The very quiet dining room allows conversation at a reasonable volume and the lighting is low with a lamp on the table to read the menu without shining your cellphone flashlight in everyone's eyes. We went for Valentine's Day. It was okay. The crab soup was good. The new york strip was alittle more fatty and chewy than I preferred. The potatoes/ green beans left a little wanting and not extremely flavorful. The dark chocolate was mediocre. I found this gem by total mistake. It is a little hidden in the back (or side?) of the shopping center. It does not look like much from the outside but it's really nice and cozy. We were there celebrating our anniversary and they didn't disappoint. Everyone was very attentive from the moment we walked it. Our server gave us the best recommendations, they were all fantastic & delicious. They have a really good wine selection and the cocktails are made with love. We did the "date night" deal and it really saves you money other than they have several options to pick and gives you the ability to try several of their best plates. The FOOD WAS THE PHENOMENAL!!! Omg!! Perfectly cooked steak and flavored potatoes. The Pecan Pie was equally amazing. The service was second to none! Greetings at the door, while having the door opened! The ambiance was that of a modern restaurant in New York feel, but the service still having that great Southern Charm. Came out to Steakhouse 5 for a rare adults night without our kids. The atmosphere and ambiance are thoughtful. It's intimate and inviting. I will say that the giant TV hanging over our heads was NOT very high end Steakhouse feeling. Service was lackluster. Our waitress had a great personality and was friendly, but she messed up our wine order, and had to be reminded to refill our teas and waters each time. The sweet tea was bad. Very reminiscent of McDonald's tea. I've always believed that a restaurant can be adequately graded on its tea. If they can't get that right, nothing else matters. The steaks were great. Were they worth the price? Not in my opinion. The grilled broccolini was very acidic tasting, like it had been basted with vinegar. Not a hint, either. Very strong, and it was inedible. The Brussels sprouts were greasy and soggy, and the accompanying bacon was burnt. The cheesecake was missing the toppings when it arrived. The apple fried pie tasted of old oil, like they hadn't changed the fry oil in a while. No apple flavor. Just oil. All in all, we were very disappointed with the meal, especially when we paid so much for a nice dining experience. Steakhouse 5 needs to slow down a bit. We ordered the duck pastrami, Caesar salad, ribeye with Brussels & bacon and chimichurri sauce, and Kansas City strip with roasted garlic mashed potatoes and bacon marmalade butter. The duck pastrami was good. It was tender and not too fatty. Most importantly, it wasn't oily/greasy like how duck usually is. I enjoyed the app aside from the grain mustard it came with. It was potent like horseradish. The Caesar salad was fine. My boyfriend said he would have rather preferred the lettuce be chopped up. As for the ribeye and Kansas City strip, they were good and cooked perfectly. I just wish they had a little more seasoning. I needed to dip my strip in the bacon marmalade butter to enhance it, which was tasty by the way. The ribeye and chimichurri didn't really pair well together. Maybe should've gotten a different sauce for that one. The Brussels and bacon tasted good. The roasted garlic mashed potatoes were average. Overall, I've had better steak elsewhere. Very disappointing experience. Service: Made a reservation for my birthday and the experience was subpar for a higher end steakhouse. The reservation mentioned celebrating a special occasion (ie Birthday) and no one acknowledged or even asked if we were celebrating an occasion. Food: Ordered the Truffle Fries and were surprised they ever zested with lemon (a first for us - I very much dislike Lemon so wasn't a fan). They did make us new fries without the lemon and they was good. When it came to the main course, I ordered a 16 oz. ribeye and was disappointed by the amount of fat on the steak (seen in photo). One of their high priced items and the fat contained almost 1/3 of the weight. We finished our meals and looking to potentially get dessert, it was never presented/offered to us following the meal. While in town on business, I was wanting a great steak, but didn't want to go to the place I went to the month before, so we opted for Steakhouse Five. We sat at the bar, and there was almost no one in this place. To be fair, it was only like 5 pm, but that's cool because I hate crowds if I am being honest. I ordered the Halter Ranch Cabernet, which was really delightful. I also started with a wedge salad, that I shared with the Husband. It was just the right amount and everything was fresh and tasty. We went on a Tuesday evening and took advantage of the "Date Night" menu which offers two salads/soups, two entrées, and a shared dessert for $80. Entrees were the 16oz ribeye and pork chop, with sweet potato and brussel sprouts sides- all good. While this is certainly not Ruth's Chris comparable, it's definitely worth going to dinner here for Murfreesboro. After many attempts, we finally made it out to SHF for what I was sure would not disappoint, and as always...I was was right! Since we arrived just a bit before our reservation, we sat at the bar and had cocktails prepared by an very helpful and friendly bartender and soon after we ordered the duck pastrami appetizer. Wow! The combination of flavors was perfect, and I could just eat the apricot jam every week of my life (with good cheese of course). Just before we finished the appetizer, the host called us to be seated in the lovely quiet dining area. I ordered the Cesar salad and he the wedge. We both opted for the center cut filet, but I got the brussels with the bourbon dijon sauce and he chose the garlic mashed potatoes with the steak sauce. The sides were great quality and taste, but of course it's the filet that shines. Excellent quality and cooked to perfection, the filets cut like butter and the natural flavor was absolutely delish! The only complaint would have been that I think the steak sauce may have been rushed or incorrectly prepared cause it had a LOT of worcestershire that far overpowered what tasted like smokey bbq sauce, but the bourbon dijon was good enough to drink with a distance taste of IKEA meatball gravy. Everything was pretty well timed and our server was kind and helpful. The only less than excellent factors: Plating, price, and general customer service. If you frequent higher end restaurants and steakhouses, you start noticing the little things. One of those things was that when the host wanted to seat us from the bar to the dining room, it would've been great to have the appetizer moved to our table vs ackwardly trying to wrap everything up and move. Also, the to-go box the server brought was a simple plastic container. I can appreciate cost savings anywhere, but it would've been an added touch to have it boxed for us over just plopping a plastic container and bag on the table, but it didn't hurt the overall experience and it's not lost on me that not all people would prefer that. The plating, while nice, could've been better than just 3 circles (side, filet, sauce) pushed to the center of a very large round plate. Now, while it may seem like I'm picking, I only say all this because of the price points. It was $185 after meal and tips for two of us. This is very comparable to Etch or Stoney River, both of which are towards or in the Nashville area and we have dined at both for about the same price, but definitely a very clear difference in service and little things. It seems like we paid Nashville prices for Murfreesboro dining and for all of that, I would likely return to either other option over SHF. Overall, the quality, service, and flavor was all great! We made a same day reservation which was great - wide open on Saturday before Easter. Firstly, the rating is based on food only. Our server, Ryan was awesome - friendly and very attentive. We ordered 2 crab cakes and the sourdough for starters. Crab cakes were okay too much lemon so a bit overwhelming but the bread was very good. We had 2 Caesar's salads - nice presentation with an interesting take on dressing - it was heavy on the mustard. Entrees - 2 ribeyes and a Kansas City strip steak - all were cooked as ordered. The ribeyes were on the tough side and had almost no flavor. The chimichurri sauce was inedible and looked similar to a pate. The bacon butter was somewhat better but nothing that stood out and since our steaks weren't very hot it didn't melt as it's served on the side. The sauted mushrooms were nice however the Brussels sprout almost tasted rancid. I also put that we were celebrating a birthday per their form and it was not acknowledged at all so I'm going to assume that's on the management not our server. We got sat at a table, but the weather was so nice that we ended up asking if we can get moved to outdoor seating. They didn't have a problem with moving us at all. The decor is really nice here. I loved it a lot. Even the patio seating looks nice because they strung lights outside and there was also live music out there. Food wise, I ordered a ribeye with some mashed potatoes. I asked for medium well and I think it was cooked perfectly. Taste wise, it wasn't bad at all. The mashed potatoes was very garlicky and buttery. I felt that the aroma was really there. I had to bring it home to add salt, though. It was a little bland for my taste buds. My other half had their pork chops. It was recommended that he ordered it on medium well. It looked pretty cool. We visited on a Thursday evening and made reservations few hour earlier online. I am glad we did because after we arrived people without reservations were being told it would be a two plus hour wait. The ambiance inside the place is top tier for Murfreesboro and the place was gorgeous and cozy. Service was top notch, our waiter was filling drinks seemingly after every sip and food was extremely fast to arrive. We both had the filet mignon and it was very good, exactly what you would expect for a fine dining restaurant of this caliber. Check out the dark chocolate creme brulee for desert, it was great. My only complaint was that the two-top tables were a little small for comfort and stacked so close to other tables, that it was a little awkward to try to have any sort of intimate conversation. read more

The quick and dirty review: The flavor of the dishes here are truly spectacular. It is clear that the restaurant is attempting to set itself apart from the fast casual steakhouse chains that are popular in the area (think Outback and Longhorn). The food itself does this for the most part. But other touches, like removing free bread and steak preparation, does miss the mark a bit. The quality of dishes match the price point of this restaurant. Based on flavor and creativity in this menu, I imagine I will visit again soon. I am not rating the waiting staff of this establishment and it did not impact my score at all. People have good days and bad days, and honestly, I don't eat out to make friends. I am there to have a good meal. This also means I don't care about "vibe" either. The rating is only focused on the food - its presentation, preparation, and flavor. With that, I will say, this staff was very friendly. The ambiance is also cool. I sat on the patio and I will say it felt a little disconnected from the restaurant because the patio furniture didn't share the same upscale look as the inside. Now, the star of this restaurant is clearly its flavor. My rating of 4 stars is based on a few things that made the experience less enjoyable. But the food and the flavor combinations here were so good. The presentation of the crab cake and it's shape annoyed me deeply. I would prefer a flatter cake, it's easier to eat and the sauce being off to the side didn't make it easy to have all the flavors in one bite. After taking several bites, I understand the decision. The sauce is off to the side because the crab cake with the napa slaw on its own is fantastic. The bite with the aioli will earn this chef a place in heaven. The duck pastrami is served with a grain mustard, jalapeño apricot jam, and crostinis. Now, I think the use of crostini is very generous in this case. It looked more like roasted white bread and honestly it didn't matter one bit. The mustard itself strikes a perfect balance of pungent and spicy. The heat sneaks in and lingers just long to make you want another bite. The sweet of the jam was delicately balanced with the subtle hint of jalapeño. The combination of jam, mustard and pastrami on the crostini, was actually perfect. You get the sweet, the spicy, the smoky, and the crunchy. It was an exquisite bite. I'll be thinking about it for awhile. I may have also just ate the a spoonful of jam and mustard by itself. The filet itself comes with some sauce on the plate. And you get to order an additional "sauce." I ordered the bacon marmalade butter. The flavor combination of the sauce and butter was divine. I was so thankful for my second helping of mashed potatoes because I was able to enjoy the sauces and the juices with forkfuls of perfectly garlicky mashed potatoes. Those mashed potatoes also stood out on their own. The choice to use roasted garlic proved to be a very smart one. Roasted garlic as layer of complexity to a simple dish and played very well with the butter in the potatoes. The potatoes were creamy with small lumps which is my favorite preparation if done right which these were. I did send my steak back. The first I thought I was the wrong temp. However, after the second steak, I realized they must prep their meat to have a fast turn out time but it left the meat inside very dull. Honestly, this is the biggest reason I didn't give five stars. Speaking of the reasons why I didn't give five stars, steakhouse should have bread on the house. The fact that there's no rolls or loaves of any kind just makes me a little angry. For dessert I ordered the chocolate bourbon ice cream. It typically comes with a cookie but I don't like oatmeal reason cookies so I opted to just have ice cream. It was a solid chocolate that had a very subtle hint of bourbon. And I mean this as the highest compliment. Striking a complimentary balance between dairy and alcohol is difficult. While I believe the ice cream is excellent, I probably wouldn't order again. I love ice cream (look at my profile pic) but chocolate and chocolate-based ice creams are the worst version of the best thing.* So I got the ice cream really hoping for a heavier bourbon influence. I love bourbon, even in its worst version. The flavor was a chocolate ice cream with clear bourbon influence whereas I wanted an old fashioned with a chocolate influence in ice cream form. I didn't talk much about the drink I ordered. It was the gold rush. Honestly nothing to write home about. It tasted like a mix was used. I could be wrong, I don't care too much. It's not a dark and intimate restaurant, but rather bright and cozy. The food presentation was spot on and the creamy onion soup is terrific. Clearly one of the top five restaurants in Murfreesboro and a competitive rival to the steakhouse experience 32 miles to the north. Considering the quality prices are very reasonable so much so that Steakhouse Five can be more than just a special occasion eatery. Located in the rapidly developing Medical Center parkway it has plenty of parking and is easy to locate. The style is contemporary, high end but not lush and plush. Service from the front door to departure was friendly, prompt, attentive but not pushy. We chose to try the full meal experience. The Louisiana themed whiskey cocktail was very good, well balanced with subtle flavors. We paired that with the hot country ham drip--recommend you do the same. Perfect compliment to the cocktails. Next was shrimp bisque, which I found to rival my favs in the Big Easy. We ordered the sourdough bread and butter to go with the soups--worth it for just $3. A bottle of solid Cali Cabernet then accompanied the rest of dinner. The steaks were solid--lightly seasoned, pan fried (yes! In true western style), cooked perfectly to order. We tried the Waygu filet and the KC strip--recommend both. So tender, so tasty. Horseradish sauce is mild. With the beef we added the sweet potato hash, the baked potato and the Brussels in bacon. All three were good but sides at top end steakhouses are usually spectacular and these were merely solid. But they came with the steak and were not added charges like at big city places. We never ate here before but made reservations at Steakhouse Five to celebrate our daughter's graduation from Belmont University. The place was beautiful, including the outside bar, dining and fire pit. The staff was so friendly and our server "Vong" was phenomenal. Per my request Vong made menu recommendations and I went with it and loved EVERYTHING he suggested. Our daughter is vegetarian and Vong strategically worked with her preferences to plan her meal, which she loved. Everything was yummy and we look forward to our next visit!!!! Stellar was the expectation and they almost missed it! We were promptly greeted and were sat at a nice table. Then we waited. We were both surprised no one came to the table to say hello for about 10 minutes. We weren't upset just a little surprised. Someone must've realized we hadn't been approached and quickly we had a very nice server. She took our order then the manager came over and apologized profusely for our wait and offered to comp our appetizer. We didn't order an appetizer but he comped our drinks. This was a very nice and unexpected gesture! We ordered the lobster ravioli and ribeye steak. The steak was cooked to perfection and delicious. The lobster ravioli was sauced with saffron and was simply unbelievably good! The manager came over once more apologized for our initial wait as we finished our meal.
