a menu for a sandwich lunch

Stopped in thinking this little diner would have some good home cook breakfast. Unfortunately, this diner had missed the mark. Their was a very unfriendly vibe, sorta like one of those old horror movies where your car breaks down on a backroad and you need to find help an all everyone does is stare at you.. The service was definitely not served with a smile and food well if your hungry and in a jam it will do. The biscuits didn't appear to be fresh which was a total disappointment. But I should of known by the cheap no name ketchup that they had. Oh the sweet tea is good.

The front. But try the side door first.

We pulled up to Country Diner for lunch after messing around in Henry Horton Park. It took a bit of time to figure out which door to go in. There wasn't any signage. I thought the side door, but the grandkids said, "No Grandpa, we have to go in this door," and so we did. Of course, that door opened to the back of the restaurant, even though it was on the front part of the building. As we made our way to the counter, (which, by the way, was right by the side door) I saw all the locals stare at us out of towners. Rookies. We found a table in a room adjacent to the main dining room. We shared it with at least 3 freezers, which was a topic of discussion between the kids. Perfect for a you know what, I heard one of them say. Too much Dateline, I said. We all had a laugh. Our server was attentive and brought out the order of burgers and sandwiches in a timely manner. The food tasted great, and the prices were fair. Our favorite were the onion rings. Real onion rings. Not like the crummy ones you get at the fast food joints. The kids would have been OK with fast food, but I wanted to get them out of the norm and give them an adventure. And what a family adventure it was. Pass up the Sonic and Subway and pull up a chair at the Diner. You'll have fun for sure. Quick Tip: Keep an eye on the time. The Country Diner is closed from 2pm until 4pm. So, if you have a slow eating grandson, you may want to start your lunch at like 11am. With that, you may have a shot of finishing before you get dirty looks from the staff.

Here's my quick and honest advice: If you're a local, try this place out and consider becoming a regular. If you are from out of town, don't worry about stopping by. From the moment I walked in, I felt out of place. I'm a huge people person, and I love meeting people. What I do not love, however, is being stared at by everyone in the restaurant from the moment I walk in to the moment I sit down. I have never felt more unwelcome. I wondered if I had something major on my face! The waiter was kind and helpful, but it really didn't seem like he wanted to be there. The kind things he said sounded more rehearsed than meaningful (e.g. enjoy your meal, thanks for eating with us, etc.). The food was the redeeming quality. It was quite delicious and affordable! If it were only for the food, I would come back! If you live in the area, it's worth becoming a regular. The relationships and the delicious yet affordable food are worth the time you'll spend there. If you're an outsider, avoid the uncomfortable feeling you'll have and swiftly move along.

The food here is awesome, and the staff is very friendly. There is no better place to eat in Chapel Hill than the Country Diner.

I love the food, and it's affordable. I love that it's the same people that work there so it's like that you can get to know them.

Good food. Great value. Friendly staff. Very dated dining rooms, but that's not what I go to a small town meat & 3 for.

The pancakes are huge, with mashed bananas in the batter and a heap of candied walnuts on top. It literally CANNOT be any better. I probably have these pancakes 90% of the time I eat here, because I love them so much. I have had a number of their other breakfasts (All American Breakfast, Chicken fried steak, etc.) and they were great. I am just addicted to the Banana Bread Pancakes. My wife has had many of their other items, and she is always very happy with her selections. I just don't believe there is a bad selection on their entire menu. The owners (Gary and Lorraine (sp?) are extremely friendly, as are the rest of their staff. It is always an enjoyable experience eating there. All in all, this is a great place to go for breakfast or lunch. We probably would go there even more often, but sometimes we think about it too late in the day (they are only open until 2pm).

Steak had a nice crispy breading and the balance of breading to meat was perfect. Then the gravy was amazing. So tasty and so much!!!! Then the fries were so crunchy and seasoned perfect with their season salt. The coleslaw was nice a sweet tasting, kind of how KFC used to make their slaw but this was better!!! Washed it all down with freshly brewed sweet tea. This was exactly what I was craving and for sure I will be back to it this exact meal again!!!!

I love Mediterranean food, and this seemed to be my closest option. And I'm so happy that it was. My volcano plate (chicken and gyros with onions and peppers) was fantastic. The family that runs the place (I think they're a family) are also so kind and eager to please. So 5 stars for the service as well. Ramsey Grill doesn't look like much from the outside. It's unassuming and easy to miss. But make no mistake. The food is well worth the stop.

There are two buffet islands, one with main course and sides and some desert, the other with a salad bar and more desert options. There is also an ice cream machine that my wife swears tastes just like Chik-fil-a's. The food is almost all southern, and some of it got rotated out while we ate (the chicken and dumplings gave way to country fried steak and gravy). Fried Chicken, pulled pork, mashed potatoes, fried okra, corn, green beans, man n cheese -- the list goes on and on. By and large, the food was exceptional. The fried chicken was moist and the breading is flavorful, the mashed potatoes were good. Pulled pork was succulent and the BBQ sauce was great. The strawberry shortcake was delicious. Only downsides from my visit was that the corn bread was a tad dry and not sweat (that's a preference thing) and there was no gravy for the mashed potatoes. That being said the yeast rolls are great. The chicken fried steak got rotated in with some pepper gravy (a bit watery) but these were the only nitpicks I found with my visit. Overall the best southern food and best buffet near Huntsville. My waitress ('Granny') was hustling, she made sure the plates were cleared and the drinks stayed full. Everyone seemed to know her and she was able to be friendly with the locals while taking care of business. All of the employees I saw were busy, wiping down the buffet lines, bringing in heaps of food and just making it a great experience. The value was phenomenal -- $12.50 for adults and $7 for kids. I wish they served Coke products and lived next door then they'd be perfect. If you're reading about this place and you live in Hunstville, its worth the drive. If you're a local, its probably a staple and you already know. 5 stars, would recommend. Thanks!
