My favorites were definitely firecracker shrimp, raw oysters and the pineapple playmaker. The firecracker shrimp was perfectly seasoned and textured. Raw oysters were fresh. The pineapple playmaker was just fantastic. My husband said his fried pickle chicken sandwich was really good as well. Everything came out really quickly, which was fantastic! This is their new location on the town square. The parking is at a premium during lunch time so get there early. [[HIGHLIGHT]]The new restaurant dogs look great. Similar to other wing joints in the area, Jefferson's is pretty rough at being very inconsistent. The first time my family went in, we were blown away with how good everything was. Hot and fresh, each order is always cooked to order, so there is a touch of a wait, but nothing unbearable. The second and third times we went however were different stories. I will say that every time we've been, the beer is NEVER cold as it should be. Just chilled at best. The first round of lemon pepper wings we had were some of the best lemon pepper we've had anywhere. Each of the next two consecutive attempts to eat there were no where near as good. The wings were dry and over cooked, the flavors were badly lacking, the customer service went from good to mediocre to just plain rude the last time we were there. Overall, we've given it several shots, but will likely not be back. It's just too inconsistent for what you pay. Shame too, as they have quite a bit on their menu we'dve like to try, but with as inconsistent of food as we've received are very discouraged to try anything else. read more

It was totally okay though, don't mind waiting a little bit for our food to be warm. The lady came out and said "it would be about 3 minutes for the order, just dropped fries. Okay, 20 minutes later get our food and stuff was missing. So glad I checked the bag, during that 20 minutes, never got an update, never asked if I wanted a water or a beverage while waiting. Walk out, didn't get our drink. Headed home, ate our not warm food and the fries she said she had dropped were cold and soggy. On top of that, we have ordered the jalapeño cheese bites a million times. They were so spicy tonight, we didn't even eat them!! I'm bummed!! The food overall was very tasty! Unfortunately, the service was lacking. I ordered a to-go order over the phone and was quoted a wait time of 15-20 minutes. We were on the way home from a workout for my daughter and both starving. Unfortunately, when I arrived to pick up my food (over 20 minutes later) the gentlemen at the cash register said "OMG I never sent your order in when you called." After that he proceeded to submit my order and did not request for it to be made on the fly nor was I offered anything for the error or the fact that I had to wait another 20 plus minutes for the food. While he was apologetic, it was not a great experience. They were quite busy with only three people in working so it seems they were pretty understaffed which likely led to the mistake. It isn't a bad spot at all. We came here on a Friday evening, and it was pretty packed. There is also limited seating. It isn't too far from campus. I tried their raw oysters, baked Cajun oysters, Chicken tenders, and burger. I didn't think their oysters were bad at all. Their chicken tenders were perfectly golden, fried. Their French fries were good, and the burger was pretty good. Tbh, I came here because I was craving oysters and I found it on Yelp. It popped up when I yelped oysters. Jefferson's has become a staple in the Maryland Farms area. It has come a long way over the years. When they first opened, I would very rarely eat there because nothing was good. My office was right next to there for 11 years. But several years back something changed and for the better. They have some of my favorite wings in town. Get them double dipped! I like this little place. Off of Main near/next to Slick Pig. Friendly folks, reasonably priced. The food is delicious and made to order. Oysters are fresh. Raw oysters are ice cold and delicious. FYI, did you know to serve raw oysters in TN, you have to get a special certification. That's why many places sell them cooked in one form or another. read more

I'm a pretty patient, easy to please person and usually Jefferson's would rate a solid 3.5. But something has gone awry. Or maybe just a bad day? I ordered the buffalo shrimp basket with curly fries and the drink special of the day, a Long Island tea. 1. They were out of curly fries. No big deal. I subbed for tater tots. 2. The Long Island tea was WEIRD. More like something mixed with sweet tea vodka than the traditional LIT. But it was on special, so not worth sending it back. 3. Basket arrived with no Buffalo. Waiter brought the sauce but it's always better when they shake it. Bill arrives.... Charged for upgrade on curly fries. Asked the server if tater tots were also an upgrade. Server said "IDK, I think so." Charged full price for the drink (the gross drink, remind you). I pointed out the table display that listed the drink specials. "Oh we don't have drink specials anymore." THEN WHY ARE THERE SPECIALS LISTED AT THE TABLE?!? Server did nothing to fix the problem. Manager did nothing and hid in the kitchen. I'm picturing some young college kid with no authority. Or at least I'm hoping for that since customer service was no where in their thoughts the night I was there. First time coming here since I'm not from this area. I like the simplicity of this place, it's like one of those gem hole in the wall kind of places. We started by having the Queso and chip appetizer and it was good! The queso was thick and not runny. Still not my Texas queso but it was good! Then my mom had the Fried Oyster basket with baked beans. She loved the baked beans! Said they were the best baked beans she has had in a while. I got the Fried Pickled Burger and it was delicious, could the meat have been seasoned more? Sure but all in all it was a really good burger! The bun was super soft , not too much coating on the fried pickles and the curly fries were yummy! The ranch they make there and it was very good! Dessert we wanted the peanut pie but it wasn't ready yet so we tried the funnel cake fries with special sauce and they were delicious! Situated near a college is Jefferson's on my visit to Tennessee I wanted to try Nashville Hot Chicken and luckily Jefferson's was open late! We had quite a large order which consisted of wings, fried pickles, mushrooms, nachos, hot chicken, shrimp po boy, a couple salads, Jefferson oysters, and fried Mac n cheese overall the food was quite amazing. Given that I'm in the south definitely had to get the fried pickles and mushrooms. The wings, with afterburner sauce. O.M.G. Perfect amount of spice and crispness of the wings. The hot chicken, was fresh and boy did it burn. Thanks Jefferson's for my first hot chicken plate! I had ordered the Jefferson's oysters which was baked with Parmesan cheese jalapeños and some other toppings I can't really remember, but all I knew was that it was delicious! The only downside of the order was the po boy, I don't know what it is but finding po boy that's made properly is hard to find. But until then, everything else that I ate was delicious! read more

July 14, 2019: Been over 18 months since I was last here...Jefferson's is a quaint little out-of-the-way spot that serves up good food at a decent price. My server (sadly she never introduced herself) recommended the Sunday special of $8.99 Platters and while I considered oysters I went with the shrimp as this is not a month with an "R" in it. The Shrimp Platter had 10x good sized shrimp fried golden and I selected curly fries and potato salad with the hushpuppies and cocktail sauce. The shrimp were perfectly cooked and tasted "fresh" meaning they did not have the flavor of "old" cooking oil. Shrimp have a tendency of assuming the flavors of the oil they are cooked in...these were delicious. The curly fries were good but the potato salad and the potatoes were a bit mushy. I took my daughter here for Sunday lunch. My daughter had the boneless wings and she said they were delicious. I had the Buffalo chicken salad, along with a beer , and it was outstanding. Jefferson's is fairly new to Murfreesboro, although the history on the menu says they have been around since 1991 in Alabama. When I saw they had raw oysters on the menu, I wondered if a small, casual eatery could really succeed in carrying a line that was fragile, perishable and expensive and compete against the bigger seafood restaurants in town such as Bonefish, Wang's, and (ugh!) Red Lobster. The restaurant is small but well-furnished. College pennants and personalized dollar bills tacked to the walls inform you that they cater to the college and college-friendly crowd. I was excited to find out that oysters are the Tuesday special and can be had for $0.75 each! That was a deal too good to pass up. The oysters come from the Alabama gulf coast and were as fresh as any I've had in Tennessee. I know other places have the all-you-can eat thing going, but their oysters were little brothers and sisters compared to Jefferson's oysters. The fried oyster basket was made using the fresh oysters and were very good. They were accompanied by a generous portion of crinkle cut french fries. Service as attentive and not intrusive and we never felt rushed. I will put this place on my monthly rotation, if not weekly (Tuesday!) rotation. read more

Once you walk in you cannot tell if you have to wait to be seated or just get a seat yourself so upon entering I stood there for a minute and saw waitresses running around but no acknowledgement. I finally just went to the counter and placed my order. I decided to eat there and then I was instructed to sit wherever I desired. My server offered me a free water and then took my order. The space has plenty of room and seats and TVs. I ordered a chicken cheesesteak with fries. I expected the cheeses to be melted more. The fries were hot which is always a plus. Just had a quick lunch here. We were passing through on I-24 looking for a good chicken place. This seemed to be the best option although we had never heard of this chain. The restaurant is in a quaint old house. The wait staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. We went with the recommendation and got the fish tacos with Asian Zinger sauce. Very likely the best fish tacos I have ever had! The sauce is amazing. We will add this place to our list of awesome places to eat here. Well worth the short drive from the interstate! read more
