A beautiful day for a drive so I picked The Fried Tater Café for a visit. Housed in the old Versailles/Rockvale Store (built in 1884) and had been empty for the past 40 years, they did a great job renovating. Sat down and Megan brought me a menu while sharing some of the "must haves" here. I ordered the Philly Sirloin steak sandwich (this is not a Philly cheesesteak for all you purists out there) and the Tater Tornado as an appetizer. The Tater Tornado gives you the best of both worlds...potato chips and french fries and they are really good. I sprinkled a little salt on em, dipped in ranch dressing, they are addicting!!! This steak sandwich is solid! The steak had some nice grill char, great flavor, and is very tender. The veggies caramelized while the smoked gouda cheese is a really nice touch. Even the "side" of cole slaw was very good, fresh, and crunchy. While I was eating Megan brought some fried pies to a table and they smelled incredible. So I ordered a blueberry one to go and suffered in my SUV the whole way home smelling it. These pies alone are worth the drive out here...absolutely delicious! Without a doubt the best homemade blueberry fried pie I've ever enjoyed. Really great food, nice serene country setting, and friendly service. Well worth the drive out to Rockvale!!! read more

I have been here twice now -- I had to try both their breakfast and lunch/dinner menu to weigh in properly . They are truly a cozy hole-in-the-wall that serves up tasty country cooking! Their fries (big surprise) and fried chicken are probably my favorite bites that I've tried so far, and portion sizes were generous! For a little place, they've got a menu with a good range of options, and their staff have been very warm, friendly and helpful! This is a little gem in the middle of no where, and packed on the day I visited. Great wings and the spiral tater was very tasty too. Pretty fast service with a country ambiance. No seating inside, fear not, there are picnic tables outside. Give them a try if you are in Rockvale. read more

Historic building that I originally found on Yelp. Home cooked selections for lunch and dinner and breakfast on the weekend. They keep their Facebook updated so you know what the daily specials are before coming. Pretty much everything I have tried was good. Did breakfast for the first time today and sausage gravy was excellent and I am a gravy snob it passes the test. Usually not too busy and can walk in and get a table. I live in Franklin and met a group of 15 friends here for a birthday celebration. It was an adventure just finding this place! As soon as I pulled up, I knew it would be an experience! My wife and I went for lunch on a Saturday morning. There was about a 20 minute wait, but it was totally worth it! I had a hamburger and fries. The patty was huge (actually hung over the bun) and was perfectly cooked. My wife had the Philly cheese steak sandwich (the best she has eaten) and fried okra. We both enjoyed the meal and will definitely make the drive (1 hr. and 25 min.) again. Be prepared to wait if you go on a Saturday morning (old store building), but I don't think you will regret it. Don't run here, SPRINT! A true gem tucked away. If you see this and you think ahh this place is too far, shut up and go. The food is delicious and is truly a place you'd find on Diners, Drive Ins and Dives. The Fired Okra is easily the best I've ever had, don't tell my mother-in-law. Ok, so this place is located in a small country store. It is the proverbial hole in the wall. The atmosphere is quaint and fun. The service was great and the food was very good. I had the special which was the smoked bologna burger. My wife had a hamburger. The burgers were smash burgers and had crispy edges. Delicious! The fries were crunch and delicious. Very cool place that sits in the middle of nowhere but not far from Murfreesboro. It's an old grocery store and you feel transported back in time. Staff were friendly and food came quick. We both had burgers that had the perfect char on the outside and juicy inside. Fries were also crispy outside and soft inside. Tea was fresh and we will definitely come back and try more. We stop by on a Sunday about 1am... my wife went in to order & get the food .. they told us it would be about 45 minutes, but we expected that due to it being after church services...it was about 1 hour & 10 minutes,... but I tell you, I got the Philly cheesesteak & the wife got the regular hamburger... that cheesesteak was so good it was worth the wait..I told my wife I could eat their cheesesteak 3 times a week it was so good...next time I think we will stop on off hours, so it's not so busy read more

Came here for the first time this past weekend. It was kind of slow because we got there about an hour before close. I can't for the life of me remember my server's name, but he had brown hair, young kid. Super sweet and helpful. There was another person there too, don't remember names too well, but short hair, wearing an apron, so most likely a cook. Also very nice, sat and talked to me a little while we were finishing up. Fried bologna was good. My bf's philly was delicious and tender. And they have corn nuggets. One of my faves! Star of the show: Tater sauce. I'm gonna make it at home now and put it on everything! Love this little place. The people are always so nice who work there and try their best to make your experience a good one.
