My family and I were all beyond satisfied with what we experienced during this visit to Southern Tré. Here'a what stood out during our dining experience: * Our shared Shrimp appetizer was super tasty. * My 6oz sirloin was cooked to a medium, mouthwatering perfection and tenderness. * My father and I both enjoyed the blackBerry mixed beverage. (The name escapes me now but I recommend asking about it) * The southern decor and lighting made for an enjoyable and relaxing ambience. * Our waitress was pleasant, on top of things, and treated our toddler well. * The pricing was surprisingly fair for the quality of meal we received. * Our family mentioned several times (during and after) how great the seasonings and flavors were and how much our expectations were exceeded. In short: If you're near downtown and would like a nice sit down meal or a solid spot for a special occasion; instead of driving to Spring Hill for one of the chain steakhouses, I highly recommend you instead give Southern Tré a shot.

It has a very rustic and comfortable atmosphere. We ordered the Salmon Orleans with asparagus, marinated chicken breast with mashed and a salad, Cesar side salad and shrimp and a Tennessee Cheese steak. Salads came out, ample dressing and toppings. Meals came out and all of them were delicious. The only thing was that the asparagus was large stemmed and it was a little tough. Other than that the meals were excellent. My wife decided that she wanted the key lime pie for dessert so I got the Tennessee cheesecake with strawberries. Both desserts were delicious! We will absolutely be back.

There are restaurants designed by consultants. Someone studies demographics, invents a "concept,"…read morehangs a few Edison bulbs from the ceiling and charges you eighteen dollars for something your grandmother made better. Fried Tater Cafe is not that place. This is the kind of restaurant you hope to stumble across somewhere outside of town. An old building, a little history, straightforward Southern food and people who seem considerably more concerned with whether you ate enough than whether their plates are Instagram-ready. And then there are the fried taters. Crispy, salty, unapologetically fried potatoes--the sort of food that reminds you mankind occasionally gets things exactly right. Nobody needed to deconstruct them. Nobody needed to drizzle truffle oil over them. They needed hot grease, seasoning and somebody in the kitchen who knows when to pull them out. The rest of the food follows the same philosophy: familiar, filling and comforting. This isn't a place trying to reinvent Southern cooking. Thank God. It's trying to feed you. The old building and its history make the whole thing even better. You sit there eating fried potatoes and realize people have been passing through this little corner of Tennessee for generations. Places like this increasingly disappear, replaced by chains and developments that could be anywhere in America. Fried Tater Cafe still feels like somewhere. Come hungry. Order the taters. Don't count calories. You'll survive. Five stars.

Date of Visit: July 2, 2026…read more On this afternoon my wife wanted to take me on a country drive after an overwhelming day in Murfreesboro the day before. Murfreesboro used be an easy navigable town, not no more, so many people. So off we went. Heading out towards Chapel Hill we came up the Fried Tater Cafe. After yesterday (if your following) I needed something authentic to the area and this looked the part. We both agreed to stop. Walked inside and I knew right away this going to be great. We were greeted and told to sit anywhere. Nice. Found a booth against the wall and were given menus and drink orders taken. Drinks came while still viewing the menu. I almost wanted a burger but chose the patty melt with coleslaw. I was going to have fries but they have those Checkers type fries. My wife had the BLT with Tots and after having a couple of her tots I should of had the tots. My wife even agrees, these are the best tots she has ever had and she has tots when ever offered. These had the crispy outside that you can bite into without crushing and fluffy innerds mmmmm. But getting back to my patty melt. The menu said it came with thousand island dressing. I would usually hold the TI, but now I'm in a phase where I order with no substitutions. So I took it with the Thousand island. And so glad I did, it did something to it. Don't know if everyone does this but wow. And the slaw was good too, though I wish I had gotten the tots, next time tots. The wife and I will be back here next time in town for sure, if just for the drive. Peace.

The queso was great with just enough kick but the chips were cold and seemed stale. Which isn't a surprise with the crazy humidity lately but it's something that ought to be checked and addressed when needed. The Taproom burger was tasty and made with very fresh ingredients. The pretzel roll and all the toppings made the burger a challenge to get a bite, messy in a good way. The bistro burger was great and I had half of my partner's for lunch the next day. It was great as a leftover. I ordered my fries crispy, but the kitchen didn't get the memo, again. The booth was very comfortable and the room was delightfully cool but not cold. It was quiet enough for conversation but not so quiet that you're afraid to break the silence. Tips: Check their app - "hops for pops" scored a free draft pint on fathers day. Expect some great burgers.

The pancakes are huge, with mashed bananas in the batter and a heap of candied walnuts on top. It literally CANNOT be any better. I probably have these pancakes 90% of the time I eat here, because I love them so much. I have had a number of their other breakfasts (All American Breakfast, Chicken fried steak, etc.) and they were great. I am just addicted to the Banana Bread Pancakes. My wife has had many of their other items, and she is always very happy with her selections. I just don't believe there is a bad selection on their entire menu. The owners (Gary and Lorraine (sp?) are extremely friendly, as are the rest of their staff. It is always an enjoyable experience eating there. All in all, this is a great place to go for breakfast or lunch. We probably would go there even more often, but sometimes we think about it too late in the day (they are only open until 2pm).
