It's a 9 hole course but uses two sets of tee boxes to allow for an 18 hole experience. It's not a flat course and the greens have a fair amount of undulation. Several holes have stunning back drops of the surrounding mountain and valleys. They do have one problem, they have not trained the deer to rake the fairway bunkers yet but they said they'd work on that.

Great pro shop and grill. The golf course is as challenging as you want to make it. There are tee boxes from professional, member, senior, super senior,ladies and senior lady. There are Bermuda fairways and Bent grass greens. The ball can easily be played as it lies and the greens are large and putt true. There is plenty of sand, water and trees. I think it is the best value in middle TN and worth a 50-75 mile drive.

It's very remote, but worth the drive. The restaurant is built and decorated in a lodge style. We had a table directly in front of the fireplace. Our server was excellent. She knew the menu well, memorized everyone's order, and checked on us continually throughout the meal. They had a very good (and pricey) wine list. I had a Riesling, but it was ordered for us, so I don't know the specifics. The menu is a bit limited. I started with a Hal Caesar salad. It was just the right amount of salad and dressing, and was very good. For dinner, I wanted the scallops, but not with caviar that it comes with. I would have liked the trout, but it's not Rainbow or other white flaky varieties. It's Steelhead, which pink and dense like salmon, so I settled on the paradelle with wild boar ragu. It was tasty in a brown, but spicy, sauce. The meat was tender, and the noodles were excellent. They tasted homemade. We finished by sharing their desserts. I particularly enjoyed the cheesecake.

Here's what we like: the green fees are fairly decent, and the replay rate is only $10. The restaurant is outstanding and I always order the grilled chicken salad with blue cheese dressing. The dressing is homemade and is incredible. The staff at the pro shop and restaurant are very professional. Very courteous. The not so good side: The golf course is in terrible shape. I sense that they are trying to make improvements but it's really rough right now. The layout is fun and a decent challenge but it's hard to find a good lie anywhere. The bunkers are hard packed. The fairways don't drain well. I'm hoping things turn out better over the spring and summer. Their weekend rate begins on Friday morning. I've been working for 40 years and my boss has always said that the weekend begins Friday night. $44 for the round, cart included. So, overall the rate is good when you add in the replay for $10. Some advice, don't call it a weekend rate, call it your Friday - Sunday Rate.

The teetime reservation system is the worst I've ever seen. It is online only and open only a couple times per year. The customer service is even worse than that! I made a $40 reservation on a teetime for a week ago when it was raining, so I called the clubhouse to see about a rain check. I called four times and never got a hold of anyone in the pro shop, and never received a callback from anyone either. I emailed the pro shop as well and again had no response to my email either. So, I'm out $40 now and never even got to change my teetime. I will say it is very disappointing to have this type of customer service from any business. We will not be going back. Patriot is my favorite of the 2, and again, as enjoyable as I remembered. The greens were in better shape on this course, though the fairways are à course superintendent's nightmare as it is one big anthill. I have to imagine the maintenance bills are pretty high, but the fairways need some love. Lastly, I appreciated the staff at Redstone. This owner claims he helps the needy but what I see he plainly tells the needy he doesn't care and then band them where they can't get food. I( I have had times I was able to be a paying customer to play the games ) he plainly stated I don't care if you don't care you shouldn't be putting food in a blessing box and claiming you help the needy.
