NOLA, your competition has entered the room... and just stole the show! We sampled ALL of the gumbos, and honestly, choosing a favorite was almost impossible. The chicken & sausage and seafood gumbo stole my heart -- flavorfully packed with that deep Southern goodness. The grits were undoubtedly created in heaven and sent down specifically for me. I could have eaten an entire bowl and called it a meal. Have you ever seen a perfectly poached egg? This wasn't breakfast - it was artistry. But then came the croissant beignets with bourbon sauce... Someone needs to make these illegal. Whatever you do, make sure it isn't skipping on the bourbon sauce. Every single bite was better than the last. We stopped by Gumbo Bros and ordered 3 pounds of crawfish along with an order of beignets. I also tried the spicy Bloody Mary, which was okay but not particularly memorable. The crawfish had good flavor, though the seasoning leaned much heavier on the salt than the spice. They put their own twist on the beignets by using croissant dough, making them light, fluffy, and perfectly dusted with powdered sugar. The atmosphere was family-friendly and welcoming, with a small patio available for outdoor seating. Service was good. This Gumbo Bros just opened in Murfreesboro on Friday, so we headed out to try it as I've been wanting to get to the Nashville location and haven't made yet. This is a scratch kitchen and they do everything in house except the Leidenheimer French Bread, which they ship in from Louisiana. The bread is the bomb BTW. Everything came out hot and fresh. Flavors were on point and the staff were welcoming and friendly. There were some things that aren't on the menu yet like Fried Geen Tomatoes and Cajun Pasta. We were told the full menu will be available in a week or 2. I just wanted to let everyone know. There are still plenty of dishes and side to choose from. We tried both of the Gumbos ( my favorite was the Chicken & Sausage and my wifes favorite was Nanny's Seafood Gumbo ) They have about 6 covered outdoor tables and the weather was beautiful today so we sat outside. The interior is has a casual sports bar type of feel. Very clean and brand new. They serve Apps, Sides, Po Boys, a Burger, Gumbo, Etouffee, Desserts and some House Sauces. I tried their Comeback Sauce and their Jalepeno Tartar. Both delicious. To finish the review I will say I'm going back in a few weeks when they have the full menu as I want to try the Cajun Pasta and they have Crawfish Sunday Boil from Noon until Sold out. Gave The Gumbo Bros a try today. Yesterday was the grand opening, so I am glad we got here early because this place is starting to get packed. The restaurant has an up beat vibe with friendly service, and lots of cool decor. I ordered alligator bites, chicken and sausage gumbo, and Cajun waffle fries to get things started. Our order did not take too long to be prepared. The alligator bites were absolutely delicious. The Cajun ranch had a nice heat to it. The gumbo was ridiculously delicious and seasoned to perfection. The Cajun fries were also super tasty. Overall, extremely satisfying lunch. I will definitely be back to try the red beans and rice. read more

The dark roux gumbo was absolutely horrible. It did not have a pleasant taste. However, all the other food we had was phenomenal! I was willing to go into a sodium coma for this food. The light roux, appetizers, and sweet tea was all on point. The servers were really nice. read more

As a lover of Cajun food I was excited to try The Gumbo Bros. I had the seafood gumbo which was fresh and had the perfect amount of spice. I would also recommend the fried green tomatoes. Disappointed with the gumbo. I don't think they know what roux is. The gumbo was watery and seemed like the roux was actually just dark coffee with spices. The dark roast coffee taste overwhelmed the taste of the shrimp and crawfish. The alligator bites were OK, but overcooked. It was chewy. I'm so disappointed because I love Cajun food, and I live close by. My lunch for a bowl of gumbo, alligator bites, and tea was over $40. With that kind of pricing in Murfreesboro for lunch, I don't think they'll make it. The staff was very friendly though. read more

Got seated promptly, kind of a small place decorated more as a sports bar than a Cajun restaurant. We were waiting for others to arrive. We got menus and water but the waitress never asked us for drinks. She did finally get our drink order. Surprisingly though a Tennessee restaurant was out of Jack Daniel's. I ordered the alligator bites and nanny's seafood gumbo, wife ordered a roast beef with debris gravy po boy. The gumbo was delicious but it could have been a little hotter temp wise. The alligator bites were also very good. The po boy was good but a little light on the gravy. Overall the food was very good, The portions are adequate. I would have rather preferred that all the meals came out at the same time instead of one at a time where someone was eating and the others were not. I've visited the new Murfreesboro location twice. Once for the soft opening and once after fully opening. The food is okay BUT portions are nothing like New Orleans. We thought portions were small at the soft opening because they were testing out everything. When we visited again. We discovered that portions are just small. A catfish dinner has one small catfish fillet and a side, It costs about $20. On the catfish po boy, the fish doesn't cover your bread like in New Orleans. There is more bread than fish. Catfish costs about $10 per pound at the grocery store, your price should be cheaper because you're buying in bulk.. You should give at least 2 pieces of fish for your current price. We are regular visitors to New Orleans. We were there last week and had carryouts no matter where we ate. Do better with portions or drop your prices. Because of this, we won't eat here again. There are other places to eat. Service and ambience were fine. We received cold fries while waiting for our meal. The waitress took them back and had fresh ones made. read more

We pick a spot outside and planned on coming in to order. The sweet waitress greeted us outside with a smile and menus. She did a wonderful job. We ordered the chicken sausage gumbo and my our friend ordered grilled shrimp. All of it was too salty. The kitchen was kind enough to replace mom's order with a kid's meal chicken and fries and my friend happily ate the yummy fried okra and green fried tomatoes but left the shrimp. I ate the gumbo with tons of bread but didn't see anything exciting about it. It was just plain bread but thankful it dulled the salt some. Great portion sizes but a little pricey. read more
