Stellar was the expectation and they almost missed it! We were promptly greeted and were sat at a nice table. Then we waited. We were both surprised no one came to the table to say hello for about 10 minutes. We weren't upset just a little surprised. Someone must've realized we hadn't been approached and quickly we had a very nice server. She took our order then the manager came over and apologized profusely for our wait and offered to comp our appetizer. We didn't order an appetizer but he comped our drinks. This was a very nice and unexpected gesture! We ordered the lobster ravioli and ribeye steak. The steak was cooked to perfection and delicious. The lobster ravioli was sauced with saffron and was simply unbelievably good! The manager came over once more apologized for our initial wait as we finished our meal. We did get the homemade ice cream and cookie and that was a great treat! The seating for dinner is comfortable and welcoming and it was nice enough we could've had our dinner outside on the nice patio. We will return again soon! read more

For entrees we had the lamb with brussel sprouts and the filet with garlic mashed potatoes. Both were great but the filet and potatoes were the clear winner. I did an impromptu visit Friday evening to see what the place looked like. The hostess was very welcoming and invited me to take a look around. They did a total renovation and it has a nice feel, the loft area looks great, and I like how the bar looks outside. I decided to grab a drink at the bar, one thing led to another, I met Kelsey - the Bar Manager, and I decided to stay for dinner. The Bar Manager Kelsey is a great host and provided me a sip of a couple of Japanese whiskies (Iwai and Suntory Toki) to help me decide. I went with the Suntory Toki (neat) which is a blend from three distilleries and has more of a Scotch bouquet and flavor versus a whiskey. This is a nice and easy sipping whiskey with a strong, peppery finish. Appetizer...Cream of Mushroom soup with the grilled blue cheese wedge. The soup has a very earthy tone and the truffle oil adds an extra level of punch to the dish. Dipping the grilled blue cheese wedge into the soup is an incredible combination of flavors. The soup on its own is good, but the grilled blue cheese wedge puts it over the top. Dinner...American Wagyu Zabuton steak cooked Sous-vide with the Roasted Garlic Shallot butter as an accompaniment. This is the first time I have ever had a steak cooked Sous-vide so I was excited to experience this method of cooking a steak. For a side I went with the baked potato that has the skin seasoned with salt and spices. The steak was perfectly cooked medium rare and plated very nicely. The meat was very tender, exceptionally marbled, and nicely seared. Enhancing the steak with a bit of the Roasted Garlic Shallot butter really made for a great experience and flavor. Pretty impressed with the perfection the Sous-vide method of cooking a steak. A recommendation...the steak should not have been sliced so thinly. Thicker slices would allow for more of the overall marbling and seared edge flavors to come through. The baked potato was good but more options than just butter would be nice. I enjoyed one of their by the glass wines (a Portuguese red blend) which was a solid compliment for this steak. I was hoping for a bigger "WOW" factor for this steak. Dessert...Blueberry & Peach Cobbler. This was a solid dessert and I loved the distinctive tart/sweet combination with the soft cake and vanilla ice cream...a nice ending to dinner. Service...everyone from the greeter to Kelsey and Courtland were excellent and took great care of me. Overall...they just opened so they are still working out the kinks and were very receptive to suggestions I shared. I enjoyed the meal, but to be honest expected more of an exceptional steakhouse experience knowing the history and Chef/Owner. I feel the steaks are fairly priced but some of the appetizers are a bit pricey in comparison. I would like to see some other options for sides (a great steak deserves mushrooms) along with some better descriptions of the dishes offered. For example...not many will know what a Haricot Verts is and would need to ask. I will be back to try some of the other steaks and to see how this place will grow. My hope...as one of the premiere steakhouses of Middle Tennessee!!! read more

We held my wife's 40th Birthday at Steakhouse Five. From the planning to the actual event I was blown away. Working with Sam the general manager was great. He laid out all the options and came up with a great plan. They were very accommodating letting us come in early to decorate. The room was fantastic and the servers assigned to our party of 27 went above and beyond. Appetizers and drinks were served before sitting for dinner. Every steak was cooked to order and I have not heard of one that was cooked any other way than what was ordered. The brussel sprouts were delicious as was the potato. "Murfreesboro needs a high end steakhouse and we finally got one", is the quote I'd heard over and over again. As for me, I think not, and I have eaten at some of the best steakhouses in the USA as well as the major chains. This review will simply be in bullet form. I apologize to my reader for not being more organized, but this is just a stream of consciousness about my experience. OK, I'll organize my bullet points. - The parking lot was LOADED with exotics and high end luxury cars - Run by the same owner as Five Senses, a great dining experience - A place for those who want to be seen at the "in place" - Hostess was way to ingratiating. I was uncomfortable - Staff was very ingratiating. - Make sure you make a reservation. (Based on my experience, don't go) - High ceiling for the loft made the place way too noisy - NOT your dark paneled typical steakhouse at all - Light, airy and well lit - Waited WAY too long for my steak to arrive. Dining alone, I was bored. - Club soda was served out of a bottle from the grocery store. - What is wrong with the seltzer from bar with FREE refills? - Presentation was terrible - white plate with the steak on a puddle of gravy and a yellow hockey puck they called "grits custard". Very unappetizing - For the price of my steak, I was expecting a much thicker cut of meat, this thing was very thin. - Too much sinewy tissue. Steak was hard to keep on my plate, let alone cut easily - No where near the value for your money. Side dishes were priced very high. - I've had better meals at chain steakhouses for less money - Specialized cocktails were very expensive, as were deserts. - The high end Chateauneuf du pape at $168 (plus 25% taxes) was WAY overpriced. - No thanks, if I want a really good steak house experience, there are other locations in Mufreesboro without the high end price and disappointing food. - If I want a very good steak house experience, I'll head to Nashville. - If want a fantastic experience, I will work it in to a trip to Chicago, Indianapolis, or Orlando. I was looking for a special place to celebrate our 20th Anniversary, and Steakhouse Five did not disappoint. The atmosphere was great. We enjoyed the ambiance of the lighting, decoration, and comfortable space at our table. The noise was noticeable, but not distracting. We enjoyed quality, hand-crafted cocktails from the bar while waiting for our food to arrive. The Manhattan and Old Fashion Rye were excellent. Appetizer - Delicious! - Smoked Trout with trout roe, radishes and crustini bread. Radishes were local (Eagleville). We love the thought of supporting local farmers and growers. Pickled red onion would be a perfect addition to the dish. Steak - Excellent! - Split Bone Ribeye - Perfectly cooked and seasoned well. The side of Whiskey Bacon Butter was a great addition, but the steak didn't need it. Tender and tasty. Sauce got a little salty towards the end of the dish. Sides - Two keepers! - The staff informed us that the menu had just been updated and they were trying out some new sides. The first was a Sweet Potato Hash. Delicious, with just enough crisp without losing the softness of the sweet potato. The second was Brussels and Bacon. Great flavor of the earthiness of the brussel sprouts mixed with the saltiness of the bacon. Finally, after another cocktail, we were surprised with a complimentary Butterscotch Creme Brule on a decorated plate with Happy Anniversary! This was a great gesture of hospitality and a wonderful bit of dessert to cap off the evening! Thanks to the staff for making this a memorable meal for our special anniversary. We highly recommend Steakhouse Five for that slightly upscale steak experience. Murfreesboro has a few great restaurants and Steakhouse Five is among them. We'll definitely be back! read more

My husband and I were looking for a nice dinner experience on our way through the area and chose Steakhouse Five based on yelp reviews. Our server was a little on the casual side for the price point, but so were we. We ordered the sourdough bread as a $3 appetizer. I wasn't too sure about this as bread is usually complimentary, but it's made fresh in-house and served warm with a side of salt flaked butter. Definitely worth it. We ordered the split bone ribeye and the dry aged strip. Both were cooked to our specifications and had a wonderful crust. The steaks were well seasoned, but not overly so. Well done, Chef! Thank you! We aren't from the south, but I do love grits, however I wouldn't order them again. The steak was the star, and I'm OK with that. There were a few dessert options that I would have loved to try, but alas, I was too full. My wife and I decided we wanted a nice steak dinner and had had all the regular options around the Boro so decided to give Steakhouse Five a try. Her birthday fell on a Tuesday this year so we decided that's what we would do. We arrived without making reservations and were sat within the first few minutes of arriving. The dining room had nice decor and the ambience was nice. Our server arrived promptly to fill our waters and offer us drinks from the bar. Our drinks were made and the server delivered them to our table and asked if we wanted to start with an appetizer or needed a minute to look over the menu or if we were just ready to order. I asked them if there were any features or specials going on that night and was told no, unfortunately not. That was not a problem. We like limited menu restaurants and sometimes these type restaurants do not offer specials or features. We ordered an appetizer and went ahead and ordered our entrees as well. I ordered one of the bone in steaks and my wife ordered the salmon. Our appetizer came out shortly after ordering and was enjoyable. While waiting on our entrees another table was being seated in our vicinity and I noticed when their server came to the table for the greeting they pointed out the "Date Night" special. 2 salads/soups, 2 entrees (select options) and 1 dessert. And even placed an additional menu on their table that I assumed showed this special for the evening. I let out an audible "Hmmm". But I didn't say anything or bring this up to my wife. The entrees came out, the food was great. Our server kept our waters filled and made sure we didn't need another drink or anything else to go with our dinner. When we were finished I paid the bill, tipped my normal 18%-20% range and we went about our evening. But I can't help but feel a little deceived. Is it only a few bucks in the long scheme of things, sure, but it's the fact of the matter. I used to wait tables when putting myself through school and we were always encouraged to upsell. The higher the bill, the higher the tip normally. The restaurant wins, you win type situation. I'm really hoping this wasn't an instance of deceit in order to run a bill up to help the chances of a larger tip but I can't say I didn't feel like that the night of the experience and even afterwards. The food was great actually but given the circumstances I'm not sure I will return to this establishment. Don't let the one bad apple ruin the whole batch right? So maybe in the future I give this place another chance, but not until I get rid of this bad after taste. read more

Celebrated birthday dinner with a party of four on a Wednesday evening. We made reservations online which was easy enough. The restaurant is located on the back side of the beautiful Fountains complex on Medical Center. The parking is plenteous and close to the restaurant. The restaurant is a classic modern chic with beautiful exposed wood accents. We were seated exactly at our reservation time. The host was very welcoming. Our server was quick to our table and very attentive the entire meal. The menu has approximately 10 steak entrees and a seafood entree. Their were 8 appetizer options. We chose the oysters and shrimp cocktail. The shrimp was fabulous, 3 jumbo plus shrimp on a bed of romaine lettuce encircled in delicious cocktail sauce. Three members of our party ordered the flat iron steak, a generous portion prepared perfectly. One was medium rare with dark red center, one was medium and the last one was medium plus. Each person said there steak was prepared perfectly. Their sides were green beans, baked potato and grits. I ordered a Cesar salad which was a beautiful display in a wrapped lettuce presentation with very tasty Cesar dressing, flavored with croutons. The salad was garnished with sliced tasty Parmesan cheese. I also had the mushroom soup which was served at a perfect temperature and had a hint of wildness but not overbearing- it's texture was enticing. Our party finished our meal with the peach blueberry cobbler which was steaming hot and left us wanting more. The cobbler and French press coffee was a perfect ending to a enjoyable meal. The only negative was the lack of bread offered during the meal and the oysters were ridiculously small and tasteless. But then again, it's a steakhouse, not a fresh seafood restaurant. I was able to attend a soft opening for the brunch menu they will be producing shortly. I had the Bloody Mary to start and it was delicious, silent but deadly kind. I'm feeling great! Also the table was given a couple of French press coffee makers and the people who drank those thought the coffee was divine. Mimosas were flowing as well and one lady had a grapefruit one and it looked beautiful so I want to try that next. We ordered appetizers such as avocado toast with CAVIAR on top, seriously delicious I could of eaten a whole loaf. So I highly recommend as a starter. It was a small slice so it's not a meal if you are hungry. The table also had country ham dip, this was probably my favorite. It was served warm on flat bread crackers. It's a must try. Lastly there was a French toast starter next to me. I am NOT a French toast eater, too much cinnamon usually. This French toast was delicious. It came with two slices of thick French toast, some sweet cream sauce, mixed berries and syrup. It was scrumptious. I would have that again. For the main dish I and most of the rest of the table had the steak omelette, it was the perfect size, not too big not too small. It came with home fries. Let me brag on these home fries. CRISPY AND FLAVORFUL. I usually don't like home fries, they are soggy and just taste fried. These were not like that, they had some seasoning on them and were crispy in all the right places but were meaty as well. I will return to brunch here when they roll that out. We were so excited to try this place! We were seated at a booth in the bar, which at first kind of bugged me but I think that was a good situation as the place is LOUD (it's a steakhouse, so I expect that) but the bar was a bit quieter. Our server was very knowledgeable and helpful. I had the caesar salad. I know this will sound silly, but this was hands down the best caesar salad I've ever had. Sooooo sooooo good. I also had the filet with the haricots verts (trying to be healthy). Steak was cooked to perfection, and the green beans were good. For dessert, I shared the chocolate creme brulee with my hubby. I really wanted the bread pudding, but I'll get that next time as we'll definitely be back. So happy this place is in Murfreesboro - yay! read more
