low but I keep 5 stars for top tier restaurants that make food in house all fresh you get the jest. It's great for a fast food dine in wing place. Only problem I have is they don't have any hot wings! The habanero tastes good but is milder than a real jalapeño. Their hottest sauce is about the heat of a jalapeño lol. Drive thru is terrible, they need to take the que from Chick-fil-A and get their act together. I have pulled out of the drive thru like at least 3 times in the last month because no one has 30 min to wait in drive thru! Food is good usually but lack of initiative is disappointing! read more

This place is possibly Gods greatest gift to this world. Just the thought of Slim's sauce makes my mouth water and my stomach growl louder than a lion fighting a water Buffalo. Horrible service! Waited an hour and 7 minutes in the drive thru just to be pulled up when I got to the window because my order wasn't made yet. In town for the weekend visiting family. I wanted to come check this place out because I heard it was good. I ordered the 6 piece Spicy BBQ wings. Got back to the hotel and three out of my six piece was not done. When you make larger portions of chicken. You have to make sure it's well done or else it'll be pink and uncooked. This is our go-to for dinners before the movies. It's something about those chicken wings and chicken tenders dipped in sauces with those French fries dipped in their honey mustard. It always draws us back every other week, give or take. The location is very convenient to the mall and movie theatre. It's even close to the interstate. Their prices are fairly decent and I would even say they go head-to-head with even Zaxby's. We've tried their chicken sandwich and their salad as well. Both items were good. My husband enjoys their fresh lemonade. We we really enjoy the outside dining. The seats outside are stiff but they at least have two large screen TVs to help. The ambiance is very family friendly. Students and teachers have Tuesdays where they get discounts. The restrooms are well kept up with, although the women's bathroom door is heavy for some reason. We love being greeted as soon as we walk in. The staff delivers your food at your table. You get hand wipes as well. They'll even pack your food in to-go boxes. We haven't use the drive-thru because we always dine it. This place is always fresh: food & people. read more

It is sad to say but I don't want to say it but I have to. I was excited when I saw this place building up. Now that it is open, I went and ordered a 5 tenders x 5 wings plate. I was really hungry that day. Went home, and took a bite of the tenders. It was at this moment, that I realized, that there is no taste, no seasoning, no nothing to this chicken. All they did was roll it in some regular flour. It was really bland. Hot!! But bland!!! The wings are normal wings that they tossed in whatever sauce you choose. Nothing spectacular. I was really looking forward to some off the wall type chicken like stuffed jambalaya chicken wings or or macaroni stuffed tenders.. Something different. With this being said, I will just head to Zaxby's. This restaurant is like that but there is no flavor or love in the ingredients or recipe. Maybe I will go there and just order the desserts. I went to Slim Chickens expecting new, unique flavour and great, juicy chicken. Happy to be there, I ordered a chicken basket with fries and a coke. Slim Chickens should be renamed Slim Pickens. The chicken was indeed slim, about the size of my thumb twice over. For $7, I could have gone to the Christiana Cheesesteak factory or any food place and gotten twice the chicken. Neither me or my grandfather will be coming back. The fries were very average. The chicken didn't taste unique or interesting at all. The honey mustard was a bit more tangy than most places, which was the only interesting thing about slim chickens. The people in the drive-through could NOT hear us. We had to yell to make our order and they also got it incorrect THREE times when our order was very simple. Overall, a sad experience. I would have rather they had set up another Chick-a-fila, it would have helped cut down the line at the other Chick-a-fila. read more

I think this place is overpriced for what they actually give you. It's basically a glorified fast food restaurant. I had to sit in the drive through for like 20 minutes, and they have signs up telling you to be patient because they cook every order fresh. Well, if you are going to have a drive thru, figure out how to make yourselves more efficient. Every time I have gotten food from here, it has come out soggy. It's not that it tastes bad, there just isn't anything particularly special about it. I will say that they have a nice variety of sauces and their fried pickles are good. But I would recommend just driving a couple more minutes and going to Chik-Fil-A. Their line will be three times as long, but go by three times faster. read more

Chicken joint comparable to Zaxby's. I was very pleased with my meal. I got the chicken BBQ wrap, and took the $1.99 upcharge for the side of fried mushrooms. Needless to say, it was really good for what this place is. Just based on the food, I would have only gave it 4 stars. It wasn't mindblowing good, and theres plenty of other places like it. However, I gave them a 5 because of the great staff. The cashier was extremely friendly, and when I finished my meal one of the staff members came and picked my food up for me. Slim Chicken's is like Zaxby's on steroids. You can't help but compare the two but Slim's has more to offer. For starters, a broader menu (wings, chicken and waffles, fried pickles, pie...). Prices are maybe just a smidgen higher (a basket of four small chicken tenders, fries, a piece of toast, and two sauces was around $9.99) but you get a little more of that dine-in, restaurant-ish type feel versus the competitor. The atmosphere is super casual. You order your food, take a number and your food will be brought to you. Food comes in paper baskets and sauces in plastic ramkins. The drink station has soda, water, and a few different flavors of tea. There are big screen TVs mounted on the walls. There is an outdoor seating area as well. The restaurant was super clean. LOTS of tasty sauces to choose from. They sort of steal the limelight. My personal favorite was the mango habanero. Surprisingly plain ole ranch was good too, especially with the fried pickles. Most of the employees were younger, either high school or college age. A couple of the younger ones were a little immature and you could tell they were sort of "new" to the job (like teasing one another to the point it interrupted ordering), but no one was actually rude to us. So, After the business started up I saw the new restaurant rush happen at this place and I was also interested! Nice roomy place and also has a nice patio to eat out on while you check out the X-games on TV. Place was clean To the real deal THE FOOD! It was ok. I thought it was going to be better than what I got but thats why we go try the newbies in town, right? 3-stars from me. I have tasted way better but they did have good prices. I was very interested in trying this new place because I like food and I like trying new foods around town. The inside was crowded so I decided to try the drive thru the way in the drive thru was absolutely horrendous I was in the drive thru line for about 30 - 40 minutes, I ordered the chicken and waffles and a side of fried pickles the waffles were very plain and the chicken tenders we're very small the tenders also we're barely breaded and they tasted like they had no seasoning, I think I've actually had playing chicken breast that taste it better, I definitely would not recommend this place based on my first experience I love food and have tried most of the restaurants in Murfreesboro during my ten plus years here there are better restaurants in town with better prices and higher quality food, this place was a major disappointment read more

I had the Cayenne Ranch Chicken Sandwich and it was hands down the BEST chicken sandwich I've ever had in my entire life. I'm a huge chick fil a fan and this definitely takes the cake. The restaurant is really clean and fresh looking. The sweet tea is delicious and everyone is super nice! I was driving by here with my dad and we decided to turn the car around and come in on a whim, and I'm so glad we did! I love nashville hot chicken and this sandwich was everything I could've asked for in a sandwich and more! It wasn't too spicy, it was seasoned perfectly, and the portion was generous but not overwhelming. I will definitely be coming back and will tell everyone I know in Murfreesboro to come here too! Slim Chickens is a small chain restaurant with fewer than 100 stores. They are biggest in Texas, Arkansas and Oklahoma. They are expanding into many other states. The restaurant in Murfreesboro is the only Tennessee location. They are new to TN as well. This review is based on two visits. On the first visit, I tried their wings and was satisfied. On this visit, I tried the chicken and waffle. I will admit that I am a Yankee and am still getting familiar with this dish. I've had Nashville Hot Chicken Sliders at the Ryman. I've also had it at a soul food restaurant and at another competitor. So, I don't know they are SUPPOSED to be prepared, but I liked this dish here. Three chicken tenders were served on a large Belgian style waffle. They did look a little lonely. A fourth tender would have made the dish look more balanced. The tenders were cooked to perfection - crisp on the outside and wonderfully moist inside. The waffle was nice and hot with a nice crust and tender interior. The butter they served with it was too cold and did not really melt. Mrs. Buttersworth is their syrup of choice. I really did not know how to eat this dish, but had fun trying to get a forkful with buttered and syruped waffle with the chicken. The staff was friendly, polite and enthused about their work, and the dining area was clean. read more

I am rating my experience from the drive thru point of view. I definitely want to go inside the restaurant during our next visit. I would agree it's similar to Zaxby's. I like the look of the restaurant, it doesn't look like a fast food place from the outside. We waited about 20 minutes in the drive thru line to get our food which isn't terrible since they cook to order and there were several cars in front of us. They have 2 drive through lines but they aren't set up perfectly because it's easy for the car orders to get mixed up as the two lines merge into one. We wanted to try a few things on the menu so my husband and I split the 7 piece fried chicken tender meal with fries. The tenders are lightly battered and the fries are straight cut thick fries. I thought both tasted decent. We tried the slims sauce and chipotle ranch. The slims sauce reminded me of a really sweet & tangy thousand island...not a big fan of it so I won't be ordering that sauce again. The ranch was good. We also wanted to try the fried pickles which would have been so much better if they drained the grease off of them! The few that were on top were crunchy and yummy, but the ones on the bottom were soggy with grease. They came with regular ranch dip. To finish off the meal we had the mason jar dessert. The flavor changes day to day and comes in a glass mason jar you get to keep! We had strawberry cheesecake. It was light and refreshing with fresh strawberries. It was big enough to split, but if you're a big dessert lover it wasn't too big for one person to eat :-) We will definitely try Slim Chickens again, but maybe wait until the newness wears off. If you're debating on whether or not to try Skim Chickens, go ahead and give it a chance. It's not as bad as some of the reviews made it out to be. read more

The food is bland has no flavor or either it's overcooked, the portion size for the price is overpriced. Management is lazy and overlooks safety for customer, water was spilled in the floor and he walked right by it multiple times and never sat a sign out until I approached him with the matter, also we went to get refills on our drink and they took off the nozzle early before they were officially closed so me and my wife got sprayed. It was horrible experience would no recommend this place to anyone. Save your money drive a little further to Zakby's or chickfla or something worth the quality. This was or second time to slim chicken and had horrible experiences both time. We are not typically the ones to complain but man this place is bad... The sad part about the drink machine lots of customers were sprayed and even an employee and nothing was said or done until I asked the manager who was the manager on duty and he was ashamed to answer. Thisssssss!!! I was in town for business and saw this place one night. I made it my mission to try them as soon as I got the chance and I was not disappointed! The chicken is crispy and juicy and so good, fries, fried okra, everything was amazing! I'm tempted to go back later to try the chicken and waffle lol. And the staff gave true southern hospitality. The lady at the counter helped me with my order and made sure I was satisfied from the time I walked in the door until I left. We ordered the 12-piece tender family meal which is a really good value: a whole meal for $24 including a gallon of tea. The sweet tea, by the way, is delicious. The meal comes with A LOT of sauce!! We particularly liked gravy, honey bbq & garlic parm. - be sure to ask for cups, plates and forks if you are in a hotel. Ordered from here yesterday and it was fast and delicious. I had the 3 tenders with toast and fries and a drink. All for less than $8! What a bargain in my opinion. Will definitely be trying them again. Wanted a milkshake but knew my waistline didn't need one. May have to try one as a splurge on my next visit. read more
