Date of Visit: July 1, 2026 After driving all day the previous day we were wanting a real good county breakfast. My wife told me she had just the place in mind and I've been there before too (City Cafe). But when we arrived we saw they were permanently closed, dang. I could taste it. Then the wife recommended Puckett's and they are just around the the corner, a short walk. As we walked up on the place I noticed the marque, retro. The inside was bit as well. We were quickly seated and drink orders taken. This was a weekday morning visit so not too busy. Looking over the menu, I may not have looked close enough, I decided on the "Build your own Omelette". Onions, tomatoes and pepper jack cheese. The wife ordered the B&G. I noticed I wasn't asked about my side? I wounded potatoes. Also rye bread with my omelette, hmmm. Our food arrived, all looked good. I saw my order came with what looked like frozen type of potatoes, perfect squares. I was expecting something home cooked, fried potatoes with burnt edges. Flavor. The wife's B&G looked great, two basques and potatoes as well. The omelette was good, plenty of everything and filled. The wife said here B&G was really good and she's a B&G expert. Over all, all was good just disappointed with the potatoes option and no rye toast. Perhaps they could consider fresh cut potatoes along with the frozen type. Also maybe offer some type of toast. We stopped in for Breakfast, but we were too late. Breakfast ends at 11 AM. So we just decided to eat dessert first and that proves to be a good decision. The peach cobbler was very very good. I would get that again or the recipe so I can make it myself. I'm not fond of banana pudding so I dont know about that. The service was slow. It took way too long to get served a very easy dessert. Of all the Puckett's the food at this one seems to be better than the others. The crispy chicken sandwich is my favorite. It's hearty and so crispy it's rather heavenly on a bun. This is a cute restaurant in the heart of the square in Murfreesboro. We came in and were greeted and seated quickly. While we had a good server, we were on a time crunch and we lost our server a few times. I ordered the Nashville cheesesteak with sweet potato fries and my husband ordered the redneck burrito. Our dishes arrived with the fry options swapped, which is ok, but shows there was not attention to detail. The cheesesteak was so big that I couldn't pick it up to eat like a sandwich, so I ate it in pieces with a fork and tore up the bread. My husband's burrito had good flavor and had lots of meat! When we were done with our food, we couldn't find our server for a while and we had to get back to MTU for a marching band competition, so that was frustrating! And because we had to wait, we couldn't get any dessert. So, overall, a good place, but not sure we'd go back. read more

Was very surprised when we got there. There wasn't a wait for seating, get seated promptly took our server about 5 to 10 minutes to finally come over to take our drink order. It was only 5 to 10 minutes before the drinks came over not too bad. My wife ordered chicken fried chicken, and I had the Cajun catfish with coleslaw and fries. Both were good. The catfish was extremely tender and moist. It was cooked perfectly the jalapeño cornbread that came along with. It was also very good. The restaurant shop was a very well lit very clean. My daughter and I went here for lunch a few weeks ago, in between classes. Conveniently a few minutes from school-Puckett's maintains its down home feel with good old fashioned hospitality and comfort food. I couldn't resist ordering the chicken fried chicken, mashed potatoes with green beans. While it wasn't spectacular it was good enough to order again. read more

This place was very slow when we went in which we thought would mean better food! More time to prep and deliver a solid meal?! Right? Right?!?! Wrong. The cheese bites were okay. The brisket Cheesesteak sandwich could not have been worse. This brisket. Man I'm telling you, THIS BRISKET had to have been cooked until it mixed in with the color of the charcoal they were cooking it on and then when they took it out they had to have taken a blow torch to it. Where do I start!!! Friday night (6/19/26) arrival in Murfreesboro lead us to Pucketts! The aroma of BBQ was in the air! So thats what I ordered!! I got the Pucketts Nachos and my friend got the Redneck Burrito!! I didn't even need the sauce for my BBQ it was so moist NOT dry! My friend waved about the BBQ stuffed burrit!! My other friends ordered the MoHo pasta and Nashville Cheesesteak! Everyone was well pleased! the portions were enough for Togo plates for a midnight snack! but the Cherry cobbler took the grand prize!! oh my!!! Wish they could bottle that up!!! Always have been a fan of the decor of Puckett's. The service was top tier and never had to ask for refills, and she actually had a few tables, which is superb service. Now to the food. The only thing that was decent was the Mac and Cheese and that was sub par. None of the food was seasoned and the roast was swimming in butter/oil. To start the service was underwhelming. I waited by the door for close to five minutes before I was seated. They went that busy...the teens were just hanging out and not paying attention. Minus one star. The atmosphere was awesome--it is a great place. The smell is as you would expect--like BBQ. The menu was a little disappointing, but I knew that coming in. I was disappointed that so many things ended at 3pm. The sweet tea is a 3.5/5. The refill is 1/5 because it wasn't sweet. My food was good! They have sauce on the table, and that is worth a bonus. No napkins on the table is a small drawback--ask for extra. The beef had too much fat, and the pork was just right. It was all good. The sweet potato fries are interesting, but not my thing. I ordered the Cinnamon Roll Bread Pudding for dessert. It was the best thing about my meal. The sweetest of sweet tea would taste unsweetened after eating the dessert. I could only eat half of it, but it was really good. Service was the biggest drawback. Would I come back here? Maybe, if it wasn't a Sunday afternoon. Hadn't been to Puckett's in a few years and the last time I went the food was great. Tonight though the food was incredibly subpar considering how much I spent. This was a birthday trip for me and had my wife and daughter there as well. The restaurant was dead for a Wednesday evening. Started with the fried green beans which were way too salty and the ranch was kind of grainy. I ordered the Southern Fried Chicken, red beans and rice, and a salad with ranch. My salad didn't come out until the rest of my meal did so the table was pretty full. The salad greens were warm and the ranch was grainy again. The chicken was way overdone and dry and the coating tasted like it was on the brink of being burnt. The red beans and rice was lukewarm and incredibly bland and flavorless. Overall incredibly disappointing. My wife had the cheesesteak and sweet potato fries. The sandwich was delivered with regular fries and we asked if she could still get the sweet potato fries. The sweet potato fries that were delivered were burnt...not almost burnt...BURNT! This was an incredibly disappointing visit to a place I usually had a great experience at. Not sure what has happened to this place but you should always get great quality food no matter what night you come in. Our server was really good and nice but I really doubt we'll ever come back. We had out of town company so this is a stop on the Murfreesboro tour. We were seated promptly and drinks were ordered. I had the bologna sandwich which had good flavor. I would have preferred a little more char but if you don't ask you don't get. I enjoyed it. My wife had her go to slider plate with one of each and my daughter had a plain burger. This is my favorite Puckett's location because service has always been quick and food has been consistent. Helps that they attract some great performers (s/o to Cole Ritter & The Nighthawks). If you're looking for satisfying Southern food, Puckett's won't let you down. Prices are a little high but I feel like they're typical for Middle TN. Parking can be hard to find during peak hours, but there are a decent amount of spaces. read more

They used to have the best barbecue ribs. Then, they started serving the ribs overcooked and basically burnt. The only bad experience that we had with one of the servers was a young woman who was too busy talking at the table where her professor and his family sat. People in Franklin happily wait an hour to get into Puckett's so we actually made reservations. When we arrived, we could hear crickets; this place didn't have a half dozen diners? We both ordered pulled pork and the stuff was bland, dry, stringy and cold... so we surmised it was old. It tasted like it had been defrosted but one of the staff told me it had "come off the smoker this morning". We did smell delicious BBQ but wherever that was, it was not on our plate. I ordered red beans, mac-n-cheese and fried okra. I've had Puckett's mac-n-cheese before and my recollection is that it had real cheese on top. This mac-n-cheese tasted like it was made with cream cheese? The only thing hot on the plate was the okra. It was so bad that we punted and asked for new entrées. They were nice enough to accommodate us. I ordered pot roast and my sister ordered chicken & dumplings. My pot roast had one single 1/2" piece of meat. No, this is not a typo. One half inch piece. It was a big skillet of thickened beef broth dotted w potatoes, carrots, celery and a half dozen banana peppers. All of that was served over a bed of rice? Someone explained this was "Mississippi Mud" but I was left thinking "where's the beef"? I wish the placard on the wall had said, "Mississippi Mud" instead of pot roast bc this dish wasn't even a distant cousin of pot roast. How can you make pot roast without the roast? It was ludicrous. My sister's dumplings were not cooked through. We lied when they asked us about our 2nd meal bc complaining again seemed impolite and pointless. We suddenly understood why there was no one there. Something is VERY wrong in that kitchen. If you arrive with expectations that this restaurant is anything like the one in Franklin, you will be deeply disappointed, I'm sorry to say. I don't know how this place stays open? They've got to be losing money? We tipped our waitress well bc we thought we were kind-of high maintenance. I'd like to reiterate that the staff was lovely but I left the restaurant thinking, "That's an hour of my life I'll never get back." read more

Not sure why that would happen, but our server let us know that wait times were a little slow, but the manager was cooking everything to specifications. As much as I do Love Pucketts in Franklin I am extremely disappointed in this location! The service was extremely slow as we had to wait 30-45minutes after ordering for our food to get to the table. And when it finally did get to the table is looked and tasted like it was a rushed order like they had forgotten about our tables food. The food was not very good and came out a little cold. The ambiance/atmosphere was very relaxed but even with a slow morning service the servers seemed to be overwhelmed and pacing around of being lazy. I would not recommend coming to the location. My family and I found Puckett's from reading other reviews as we were passing through Tennessee on a long road trip around dinner time . It has a very casual, almost hole in the wall feel, with eclectic decorations all over and a stage along the right wall. Our server was good, he had a lot of personality and helped me pick out what I would eat as we'd never been there before. For my meal I had the smoked meatloaf which was pretty darn good comfort food and really hit the spot. The meatloaf was nice thick and the beef gravy was great on the dish. My wife and I shared some of the skillet Mac and cheese and I liked it more than a lot of other Mac's I've had around the country. I was very happy when we stopped in as we were there right before a group was going to play some music, so we lingered a little after finishing our meals to hear a few songs and really enjoyed it. I love a place with live music. I wish we'd had room for dessert as there is an ice cream place attached and it had some really interesting flavors, maybe next time we'll make sure we save room for something cold and sweet. We went for lunch on Saturday. I have been to the Franklin location also, and I would recomend this place to eat. Good solid tasting food. They were bringing out breakfast as we were ordering our food and it looked good. The ambiance is good. There was a stage so I think they have live music for dinner. Being from California, I had a foodie checklist which included fried pickles and Tennessee BBQ. Puckett's didn't disappoint. This is the first time I ate fried pickles and let's just say, I'm in LOVE. The pickles weren't too thin or thick and not heavily battered. I would have gladly eaten the entire basket of fried pickles. We also ordered the Whole Farm. The beef brisket was the star of this platter of yummy goodness. It was seasoned perfectly and amazingly moist. Again, another thing I would have gladly eaten all by myself. My friends, who had eaten the Southern Fried Chicken at Puckett's before, spoke highly of it so ... of course, we had to order it. My friends weren't wrong. This is a MUST order and should be ordered when you order your drinks. The chicken was so juicy that I forgot it was fried. My apologies, Yelp fam, for no photo of the Southern Fried Chicken.
